Abellio 0 Posted August 13 #1 Share Posted August 13 (edited) Leeching Nightmare Such a nice moment. Abellio had been over the moon. His heart had been full to bursting, threatening to thunder out of his chest. A moment where two souls aligned, burning hot and on a collision course with one another. He still wasn’t sure. But he couldn’t get in his own way. Not with her. He would allow himself one indulgence. Force himself not to listen to the thoughts buzzing through his own head. Abellio would crash back down to earth the moment that dagger was thrown. All that heat evaporated. All the affection sapped away. Abellio, for his entire life, had never felt a single iota of the chill he did now. A dark robed figure, an orange cursor. He should be afraid. Icy fingers dug into his chest. Pulse slowed, focus gained. He was afraid. Not of the figure clad in shadows or the wide grin that reflected white from beneath a heavy cowl. Not that. He felt nothing but hate for that. He was afraid of this feeling. He’d never had that conversation with himself. Never thought about what he would do in a situation like this. Maybe there was some vague hope that he would talk himself out of it. That he could be so infectious in his positivity or smile just the right way that he might tug on whatever heartstring some would-be assassin still had. He glanced back at Lydia for a moment, then back to the figure. His eyes went wide, his arm simply moved. Another metallic clang, another dagger sent spinning off to the side. Lesson learned. Eyes forward. “Oh you’re good,” the figure said, a feminine teasing drawl. He didn’t need the compliment. Abellio’s grip tightened on his weapon. His body tensed, his vision narrowed. Why did everything seem to be so slow? He was just about to move. A heartbeat away from launching himself toward the woman. A blade burst from her chest. Dark, immaculately crafted. And a figure appeared from the aether behind her. A man, dressed in black. Dark hair with piercing crimson eyes. He found himself not staring at the assassin, but at the one attacking her. Another orange cursor. Abellio blinked. That didn’t make sense. It was illogical, right? And that absence of logic pulled him out of whatever trance he had found himself in. Warmed the sheer cold that ran through his veins. He had just been so willing to unleash upon the figure, but seeing her standing stark still with a blade thrust through her back made reality insist upon itself. He had to ask himself the question. If he won, would he even have the nerve to be so callous about it? The man - Ascalon - did not seem perturbed in the slightest. There was no glee or sadness. His face was a blank, emotionless mask. It was terrifying. Perhaps more terrifying than if he had been happy about it. Abellio’s nerve faltered. How could someone hurt another person so… casually? “Don’t you two have somewhere to be?” Spoiler "Name: Abellio True Tier: 4 Level: 31 Paragon Level: 0 HP: 680/680 EN: 100/100 Stats: Damage: 23 Mitigation: 109 Accuracy: 3 Battle Healing: 34 Stealth Rating: -5 BLD: 36 PARA Equipped Gear: Weapon/Armor/Trinket: - <<Vanguard's Bastard Sword>> T3 Perfect OHSS | BLD II, PARA I Armor/Trinket: - <<Comfy Socks>> T3 Perfect HA | MIT III Shield/Armor/Trinket: - <<glasses>> T1 Perfect Trinket | ACC III Combat Mastery: - Combat Mastery: Damage R3 Combat Shift: - AOE Shift Familiar Skill: - Custom Skill: - Skills: - Battle Healing R5 - Energist - Heavy Armor R5 - Straight Sword R5 Extra Skills: - Forgotten King's Authority - Lady Luck - Assault Mode Inactive Extra Skills: Addons: - Ferocity - Focus - Iron Skin Mods: - Impetus Inactive Mods: Battle Ready Inventory: Housing Buffs: - Basic Kitchen: Increase the effectiveness of a single food item consumed in a thread by +1 T1 slot. Lysette 0 Posted August 13 #2 Share Posted August 13 (edited) What the fuck was even going on? Lydia’s head was spinning. She was just about to- And then- Her eyes remained locked on that orange cursor. Abellio was different. She could tell. That cold look in his eyes wasn’t the Abellio she knew. It scared her. Because she knew what he was thinking. That glare only meant one thing. She wanted to run, but terror kept her feet locked in place. Not of the orange Player, but of what Abellio was going to do to them. She didn’t want to watch that. She didn’t want to witness her Abellio become a killer. She almost let out a sigh of relief that blade burst from the Player-Killer’s chest. Lydia felt immediately guilty about it. She shouldn’t have felt that way. It was wrong. But if the choice was Abellio’s hands getting dirty or some stranger’s then - “Don’t you two have some place to be?” Right. They did. The Quests. They could - Could they? She placed her hand on Abellio’s shoulder. She couldn’t fathom why some other Orange Player would come help them, but she really didn’t care. She needed to get away. She needed to get him away. “Sam,” she whispered, desperation coloring her tone. If she just got him out of here, everything would be okay. “Don’t.” "Please?" Abellio 0 Posted 2 hours ago Author #3 Share Posted 2 hours ago (edited) Ascalon withdrew his weapon from the woman's back. She collapsed backward, falling to the ground - frozen. His gaze shifted, away from Abellio and Lysette and down to the woman. Did he paralyze her or something? The man squatted down, resting his weapon against his shoulder. "I'm not gonna kill her, if that's what you're worried about. We just need to have a chat," Ascalon said, keeping his eyes trained on the woman. "About what?" Abellio's voice surprised him. It was a more hostile than he intended. Could he chalk it up to the adrenaline? "Don't worry about it," came Ascalon's reply. The fire surged again. Rage, hot and white. "Don't worry about it? What the fuck is going on? Don't you think you owe us-" "I don't owe you shit," Ascalon spat. "I just saved your lives. Be grateful. Fuck off." Abellio took a step forward, but stopped cold when he felt a hand on his shoulder. "Sam. Don't. Please?" Abellio deflated when he saw Lydia's expression. Those pleading eyes, her lips turned down into a frown. He hated that more than he hated those two Orange players. He let out a heavy sigh, hanging his head forward. What could he even say right now? He spared a glance towards Ascalon before allowing Lydia to pull his attention away. "Okay." Edited 2 hours ago by Oscar
