Arbalest 0 Posted October 18 #1 Share Posted October 18 In the midst of panic after Kayaba's grand speech, Arbalest watched everyone break down into a panic. In all truth, she felt how they acted. Her dreams - her life - were at threat of not being realized. In that moment, she vowed that she would spend no longer than a couple months in this game. The full dive experience was something she truly enjoyed but she wasn't going to leave her father alone with no one. Fast forward and it feels like it's been years. Several people have already died as indicated by the wall on the first floor and things are really starting to look bleak for them all. Arbalest broke down somewhat quickly. All of her dreams were shattered and she might as well be a breathing corpse at this point. A friend she met in between now and then had nearly lost her life on a quest and was now paralyzed in fear of leaving the safe zones. Everyday becomes another notch on the wall for the both of them and despite the other's constant pleas to not leave the safe zone, Arbalest is done wasting away in digital prison. It was time to claw her way to the top of this damn tower, even if it meant she did it completely by herself. ----------- After dragging herself away from her new best friend, Arbalest would finally see to the tutorial quests - One of the only quests she was told was safe to do by her friend. A weapon would be provided and the threat of death is extremely minimal, so the girl found her way to Zachariah's domain. Of course, the NPC was too busy to give her the time of day so she rushed through the dialogue and got her objective. The fondue was pretty good though. Arbalest sighed as she walked out of the man's workshop and began heading towards the quest marker given to her. This was going to be the most boring part of this game but it was a necessary first step. ph stats coming soon to a post near you.
Reytac 0 Posted October 18 #2 Share Posted October 18 (edited) "One, two Rey is coming for you, three four, gonna gather some godsbedamned materials so I can keep making things!" Reytac ran the fingers of one hand through his hair as he growled in frustration. He had fallen into the trap that many new crafters had, he felt - he had unlocked his shiny new profession, and in the space of.. a week or two, he had burnt through nearly all the resources he had gathered up to that point on his attempts at making his tools and consumables. And he still didn't have enough to actually stock his store and run it comfortably - oh he was sure he could probably get by on selling the handful of sparkstones and traps he'd crafted, but he wanted people to actually see all that Engineers could do! So right now, he was back on the first floor, trying his hand at the old game of gathering things. The materials down here weren't necessarily as varied as the ones on higher floors, but at the very least he could gather things without worrying about a random mob deciding he looked like a juicy snack. He still had to get his longer-term weapon. He had an idea for it, but first he'd have to actually get used to his current one and his new skills. Reytac pushed through the stalks of grass and walked back onto the main path from the city gates, and blinked when he saw a green icon bobbing along towards him. That was - odd. Most people nowadays didn't come down this far, not unless they had some reason to. The ones who wanted homes made them up a bit higher, and he didn't think anyone was down here to attempt the dungeon that had been found down here. Was - this someone like him? Someone who had gotten their act together after some time and was now getting started? He'd been there only a few months ago, and seeing someone else break free made his chest ache. Someone else was going to try climbing the tower in this damn death game to help get them out. If he was right, that was. "Hello there, Miss! I'm sorry if this is a bit rude, but, are you just getting started? If so, would you like a hand?" Arbalest 0 Posted October 22 Author #3 Share Posted October 22 (edited) The walk to the safe zone edge wasn't too far from Zach's place so it wouldn't be long before she found herself crossing the boundary to certain death. Only for those unprepared, of course. Knowing she was unlikely to run into trouble on this part of the quest. Within moments of exiting, she would be approached by what she thought was another NPC trying to give her some random fetch quest but a second glance afforded her the knowledge of the green cursor above his head. He would greet her enthusiastically and butt into her business. Normally she would wave people like this off to leave her alone but if she wanted to reach the top she would have to follow in the footsteps of those who came before. That meant making some kind of friends. "Yo," She said with much less enthusiasm than he, tone dry as sand. "Even if it's rude, I guess it's necessary. While help isn't needed, I won't mind if you hang around. Just doing these early quests to give me a jumpstart. You don't really get much in the lieu of starting equipment unless you do them." She did what she could to avoid eye contact, which was also to look around for the materials Zachariah needed. Even if Reytac was responding to her Arbalest would walk by a couple meters and scoop up a little plant that was probably used for some kind of alchemy potion. Not her style, the crafting and gathering stuff. She would turn back to Reytac and give a sort of soft smile. "Oh, I'm Arbalest. Don't worry about forgetting it, I'll make sure everyone knows it when I stand on floor 100, triumphant." 255716 - LD 15+3 Material found! Reytac 0 Posted October 22 #4 Share Posted October 22 (edited) Reytac was bemused by the brash and confident young lady who was now avoiding eye contact with him – he could see in the way when she’d been turned towards him, her eyes immediately shot past him to somewhere else, looking for anything that could be snagged and used. He remembered how frustrating this mission had been for him – and how he’d just given up on actually finding multiple materials and just gone with the one after his attempts and failures counted. Reminiscing a little, he glanced down and saw a large chunk of ore-bearing rock, and hauled it up, smiling when he saw that it had a hefty root growing through the dirt and rock as well – two for the price of one. He tucked the materials into his inventory as he focused his attention back on the young woman, Arbalest, as she turned around and made her claim to fame. While said with a smile, he could see the full belief and self—confidence that she held. ”I’ll be happy to see you up at the top then, Miss Arbalest. I’m gunning for the same thing myself. If you’re needing some equipment for now though, I can point you towards a couple craftsmen who help out lower level adventurers in getting geared up. Better and you can specify the things you want a bit better than the generic store-bought crap.” Forager Rank 2: Profession EXP 93/149 ID: 256074 CD:10 LD:16 Critical Success: EXP +16 Materials +2 256074 / 256074-1 Forager EXP: 109/149 Edited yesterday at 12:54 PM by Reytac
Arbalest 0 Posted 3 hours ago Author #5 Share Posted 3 hours ago (edited) In any other circumstance with people, Arbalest would find herself trying to open a locked door. The chain on the other side of the door is unreachable but it gives her enough to peer into, enough to at least see and greet. This time the door was open and a she was greeted with a smile. It caught her off guard very quickly. "Happy to see me at the top?" She questioned, barely giving time for the man to speak on assistance. "You don't even know me- Oh, but I guess we all benefit from someone standing atop floor, 100 huh?" As she thought more about it, it made more sense. He was bolstering her confidence in reaching her goals -- Goals they shared. "For gear? I haven't gotten anything yet but I know there's plenty of quests I can do that don't require the gear. I also... made a promise to avoid combat. I don't break promises." While talking, she tried to find more of the plant that she'd already found. Looks like her interaction had de-spawned the whole cluster. "You never told me you're name. Ya' got one?" 256153 - LD: 10+3 Failure 2/3 Edited 1 hour ago by Scarlet Firefly
