Vitalis 1 Posted 6 hours ago Author #2 Share Posted 6 hours ago (edited) background// Born and raised by a single mother, Emmeritt O'Neal made a career of defying all expectations. He probably should have lived and died as gutter trash. But he was blessed with two gifts from a very young age: exceptional intelligence and the ability to shut the fuck up. Those two things gave him a leg up on his peers. Silently observing, learning, adapting. Emmeritt used and abused his gifts. School was no challenge, but dreadfully boring. Undergrad was a similar story. He earned his doctorate, his PH.D and his medical license. A practicing surgeon, accurate, precise, efficient. Video games were a luxury he'd only recently indulged in. His childhood kept him busy. Odd jobs to put food on the table. Studies and extra-curriculars. Everything managed with the same precision - without fuss or complaint. But with his well-earned freedom, he found himself interest in vices previously ignored. He bought a NerveGear, imported from Japan. Treated himself to Sword Art Online and logged in. Now Vitalis - named for a martyr'd Saint of Milan - he found himself wound into the same trap as everyone else. Vitalis earned his claim to fame - or infamy - by tending to the wounded wherever he found them, whoever they were. Anyone in his sight. He cared very little. He said even less. But they all understood the message. They died when he said they did. His efforts - being one of the few who would heal a PKer - earned him a measure of safety. There were few willing to cut down the only healer they had. Even fewer who would be able to get away with it. And so he wanders the floors, plying his trade. Waiting for the day he can go home. Vitalis 1 Posted 6 hours ago Author #3 Share Posted 6 hours ago (edited) personality// Vitalis is a man of few words. Sees more than you think, knows more than you would assume. He cares little for the superfluous. His chief desire is to keep everyone he can breathing. Be it against the errant boar or a massive Field Boss, if it's within his power, he will use his skills to the best of his ability. It's almost a compulsion of his - a need to help. Quiet, understated, but incredibly resolute. He throws himself into the dragon's den regularly, caring little for his own continued existence. To him, it would be a fair trade. His ultimate, solemn duty to uphold his vow to do no harm. Because would it not be harmful if he did nothing? Edited 6 hours ago by Vitalis
Vitalis 1 Posted 6 hours ago Author #4 Share Posted 6 hours ago (edited) virtues// observant - Vitalis prefers to hang back and watch things unfold, moving only when he deems his intervention necessary. He's learned to pay attention to things that might escape one's notice. Predicting damage, noticing boss telegraphs. tactician - His mind moves quickly, finding the most efficient means to deal with a threat. NPCs are meant to be random, but nothing is truly random. He can see the throughlines, accurately predicting the moves the enemy will make. good-natured - He doesn't care about backgrounds, only how he might help. Be it healing skills or through his abilities to cut through to the heart of a fight, he willingly and gladly plies his trade to anyone he comes across who needs it. And he does so for free, without any expectations. Just that they keep living to see another day. flaws// Edited 6 hours ago by Vitalis
