[PT-PP-F01] Light In the Darkness (Let There Be Light)

Recommended Posts

Reytac hummed under his breath as he looked around. He had seen a worried female NPC a short while ago, and asking around had found out that she was in fact a quest-giver NPC who was missing her daughter. At first he thought he might run the quest alone, knocking it out alone and helping the woman out – like with the dragon, while he couldn’t always help the Npcs and their quest lines, at least here, now, he could help this one and make their life a little better. But as he had thought about it, he realized that he might as well invite a couple people along on the quest, see if they wanted to meet up again and work together. So he pulled open his contacts list and scrolled through it, hesitating a little before settling on a couple of names. He knew some of them were busy right now, working on their own projects – or some were near unknowable on whether or not they were busy, like Nisa. He didn’t know if the ones he invited would even join him, but he figured he might as well put the invitation out to them before he started this rodeo.

Hey, found a quest down on the first floor. From what I can tell, it’s a bit of spelunking to rescue a missing girl. You interested?
-Reytac

He sent the message off to the two of them and cracked his neck, looking around again one last time. It would take at least a little time before either of the ladies could respond, so he had some time to kill – and then he saw a black-haired man wandering, looking a little aimless and lost. He had a look about him that Reytac was familiar with, a look Reytac felt he’d had himself not too long ago, of someone who didn’t quite know what they needed to be doing.
”Hey there, sir. Name’s Reytac. There’s a quest nearby to rescue a kid from a cave system, would you be interested in joining myself and a couple friends?” It’d give him a chance to talk with this guy, and maybe give him some nudges towards where he could go to get some equipment perhaps.

Luke was in the middle of trying to get some players to help out with a quest. He knew a girl named Astra who he usually liked to adventure with, but she was being very annoying.

“Me? Help with a quest? Oh heavens no, I’m not good with this sort of thing.” She fanned herself with her hand exasperatedly. She did briefly consider throwing some more excuses into the mix, but she decided to leave it at that. While she was trained in medicine, she thought the idea of being a medic in a game to be quite boring. It was an odd feeling to be so good at medicine but to be grossed out by healing in a video game. So she usually just socialized.

“Fine, I’ll find someone else that can help me,” Luke fumed, storming out.

Not too long later he found Reytac and said, “hey, you want to do a quest together?”

He didn’t know the guy at all, but at this point he was desperate and would take just about anyone. Not that he felt that he deserved good help, since he was pretty weak and all.

The sun was bright today, birds flying high above, turning and gliding about in the air. Floor 5 had its own level of excitement. Seemed as though the NPC villagers nearby were celebrating a birthday. She was bewildered. Birthdays Kayaba? Really? She chuckled to herself, the man was insane, beyond unhinged, but he had added something so menial, mundane even. She had never celebrated her own, from her perspective, there was no reason to. Cascade shrugged, her feet leading her where they willed. She looked all around town as they wandered.

There was plenty of see, people to meet, quests to seek. After her encounter with Reytac she had rested as he suggested. Her time had been well spent with Ascension, he had certainly kept her busy. It had been nice to relax after everything. She soured thinking back to her episode on the crow trail. She still didn't fully understand it, it had been the first time she ever experienced such a thing, but thankfully nothing had happened since. Sure a few tears here and there, but it was all part of the healing process surely. She couldn't mope forever. Was she 100%, no, but was she better? Definitely. The Raven danced on her shoulder, cawing gently. A notion he always did when something had caught his eye, either that or....

Ding

She stopped in her tracks, the menu popping up, a message envelope glowing back at her. She smirked looking up at her companion, she reached up giving him an appreciative scratch. "Thanks for the heads up Arenyx, you're very smart." With a flick of her hand she opened the message:

Hey, I found a quest down on the first floor. From what I can tell, it's a bit of spelunking to rescue a missing girl. You interested?

-Reytac

Reytac huh? Haven't seen him in awhile. she clicked her foot against the dirt, thinking. Guess we're going to save a little girl. She brought her finger to the menu, selecting 'Reply.'

@Reytac

Sure, where should I meet you?

-Cascade

After the reply was sent she figured it was time to head to floor one. She could wander there until he replied. She turned on her heel and made her way to the central portal, passing merchants, players, amd NPCs alike. Eventually she made it there.

"Teleport, town of beginnings." Blue flashed around her and before she knew it she was back. The town of beginnings welcomed her as it always had. She wandered aimlessly, hands folded behind her back. She smiled as she walked, greeting those she knew, nodding to those she didn't, and avoiding some altogether. She was still imprisoned, the corpse still laid next to her; rotting, she could be found and killed any day, but she didn't let those things bother her today, no, today was a fine day. Arenyx fluttered his wings before taking off, he had been itching to fly for awhile now. She laughed as she watched him soar in the sky.

"Having fun up there my friend?" she called. The raven cawed back at her, swooping about. She smiled, she was sure. Yes, it was certainly a fine day.
