[F1-PP] Unfamiliar familiarity | <<The First Few Lessons>>

It was different.

Among the bustling streets of Aincrad’s starting city walked Aeva, completely overwhelmed by the sea of players and NPC’s alike wandering the roads. She had been here before, hadn’t she? Her memory was still foggy of that time, so she wasn’t sure of anything. Yet the buildings and layout brought a sense of familiarity. Yes, this was definitely the city. It just wasn’t empty any longer. Still, she hadn’t explored the Town of Beginnings for very long back then, she had no idea where anything was! 

She thought coming back here might be a bad idea, considering what had happened the last time she was on floor 1, but seeing the town so lively put her at unexpected ease. She was still completely lost, but no longer afraid. It was a ghost town no longer. Even so she needed to start learning more about this world she had awoken into. What better place than the beginning? Yet even still Aeva looked like a fish out of water, glancing in every direction for a market or shop district. This was a rather large town, wasn’t it? They had to be everywhere. Despite that the snow-haired girl seemed to completely turn herself around, not exactly knowing how to navigate the menu’s helpful map. She had never touched a video game before trying SAO, so her menu and inventory were almost always forgotten about.

Almost.

Aeva caught a glimpse of passing players scrolling through their own menus and it reminded her they there was a map! What was the hand motion to open it again? For a moment Aeva forgot about the world around her and tried a variety of different movements with her hand in an attempt to bring open her menu, but she couldn’t remember the right one! So there she stood in the middle of the street waving her hand around to no effect, her brow furrowing with frustration. Some people passed her by with looks of confusion, not fully understanding what she was trying to do and went on with their day, quickly forgetting about her. She could have asked another player by this point, but at this point in her rising irritation it was about pride.
