[Holiday Event] The Return of the Kings

It was the most wonderful time of the year.

A thin layer of snow covered the streets and roofs of the Town of Beginnings. Seemingly from out of nowhere, tinsel and Christmas lights appeared under every awning, along the corners of every building. Millions of faerie lights glimmered in the perpetual twilight. On the wind, you can hear the soft tinkling of jingle bells, nestled firmly in the soft melodies of Silent Night and Deck the Halls and Jingle Bells. This was perhaps the only way to accurately track the passage of time in this digital prison. How many Christmases had come and gone and come again?

Cardinal, at least, had her mercies. The Holiday Spirit was an important, crucial salve against the year’s tumult. But there was another power at play. Far greater than Cardinal.

That soft music shifted. The tinkling of bells overtaken by the sickest of rifts and the most energetic of beats. The warm and cozy gave way to ominous menace. An explosion rocked the Town of Beginnings, centered on the main square. A massive Christmas Tree burst into existence, decked and dazzling. At the top rested a crown, beneath its laurels a veritable mountain of presents. A Christmas Tree, a mountain of presents, and three thrones. Sat upon them was a power greater than that which kept Aincrad functioning.

 

“POWERRRRRRR!” 

A voice rang out, cracking the air like thunder. A hulking, green brute donned in both crown and santa hat sat upon the leftmost throne. To his right was a boar at the height of his physical peak, a sahagin decked out in dope shades, a doper chain, and an impossibly dope cigar of dubious legality. Beholding their power and majesty, some might feel a pang of familiarity. Like they had crossed paths with these gods before. Like they had come ever-so-close to destruction before.

But these gods - these Kings - are not mere avatars of destruction. To consider them so far understated their mystique. Undersold their majesty. They were the very concept of that which they chose to embody. Mercy, destruction, malice, or grace.

But today, in this most wonderful season, they were generosity. The Kings come bearing gifts. Do not insult them with refusal.

Event Bonuses

Rain Minion’s Missing Minions
Rain Minion’s sheep have run amok. He needs help wrangling them back into their pen. While participating in any thread during the Event Period, you may make a standard Gathering Roll to locate and capture a missing minion on a natural LD:10+. For every sheep captured, Rain Minion #12 will pay 10k Col and 5 Materials. Total sheep found will be tracked and tallied for a secret reward at the end of the event period.

King’s Feast
Banquet Tables are piled high with food and sweets and beverages. For the duration of the event period, by using a Post Action at the beginning of the thread, you may give yourself the effects of three standard consumables. The King’s Feast will also boost final EXP by 5% when used this way, stacking with existing EXP bonuses.
