[SP-F1] <<A Swordsman Returns>>

Ryuu is on his own in the west field looking for wild boars. 'I need to increase my skill. I was a tester, but it has been a while since I was here. I should start from the basics.' He scans the field a second time hoping to find at least a group of two boars. Upon finishing his second scan, I spotted a lone boar. 'Hmm... Not very smart. Are ya? An intelligent animal would roam in a group. It increases survival rates. Well, I guess I have no room to talk either. I'm out here on my own too.'

With his sword equipped, he charges to boar. "Hhhiiyaaaa!!" He thrusts forward with his sword. Right as he finished his blow, a new boar enters the playing field. Apparently the animal wasn't completely alone. 'Ugh, at least I should still be able to beat them both.'

The second boar charged him, squealing like an idiot. 'When did you get so cocky?' Ryuu spun around in an attempt to dodge, but the boar simply continued on its path of aggression. It still appeared as though it would hit Ryuu right in the back, and it did.

Ryuu was sent face first into to ground."Ahh!! How!?" As he started to recover and get up, the first boar charged. This one more enraged than the other one. It seems to come faster than any boar in the beta. Ryuu tried to roll out of the way of the stampeding beast.

Ryuu was now back on his feet, and he was angry. He charged the boar he attacked the first time.

'I don't remember these things being this frustrating. I'll kill them all, but right now I can't let my anger cloud my judgement. Anger is one of the leading causes of recklessness which leads to death.' He jumped into the air and brought his sword down on the boar.

The final boar was enraged by the death of its companion. "REEEEAAATTTTT!!" It charged headlong towards Ryuu. 'Stupid beast, letting its emotions control its actions. That is a good way to get killed, and I'll be happy to oblige.' Ryuu leaped to the right to dodge to oncoming boar, but it corrected its path too quickly, and he was almost perfectly in line with it.

As the boar passed by, Ryuu swung his sword horizontally at the monster. "Now then, I will put an end to your infernal squealing!" He run with the boar repeatedly striking trying to kill the thing. He continued to run with it in order to limit its ability to attack and maximize his mobility.

The boar sharply darted to the side, as to run into Ryuu, and to stop him in his tracks. "REEEEAAAAAATTTTTT!!!" Ryuu was fed up with this thing's constant squealing. "SHUT UP!! I can't even think with your annoying noise assaulting my ears!" Ryuu started to lose his cool which was fair uncommon for him. He can normally keep his calm no matter what situation, but this pig's squealing must have hit a nerve or something.

Ryuu just wanted the noise to stop. it was so annoying this boar was twice as load as the other one, and it constantly was doing it. The other boar at least only did it when he was attacking. This one just did it no matter what was going on. "Will you just be quiet?! There is no point in all this. You will die no matter what, so SHUT IT!" Ryuu jumped into the air again and spun with an axis parallel to the ground, making his sword more like a saw. "HIIYYYAA!"

He missed, but he was expecting that. He stuck his sword into the ground and used the leverage to change directions. Since he had landed in front of the boar, he was facing it head on when he finished his maneuver. He started run toward the boar, with his sword ready to deliver the final blow. As they met, he thrusted his arm forward. "SILENCE!!"

"Ugh!! What? How did I miss that strike? I could have sworn I timed it perfectly." He was sprawled on the ground, and getting up, as the boar turned around. "How is something so low level actually giving me a problem? I am supposed to be a master strategist and an expert fighter." He sighed. "I guess the system of skills must be brutally applied to this world." The boar charged him again, but he was prepared. He sidestepped and stabbed at the beast's ribs.

He missed again, probably because the boar's injured gait that through off its normal bouncing strides. He was determined to turn this into a one sided fight. He ran after the boar. Then suddenly it turned around. 'I can't afford to miss this next strike. I would be a disgrace to all beta testers everywhere if I couldn't even kill a simple boar.' He attempted his head on charge, this time more effectively accessing the systems skills. "Rage Spike!!" Upon uttering these words, he stabbed at the monster.

Upon finishing, He let out a sigh of relief. "Ahhh... Well, that is finally over. It definitely took me look enough. Hmm?" He brought his attention to the screen that was brought up after he killed the first boar. "Oh. I got two Boar Hides and went up a few levels. I guess that's a start, but I'm going to need more than that to recreate my beta get up. I'm also going to need some Wolf Hides, maybe a few fangs and such." He moved his attention to his health bar. He realized that he should probably replenish his health. He pulled up his menu and accessed his bread. "I wonder if it has taste. The beta's food was tasteless." He chomped down. "...WHOA!!! It does have a taste!" He quickly finished it off.

Ryuu started to scan for more monsters to attack, as well as a rock that might lead him to a good vein of iron. He spotted a group of three wolves over by a rock that he thought glinted for a second. 'I need to get to that rock and those hides wouldn't be too bad either. If I got all of these I might be able to rebuild my favorite armor, the Forgotten Hero.' Ryuu still had his sword out and was preparing to charge these three wolves, but then decided he would have a better chance trying to lure maybe one or two and then have the third join later. The only problem with this was that wolves, unlike boars, were extremely aggressive. He would have to go along the outskirts of their vision and then barely enter it so that he wouldn't draw the other wolves too quickly.

Ryuu took the route that took him into some tall grass. He thought it would be better to sacrifice a silent approach for one that is unseen. He also knew that no matter what he did at least one wolf would approach, but since it would only be approaching a sound, and Ryuu was upwind so it couldn't smell him, it would approach less aggressively. Ryuu was almost to where the wolves were when he heard a rustling in the grass. He had anticipated that this would happen and had already planned what he would do.

He planted his feet and spun, slashing outward in every direction with his sword. This cleared the grass and hit the wolf apparently. Just as Ryuu heard the whimper of the wounded animal, he took a step back and swung in a circle again as to widen his battle area. He knew he couldn't fight three wolves in such a small clearing.

The wolf howled, drawing in the others. Ryuu heard the rustle of the grass as the other two came running. "Ugh! This is going to be a long day." The wolf that he hit stepped into the clearing, growling and angry. Its face was twisted up in a snarl that bared its teeth, and what ugly things they were, all yellow and miss aligned.

Ryuu stepped back and grabbed his sword with two hands. "Hey buddy. All I want is your fur and maybe a fang or two." Ryuu suddenly shifted his weight and started to dash forward. Still holding the sword with two hands, he dropped it to his side in an attempt to gain offensive superiority. He slashed upward but his blade got caught on a clump of uncut grass which slowed his attack just enough that the wolf was able to dodge it.

The wolf spun around and bit him in the back of his ankle, restricting his movement, while the other two lept toward him, slashing at him with their claws. "Ack!! You little bastards!" Ryuu kicked his bitten leg back, nailing the wolf in the nose. "I hope you are satisfied with life so far, because it will be ending soon for you three." Ryuu looked around, calculating his chances as well as planning his next attack. It only took a half a second for an idea to pop into his head. He charged forward, attempting to feint to the left. It succeeded and the wolves were off balance. They all quickly turned toward him, but it was too late. Ryuu used his speed to close the gap between him and the injured wolf. He brought his sword up to his head as he ran, and thrust it forward upon reaching his target. "Hiya!" The blade sunk into the wolf's well groomed hide, leaving a bright red gash.

The other wolves were angered by the brutal attack on their comrade. They charged forward, but Ryuu was too fast. He was a speed based fighter after all, and now that he had regained his competence with the system, he was quite formidable. He swiftly dodged the two wolves, letting them get close as to feel like they had an advantage for a moment. He then spun around, evading an attack from he injured one. He brought his sword down again, cutting into the snout of he injured wolf. It whimpered as the blade left. A smile appeared on Ryuu's face, as he jumped back and admired his handy work. 'They are actually rather pathetic. Why was I having such a hard time with them before?'
