» About: Born in Osaka, Maikeru's parents were working hard to live as a middle-class family. Since Maikeru, was the 4th person to the household (his sister Anaberu was 14 when he was born), his parents were almost gone pretty much every single day, working day and night, to support their family in the overly populated Osaka. Anaberu was always there to watch over Maikeru, all the way until she got married. When she got married, Maikeru was left all alone in his home, as a 10 year old, doing nothing all day.

While he was staying home alone one day, Maikeru looked out his window, and saw a strangely large crowd down the street. There was a lot of sound, and it just sounded horrible, but curiosity took over Maikeru and he went to go see what the commotion about. As he got closer, the sounds became better sounding, almost like, music. Maikeru never heard this kind of music before, but as he got closer and closer, he saw a band. Not a regular orchestra, but a jazz band. Maikeru didn't know what this was at the time, as he listened to the music, he became in love with it, he watched the band with intensity, looking and what instruments they were. Saxophones, trombones, and trumpets, then, all of a sudden, the band got quiet with only the drums, bass, and guitar, and what sounds like, a really cool and deep melody. Maikeru looks over and sees a baritone saxophonist, standing up, rocking, playing a really funky solo, everyone is cheering, and Maikeru is just standing there in awe.

Ever since that day, Maikeru started studying jazz, learning rhythms in his head, humming jazz solos whenever, and everywhere, he cant stop thinking about jazz. He picked up a System 54 Black Ice baritone saxophone when he was 12 from a yard sale, also got some reeds, and went straight home. He started practicing, struggling in the beginning, but soon learns how to get notes out, he figures out the solos that always run through his head, he was a natural at this after he learned how.

Maikeru has been doing jazz gigs all around Osaka since he was 13, he found some friends as school who also happen to be in the local jazz band as the rhythm section. Maikeru has always been fond of technology, especially since he has to deal with the electronics whenever he starts a gig. Maikeru likes to also play video games, see if his creative mind will burst into something in the video game worlds. He has a passion of going solo, but also making people happy, and to aim for a goal when doing a task, just like in jazz. When Sword Art Online came out, Maikeru got in line, "cut his way" to the front (people actually just let him go straight through), and got the Nervegear and SAO. NExt thing you know, he was in bed, commanding "Link Start!"

» Virtues:

. Creative Minded: Maikeru always creates new concepts in his head for jazz music. This skill can also be used for being creative anywhere else, and Maikeru will check to see if it works or not. With this active mind he uses for jazz, he can also use his mind to think up ideas and concepts for anything, either small and easy, or big and complex.

. Respect: In jazz, you must understand that everyone plays a different style, and so that you must respect it. This helps Maikeru respect everyone, not just jazz music, because he understands that everyone is different in their own unique way.

. Commitment: Maikeru stays committed to jazz, as if it is his own life. In SAO, Maikeru needs to understand that he needs to stay committed to everything he does in the game, in order to live.

. Callous: Ever since his sister left, Maikeru has been basically alone. He refuses to get close to anyone anymore, because his sister was the only one who actually looked after his life. He doesn't want to get close to anyone anymore because he is afraid they might leave him again. It is hard to gain his trust, but once you do, you better not betray him.

. Absentminded: Maikeru always keeps his head clear so he can fit more ideas into his head, the thing is, he cannot remember much because he is always clearing his head. He does not like to have so much in his head, or else he will feel crowded, stuffed, unable to do work. He needs to stay light on his feel and quick with his movements.

. Solemn: Even though Maikeru always clears his head, he can pay attention and stay on task in some way. He will have his mind set to stay serious in tough situations, and to lighten up but still be alert whenever he is in a lighter situation. He knows how to act during any case, fun or serious. He will either be fun and enjoyable and friendly, or serious with the goal in mind. Either way, he is very focused.
