(Sp-F1) Applepicking

Recommended Posts

Arekkusu was a boy of habit, especially the old ones. In the beginning of the game, he picked the apples off branches in order to survive on something other than bread and water. The beginners bread and water may have been fine, but there were many things natural to a human other than that. Considering the ability to make a video game into one that only spews out death, Arekkusu would figure that they had enough sense to make the natural foods taste delicious.

Arekkusu looked up at an old apple tree he picked fruit off of. It doesn't seem to have an recent history with players since Arekkusu noticed so many apples from up top. Arekkusu leapt onto the tree and used it as a support for him to jump off of. He landed on a branch that bent when Arekkusu landed on it. Arekkusu quickly picked off two apples from it and jumped back onto the ground.

-Obtained 2 Apples-

Arekkusu then looked back to see some enemies running at him. Wolves they seemed to be. Arekkusu was on the first floor, a few wolves aren't too hard for him to handle. He then decided to make a game out of it. How many apples can he pick off while he fought the wolves?

No landing on branches and no shaking the tree branches. Arekkusu thought to himself. Then the pack of wolves were at Arekkusu, aiming for the neck.

  • Rolled a 10 on the d10 (battle) dice.
  • Rolled a 3 on the d10 (mob) dice.

Arekkusu counted 7 of the beasts. This was most certainly an unusual ambush. Especially for a party in which level ones must fight. He calculated the angle at which they were all coming in, then Arekkusu was ready. The first wolf jumped at him, in which Arekkusu sliced out of the way and killed it at the same time. The rest didn't even come close when they jumped since Arekkusu stepsided quickly for each one.

"The apples." Arekkusu mentioned to himself remembering his challenge. Arekkusu had to get past the gang of wolves first. He dropped his shield on his right hand and ran through the pack of wolves, hoping not to make a mistake and get ambushed.

  • Rolled a 6 on the d10 (battle) dice.
  • Rolled a 5 on the d10 (mob) dice.

Arekkusu lost a bit too much energy from the attempt and with a last effort before he was ready to take damage, he jumped. He jumped to the end and quickly ran up the tree, only to end up falling to the ground. He was too tired to make such a complicate move succeed. "Damn." Arekkusu said. "Looks like I'll have to cut through you all then... right after I try again."

Arekkusu jumped this time, not even using the tree as support. He tipped an apple that hung low enough for Arekkusu to tap. It fell down and Arekkusu caught it mid-fall. Does that count? Arekkusu thought. Well since it was now in his inventory, it apparently was.

Arekkusu ran forward quickly, the wolves ready to defend their territory. Arekkusu threw his blade straight forward so he can cut through the pack and get to his shield. The wolves did get out of the way, giving Arekkusu a moment to run. Arekkusu almost made it until he stumbled and lost footing, causing him to fall onto his shield face first, which really knocked him back. (1 Damage).

Arekkusu grabbed his shield and held it awkwardly above him so he can avoid the wolves who jumped to pounce him.

  • Rolled a 3 on the d10 (battle) dice.
  • Rolled a 2 on the d10 (mob) dice.

The shield was hard to hold up, especially when heavy wolves were jumping onto it. But Arekkusu stood his ground and held it until he felt 6 of the jumps. The he stood back onto his feet.

Arekkusu looked at the wolves. They really wore him down, though they really didn't do too much. He grabbed his blade from the ground slowly, then he quickly put his head down when he wasn't looking. He then looked back up and they already aimed for Arekkusu again.

  • Rolled a 5 on the d10 (battle) dice. (+1 Accuracy= Success)
  • Rolled a 9 on the d10 (mob) dice.

Arekkusu felt the attack again. This time he fell back with his items all over the field except for his sword. Arekkusu then saw one above him, ready to stab it. He pierced through it, then it split into many data pieces right at his face.

Arekkusu stood up from the ground again. He still had plenty of fight left in him. His blade was still in his hand, and while it was that way, he will finish the fight he somewhat started. How the hell am I losing to these? Arekkusu thought. He was embarrassed to even take damage on the first floor. He still was able to fight, and it didn't matter how he feels as long as he is alive. Arekkusu saw another 2 wolves coming his way.

  • Rolled a 10 on the d10 (battle) dice.
  • Rolled a 4 on the d10 (mob) dice.

Arekkusu took a slice to the side as his attack with his eyes closed. The next thing he heard were two more data shattered, showing Arekkusus success in the attack.

Arekkusu looked at the three wolves that remained. He didn't need his shield for this. But first... Arekkusu jumped up from the tree and snatched an apple from a branch and smiled proudly. That's three so far. When he landed, the wolves were ready, Arekkusu was too this time.

  • Rolled a 10 on the d10 (battle) dice.
  • Rolled a 8 on the d10 (mob) dice.

Arekkusu took a small hit to the chest and he returned the attack with a slice of his own. It pierced through the wolf and had it disappear as well. Arekkusu now had two to deal with.

Arekkusu now decided to charge at the wolves. He then jumped over them to trick them into thinking that he would attack. When Arekkusu landed, he swung behind him to use the element of surprise.

  • Rolled a 7 on the d10 (battle) dice.
  • Rolled a 2 on the d10 (mob) dice.

He then took out the wolf without even thinking. The pack has been brought down to 1. The first floor took him down to 13 health, which Arekkusu may not be proud about, but at least he got somewhere.

So Arekkusu. Why did the chicken cross the road? Arekkusu thought in his mind. He slowly walked to the shield in which he had dropped while the wolf just stared at him. Arekkusu knew that is it even dared to cross him, it would end up dead like its brothers. When Arekkusu bent on his knees to pick up the weapon, the wolf charged at at. Arekkusu hid a small grin.

"Stupid." Arekkusu said.

  • Rolled a 5 on the d10 (battle) dice. (+ 1 Accuracy= Success)
  • Rolled a 2 on the d10 (mob) dice.

Arekkusu spun his body around with his sword hand extended, causing him to spin his blade around in a circular motion. The blade cut through the final wolf before it could get to Arekkusu, which ended the wolf pack in which Arekkusu slayed. To get three apples in which it then fought seven wolves to do so. Arekkusu thought to himself with pride. He then continued to pick apples.

"So lets see." Arekkusu said trying to analyze what just happened. "I took damage... 4 damage... on the first floor... from wolves who had their attacks low... one of the attacks actually hurt... seriously?"

Arekkusu looked at his stats to confirm his statement, which made him depressed a bit. He then heard the tree rustle from the top. A startled Arekkusu slipped from the tree and landed on his knees and hands. He then wiped the dirt off of himself. He then felt a push from behind, in which Arekkusu reacted with a sword unsheathing and a jump away from the character.

It was was seemed to be an NPC. She was a little girl, just about half of Arekkusus height. The first person Arekkusu meets that is smaller and younger than him is a character that isn't even real, now THAT depressed him.

"Hey there little one." Arekkusu said, bending his knees down to meet the child face to face. "Do you have a name?"

The girl looked down to the ground with a sad facial expression on her face. Did Arekkusu put her down? Now he began to feel real bad about it. But then the girl pointed to the apple I held in my hand. She looked up at me with the same facial expression.

"So you want an apple?" Arekkusu asked. He sheathed his sword into the socket and put out his hand with the apple in it. He placed it gently in the girls hands and the girl bit into the apple with delight in her eyes. When she chewed, she grinned and her eyes were closed tightly with delight. Once she finished her little snack, she spoke.

"Aurora."

Before Arekkusu could continue any further with the conversation, the girl turned her back and walked away. Arekkusu wondered what that was about. He called out to the girl.

"Are you sure you'll be all right walking back on your own?" Arekkusu asked the girl. "I can escort you if you would like."

The girl turned her back and just grinned at Arekkusu. "I'm Aurora." Aurora said to Arekkusu. With that, she continued walking until she got out of Arekkusus eyesight. He felt a bit sad to see her go, but she didn't even exist. That was a bad idea, creating bonds with those who don't even exist. Even though they weren't real, Arekkusus feeling were. And to mix them wasn't too good an idea.

Arekkusu looked back to the apple tree and wondered if he needed any more apples. He counted in his inventory to find six apples. That seems like a good gain. He had 2 to start with. He picked up his items and walked away. He couldn't stop thinking about Aurora, even if she wasn't real, does she have some kind of background story to share? If she had such a personality, doesn't she see things? Or was that the way she was programmed? It was also a mystery on how she could even survive on her own to where Arekkusu was at. She must be pretty smart in order to avoid the enemies. But still... nothing adds up.

This time, he looked at the tree and realized what a sword could've done. It he took out a whole branch, he could have all the fruit from that branch. Arekkusu then stopped himself from even trying it. He knew what could happen, that branch was an infinite source of fruit, but to be so reckless can stop the infinite parade. He then went back to picking the apples peacefully. Once he finished, he no longer felt the need to stay any longer and left the floor.
