[SP-F1] Hunting Trip

Recommended Posts

Ymir wasn't necessarily bored, yet he didn't know what to do. Most people in MMORPG games grind mobs when they're bored, but SAO is different. He could die if he took too many risks, so randomly battling wasn't the best idea. He thought about what he wanted to do, to no avail. Ymir finally gave in to the concept of grinding, so he left the starting city to find a nice low level mob.

After some time walking and inspecting his menu, Ymir came across a weak looking monster. On closer inspection, it was just a simple level 1 boar. This would be the easiest thing in the entire game to kill, so he readied his heavy two handed battleaxe.

Ymir approached the boar with a quick jog. After a couple seconds, he reached the boar. He stepped back, pulling his battleaxe behind him. He then swung the heavy weapon in a sideways crescent, a move he considered to be a basic attack in most RPGs. The attack normally landed on the boar, instantly killing it. However, Ymir didn't notice another boar that had approached him. The other boar leaped out at him, but it completely missed.

Ymir and the boar leaped at eachother. The boar readied it's head to ram into Ymir, while Ymir raised his axe. He swung downwards mid-air, only to miss and send himself flying. The swing apparently made Ymir accidentally dodge the boar's attack. On the up side, the boar missed him. On the down side, he missed the boar.

Ymir jumped as high as he could (which wasn't very high). He lifted his battleaxe over his head while falling to the ground. Right before he landed on the boar, he swung his axe straight downwards. The axe literally split the boar in two, nearly instantly shattering it. Ymir laughed at how easy these low level mobs were and decided to continue killing them. It was as good as free EXP and col.

Ymir was slightly surprised. Even though the monsters were the absolute weakest in the game, they were still insanely easy to kill. It didn't matter, though. Ymir was only benefited by this! He sat down and opened his menu. Despite fiddling with it while looking for enemies, he only had a slight idea of how to use it. This was weird for him since he played many MMOs. He located his inventory and materialized a piece of bread. Ymir touched the bread and clicked the "Inspect" button. It had a low durability, so he launched it at the ground. It shattered into tiny fractals, like the boars. Interesting. He got up and began searching for enemies again. Soon, he finds a wolf.

Ymir normally approached the wolf, thinking about a new attack to use. Freedom of movement was one of the highlights of SAO for him - he could use whatever attack strategy he saw fit, instead of set skills. However, the wolf displayed it's insane speed by quickly circling to Ymir's back. Of course, it wasn't quick enough to escape Ymir's sight - he did a 360, holding his battleaxe away from his body. It hit the wolf, dealing basic damage.

The wolf ran at Ymir out of blind rage. Ymir dodged the wolf's blind slashes, despite his slow speed. He lifts his axe, performing the most basic known to pretty much anyone with arms. He swings straight down using the weight of the battleaxe. The wolf dies, releasing a display of blue shards. Ymir is impressed with himself for not getting hit a single time.
