(PP-F4) {Wynter and DrakeWing}

Recommended Posts

Wynter walks rough the snowy yet calming field. Her feet shuffled along, not even making individual footprints, but more like dragging marks. Her mind was blank and her limbs were growing numb from the cold. She stopped walking and looked at her health bar. Dangerously low. She sighed and kept walking. 'I can do this...just a little longer and I'll be back in a safe zone...' She thought to herself. Little did she know she was going in the wrong direction. After a while her arms and legs had lost all feeling and she fell face first into the freezing cold snow.

Drake had been out killing mobs on floor four when he had decided to take a break. The mobs had been very difficult to fight, but he survived. He had decided that a nice walk would do him well, and had been walking now for quite some time. As he walked, he saw what appeared to be a figure lying in the snow, and approached curiously. As he neared, he could tell that the figure was a girl, judging from the hair length, and instantly felt the urge to help her. Rushing forwards, he knelt down and said with concern, "Hey, are you okay?"

Her eyes fluttered open as she looked up slightly. Her eyesight was hazy and it scared her. Was she dead? Did that world finally finish her off? "Who are you?" She whispered. However, the voice she heard was so foreign to her. It was quiet and small. It sounded almost like a whimper. Once she snapped back into the moment she tried moving her arms but it hurt badly, causing her to wince.

Drake shook his head and said, "My name is not important." He could tell she was in pain, and he knew she was weak at the moment. Drake wrapped his arm around her and, as gently as possible, lifted her to her feet. As he helped her up, he readjusted how he was hold her so that she could lean on him for support. He said soothingly, "Alright, we are going to go to somewhere safe, and you can recuperate there." Looking around, he saw a cluster of trees and bushes that created an area where there was very little snow and cold winds were weakened.

He gestured towards their goal, and waited for her to start moving, so as to not drag her, which would worsen her condition.

She cried out in pain and gripped onto his shirt. The blood started flowing to her limbs and she got back onto her feet. "I-I'm not dead...?" Her teeth chattered as she whispered the words in shock. Once she realized he was leading her to a little covered area she started walking...well, limping, towards it. Every step sent a new wave of sharp pain and cold through her limbs and body but she didn't stop moving and she didn't show the pain on her face. She completely forgot the other player was there until she noticed he was doing most of the work, which made it occur to her exactly how bad of shape she was in.

As they arrived, he asked, "Do you want to lay down?" He looked at her, and knew that she was past critical condition, this was far worse. He knew he had to help her, help her recuperate. Drake slipped his jacket off and wrapped it around her, hoping it might keep her warm. This situation could go downhill fast, and Drake knew he had to be really careful.

She shakes her head. "N-no...I-I..." She stopped suddenly when coughing racked through her chest and ribs. She leaned her arm and shoulder against a nearby tree before slowly sliding down it. "O-On sec-second thought..." She sat up against it before the coughing finally ceased. The pain was no longer sharp but was a numbing feeling instead, except it still hurt. She wasn't aware if it was good or bad. The warmth of his jacket made her teeth stop chattering and she pulled it closer to her. "Thank you..."

As she sat there, Drake picked up excess shrubbery and blocked the entrance to the enclosure as best as he could, which caused the winds to have even less of an effect. Drake was cold, but he didn't care. He was in perfect condition, but the girl, she appeared to be unnaturally close to death. Drake knew the cold wouldn't do actual damage to her, but it was still cold. It could still be felt. As he stood a few feet from the girl, he constantly looked from her to a patch where he could see outside the enclosure. They may have to stay there a while, unless she makes a quick recovery.

She looked at the other player, debating on engaging in a conversation with him. He looked nice but despite what he's done to help her so far, she was trying to not trust so easily. Nonetheless, she could've died if it wasn't for him and she was grateful. "What's your name?" She whispered barely loud enough for him to hear. "I'm Wynter."

He laughed and said brusquely, "Drake. Just Drake." He laughed at her name, and said apologetically, "I'm sorry if that seemed rude. It's just funny because of this floors setting, winter." He started towards her, but stopped and asked in a more gentle voice than before, "How are you holding up?" He felt something that he hadn't felt in a while, but quickly pushed it out of his mind. He would deal with his compassion later.

She laughed softly. "I was wondering when someone would bring that up." When he started walking towards her she tensed up slightly, more of a flinch than anything. His voice calmed her and made her body relax. "Well...so far so good. I was trying to head back to town. A battle left my health pretty low and then the cold made my limbs go numb so bad until I couldn't even walk anymore, let alone stand. I'm pretty lucky you showed up." She glanced at him for a moment to see his reaction. "Could you grab me some small sticks? I'm going to try to start a fire." Wynter sat up on her knees and moved away from the tree a little bit. All was going well until she started coughing again and the sharp pain came back to her ribs.

Drake listened to her short tale showing little to no emotion at all, and when asked to grab sticks, started to gather them in a rigid, awkward fashion. After he gathered the wood, he set it in a pile in front of her and said, "Don't put in too much effort, you might cause yourself more pain." He sat down, several feet from her and stared at the pile of sticks, unsure of what to say or do next, now that a basic plan had been formed.

Wynter forced the coughs down long enough to start a small fire. Once the fire started she smiled softly. "You must be freezing. Here." She Gave him his jacket back. Wynter was a very independent person, and that wasn't very good for her type. She never liked accepting help even though at times she needed it. She pulled her knees to her chest and stared into the fire, thinking about whatever crossed her mind.

Drake shrugged and took the jacket, tossing it back beside her when she wasn't noticing. He knew that eventually the fire would die, and the cold would seep back in. Drake drew his sword and stuck the tip of the blade into the fire, propping it straight upwards. He smiled at the reference he had made, but quickly started frowning as he realized that he was acting silly. He looked at Wynter once more, and said, "Well, you're not the only one who fought mobs. But, unfortunately, you didn't fare as well as I did."

"That's an understatement." She joked. "You should lighten up a bit, Drake. I don't bite. My word." She looked at him with a teasing grin. "And I'm sorry by the way." She was almost positive the last thing he wanted to do was have to look out for such a low leveler. "I'm sure my health with regenerate soon."

Drake shook his head and said with a completely straight face, "Even if you did bite me, it wouldn't do damage." As the girl apologized, he spoke with disdain obvious in his voice, "Do not apologize for something out of your control. You were hurt, I was wandering, I helped you. There is no need to apologize." Drake found her behavior odd, and couldn't help but smile as he said jokingly, "Is your NerveGear on properly? You seem... funny."

Just as Drake finished stains Wynter wa odd, a pair of wolves appeared from under the snow due to the blood from Wynter. Both began to approach the pair. One leapt at them growling, but from the tundra was a whipping sound as a flash of red cloth flew between them.

When she went to reply to Drake she got cut off by two wolfs jumping at them. Wynter stood up and drew her sword in a hurry. Just when they attacked she only saw a flash of red and one of the wolves being hit. "Malakath..." She whispered his name in relief and looked at her health bar. So far no health had regenerated. Not good. She walked to the tree behind her and leaned on it again. Her heart was pounding from the fear and moving so fast.

Malakath only managed to get out "pleased to see me then?" Before the second wolf attacked at Malakath. Going to grab at his leg and pull it from under him. Malakath was not exactly prepared for this and had his leg grabbed.

Malakath managed to kick his leg backward while the wolf was just about to bite down, forcing it to release him before chopping at it with his Khopesh. The first wolf had now gotten up and was headed for the pair together. Malakath yelled "Drake! Protect Wynter! Fight!"
