Kou was born the second son to the head of a technology research group in Tokyo, Japan. For as long as he could remember, the cutting edge of technology was a central part of his life, from the latest gadgets and game systems to, as he grew older, the latest revolutions of computer programming and engineering. The former interested him much more however, which was just as well since his older brother already planned to, and then did, go to school for computer engineering to join that aspect of their father's work.

Keeping connected to his older brother proved quite beneficial one exciting summer, when the amazing new system, the Nervegear, hit store shelves, and the net was set ablaze with images and video taken from the beta for Sword Art Online, the world's first fully VR MMO. Getting one of the systems was easy enough with Kou's connections, and all that was left was to wait for the game's proper launch in November. That fateful day couldn't come soon enough as university classes seemed to drag time to a standstill, but then came the day. After a night of camping out with some university friends outside the local store, one of the 10,000 copies of the much anticipated game was in his hands. All that remained was to insert the disk, put on the Nervegear, and "link...START!"

» Virtues:

Tech Savy. Kou is quite familiar with how computer software, and to a lesser extent hardware, operates.

Determined. When he has his sights set on a goal, Kou will do whatever it takes to achieve it.

Honest. While keeping secrets is one thing, Kou doesn't see the point in actively lying to his fellow players about anything.

» Flaws:

Elitist. Kou Has a tendency to disregard other players he feels don't know as much as him, particularly regarding technological knowledge.

Impatient. Kou doesn't like having to wait around for things to happen, and would much prefer a straightforward plan of rushing into battle over sitting idly by for an opportunity to arise.

Inferiority Complex. Despite being on good terms with him, Kou was always aware of how much better his parents treated his older brother. He doesn't like to be reminded of this, and impulsively dislikes players he sees as overbearingly superior to himself.
