[PP-F4] Winter Wonderland (Kotori, Kasier)

Recommended Posts

Helios smiled as a snowflake carefully landed on his face. He was lying down in the snow outside of Snowfrost Town and watching as the cold snow hit the ground. The fourth floor was his favorite out of all of them. He loved the pretty scenery, and it wasn't just the girls, it was the buildings too. But his biggest reason for coming there was the snow. In the real world, he loved winter and snow, so it would make sense that he'd love it in SAO too. Spending most of his time on that floor, he had eventually found a comfortable spot on a hill under some trees. From his position, he could see most of the town. He found it entertaining to watch all of the tiny people beneath him hang out. Although he only had a scarf and no other warm clothes, Helios never found it extremely cold. This was most likely due to how often he came to the floor. He had almost fallen asleep before he heard something above him. He looked up and watched as a pile of snow came falling out of a tree, landing on him. "Well, that's just great!" he exclaimed.

Floor four. The snowy and cold habitat that was popular among the thousands of players in Aincrad. Kotori couldn't blame it since it was a great floor to be in. Of course she couldn't stand the constant cold 24/7. It was a just a nice place to be although after spending so much time in it, she had a grown a bit tired of it. There was snow and ice and all things nice, but that was it. She had grown a liking of floor two, where she ended up putting her cafe. The forest that surrounded it was beautiful and felt like nature itself. Still, this floor wasn't bad at all so she had just taken a light trip through the frosty forest again. This was the area seldom traveled which was good for the few people who did traverse. The vast landscape allowed a variety of adventures and running to occur even though the girl hadn't come for that.

Noises.. Odd. She had though she had been alone. It sounded like snow falling although it couldn't be an avalanche simply because of the slope of the ground where she stood. Talking. A person was nearby. She would need to keep her guard although it could always be a person lost or just walking around as well. She walked more quietly as the crunching of the snow below her foot became less and less audible. Looking around at the maze of trees around her, she kept to being quiet.

If you've never sat underneath a pile of snow before, it's not the comfiest position to be in. Helios sighed as he attempted to dig himself out from under the snow. The only body part sticking out was his head, lucky enough for him, so he could still yell for help. He looked around to see if he could find anyone but some snow was blocking his vision, so it was hard to tell. "Anybody want to help me out!?" he shouted. After yelling that, some more snow landed on him. He was starting to get cold and wet, and that lead to him being unhappy. He sighed and leaned his head back in the snow. Eventually, he got so bored of sitting there, he started talking to the snow. "Well snow, this is what you've done to me. Looks like i'm going to die here. What a drag." he sighed, sounding disinterested. Out of nowhere, a squirrel quickly ran up the snow and sat there, staring at the noirette. "Well, at least I've got you, squirrel. We can die here together." he muttered. The squirrel stood still for a second before swiftly climbing on top of the boy's head.

It was sweet relief to find that the person speaking was not a PKer or she assumed not be as they would not reveal their position at all like this player was. Listening into the words that this unknown said allowed to Kotori figure out their location and gender. The girl dashed through the trees before arriving at the location of the boy. He seemed to be in quite the predicament as he was literally stuck in snow with his head sticking out from it, almost as if he was buried there and then left to rot. Not to mention a squirrel was finding his hair to be a sizeable home to make its residence on. Nonetheless, he needed help and she wasn't going to just leave him there like trash. "Seems you've gotten yourself stuck.. Do you want any help there since you seem a bit cozy there." she decided to speak out in the directions of this player.

The young man looked at the girl that had stumbled upon him. "No, I actually live here. Of course I need help!" he said sarcastically and laughed lightly to show he was kidding. The squirrel apparently didn't like his idea of getting up and bit his nose. Although it wasn't hard enough to injure the boy, it did still hurt. "Ow!" he shouted. Quickly, the small animal let go of Helios and climbed back on top of his head. "Squirrels these days." he muttered. He then remembered there was another player looking over him. "Oh, by the way, i'm Helios." he told the young woman who stood to the right of him. His green cloth clothes were soaking wet from the snow, but the boy was at the point of not caring about how cold he was. He examined the pretty young girl carefully. She had black hair, like him, and was a lot shorter than him. He didn't seem to recognize her from anywhere and she had a green cursor above her head, so he felt safe around her. "What's your name?" the male asked curiously.

Kotori couldn't help but giggle as the fiery squirrel decided to bite the boy's nose in retialation for him trying to get up from his spot in the snow. If she didn't know any better, she would think that the animal was his familiar and they were stuck together. They weren't however and it just made the player's hair its temporary residence. The player decided to introduce himself as "Helios" so before offering any assistance, the girl decided to do so as well. "Nice to meet you, my name's Kotori." There was no need to waste time however since he needed help getting out of his predicament and she could do just that. "If you could get your arm out of the snow, I could try pulling you out of it." she offered as she extended her hand out so that he could grab it and get out of the pile of snow that acted as a blanket to Helios.

He tried wiggling his arm out from under the snow, but it was no use. It was not coming out no matter how hard he tried. He watched as the squirrel climbed off of his head and onto the spot where his arm was. He started to claw his way through until he got to Helios' arm. Sure he scratched it up a little bit, but it was loose enough for him to get free. The boy reached his freezing cold arm out from the snow and grinned. "Ugh, I thought I was going to die with the squirrel here. You're a life saver!" he laughed lightly as the young woman began to pull him out of the snow pile. He smirked deciding it was the greatest moment to use the new pickup line he had recently thought of. "You know what my armor's made from? Boyfriend material." he joked, trying not to let out a laugh. It would be awkward if he laughed at his own joke. He wanted to know how well his pickup lines worked. Maybe one day he'd create a book called "Helios' Godlike Pickup Lines". He winced as the squirrel poked him in the eye and swiftly ran towards a group of other squirrels. He glared at the group of rodents angrily and sighed.

Kotori found herself pulling the boy out after the squirrel decided to chip in and help with saving Helios from his frosty doom. It digged his arm out so that the girl was able to pull him out with all her strength before letting go and standing in front of the now freed boy. He seemed to be overjoyed at being out of his snowy cell since he called her a "life-saver." It wasn't that big of a deal, somebody would've eventually have came around and helped him. It wasn't like the game was that realistic in which a person could die from hypothermia or at least from her knowledge. Nonetheless, he was no longer stuck in the ground and was free to move around and frolic. However, instead of leaving after thanking her, he decided to do something she remember happening on that very floor; use a pick up line. However the circumstances around was much different and instead of getting angry like she would've done earlier that year, she decided to say something witty and make sure Helios understood who he was talking to. "That's odd. My boyfriend Oikawa never mentioned that type of material before." she protested with a smile on her face.

"Alright, so no more jokes or Oikawa will stab me to death. Anyway, thanks a lot." he chuckled. He was thankful he wasn't going to have to sit under a pile of snow for the rest of his life while everyone else cleared the floors. If Kotori hadn't found him, they'd be at the one-hundredth floor before he got out. "Sorry for making the joke. And I apologize for troubling you by getting caught under that stupid pile of snow." he lightly laughed, and then turned his head back over to the group of squirrels, glaring at them once more. "Anyway, I think you should tell Oikawa about that material. It's pretty good for making armor. he grinned, leaning up against a tree. Helios decided he was going to have a little bit of fun here. Saving the great Helios came with a price! I'm not completely sure why saving people costs something, but you know. Everything costs something, right?

This was the second time that Kasier was on the fourth floor and this time, there wasn't that much difference in terms of temperature. The last time she was here, she immediately headed back to the first floor because of how cold it was but now, she was here to collect some ice for cold coffee that she would need to make in her shop. The fourth floor was the perfect place to collect <<Ice Shards>> so she would have to come here since it the shards were quite common on this floor. She hoped that she would be able to find some shards as fast as she can and hence, get the heck out of this floor. In addition, she was aware that she had to exit the safe zone as well in order to find this item but she was perfectly fine with that since most of the mobs on this floor were rather passive unless they were on mountains. So, with her thin starter cloth and her curved sword by her right waist, she took a step out of the safe zone and prepared to do some hardcore material gathering and get this ice coffee made as soon as she gets back... That is... If she finished Helios's order. The man had ordered a perfect coffee so it was given that it would be rather hard to complete but she was sure she could do it and make a coffee that is near perfection if not reaching perfection.

(Just gonna hop in under Helios's permission xD)

Helios had left the area where Kotori had saved him. He'd have to remember to thank her for that again in the future. Keeping his cape closely wrapped around him, to make sure he stayed a bit warm, he wandered the forests of the fourth floor. The young man was intent on finding himself some materials. Scavenging the ground, he came across a small, red crystal. It seemed to be glowing a bit as well, which caught the black and green swordsman's attention. It sat patiently on a cliff-side just waiting for Helios to step forward and grab it. As he stepped down on the snowy cliff, he heard the ground shift underneath his feet. "Uh oh." he muttered before it broke apart from the rest of the rock, sending him tumbling down the large hill with a small avalanche following behind. Luckily, Helios was able to find his balance and continue to slide down the rocky path. He saw the crystal-like object falling ahead of him and he was eager to obtain it. After taking a deep breath, the player decided to jump for it. He leaped, just as he realized there was another ledge. Both him and the gem fell downwards. He was nearly able to reach it when he noticed the woman walking in the direction where he was about to land. Then, he hit the ground with a thud. The crystal landed right after him, shattering as it hit the ground. "I just wanted the gem..."

Kasier shivered. The coldness was getting to her. Sure, this game was virtual... But there was still a sense of temperature whether it is Kasier's own personal imagination or its actually implanted into the game. Whatever it was, Kasier was very uncomfortable while being on this floor. To her surprise, it was actually one of the more popular floors as well... Perhaps even the most popular floor just behind the first floor. There was really no beating the first floor was it? No matter how far into the game everyone gets, the first floor will always be the most popular one where most people are. Kasier smiled, walking through the icy landscape. More and more floors are being beaten at the moment.... And more and more people are dying. She thought. This is why I must get better... I must become stronger in this virtual prison so I can stand up for the others. She thought, eyes switching from one side of her vision to the other, striving to find ice crystals so that she might use them in her coffee creation. With a deep breath, she realized that there were no crystals of this sort in the surrounding area... The only thing that she can truly see was her own breath in front of her, taunting her. I can't give up just because these materials are hard to find. She decided, carrying on despite the cold and despite her lack of luck.

Kasier sighed. This constant grinding of materials could be really boring but as a healer who can’t deal damage, she must continue to go on and search for materials like this without using any combat. This was how Kasier decided to go about with her life in this world and so she must pay her consequences. As she turned the corner, she watched as a black-haired boy retreated back to the safe zone. The man looked very familiar but in the midst of the snow, she couldn’t exactly make out who the figure was. Whoever the shadow was in the snowy day, Kasier was quite familiar of who he was, but she just couldn’t place her finger on it. Somehow, she had a strange feeling as she picked up an ice crystal as a material, a feeling that she won’t ever see the man ever again, and it saddens her somehow.

Kasier had a strange feeling but she must carry on finding materials and get as many as she possibly can to use for coffee making. Kasier smiled, the man was at peace somewhere and that was what really mattered. With her hair swaying in the air, now almost white from the snow, she walked quickly in search of more materials. If she wanted to save some materials for herself and reserve them for crafting, then she can’t just stop finding materials. In order to succeed, one must not be lazy and hence, she will continue to craft and be a good cook. However, at the moment, after this crafting session, she’ll focus entirely on improving her healer stats so she can become a better healer for the front liners, even if she cuts a bit back on being a cook. Kasier then saw a giant mountain, a snowy mountain that looked bound to have materials on it.

Kasier carried on, walking upon the mountain. The mountain was a high one and she would only spend a couple of hours up there. In fact, it would only be a couple of hours before it reached night so before nightfall, she would try her best in order to get as much materials and then leave immediately. It was kind of like a grab and run. It was time for her to grab as many materials as she possibly can without stop and that was what she needed to do as a non-combat material gatherer. Kasier sighed, beginning to climb and hoping that she won’t fall and slip while climbing this mountain. So, our hero, the brave and kind Kasier began to climb with her hands clawing into the snow of the mountain, rushing up as fast as she possibly can so she won’t waste time trying to climb the mountain but rather use the time on material gathering.

Soon, Kasier arrived at the top the White Mountain. Snow had made the climbing extraordinarily hard but in the end, it should be worth it. Kasier really didn’t see anyone trying to climb this mountain in order to get materials so the materials up here really shouldn’t be taken. Kasier smirked, beginning to look around and walk around with her back straight and her head held high. Kasier sighed, it seemed that there were no materials on the east side of the mountain. Hence she would need to move to a different location on the mountain. With a smile, she walked on and continued with white snow constantly falling on her hair and falling to her feet. The place was very annoying and if she could help it, she would not ever come material gathering here again. But, of course, in order to get ice coffee, she needed to be on this floor

It was time for Kasier to take a risk. Indeed, for a material, Kasier would do absolutely anything even if it meant jumping off a cliff. Of course, here, on this mountain, there was a crystal right on the tip of the mountain and the cliff didn’t seem very steady at all. Kasier sighed, knowing that this material was too good to just walk past. Hence, she began to walk, carefully making her way to the crystal without making any intense movements to avoid the collision of the cliff. As soon as she walked near the crystal, she used a sudden swing of arms and immediately, the cliff began to collide and Kasier had to make a break for it. Her arms, carefully placed by her sides now, were swinging frantically as she tried to escape. Finally, after some noises and hard exercise, she realized that she had managed to avoid falling as well as the material in her hand.

Kasier walked on, calming herself. The sudden action was quite hard to chill from and even during the snow, her heart was beating frantically in response to the action that she had just faced. She took the risk and it paid off because no other players were going for that material. This was how the game worked and she needed to take more risks in order to get greater rewards. Better risks results in better rewards when done in success. This is how this game works and this is how Kasier must adapt to the game mechanics. No matter how boring this was, she needed to carry on doing it so she can level as fast as she possibly can as a healer. Sure, it would be a lot more fun if she had someone else who could do this with her but she didn’t at the moment and there really isn’t anything that she can do.

As Kasier walked, her mind began to stray to different topics. She knew that as a healer, she needed to carry lots and lots of potions and crystals. So, basically, she needed to invest in that extended weight skill so she can carry more healing items at once. However, she also needed to invest in material gathering skill so she can get more materials. Indeed, she needed to find a way to get more materials in a faster way. Also, she heard that there was recently an update in familiar and there were better enhancements that they gave off as well. Kasier sighed, wandering when she was going to go and get the familiar and how she was going to do so. The task was a hard one and a long one but in the end, it will definitely be worth it. Kasier smirked, realizing that there were no materials nearby and hence she would have to move on.

Kasier sighed. Even though she is unable to see the sun, she had a feeling that night was approaching the world of Aincrad. SAO’s nighttime was a beautiful time as well as a dangerous time, kind of like a pretty woman. Kasier walked on, her head high in the sky. Sure, she hadn’t been able to get the most materials from this material gathering session but she only had herself to blame because she woke up too late and only started grinding for materials in the afternoon. At least the walking around would help her in her experience gaining. Kasier smiled when she saw another ice crystal. That makes three materials, which means a day of crafting or maybe some armor for her. Now, it was time for her to head back home. After sliding down the mountain bravely, she would walk to the safe zone and then head back to the first floor to do some crafting.
