[SP-F1] A Beginner Tests His Mettle {Complete}

Recommended Posts

The afternoon light shone down on a lone figure on the grasslands outside Starting City. The artificial sun shining down directly onto the person's blond hair, giving the appearance of a golden halo. The person in question had been waiting a good long while before setting out from the city, having wanted to get a good grasp on what was going on first before trying anything. After all, if death is a consequence for failure perfection is required to make it anywhere. Mistakes are liable to get one killed.

Raising a hand to keep the sun out of his eyes, the blond swept his blue-eyes across the plains, looking for a boar to fight. As he is only level 1, trying to  fight more than 1 Mob would be downright idiotic, so he would try his hand at a single one. He spotted a group of them far to the right, and immediately dismissed them as trying to separate one from a crowd is too much  for his present skill-set. Looking at them closely, he also concluded that they had a very low chance of having anything that could be used for armor-crafting.

He pushed up his glasses as he looked around, casting a glare that made it nigh impossible to see his eyes before they settled on a lone Boar a little to left his present position.

For whatever reason, it gave a visible shiver. Turning around, the boar saw him, and, while slightly disturbed by the eyes of it's newly discovered prey, it decided that it was still something it could kill, and so dug its front right hoof into the grass, making a small trench as it prepared to charge.

The battle began in earnest as the boar charged forward. Vangran readied his blade to strike back as he kept his eyes on it. Although it didn't seem to do any good as the slime-equivalent Mob rammed into him, knocking him onto his back. He grimaced as he watched his HP bar go down. Leaping back to his feet, he brought up his sword and slashed at the boar, scoring a hit. If he didn't end this soon, he likely would die. And that would NOT bode well for him.

It was a painful moment when the boar struck him again, although thankfully it was only a standard hit.  He swung his blade in an attempt to get back at it, but the creature had already moved away, getting ready for another charge. It seemed if he had any will to live left in him, he would have to step up his game. Cause dying here was not on the agenda for the day.

In the next move, as the boar came around again in a final attempt to finish him off, he readied his blade and dodged, swinging his blade down as it passed, and watching in satisfaction as the creature exploded into pixels.

He sighed as he plopped onto the ground. He knew he would have to leave soon or else he'd be caught by a respawn. Giving a slow breath, he got back to his feet and began the trek back to Starting City. He could use a proper seat.
