[SP-F2] A sting in the tail <<Long live the Queen>>

Xion sighed as he lay in his bed. 'What time is it?' he thought, as he rolled over, looking at the small window on the other side of the room. A gentle, orange glow was entering the room from said window, which meant that it was very early in the morning, probably too early for Xion's liking. The blonde sighed once more, debating whether he should get up or not. 'Well...I'm awake already...' he thought, before forcing himself up, stretching as he let out a yawn, before equipping his gear, A scabbard and shield appearing on his back as he did. 

 

"Ok so now that my lay in has been ruined what should I do today?" he said to no one in particular as he scrolled through his quest log, before noticing a fairly interesting quest: <<Long live  the queen>> the quest was on floor two, and entailed defeating a relatively weak field boss. The blonde smiled as he remembered taking on both <<Avalanche>> and <<Blood in the sands>> with Tristan, a high level tank who fought on the front lines. However, both of those field bosses where stronger, and he had a superb tank helping him, but the young warrior figured that he would be able to take this one down, seeing as he had more HP than the field boss. It was settled, he was going to take on the wasp queen.

After the blonde had left and locked up his shop, he walked to the centre of the town of beginnings, where the teleportation gate was. The Town was surprisingly quiet that day, not that the player minded, it was just a little strange. 'It matters not' he thought, shaking his head as he walked up to the gate, shouting "Teleport, floor 2!" before he disappeared in a bright blue glow, which was followed by the usual strange feeling of having your body be in twelve places at once, before returning to normal, and appearing in the main town of floor two. "Right" he said as he checked his map for the field which was meant to be the home of the field boss, he found it, setting a small marker on his map before setting off in the direction of the forest.

After a good few minutes of walking the blonde had managed to leave the borders of the town, and could see the field in the distance. "Shouldn't take long" he said as he continued his journey towards the fields, the sun slowly rising above the horizon. The blonde smiled as he walked, taking in the fresh air of the fields as the wind blew through his air, helping to cool him. For the player it was a nice change from the stuffy, smoke filled air of the forge, not that he didn't enjoy his profession, quite the contrary, he loved his job, but sometimes everyone needs a break, and for Xion fighting a field boss was the perfect way to spend a day off. 

 

After a while he could see a strange silhouette in the distance, it was large, large than any man that he had seen, and it seemed to be hovering a good few feet from the ground. "That must be the wasp Queen..." he said as his eyes followed it's movements, while it looked scary from a distance, Xion knew that the mob was weaker than he was, so he had no reason to fear.

As Xion walked the silhouette grew larger, and larger, until he could hear the buzz of it's wings as it roamed the plains looking for prey. Before long Xion was staring directly at the wasp Queen, mere metres away from it. Somehow he hadn't pulled aggro yet, but he wouldn't need to worry about that this time, as he was alone, nobody that he needed to protect, no mobs that he needed to taunt, just him and a field boss. 

 

As the blonde drew the Slicing Maelstrom, and the Beast Aegis his eyes turned to narrow slits of determination, focused on the beast as it hovered, almost stationary. The blonde waited until the perfect time to strike, until he was sure to do the maximum damage... 

Now. 

 

The beast had turned it's back on him, meaning that it would not be able to block his attack, the warrior charged, his sword held alongside him before he thrust it into the beast, a strange combination of screeching and clicks came from the wasp Queen as his blade pierced it's abdomen, but it's resistance was soon stopped by a surge of electricity from Xion's weapon, which paralysed the creature, before he ripped the blade from it's abdomen horizontally, for extra damage. "Time for someone else to take the throne" he said, as he looked down at the limp, helpless creature.

As Xion watched the insect fight for control of it's body once more he shook his head 'Poor thing, doesn't stand a chance' he thought to himself as he raised the Slicing Maelstrom once more, driving it into the creature's abdomen again. Once again he heard the blood-curdling screeches and clicks before another surge of electricity arced from the blade to the wasp Queen, refreshing the paralysis effect as what little movement from the creature ceased altogether. 

 

Xion smiled as he saw it's HP drop to nearly half, as there was only a sliver left in the second bar. He then pulled his blade from the creature, readying for another strike.

Xion was about to drive his blade into the creature again before it started moving, it's legs and wings twitching as it slowly regained control of it's body. Xion decided that caution was the best way to go, backing off as he watched the creature scramble to it's feet, before hovering above the ground once more. The wasp looked directly at him, it's compound eyes almost flashing with anger as it charged straight at him, it's large stinger aimed straight at Xion's chest. 

 

Xion however did not move, nor did he flinch, he simple raised his shield to block the attack. And block it he did. The was queen's stinger collided with the centre of Xion's shield, sparks flying as it fought  desperately to overpower him. But it's attempts where in vain as  Xion easily pushed the beast back with his shield, before following up with a lunge, his sword digging into it's body, not as deep as the previous strikes but still powerful nonetheless, as he saw the first health bar nearly drop to half. 'This is too easy' he thought as he raised his shield once more, waiting for the Wasp Queen to attempt another attack.

Xion watched as the wasp Queen charged at him once again, it's stinger aiming at the same part of his body: His chest. With a sigh the warrior blocked the blow once again with his shield, the same power struggle ensued as he and the beast clashed. But, unknown to Xion the creature had a plan, while he was seemingly occupied by it's stinger it brought one of it's legs around for a glancing blow on the player, luckily Xion saw the attack coming, and moved the slicing maelstrom to block the attack just in time, as the hair covered appendage was mere inches away from his face. "Nice...try" Xion grunted as he pushed the creature away with a great deal of force, which gave him some breathing room as he assumed a defensive stance once more.

Xion watched as the insect charged at him, it's wings practically buzzing with anger as it's stinger bashed against his shield repeatedly, each time it did Xion's eyes narrowed, determined to not let the beast strike him. 'If I can get through this without taking any damage then that would be a story to tell' he thought before aiming to strike the beast's abdomen mid-assault, but his blade collided with it's stinger, and sparks flew as both Xion and the Queen were forced back. 

'Not strong enough...' he thought before assuming a defensive stance once more.

Once again the Queen charged at Xion, aiming to strike him with it's stinger. The player raised his shield, confident that he was going to be able to block the attack, but to his surprise the Queen managed to get past his guard. The insect's stinger pierced through Xion's flesh, digging into his shoulder as he saw his health drop a little 'damn, there goes my idea of not being hit' he thought before pulling himself away from the boss. Shortly after he felt his wound starting to heal, as his <<Battle Healing>>skill activated, and all the damage that the Queen had dealt was healed. Smiling, the player raised his shield once more as he readied himself for the next attack.

Again the Queen charge towards Xion, it's stinger raised in anger as it once again managed to get past the warrior's guard and land a light hit on him. The player frowned as this happened, it seemed that the Queen had caught onto his blocking style, and how to get past it. 'Impressive...' he thought as the beast backed off, fearing another attack from the blonde tank. As he watched the creature closely, Xion felt his wound heal again, as his <<Battle Healing>> Kicked in, once again healing all of the damage that the queen had dealt. It was like trying to walk on a treadmill for the boss, for every step that it made, it was forced two back.

The Queen charged at Xion once more, it's many limbs flailing in anger. The creature aimed a light strike at Xion's side with it's leg, which the warrior blocked with his shield, but this left him wide open for a frontal attack. Seeing an opportunity the Queen drove it's stinger into Xion's abdomen, dealing a small amount of damage as the warrior was forced to back off, as he had no chance to attack. 

Xion frowned as he backed off, it was learning, learning how to get past his defences, although this didn't change much, as it only dealt a tiny bit of damage, and Xion could heal that with <<Battle Healing>>

As the Queen readied another charge and came towards Xion, the player decided to charge as well, hoping to attack the Queen before it could attack him. Unfortunately this was not the case, as Xion's attack missed, and the Queen thrust her stinger straight into the player's back, knocking him to the ground as it dug into his flesh. Xion's face was covered by dirt and grass as he fought to push the beast off of him. The queen put up an impressive resistance, but Xion's strength triumphed, as he pushed the beast away and backed off, recovering. 'This is ridiculous' he thought, mere moments ago he had been destroying it, now he wasn't able to land a hit. 'Focus Xion, focus' he thought as he raised his shield.

Xion's eyes narrowed as he looked at the beast, it's stinger was raised as it prepared to strike him once more. The player debated raising his shield. but if he did the creature could always get past his guard, and then he may not have a chance to strike. "Fck it" he said as he raised his sword, charging at the beast, if it was going to strike him, then he was going to hit it back with twice as much force.  

 

They both charged, Xion's blade aimed at the beast's abdomen, and the Queen's stinger aimed at his chest. Before long they had collided, both of them hitting their marks, the Queen screeched as the Slicing Maelstrom dug into it's abdomen, taking it's health into it's last tiny sliver.  Xion grunted as the stinger pierced his chest, dealing a small amount of damage. He then backed off, pulling himself off of the stinger and raising his shield. 

 

"One more hit..." he said as he felt his wounds start to heal and his <<Battle Healing>> skill activated.

Xion saw the extremely low health bar of the Queen, mocking him, taunting him. "I won't be beaten by a bug" he said as he raised his sword once more, and charged towards the boss. As he neared the boss, it's eyes flashed with anger as it raised it's stinger, thrusting it into the player's chest. Xion grunted, as he saw his HP drop a little, and the force of the impact nearly stopped his charge, but he kept going and thrust his blade into the beast's abdomen, causing it's HP to drop to zero as it exploded into millions of tiny shards, and the "Quest complete" window appeared before him. 

 

"Finally..." he said as he fell to the ground, his eyes looking up at the sky as he rested his tired muscles. "Something that weak shouldn't have given me so much trouble..." he said as he went through the battle in his head, he shouldn't have been hit that many times: Pathetic. 

 

Nevertheless he had beaten it, proving that he could take a field boss on and win. "Only a few more to go..." he said.

After several minutes of resting the tank got up, deciding that going back to his shop on floor one was the best course of action. He walked back towards the main settlement of floor two, taking in the scenery as he did. It was a pleasant field, much like floor one. 

 

The tank eventually made it back to the main town of floor two, walking towards the teleport gate, saying. "Teleport: Town of beginnings!" before disappearing in a brilliant blue glow.
