» About:

Spoiler

Darius was born in America, but his family moved to Japan because his father had a miniscule part the development team that created

SAO when Darius was just becoming an early teen at the age of 14. As Darius grew up he was regarded differently by the people of the school he went to. He couldn't speak Japanese very fluently so the other kids avoided him to their greatest potential. The only people he could get along with- because they tolerated him- were the smart, geeky kids of his class. Darius himself was above average intelligence throughout his school career, normally keeping an average of 90 or above. They saw him as a valuable input of knowledge; nothing else but a tool.

He grew to become isolated because of the harsh treatment by his piers. He wasn't strong enough in means of willpower to be able to withstand the constant harassment. Instead of withstanding it, he turned to displacing it. He started working out at the age of 15. He found comfort in putting out all of the negative emotions he built up into the weights he used. He also took comfort in losing himself in books that focused on fictional happenings where heroes saved kingdoms and prevented the land from being ravaged. He liked to envision himself as them because their example gave him strength to endure. He liked to do a third thing too. Game. He was big into gaming. All of the possibilities that the games could bring made him become addicted to them. He could explore so many different worlds and meet so many different people; even if they weren't actually real; inside a game. He eagerly looked forward to the opening of SAO so he could immerse himself in its vast world.

Multiple years passed of the same routine of enduring harassment through those three ways. It was a bland life and Darius was starting to lose hope. He noticed how he had a shorter and shorter patience everyday and how he was getting more and more aggressive. He was also going subconsciously insane. He needed SAO. Bad.

Finally, halfway through his last year of highschool SAO was released. Through his fathers help; as miniscule as it was; Darius got a copy of the 10,000 that were released. When his father presented it to Darius, along with the Nerve-Gear and system to play SAO, Darius almost died of excitement. He charged up into his room, hooked everything up and laid down to play. It told him he needed to calibrate the machine first. He did so, calibrating his body into it. He entered the data and the game booted up. It took him to character creation and name selection. He had no fear in this world. It was his free kingdom to roam. He put his actual name into the name selection and made his appearance identical to his own. "Darius Verand, standing at 5'11", masculine stature, high and tight dirty blond hair, sky blue eyes." He chose from the starting equipment a mace and buckler, with a short sleeved brown button-up shirt with white trim, a pair of black pants, and a pair of brown boots. The world loaded up. He was free from reality.

In the time that he had joined to the time the Summon to the Square by Akihiko was held; Darius had used the starting money, plus some extra he got from killing a few hogs, to buy a hard leather vest, a pair of white gloves, and some knee- and elbow-pads. Then the Summon happened. Akihiko Kayaba made his announcement. The mirror that Darius opened had no effect on him since he already looked like what he originally did. Then when the announcement came that the game was a game where if your HP hit 0, you died. Darius looked around at the rest of the players. Most looked scared and about to wet themselves. Some had. Some had even looks on their faces. Then there were the few, like Darius, who's face slowly split into a smile. For Darius and these others, this was the ultimate immersion. The ultimate way to escape reality and their torment. A dream come true.

The announcement ended. The game ensued.

[i know it says not to put any equipment in, but I had initially wrote this up for the registration. I couldn't use it because it was too long, so I used it here. I didn't take out the part of getting equipment or the killing the hogs because it co-existed with the part of the summons and where it describes part of Darius' personality. If it is required that I have to take those few things out, I can, but originally planned to do the actual RP events of hunting the hogs and buying the equipment afterwards for the sake of immersion.]

» Virtues:

Spoiler

Hardened- Nearly Fearless: A double-edged sword; Darius has gone through so much pain and punishment that his emotions are scarred and burnt. Without said emotions, it is hard for him to feel the emotion of fear. Since he does not feel fear, he does not hesitate to rally, to lead, and to fight until the bitter end. This fearlessness will undoubtedly lead him into sticky situations, and inevitably, his death. He is hardened.

Determined: Darius is dead set on starting anew and creating the opposite image of what his rough life in reality was. He will do almost anything that will further himself, devoting his energies solely to it. It often prevents him from being flexible in his actions, but whatever action he does choose will be completed. His is a great member to have in a party if there is a need for hope and determination, rallying those around him with his seemingly undying determination. He is determined.

Fierce: Another double edged sword; Darius is deadly in battle. He is driven by a rage only he understands. That rage makes him a very valuable person to have on your side, as he will not stop and will not show mercy. He will fight until death. Cowardice is not an option, meaning he is a go-getter, a job completer, but again, will probably die because of this trait. He is fierce.

» Flaws:

Spoiler

Hardened- Withdrawn: A double-edged sword; Darius has gone through so much pain and punishment that his emotions are scarred and burnt. Since his emotions are so shattered he is hard to evict feelings from, for he has felt few good ones. This makes Darius very anti-social in his communication abilities, and he has few friends because of this. He gets little enjoyment from the things of this world, and because of this, he is bitter. He is hardened.

Remorseless: Darius shows no mercy to whatever enemies challenge him; whether they are player or monster; for when he enters a fight a cold rage grips him, making him into another person entirely. This often clouds his judgement and he can make the wrong decisions. Not that he wishes to PK, but if forced, he would without an after thought. He is remorseless.

Fierce: Another double edged sword; Darius is deadly in battle. He is driven by a rage only he understands and that rage makes him reckless no matter how deadly he is. He will fight until he dies, never ceasing, never stopping. As death is final, this is a large flaw. He would be the perfect person to be a distraction, and turns rather savage when in combat. He is fierce.

Stubborn: Darius is stubborn in every fiber of his being. He will not easily be swayed to something he does not want to be. He will also try to never give up unless it is absolutely needed. Peer pressure is non-existent to him. Nothing can sway him, not even the few he considers his friends in SAO. He is stubborn.

Unstable: Darius is not entirely right in the mind. He can control it most of the time since he is in a place where he can be truly happy. He gives off subtle signs if he is troubled though. If he tips over the edge, he loses it. Curses, insults, aggressiveness, and everything that comes in a rage-filled package will be thrown at you.

[i realize that by putting all these double-edged swords, they may not count for a separate virtue or flaw. If they don't I am more than willing to find other things to add in.]
