[SP-F1] Beginning of the End

Recommended Posts

End stalked out onto the fields of Floor 1. His first order of business was to level up high enough that taking a quest wouldn't be a huge challenge. Quests were generally what he used to level up in other MMORPGs, and since Sword Art Online was an MMORPG, the mechanics should have been the same. The budding swordsman looked ahead - He could see flashes of light, which obviously came from using Sword Arts - He had seen several people using Sword Arts while he was training on the first day. End had also tried to use them, and after allocating his Skill Points to the One-Handed Straight Sword skill, had successfully pulled off a Sword Art. He was more than happy that he had learned how to do so in advance - Now would be the time to put that knowledge to use.

End ran forward, looking for an isolated monster. Once he successfully found a boar, he unsheathed his sword and pointed it at the boar. Time to begin his first fight.

Abused Boar
[HP: 4/4]

End quickly rushed in, aiming to end the battle quickly. Readying a stab, End thrusted his sword forward and leapt off the ground, aiming to put more power into the strike, but cursed as the blade barely missed it's mark. Of course, by now, the boar was aware of their opponent. eyes widening as he saw the boar rushing towards him. The adolescent let out a gasp as the boar rammed into his chest, knocking him backwards. He landed on the ground, but quickly got up and glared at the boar. "You dare touch me?" End asked, looking up at his HP bar. Oh, [censored]. His HP was at 3/4. 25% gone with one hit. That meant that was the minimum strength of the boar. Bad news. End tightened his grip on his sword, and took a deep breath in. He looked at the boar's HP gauge, and saw the name.

He took a gasp, and remembered how he was in real life.

...

Would it be right to kill this monster? The monster was weakened, depressed, and probably sad. Sure, End's survival was necessary, but...

...

End readied his sword, and steeled himself for what he was about to do.

Abused Boar
[HP: 4/4]
[Attack Strength: 1]

(OOC: Oh, dang. End's past will come to bite him a LOT if he hesitates after seeing a monster named like that. On another note, yes, I did weaken the boar. The reason is that even though the normal attack strength of a boar is 3, I thought it was fairly overpowered that 75% of a player's HP was taken away when they were struck. For this reason, and the fact that I did not want to nerf a boar, I decided to make the boar an Abused Boar, both as a plot device and as a way of lessening the chance that my character would get killed off in his first RP.)

End
[HP: 3/4]

[Energy: 0/1]
[Hate: 1]
Energy gained. +1 Energy.
[Energy: 1/1]

Abused Boar
[HP: 4/4]
[Attack Strength: 1]

Rushing forwards, holding his sword in prime thrusting position, End activated the Sword Art <<Slant>>. Now, while Slant was not a thrust-type attack, it was a way to ensure that he could get a clean hit on an enemy. The idea was that End would thrust his sword to the top left corner of the enemy's vision, before slashing it to the bottom right corner of the enemy's vision. It was a huge gamble, indeed, since the momentary delay between the end of the thrust and the start of the slash allowed for an attack, but End expected to die anyways. With this plan in mind, End rushed forward.

Immediately, the boar charged forward, which made End panic. He hadn't expected for the boar to attack so soon. As soon as the boar had entered the reach of his sword, he slashed, but the boar had hit. End yelled out a curse as his HP decreased at an alarming rate, the boar's HP decreasing as well. However, while End's HP stopped at 1/4, the boar's HP decreased fully. It did make sense that the boar's HP would decrease entirely - He had sliced the boar in half with Slant, so the boar had no body to function.

...

Function.

Often times in real life, End found himself unable to stand. And it hit him that the boar may have been in the same state. And he had taken advantage of the boar's condition. He had used it as a stepping stone for survival. End had sunk so low that he was no different than the bullies that had dominated his school days.

He wasn't going to end the boar's memory. This boar was different - This boar had been abused by their parents and companions. Kayaba Akihiko had created this monster as just another monster, but it wasn't just another monster to End. It was a representation of what someone like him would not become. He would not die. He would avenge this boar, who had been coded to be abused. As End interacted with the terrain, he produced a makeshift grave at where the boar had despawned. End checked his inventory for loot, but found none. So instead, he took some water and bread from his inventory, and placed it upon the grave.

"Rest in peace."

End
[HP: 1/4]

[Energy: 0/1]

Abused Boar [Dead]
[HP: 0/4]
[Attack Strength: 0]

Result:
-1 Bread
-1 Water Bottle

(OOC: I think that although the Abused Boar wasn't exactly all that powerful, nor was it anything remarkable, it does represent something worth fighting for to End. Him being in that condition before really changed his feelings about Sword Art Online. That's why he gave some of his food to the boar - To him, the boar gave him fighting spirit. He thought of it as a trade.

Oh, and the reason the end of the battle came after the "Rest In Peace" was to symbolize that End's battle hadn't truly ended until he had come to terms with what he did. Yay internal conflicts!)
