[SP-F4] Hunting in the Tundra (Completed)

It was a cold day on the forth floor. With the season change from summer to fall, the temperature extremes seemed to take effect as well. What was normally a tolerable cold, began to change to what others would claim to be unbearable. Reaching across his chest, the golden haired spear bearer pulled his crimson cloak across his body to trap in the escaping heat. His bright white teeth clattered as a strong gust of wind, The frozen tundra was a harsh place, but there were rewards to it. Lawfer had planned on collecting as many materials as possible as he hunted the Ice golem's of the arctic. "Come come... Where are you...?" He asked. Raising his right hand, he opened his interface. "If I want to get all the items, I better equip my lucky pants." He commented as he unequipped his Boar Hide Gloves. Instantly he could feel the chill against his hand. As he quipped the Lucky Jeans, he smiled. "At least I look good." He commented. Making some distance between himself and Snowfrost, he came upon a frozen plant, that had illuminated ice crystals on it. "Today is my lucky day!"  He commented.

Reaching out to grasp the crystallized plant, he could feel the deep chill of the crystal suck the heat from his hand. It wasn't surprising, his gloves were off and heat transfers to cold. Well that's how it worked in the real world. As he plucked the iced over crystal, he rubbed it in his hands to removed the iced that had caked on over time. He wouldn't be able to see the defects unless it was warm enough. Taking a deep breath, he breathed out warm air. It was almost like steam escaping from his mouth. Well that's what it looked like at least, the warm air vapors danced in the cold air. The golden haired spear bearer, could feel the crystal warming up and glowing brighter. As he raised it to the sky to appraise it... "Come on come on... Be good!" he stated with a smile as he observed and appraised the perfect crystal material. "I can definitly use that one." He stated as he placed it in his inventory.

After the success of the first crystal, Lawfer reached for the second that had been hanging on the crystal plant that had hung from a rock in the frozen tundra. Grasping the crystal in his hand, he could see the soft glow of the crystal begin to fade. As it shattered into purple pixels in his hand his smile turned to disappointment. "Cant win them all." He stated as he turned. He needed to find the heart of spawning ground for the ice golems so he could shatter them and collect his prize. Trudging through the snow, his footsteps could be seen behind him. He heard that the lower level golems breed near the opposite side of the Starglade, but so far he was not having any luck.

Lawfer smiled, he found the spawning ground of the Ice Golems. It wouldn't be long until he was able to reap a great harvest. Gripping the handle of his LawBreaker, he slung it from his shoulder. He had just acquired some new Sword arts that he was more than eager to show off. Dashing forward, snow flew like the exhaust of a jet engine. The white cloud trailed him until he stopped suddenly between the four creatures. "Gotcha!" He yelled. As all four of the ice golems swung their giant fists at him. Bracing for the attack, he watched his HP bar shrink. Fighting 4 creatures at the same time did come with some risks. Sheilding most of the damage from the onslaught, the golden haired spear man grabbed the halberds handle. As it glowed red, he spun his body, adding momentum to the LawBreaker. "Trip Expand!" He yelled as the sword art released its energy, rotating him while slashing all of the ice golems. As they burst into blue pixels he smiled. "Thanks!" He said as he collected the large bag of loot.

Taking a moment to catch his breath,the golden haired spear bearer kicked his head back and took a deep breath in. "OK, I need to rest a bit before these guys respawn." He said as he began jogging from the spawn zone. "Dont want to get caught with my pants down." He commented as he found a secluded section near the Starglade. Looking down at the snow, he noticed a slightly different colored patch. "Maybe... Just maybe..." He said as he plunged his hand into the snow and unveiled a glowing crystal. As he appraised it he smiled. Placing it in his inventory he stood up and closed his cloak to warm his hands. "Only a little bit more until I can go back." He commented.

Taking a deep breath in once more, the golden haired warrior sighed. He was getting tired of hunting alone, but he knew that it was essential to gain the strength he needed to eventually join the front lines. Grasping his Lawbreaker in his right hand, he casually slashed the air. It was beginning to feel lighter, after he invested the appropriate skill points, he was was that much closer to being a master. Only time would tell if he would master the unruly Lawbreaker, but he was confident that he would. Looking off in the distance, he noticed a another shining piece of ice. walking up to it, he slashed the thick wall of ice with his heavy halberd. As it pierced the Ice, it destroyed the crystal. "[censored]" He yelled, then laughed.... "Maybe i should be more delicate."

Turning from the now destroyed wall of ice, Lawfer smirked. 'At least im strong enough to destroy a wall.' He mentally teased. In the real world that would have been impossible but here, in Aincrad, he could destroy jsut about anything. Unless it was an immortal object, but those were rare. Looking down at the mess he had created in the snow, he noticed a faint hint of green. There was another crystal in the ice. Poking it with the spear tip of his Lawbreaker, he chipped piece by piece of ice away until he was able to get to the illuminated green crystal. Taking it in his bare hand he appraised it. The crystal was in great condition. Placing it in his inventory, the spear bearer looked at his EP bar. "Looks like its time to hunt again."

Tirelessly trudging through the snow, Lawfer made his way to the top of a cliff that overlooked the spawning area of the Ice Golems. This time he would make sure he had the first attack. As the 4 golems re-materialized from the thin, frigid air, Lawfer back pedaled. As he did the math in his head, he derived the appropriate amount of speed he would need to clear the gap and land in the middle of the Golems. Removing his Lawbreaker from its harness, he grasped it tightly with both hands. "This is new." he commented as he began running ahead at full speed. As he reached the end of the cliff he leaped. The crimson the crimson tassel of his spear danced in the air. As he crashed down in the middle of the Golem's a stream of fresh powder shot up from the ground. His lawbreaker glowed crimson, "Trip Expand!!!" he screamed as he spun with his Halberd, crushing all the Ice golems in his path. As all four exploded into blue pixels he smiled as he grabbed his loot. "This is almost too easy!"

"That worked out better than I expected." Lawfer stated with a smile. He had known that growing in levels allowed him to do crazy things, but he had no idea that he would be able to jump off a 50 foot cliff, relatively unscathed. "Cant argue with results." He murmured to himself as he trudged through the snow once more, trying to find a more direct route to the cliff. He was planning on repeating the attack as many times as he needed to. The wind had picked up and blew open his crimson cloak, the golden haired man's teeth chattered once more. A bright light had caught his attention from deep in the snow. Kneeling down, the man shoveled snow with his hands to find a small red frozen flower. "Well I cant use that." He stated as he stood up and shook the snow off his hands.

The hunting trip was going far better than the spear bearer was expecting. Not only has he received ample amounts of Materials, the col generated by this trip was astonishing. With a few more outings he may be able to get the home he wanted much sooner than expected. He had put a lot of distance between the spawning area, and he would soon be in a position to climb the back side of the cliff once more. Tracing back his steps, he looked over his right shoulder to another wall of ice that had formed against on of the rigid walls of the tundra.Noticing a familiar glow, he went to find what he had hoped would be another material he could use. As he observed the wall, he came to realize that the glow was created by a reflection of the sun. "Well, that wasted a bit of time." He commented. "I gotta hurry, cant let anyone steal my hunting ground."

Raising his right hand, Lawfer initiated his interface. Somehow, the genius of a man got himself lost trying to find a shorter path up to the cliff he needed to secure the proper vantage point. His irritation was apparent as he kicked his feet through the snow. It was almost like a child would, except the golden haired man was much to big and proud to complete emulate it. As his feet thrashed through the snow, he felt something hard launch off the top of his foot. It was sent several meters forward. Perplexed for a minute, he quickly chased after it. Reaching out his right hand, he gathered up the crystal. As he examined it a large smile crept across his face. "It's perfect." He stated as he placed it in his inventory. As he observed the map that had been open this whole time, he finally figured out where he went wrong. "Time to back track!"

As he was back tracking to the cliff, the golden haired spear bearer smiled. He had found a little cave in the process. It wasn't deep but it did happen to have a unique glow about it. As he fumbled through the cave, he reached out and grasped the green glowing stone that had allowed him to vaguely see. Returning to the entrance, he raised the stone to the sky. "Well this will definitly do." Lawfer stated with a smirk. Of all his hunts, he was enjoying this one the most. Opening his interface, he placed the crystal in his inventory. "Ok... time to get back to those golems." They have got to be back by now." He said to himself as he began running up the steep hill.

Lawfer was over joyed, he had found the proper route to get back to his perfect vantage point. As he was sprinting up the hill, he had lost his footing on something slick and face planted into the fresh powder. "What the hell!" he yelled. In all his experience in the snow, he knew enough that he didn't slip unless something was under. Propping himself up, he turned to where he lost his footing. Pulling back the snow, he smiled. It was another material that he needed. Reaching out, he grasped the crystal. "This will do." He stated as he jumped up, losing his footing once more. "Gosh!" He yelled, the echo could be heard from miles around. "They probably heard that." he commented. Hoping that he didn't mess up the spawning grounds.

The crowning glory of the cliff was in sight, as Lawfer tried to stealthily sneak to the edge of the cliff, he looked over the edge. The four ice golems were going stir crazy. The golden haired spear bearer assumed that it was because he had yelled loudly on his approach to the summit. Back pedaling once more, the spear bearer gripped his Lawbreaker. "I should probably charge it early." He commented as his Halberd began to glow a faint crimson. Sprinting forward, the spear man leaped once more. He had known the drill, as he fell in the middle of the four golems he smiled sadistically. "Trip Expand." he said smugly as he released his new sword art. As he spun like a tornado, the four Ice Golems toppled over and exploded into blue pixels. With all four disappearing Lawfer laughed. The loot screen had popped up with the spoils of the battle. "Ok I can probably do this once or twice more before its dark.... I better hurry."

The snow was getting deeper and deeper ever moment as the snow fell and erased his tracks. As he circled around the massive mountain, he turned his head to face the west. The sun was beginning its decent, it was well passed mid-day and the air was beginning to cool even more. He had calculated that the spawn rate of the golems had taken at lease two hours. Which meant that if he hurried, he would have two more possible spawning events. Grasping his cloak, he pulled it tightly to his body to trap in as much heat as he could. It may have been a vanity item, but it was definitely helping. Noticing a slight green glow in the snow, he walked over to it. Kicking the snow to the side, he reached down and picked up the crystal. The quality was good, good enough for him to use for crafting, opening his inventory, he placed the crystal in it. "Ok gotta hurry."

The trail began to widen, rather than having to carefully trudge through the snow, he could start to run once more. As his pace picked up, he could feel his body temperature rising. This was a wanted side effect, one that would keep him alive in the frozen tundra. His cloak was beginning to open up, letting in the frigid air. At this point, it didn't matter to the spear bearer he was completely focused. He only had an allotted time left before he was forced to head back. Looking to his right, he noticed a crystal that looked like it was hanging of the ledge, ready to plummet to the abyss below. Taking a few steps towards it, his weight caused the snow to shift, sending the crystal to plummet down. "Dang it!" he murmured under his breath for fear of causing an avalanche. "Forget about it Lawfer, you dont need it."

As he made his way through the wide pass, he smiled. He only needed to traverse a few more dangerous area's then he would be able to leap into action again. Looking forward, he noticed a glowing stone that protruded from one of the canyons wall, walking up to it, he grabbed the stone. Trying delicately at first, the stone didn't budge. He would need to put a little more muscle behind it this time. Grasping the glowing stone in both hands, he placed his right foot on the canyon wall. Pushing with his foot, and pulling with his arms, the stone detached from the wall. It also caused Lawfer to fly backwards landing in the snow on his back. "Well it didnt break!" He stated as he help the stone up to the sky, marveling at its clarity. "This one will work."

He he reached the summit of the cliff once more, the golden haired spear bearer, Lawfer laughed as he looked down at the re-spawning ice golem's. Taking a few steps back once again, he sprinted and leapt off the cliff. As he landed in between the monsters once again. "Trip Expand." He stated with empty hands. "AH [CENSORED]!!!!" He yelled. In his carelessness he forgot to draw his massive halberd. As the unsuspecting golems slowly turned to the man, the four raised their fists. Quickly, the spear bearer reached back and ripped the Lawbreaker from its harness. As it began to glow crimson to charge his sword art, the four golems swung there readied fists. Taking the brunt of the attack, Lawfer released his technique. As he spun multiple times, the Halberd ripped the golems to shreds causing them to explode in the fashion they had before. As his loot screen popped up he smiled. "Worth it..." He stated as he accepted the loot. Looking up to the sky, he watched the sun descend even more. "Gotta hurry. I have time for one more attack."

With the sun rapidly going down and the temperature following suit, Lawfer had moved off to the side of the spawning grounds. He wasn't going to waste his time scaling the mountains when he could just search the area and try to find anything that he could salvage. If he had paid close attention before he would be able to notice the faint glow of the materials that littered the spawning ground of the ice golems. Kick aside the heavy snow of one of the glowing spots, he looked down. In his good fortune he reached down and pulled out the stone. After a lengthy appraisal he smiled. Opening his interface, he placed it in his inventory. 'Hurry up and spawn you [censored].' he thought to himself growing ever more impatient.

The sun began to set, the sky began to glow a bright orange that was reflected across the snow flakes that fell. At this point, the golden haired spear bearer began to grow disheartened. It was taking this batch, what seemed like, much longer to respawn. Lawfer had been walking around for about an hour and half just waiting and watching... he had gone through most of the crystal deposits at this point, minus two. The ones that were directly in the middle of the area that the monsters would return at. 'Might as well' he thought to himself as he walked to the center stage.Kicking the snow aside he reached down and examined the crystal. 'It would work.' he thought to himself as he placed it in his inventory. It was a waiting game, for that he was certain.
