[F1-SP] The First RGQ

Recommended Posts

It was early in the morning that Kasier woke up once more. For some reason, despite her deciding that she was going to go material gathering again, she had some type of feeling that the day will be a great one. It was just that sort of feeling and her instincts never fail to prove to be correct. Hence, before the sun was even up, she awake from the single bed in her shop, switched clothes, and walked out of her coffee shop, anticipating the day to be an exciting one. With her starter curved sword uselessly stable besides her waist, she set out under the beautiful morning sun in order to complete some material gathering in which she may use in her shop. The day wasn’t too hot nor was it too cold so it would be a perfect day for some material gathering. Little did she know what would await her in the outskirts of the black forest.

Hence, Kasier would walk out of the safe zone, anticipating for a day of fruitful progress. She was level eight now and she had managed to reach this level without the use of any killing. She knows that eventually, she’ll have to finally kill some mobs as without doing so, life in this game can become really, really repetitive but she’ll hold off on doing that for as long as she can in order to avoid seeing those mobs die before her eyes. For now though, she must focus on leveling up and doing a lot of material gathering so she can successfully run her shop without the use of killing for materials. Soon, she arrived at the usual spot that she always came to due to how many apples there were when she saw someone in the distance with a heavy axe on his back and a straw hat on. He appeared to be an NPC but she’s never seen him before. Hm… What is this? She wandered, curious to what the man is doing.

As Kasier approached the fat NPC man, he looked up from the position in which he was sitting down. It appeared that he was chewing some sort of apple that looked very similar to what Kasier usually looked for in a material. It was a perfect apple and looked quite juicy to eat. However, the man’s face wasn’t as juicy. He wasn’t an ugly man, but his face showed of tiredness and distress. The man was obviously in need of something. It was then that the man began to speak, “Hello little fella. I was just cutting down some trees in the woods for lumber to sell. Business is pretty good this season so I wanted to get as much cut as possible so I wanted to get the cutting done and then pick them all up. But some rustle in the bushes scared me out of the forest and now I lost the two piles of lumber that I cut. Can you go retreat those lumber for me?” As soon as he said it, a pop-up screen appeared right in front of Kasier.

Kasier was going to head into the forest in search of materials in the first place so a little more task wasn’t going to be that much. However, what really surprised her was how random this encounter was. Kasier had been to this location so many times, countless even but she’s never met this man. I wonder if this is a new thing. She thought, looking around to perhaps spot anything suspicious. Most people would’ve probably declined the quest after seeing how random it was but Kasier, who was always willing to help others with an open heart and an open mind clicked on the accept button with absolutely no hesitation. If there was someone in need, Kasier was going to help him or her even if the person was an NPC. With a smiling face, Kasier began to speak to the NPC, “Alright. Don’t worry! You’ll get your lumber back in no time.”

Hence, Kasier set off, expecting a good material gathering session after she obtained the lumber that the NPC was looking for. This was a fetch quest and she was sure that she’ll be able to get it done in no time and then go on her own material gathering session. For now, she was going to concentrate and look around every single corner in order to find this material that the NPC had asked her to look for. With a sigh, she walked into the outskirts of the Black Forest where there shouldn’t be too many hostile mobs around. At least… So far there wasn’t much around. Surprisingly though, as soon as Kasier walked into the outskirts of the forest, there laid a patch of lumber right on the ground. Geez… He could’ve just picked this up by himself. She thought, inserting the lumber into her pocket. That’s one down and one to go before she completes this easy quest.

Kasier sighed, wanting to get the log quickly. She hoped that this log finding session wouldn’t take too long but it was expect if it takes a while because this wasn’t just your everyday quest. In fact, she had never seen any player do this quest yet but if she was to help someone by doing this quest, she’ll be sure to do so effectively and productively. With a smile, she walked along the outside of the black forest, knowing that the log that the man was looking for was most likely to be on the outskirts as inside the forest was a dangerous place. Hence, she was walk along the outside of the forest until she found something that attracted the attention of her eyes. Surely, this wouldn’t take too long especially since the log’s color is completely distinguishable between the color scheme of the forest. Unfortunately, she was unable to spot anything on the East side of the forest.

The plan is to search until noontime when she would head back to the starting town in order to have some lunch. No matter how much she wanted to help someone, lunch was something that she just simply cannot miss no matter what. However, lunch was still far away in terms of time and hence, she must concentrate fully on finding the wooden logs. As she walked slowly, trudging along the smooth landscape, she saw something brown in the bushes. With a smile, she knew instantly that she had found it. However, Kasier walked upon it to see that it was a sleeping brown boar and immediately, Kasier ran off, not wanting to be engaged in combat. Whew… That was a close one. She thought, sighing and walking off into the distance, wanting to avoid any combat that might come her way because she’ll more likely lose in combat than actually win.

Kasier smiled, walking to the north side of the forest. This was really the only side that she had yet to look so surely, the logs were right here. For her to walk around completely in such little time was actually quite a surprise to her and well, she was pleased when she found a long brown pillar hiding in the midst of the bushes. Now, she had both of the lumber and even if it wasted her some time that she could’ve used for material gathering for her shop, she was able to help an NPC in accomplishing his goals. Helping others results in a better feeling than to help oneself. This is what she learned at a young age and this is the philosophy that she’ll follow for as long as she can see into the future. Soon, after doing a lot of these quests, she’ll be sure to become a good healer on the front lines and heal as many players as she physically can.

Hence, Kasier walked back to the original location in which she had accepted the quest. Indeed, just like she anticipated, the lumberjack who had given her the quest was sitting in the same location with absolutely no emotion. He was an NPC after all so it was to be expected that he would just stay there. Kasier sighed, walking over there and giving the two lumbers that she had collected to the man, It was quite an easy task for her to complete but she was able to do so in quite a timely fashion, allowing her to do some material gathering in the afternoon after some lunch. For now, after completing the quest, she decided to head back to the safe zone for now and obtain some lunch to replenish her energy and allow her to get fuel for a possible long afternoon of material gathering for her shop.

Kasier had heard that there was a ramen stand somewhere in the middle of the safe zone where a lot of people usually ate there. She had heard that the ramen stand was one of Aincrad’s best healer’s favorite food stands. Although the woman was now retired from the frontlines and away from public eye, she respected the pinknette for being one of the few healers alive to this very moment. However, unlike the famous healer, Kasier was going to be even greater and stay in the front lines once she reached it in order to help the players of Aincrad. Indeed, that is her one and only goal…. To help others no matter the cost. With a smile, she greeted the stand owner and ordered a spicy bowl of ramen before digging in when it arrived. It was a delicious bowl of ramen and she appreciated the taste. However, now, afternoon had finally arrived and it was time for her to head out of the safe zone… Time for her to gather those materials.

The first location that Kasier wanted to search was the place where Itzal and her hang out. It appeared that there were a lot of herbs there and if she was to find a lot, she’ll definitely be able to make some sort of herbal coffee that might treat some type of sickness. If she was able to do so, perhaps she’ll even cash in when someone comes to buy it from her. It’s not only her shop that hasn’t been having any business so far in this game but other shops as well. There are so many cooks around and she’d heard that Helios had closed down his shop due to some reason, most likely due to lack of business. It’s quite a shame but that is how this world works, not only in this game but in the real life as well. Competition is intense and hence, many players harm others in order to win. I’ll never do that. She thought, looking around for a material and indeed, she was able to do so.

Her first attempt at trying to find the material was a good one and she was able to add one material into her inventory. However, the material gathering doesn’t simply stop there. She had all day and all afternoon lefts all reserved for her to material gather. Sure, the morning had been spent helping someone else but she definitely didn’t mind that so she must use the time now to find as much materials as possible that she can use to keep her shop and crafting going. With a sigh, she scanned the surrounding area to see that there was indeed more herbs scattered around. With a quick movement, she went over to the nearest pile of herb, inspected to see whether it was good or not and once she decided that she had done so, she added it into her inventory. Soon enough, the material will be used in the production of her exclusive coffee.

Kasier continued to look through the piles of herbs. Some of them were in absolutely terrible condition and she, of course, passed through them. After maybe one hour of searching, she decided that there was nothing around that she can use anymore. Indeed, she would have to search a different location in order to find more materials. However, she felt a grumble in her stomach, signaling her hunger. With a smile, she pulled out a piece of starter bread before beginning to nibble on it. The taste was only decent at best and she was running out of bread, soon, she’ll either have to buy some food for herself or make some that she can take with her to eat whenever she is hungry, which is quite frequently. Kasier sighed, walking away from the flower fields to look for more materials somewhere else. After a while of walking, she arrived at the apple trees.

Kasier planned to spend the rest of the day finding materials in this gigantic area which was filled with apple trees that had lots of apples placed on them for players to come by and pick up whenever they are hungry or whenever they need materials. However, picking apples isn’t as easy as it seems. Some apples bait you, forcing you to miss when you try to pick them and a lot of times, players tend to fall from the trees straight to their face. Indeed, nothing is easy in this game and she was well aware of all difficult it could be in order for someone to find materials. No matter how easy a task appears in this game, it always isn’t as easy as one anticipates, especially for a low-leveled player like her. Lots of players invest a lot in Search and Detect so they can have a better chance in getting materials but a lot of the time, that isn’t the easiest thing either.

Kasier was able to successfully find an apple that she was able to pick out of the tree easily with a swing of the hand. However, that was more likely to be beginner’s luck. Now, was the real task. That apple had been low in the tree but this one was high on the top of the tree. With a sigh, she placed a foot on the trunk of the tree and began to climb the tree. Soon, she was able to successfully climb the tree. With one step, she would be able to take the apple and claim it as hers. However, unluckily, she stepped on a unsteady twig and the twig broke off entirely, forcing her off to face plant onto the ground. With a sigh, she stood up. Indeed, she was not going to give up and with a face full of courage and determination, she began to climb the tree once more.

Kasier began to climb the tree, hoping that she won’t fall to her face this time once more. Of course, she knew full well that the apple was a hard prey and she would need to go up there multiple times in order to grab the apple and claim it as her own. However, there was this stubbornness that came with Kasier’s personality that just forced her to continue on and grab this material no matter how hard it was for someone to climb that high. Knowing that her efforts will eventually pay off, she slowly made her way to the top of the tree once more. Now, all she needed to do was jump and grab the apple before landing. However, it was easier said than done. As she jumped, she was unable to get her position right. As a result, she fell to her face, face planting to the floor once more.

Once more, Kasier would attempt to get to this apple. Now, even though the game had no pain mechanic, she felt her face burning in embarrassment. Her face was burning and it felt like pain. With a sigh, she began to climb the tree once more hoping that she won’t be falling to her face once more. This was quite annoying and she really disliked how easy it was for someone to fall from this virtual tree. After about ten more minutes, she had made her way to the top of the tree slowly. It was then that she became distracted with the scenery. No longer was the sky blue but now, it was orange red… Almost bloodish. At that very moment, a bird hit the top of her head, sending her straight to the ground, resulting in yet another failed attempt. With a sigh, she stood up and rubbed her head in confusion.

Night was almost upon the world of Aincrad. Now, anyone with common knowledge and the commonest of senses would know that night time in the lowest level could be dangerous even for a level twenty player. Almost every player, even if you were clueless, knew that nighttime was a time of danger and a time that you must avoid spending out of the safe zone. Hence, she must get as much material gathering done so she won’t have to spend too long in the midst of the darkness. She’d try once more, maybe twice, in order to get this apple. If she is unable to do so, she’ll simply wait for tomorrow to grab this apple. Nothing is impossible in this game so as long as she continues striving for her destination, there will be absolutely no doubt that she will succeed eventually. Kasier, this time, was unable to grab the apple and hence, she had failed once more.

Kasier grinned because she had a feeling. It was one of those feelings that she just knew she was going to succeed unless something terrible happens which restricts her from doing so. However, this gut feeling she had was usually correct and hence, she began to climb the tree with utmost confidence to her. Kasier smirked when she reached the top of the tree. Now, it was the easy part, as long as she completed this part correctly, she’ll be able to get one more material for herself. Night was literally upon the world of Aincrad so this will have to be the last attempt that she has on this apple so it was now or tomorrow. Kasier jumped forward like a bird in flying motion, however that was when she realized that there was a branch right in front of her that she was unable to realize was there. Her face, as a result, struck right into it, causing her to fall right to the ground.

Hence, the moon was beginning to rise and the sky was turning into the hue of blue-black. This was the definite signal that it was time for her to retreat from the outside of the safe zone in order to reach safety back in her shop. She’ll get some crafting done as well and hopefully she’ll be able to reach a new rank in her shop. She was going to become a rank three cook soon and if she reaches that level, she’ll definitely be in need of a lot of materials. She was fully aware of how many materials would need to be used in order to rank up in a profession. Kasier, now Kasier was a robotic player. She feels no tiredness and she’ll continue to strive for her goals no matter what. Sure, she might be lazy… But she’s ever tired especially with the consumption of her coffee. Finally, she was able to reach her shop and begin her crafting after dinner.
