[SP-F1] The Lost Jewel

Recommended Posts

Kasier’s eyes glared in the darkness of her shop. It was the day after Helios’s death. She had ordered a weapon from the famous blacksmith’s shop but she had yet to receive it at this point. However, as soon as she receives the so-called weapon, she will put it to good use and go slaughter some boars. This game isn’t for the weak but rather, those who kill will prosper in the end. Kasier sighed; making sure that everything she had was on her before heading out of her shop. The events of yesterday were still fresh in her mind and she can’t forget about it at all. Right now, she just wanted to be alone, do some material gathering in silence. She’ll probably even take a break from crafting in general so she can invest in a lot of good gear. This marks the beginning of a new era: The Kasier Era.

She had grown up, matured and now, she was seeking to become the strongest of Aincrad and she already had a plan formed in her mind. First, she would master First Aid so she can have a position in the front lines. After reaching the front lines, she will the drastically increase her damage mitigation in order to keep herself alive in this world of Aincrad. Then comes the juicy part, which is her damage. After she masters all three is when she can completely prosper. From there, leveling up would be such much easier than it is currently when she can’t really do anything in terms of damage dealing. So, for now, she would have to gain experience mainly from material gathering and little things such as that. Later on, she’ll even complete all the quests that she can’t complete currently because of her low damage output. For today, she was going to walk through town and check out what she can buy to improve her equipment.

Soon, her build would be complete as well. She had ordered a lucky charm and a curved sword from two of the best crafters in Aincrad. Both of them were player killers but they seemed quite nice considering that they have taken away someone’s life in this game. Kasier walked through the bright starting city, which had the sun brightly upon it. Soon, she would probably go out onto the fourth floor because now that she had heavy armor, she would probably be able to keep warmth for herself. Kasier sighed, sitting down and pulling out her starting curved sword out of her case to examine it. Soon, she would put her sword to good use, but only if she is able to obtain the weapon that she had ordered from the player killer blacksmith. After a while, she placed the sword back in its case and stood up to walk on, looking for an adventure.

Kasier smiled as she prepared to walk out of the starting city in order to get some material gathering done. She was going to fully equip herself with all the equipment that she can possibly get so she can devote her materials later on to crafting and only crafting. Soon enough, she’ll be high enough level to become part of the frontlines after mastering first aid and mitigation. Sure, it might take a while but it would be worth it. This game is all about blood and tears and sweat. If you work hard, you will succeed. Hence, Kasier will constantly grind for materials and more experience so she can level up faster and go through the ranks. However, today, right as she was about to walk out of the starting zone, she heard the cries of a little girl. As she turned around, she saw a girl holding a teddy bear with her face red from crying.

The girl looked awfully sad and immediately, Kasier, who had sworn to help anyone who needed help walked over to see what was going on. The NPC girl was sitting on a wooden log and looked like she was desperate for something. What that thing was, she would soon ask. With a sigh, she walked up to the tiny girl and sat down besides her.

With a kind smile, she began to speak, “What’s going on, little girl?” She asked as the girl looked up at her, wiping her tears away.

Then, the girl began to speak in her squeaky, girl voice and immediately, Kasier knew that this was a quest.

“Uhm, well, I lost a jewel in the Black Forest that my father had given me. The jewel is really precious to me and the Black Forest is a really dangerous place so I don’t know how to get it back…”

Then, immediately after the girl had spoken those words, a pop-up menu came up, asking Kasier if she was going to accept the fetch quest. The quest objective was to go fetch the jewel from within the forest. Before, she had been terrified of the forest, but, not anymore. What was she scared of now? Death or even maybe herself. One day, she will become the strongest and the black forest on the first floor will definitely not scare Kasier. One day, she’ll be able to go anywhere without any fear. Kasier sighed, clicking on the accept button and petting the little girl.

“Don’t worry about it, I’ll get the jewel back for you.” Kasier said, grinning with a wide grin as she stood up.

“Really? Thank you!” The girl replied gratefully, rubbing the remaining tears from her face and sitting patiently to wait for Kasier to return with her jewel.

Hence, Kasier headed out of the safe zone and sneaked past a few boars that looked like they were too busy sleeping and eating grass if they did awake. Kasier sighed, how sad it must be to be a boar? All they could do was spawn, sleep, eat, and then get killed by players. Of course, lots of players die from these boars as well, including her friends. Kasier looked down on the ground, remembering the occasion before looking up. Such an event could only inspire her to become a stronger, better player. Soon enough, she walked into the darkness of the black forest. She really couldn’t see much but hopefully, the jewel glows in the dark or something. It would sure take her a long time if she were going to find such a small item in such a dark and gigantic place. As she predicted, the task she was given was going to be quite a challenging one and she was unable to find any jewel in the entrance of the forest.

Hence, Kasier carried on walking, keeping her eyes peeled for anything shiny on the ground that she can pick up and return to the NPC little girl. Somehow, someway, she was able to spot something in the dark, vast forest. It turned out that the jewel was lying on top of a bush and was simply waiting for her to pick up. It seemed like the quest was easier than she expected to complete. With a smile, she picked up the jewel and began to walk out of the forest. She hoped that the girl would be happy and excited when she returned the red jewel. The jewel seemed really similar to the description of the jewel that she had ordered from an artisan’s shop. Kasier smiled, finally walking out of the forest. Soon, she’ll find her way back to the little girl’s original location and return the jewel to the girl.

After she returned the jewel, she’ll make sure that she gets some material gathering done as well. That was the task that she had woken up and decided to do. Although she didn’t mind helping a girl with something that she needed help with, she still wanted to get at least a tiny bit of material gathering done. With a grin, she held up the jewel so the little girl can see it as she walked into the safe zone, the sun reflecting off the red crystal and hitting the girl’s face as she smiled in gratefulness and innocence. The little girl hopped off the wooden log that she was sitting on and charged Kasier for a great hug. The girl then took the jewel and put it in her pocket.

“Thank you very much, mistress!” She said, and Kasier was faced with the quest complete icon. She had done it… She had helped someone, even if she was just an NPC.

Kasier would spend the remainder of the day doing material gathering. Perhaps she’ll be able to find some materials that she can use in her shop or maybe spend some of them on certain equipment that she can certainly put to good use. Kasier shook her head; it was barely noon right now so she would still have plenty of time to get some material gathering completed. Kasier sighed, walking back into the black forest where there should a lot of apples simply waiting for her to pick. Soon enough, Kasier arrived at the darkness of the forest and began to search around, wondering if there were any easy apples that she can pick in the entrance of the Black Forest.

Just like she expected, she was able to find a patch of apples right at the start. And there was one in particular that was really close to the floor so she simply jumped up a bit and grabbed onto it so she can drag it down and put it into her inventory.

Kasier must continue to search for apples. Because this game never really implemented the system of system of hunger and thirst, she can really just go on all day for material gathering and then go back to the starting city to enjoy a buffet that she can enjoy thoroughly without any distractions. For now though, she must carry on with her material gathering without any distractions as well. Hence, Kasier finally found another apple that was suitable for her coffee making business. Sure, it was high in the sky but it was reasonable enough for someone short like Kasier to jump up and grab it. Still, from past experiences, she knew that anything in this game wasn’t as easy as it seems and hence, she would have to try really hard grabbing it from the sky. With a deep breath, she bent her legs and jumped up but the end result was her failure.

When Kasier sets her mind on something, she will strive for success no matter how hard the task is. Her determination forces her to not give up even if giving up in a certain scenario was completely reasonable and logical. It was her nature and her personality as well as the way that she lives her life so she will not deny her own abilities. If she did deny her belief, then she might as well be denying herself. Hence, she bent her leg once more, preparing to jump for the apple that was high in the sky. With a deep breath, she charged forward once more and jumped at the last moment. However, it appears that her jump had been mistimed just slightly and her fingertips missed the apple just barely, resulting in her falling from the air and falling right onto her face. Kasier stood up, patting dirt from her armor.

Kasier smiled. This time, she was sure that she’d be able to obtain the material. She had that gut feeling inside of her and when that feeling comes, there is no doubt that she will succeed in whatever she is planning to do. With a confident smile, she surrounded the tree, looking for the best approach to jump high and get onto the tree. It seemed that the way she jumped before was from the wrong side and the best way to do it was to jump from a small hill on the East side of the forest. Immediately, without another second of thought, she ran up the hill and as soon as she reached the top, she jumped down, snatching the apple along the way. Indeed, she had succeeded. It had taken longer than she expected but it was a good experience and she had added yet another material that she can use for equipment.

Kasier carried on. She had completed her good deed for the day and now she was gathering for her own good. She was going to gather as many materials as she can; of course, she can only wish to do so. The amount of materials that she obtains is really only based on luck since this game was so heavily based on luck. You can probably kill someone whose stats are so much better than you if your luck is so much more extraordinary than the other player. Whether you hit something or obtain something is based on a dice. Kasier hoped that her luck is pretty good, and well, she did have some pretty good luck so far in this game. She was making pretty good progress in terms of leveling and she already had a shop that she can sleep in. She had shelter and food that she can make personally.

Kasier smiled, her eyes gleaming under the sunlight. She had found one more apple that she could add to her inventory and to be honest, she was quite pleased with her previous attempt of obtaining an apple because, of course, she had successfully done so. Kasier smiled, her hair flying in the sky as she continued walking, wandering if there was something else around here that she can pick up and claim as her own material. Kasier sighed, noticing that there were absolutely no more apples in the surrounding area. Hence, she moved on from the area to the next patch of apple trees. From there, she hoped that she would be able to obtain even more materials than she had already, after eight more materials, she will be able to buy herself a new piece of equipment which will definitely help her on her path to become one of the greatest healers in Aincrad.

Soon enough, she arrived at the patch of apple trees. From there, she would definitely find a lot of apples that she can put to good use and make a lot of coffee or maybe even use them to buy a lot of equipment which will definitely help her. However, the task was easier said than done and it would take a lot of concentration if she wanted to successfully achieve the task that she had set out for herself. With a sigh, she scanned the area and decided that she would strive to get the apple that was closest to her. With a sniff and a charge, she bent down and jumped at the last moment. However, the apple was just slightly too high for her to reach it and as a result, she was unable to add yet another material into her inventory. Still, she would try once more to achieve this task.

Kasier would continue to try and get the apple. However, that was when she heard a snort of sorts and soon realized that there was a patch of boars right outside of the Black Forest. Of course, she wanted to avoid danger at any costs due to her low amount of damage that she had at the moment. Soon, she won’t have to be careful after she managed to grand master healing as well as mitigation. Obtaining all the skill points that she need would be a hard task but eventually, she will be able to kill boars and all kinds of mobs. Before, she had been scared to engage anything in combat but now, after she realized what the game is really, truly about, she recognized the fact that if she didn’t fight the mobs, then she will eventually be killed. The game was to kill or to die and there was no way around it.

As Kasier walked on to search for the next material that she wanted to grab, she did a self reflection on her progress in this game so far and she was pleased to say that she had done quite a good job so far into the game. Considering the fact that she had only just come out from hiding, she had made progressively more progress than certain people already. Sure, there were still a lot of people that were still a lot stronger than she was and that fact wasn’t going to change. However, stats do not equal strength. Power comes not only from stats but also from who you are. Kasier sighed, she was not strong enough and she knew that she needed to recognize her true self. Kasier looked around, failing to spot another apple and hence, she was forced to search for an apple in a different location.

Soon, Kasier would have to search for a familiar as well. She remembered Velnia, the pet dragon that belonged to Itzal. The pet was loyal and cute as well and she needed a companion of her own. Of course, she was a picky woman sometimes, especially if the scenario is related to the picking of a new pet. She really didn’t care what enhancement the familiar that she eventually finds have because all of them would be of benefit to her since she was going for a mixed build. For now, though, the familiar finding would come later on in the story. Right now, she must concentrate fully on her own progression and she needed no distractions such as a pet to look after. She’d even cut down on her crafting until she managed to level up high enough and find materials easily without the help of others and without the repeated use of <<Earning a Living>>.

Kasier sighed, her eyes strangely unable to see what was in front of her suddenly. Then she realized that night had already come to the world of Aincrad while she was so engaged in her thoughts for the future. When she does a lot of material gathering and soloing, she tends to forget about the time or even checking her surroundings. She might have as well passed by an ogre during this time. With a sigh, Kasier realized that it was yet another thing that she needed to fix about herself or some day, it might get her killed. Kasier smiled, her eyes filled with determined kindness as she saw an apple in the distance and without hesitation, she reached up, grabbed it and claimed the red apple as her own material. Then, Kasier decided that it was time for her to return home and rest up for an adventure tomorrow.
