      Hello members of SAO-RPG!

      I'm sure most of you (if not some) have noticed or heard changes were made to the staff team. If you are applying to staff, you may have noticed that the application process has recently changed. This has all happened because of a reformation of the staff team and the way it operates. The staff now has separate teams for development. These teams are: Floor Creation Team [Floors, Quests/Events, Bosses], Systems & Clarifications Team, and Player Support Team.

      "Who is on these teams?" Well the answer to that lies below! Floor Team Systems & Clarifications Team Player Support Team * - Denotes Team Lead

      We also have a team to work on and develop the current systems but that team will search for its members and is not allowed to be applied to.

      Now you may be asking, "Shark, how does one apply to the Staff Team?" And I have but 1 simple answer!
      Go read this thread and it may answer all your questions!

      SAO 2.0 May Patch Notes   05/16/2017

      Praise thee to @Teion, in which spent her time creating all these patches. <<May 2017 Patch Notes>> Hello players! The following are complete notes on the upcoming patch that will be released once Floor 21 has been unlocked. These rules are not yet in effect, but an announcement will be made once they are officially implemented.
      As always, any threads that are in-progress when the patch goes live will follow the same rules as when they were started. Skills, items, new threads and evaluations, etc., must adhere to all new rules once the patch has been released.
        General Rule Updates:
      First off, there are a few general rule changes and clarifications. These have been amended or added to the relevant guides until the 2.0 rewrite has been completed. Post Count Requirements: A completed page of roleplay is 20 in-character posts. Thread summaries are mandatory, but they may be posted either in a separate post or together with the last IC post. Rules on Vanity Potions: Cannot affect a player's psyche. Cannot manipulate a player's will. Cannot alter an avatar's appearance in drastic ways (missing limbs, transmogrification, etc.) Cannot affect any systems that would be directly controlled by Cardinal (pain dampeners, language or speech, players' senses, etc.) Alcohol in SAO: While alcoholic drinks exist in Sword Art Online and can be created by Cooks, players do not actually ingest any alcohol they may drink. It is not possible to become drunk, however some players could be prone to a placebo effect. Regardless, it is important to note that players cannot become intoxicated by drinking alcohol.
      Dice Roller Tutorial Update:
      The Dice Roller has been updated with some new rules regarding the "Roll Purpose" section: Rolls must clearly state the full action in the Roll Purpose field. When attacking: targets, sword arts, skills, etc., must be included. When crafting: tier and item type (not enhancements) must be included. Any loot, crafts, etc., that do not abide by the new rules must be submitted for evaluation before the end of the Floor 20 boss fight. Evaluations that do not meet the new criteria after the patch's release will not be able to be approved.
      Appraisal Rework and Loot Changes:
      The Merchant's Appraisal system has been reworked to Identify: The loot table and treasure chest guides have been rewritten. Permanent items obtained through chests or from killing mobs are now "Unidentified". Unidentified items are not submitted for evaluation by the person who looted the item. These items must be brought to a Merchant to be identified. Unidentified items cannot be used or equipped. Merchants will use their crafting rolls to identify items, similarly to the appraisal system. The Merchant who identifies the item is responsible for submitting the item for evaluation before it can be used.
        The Loot Guide has been rewritten: There is now a Floor minimum and maximum for standard parameters. Monsters may not be spawned below or above these stats. Players must use a post action out of combat to inspect unidentified weapons and armor to determine their type. Players may not search for materials in safe zones, shops, etc. Separate Loot Die rolls are required when facing multiple enemies.
        The Treasure Chest system has been revamped: Chests can be searched for every 20 posts. Sub-dungeons and chests cannot be searched for closely together. The Picking skill is no longer required to open chests. It is still the only modifier that affects rolls to open chests. Treasure chest rewards have been changed. Items found in chests are also unidentified. Check out the complete updates in the new Loot & Treasure Chest Guide and Merchant Guide sections.
      <<The Gemini>> Quest Rewrite:
      <<The Gemini>> quest and the skills it awards (Concentration and Disguise) have been rewritten: Players that have already completed <<The Gemini>> may re-take the quest in order to switch the skill they received in their initial completion. Players may not repeat the quest if they are not switching their current skill. Repeat completion will not award the col or additional SP from the quest rewards. Concentration (5 round cooldown): Gives +1 to the BD result for a single action. Can be applied after the roll. Can only be used against monsters. Disguise (5 round cooldown): Gives +1 to the BD result for a single action. Can be applied after the roll. Can only be used against players/NPCs.
        New Beginner Quest: <<The Venomous Warg>>:
      A new beginner quest has been released! With a level cap of 15 or below, this quest can be taken solo or with a party of 2.
        Skill & Mod Changes:
      Support players rejoice! First Aid has been reworked and given a few new mods. A new skill/mod focused around energy is being added. Focused Howl and the Dismantling mod have been adjusted. Fighting Spirit and Picking have been reworked. First Aid: No longer requires a roll to use. Healing amount has been reduced to 4% max HP per rank, down from 8%. Now has an energy cost based on the amount of healing done. Field Medic (Mod): No longer requires a roll to use. Energy cost now scales with user's total energy. New Mod - Sharpness: Increases your target's damage for a short time. Does not stack. New Mod - Barrier: Increases your target's mitigation for a short time. Does not stack. New Mod - Purify: Removes a status effect from your target
        New Skill - Energize: Spend energy to restore another target player's energy. New Mod - Hyperactive: Increase a target's passive energy regeneration for a short time.
        Focused Howl: Now generates 5 hate on a single target. Fighting Spirit: Increases Hate generated from attacks by 1. Missing an attack will generate 1 Hate, successful attacks will generate 2, and critical hits will generate 3 before other modifiers. Picking: No longer has ranks. Provides a flat LD bonus to opening chests. Dismantling (Mod): Reduced SP cost to 8 from 9.
        Enhancement List Update:
      The Enhancement List has been completely rewritten. We recommend checking out the link above and reviewing the full list. For some quick notes, the following has been significantly changed: Cook/Fisherman enhancement names have been normalized. Light Momentum: Gives temporary Accuracy instead of damage after an unsuccessful attack. Regen: Reworked. Now provides a healing over time effect after taking damage. No longer stacks with Battle Healing. Recovery: Now scales with Tier. Taunt: No longer unique. Can be applied to weapons, shields, and trinkets. Skill Rank: Renamed to "Expertise". Alcoholic: Renamed to "Protein". Reworked. Now reduces mitigation instead of evasion. Energize: Renamed to "Vitality". Now scales with Tier. Monster Call: Reworked. Monsters spawn at minimum loot requirement stats. LD bonus scales with slots but does not stack with other consumable LD bonsues. Misperception: Damage reduced from enemies changed to 10% (rounded down) from a flat 4. Fallen Damage: Now triggers on successful attack rolls of 6-8 (before modifiers) rather than any non-critical attack. Phase: Reduced the slot cap to 1 down from 2. Removed the second slot effect. Freeze: Attacks against frozen enemies now removes the effect and deals additional damage. Life Mending: Reworked. Now increases the user's healing done to other targets through the use of skills and consumable items. Absolute Accuracy: Reworked. Allows natural attack rolls of 1 to no longer automatically miss. Gives +1 to the BD when attacking (stacks with regular Accuracy). Caps at 1. Flame Aura: Reduced the mitigation received to (6 per slot * Tier) down from (9 per slot * Tier). Reduced the damage dealt to (5 per slot * Tier) down from (8 per slot * Tier). Combat Craft has been removed. Paralyze Water has been removed.

Located at the edge of the Starglades and just a short walk from the settlement of Snowfrost lies a simple wooden cabin with a warm and welcoming glow shining out the front windows and a comforting warm plume of smoke rising from the chimney. At the front it holds a breathtaking view of the Starglades from the front porch that lights up in magnificence at night and around the back you can find a garden brimming with all forms of plant life with dozens of different alchemical properties.

Upon entering guests are welcomed in from the cold to a blazing warm hearth in the corner of the room with a small oak desk and chair facing the entryway with a ink, quill and pile of papers on top of it, as well as a small plushy shaped like a Chimera. Along the back wall runs a long old oak table with a display case full of different kinds of potions for sale and running across the left half and a work station on the right covered in different kinds of alchemical equipment. A door on the back wall tucked in to the right leads out to the garden and another door along the right hand wall leads to a small yet comfortable living quarters.

A man wearing a loose fitting white buttoned shirt, black vest and undone tie looks up over the edge of the book he is reading while sitting at the small desk.

"Welcome to the Chimeric Cauldron! Come in and warm yourself by the hearth and I can show you my wares."

Gryas had just finished nailing up the sign out the front and then retreated back in to warm up by the hearth. He was now officially open for business so once he got a bit of feeling back in his fingers he would begin stocking up on different kinds of potions to sell. Stretching out his hands and cracking his fingers Gryas settled down at his work table and got to work, selecting one of his materials he added it to the mortar and pestle and worked away for a few moments until it slowly formed in front of his as a completely acceptable potion! His first attempt turned out to be a decent health potion and he was proud of his work. Putting the potion to the side Gryas added another material and once again toiled away, unfortunately the end results weren't as successful as the first as the item shattered under his fingers. "Well, all in all it was a successful first day!"  Gryas said as he carefully placed his newly made potion into the display case.

After getting back from a long day out on the second floor Gryas almost decided to turn straight in and go to bed but decided that if he did not make an effort at crafting some potions today he would regret it. He pulled his chair up to the work station and settled down in his chair. Opening his inventory Gryas removed some materials and began working away combining them in his mortar and pestle. It only took a few minutes to craft the first item, it didn't seem to have any actually useful properties but the liquid did at least smell pleasant. Deciding to set that one up as a perfume Gryas put it to the side and began working on his second potion for the day. It actually turned out rather well, another basic health potion he can add to his store. Even if they don't sell he could use these himself. Gryas collected the two potions and placed them into the display case.

Gryas felt like he had just enough energy to make one more attempt at crafting a potion so after he had put away the other two that he just made he went back over to his workstation, sat down and got back to work. He was getting tired and by the end of it was struggling to keep his eyes open. He knew before even finishing the craft that this one would not be any good, he didn't put any heart into it and without heart it was impossible to create anything. As expected the material exploded in his hands as he had finished the craft, he did not feel too bad about the failed attempt and began cleaning up the work station. He would turn in for bed soon and have another go in the morning. Unlike today where Gryas had been busy down on the second floor tomorrow he planned to spend the day at home crafting and gathering some materials from the nearby area.

Gryas woke up bright and early ready to start the day with a bit of alchemy. Gryas went to the front door and unlocked it, ducking outside he put up his open sign and then went back in before the cold got to him. He didn't expect any customers today, he was still newly open and thought that he should probably drop his prices a bit to bring in some customers. Well that was not really a concern right now, he should focus more on levelling up first and becoming better at his craft. Settling down into his chair Gryas pulled out some materials and got to work, combining the first one in his mortar and pestle. The results weren't spectacular but still at least it didn't shatter in his hands. He probably should have touched wood as when he began working on the second attempt that is precisely what happened. Making sure he was focusing more he began his last attempt he could do for the day and the extra focus helped because the result was a perfect item that he could be proud of.

Gryas put away the vanity perfume item he had made and was not too sure what else he could make at that level so he did not fill his store with perfumes. He was about to put away the Crafters Respite but changed his mind. "No time like the present to test ones own craft!" Gryas said as he pulled of the cap and downed the potion. His mind focused and instantly he felt like he could continue doing alchemy and keep crafting. Grabbing another material out Gryas placed it into his mortar and pestle and got back to work. A few moments later he leaned back in his chair with a satisfied look on his face as he picked up the Minor Health Potion he just made and added it to his display case. Gryas checked his Profession screen and noticed that he had once again levelled up! That allowed him to spend more time a day crafting and gives him the ability to make more potions.

After the level up in Alchemy Gryas realized that yet again his crafting attempts per day had increased allowing him to get more work done. After retrieving a few more materials from his inventory Gryas started combining them once more in his mortar and pestle. Being greatful for the gear that he had purchased his work was fast and accurate, the mortar and pestle was a good quality and allowed him to be more thorough in his work and the alembic was useful in distilling the potions an additional time helping him understand the different properties more and give him more experience per craft that he did. Even though the two potions he was able to make did not have any enhancements to them and he had completely failed on one of them he was still satisfied with his work and he had still gotten a worthwhile amount of experience points to get him to the next rank and more proficient in his trade.

Another day had dawned and Gryas made his way into the workshop to get his crafting done for the day. His shop had not been open long and he was yet to have a customer but it was still early days and Gryas figured that he would not get much business until he could raise his rank a little more and become better known. He had recently become a member of the Emerald Harbingers and hoped that through them he might be able to either get some sales or be able to produce some healing potions to help keep them all alive so that is what he had decided to work on today. Gathering all of his equipment and setting up at his large oaken table Gryas began combining materials and distilling the liquids until his mind started to see double. Some of the materials had failed and exploded as he worked on them but he was able to make two decent health potions that he could add to his stock. Happy with his mornings work Gryas placed them into the display case and walked outside, turning the closed sign to open before heading back in. Pulling up his chair by the hearth Gryas settled down with a book and passed the next couple hours reading while he relaxed in the warmth.

Gryas had spent the last few days not doing too much, having put a hold on levelling for the moment he had spent most of his time relaxing at home and dabbling in alchemy. He had spent the morning in the garden out back hoping to cultivate some useful ingredients that he could one day use, all of them were winter plants that were hardy and tough, as well as resistant to cold. Deciding to head back inside and warm up Gryas let his body warm up again before getting into his daily alchemy. He felt like the guild could do with some more healing potions so that was what he had spent time making today. He appeared to be having a lucky streak as he was able to make 3 Minor and 1 Major this time. This had given him ample EXP and in fact levelled him up once again, giving him an additional craft per day.

Putting away all of the healing potions that he had just made Gryas had just enough focus to make one more potion. Settling down once more in his work chair he applied the mortal and pestle as well as the alembic to the material and after a few moments the result was not quite what he had hoped but at least the material had not failed and exploded before him. It had turned into another hair dye potion which was alright, Gryas figured that he might just collect all of the vanity items he had made and trade them in for some col, he was beginning to run a little low on materials and would need to stock up soon, maybe go out on another hunting mission. After finishing up the crafts for the day he once again pulled out his book and settled into his chair by the fire.

Gryas woke up early and entered his workshop as the sun was coming up, throwing shadows across the room. In the corner Gryas spotted something and instantly drew his blade, as his eyes focused though he realized it was just the 2 meter tall Chimera Plushie that he had Stryder make for him. It was situated in the corner of the workshop next to his desk near the hearth and took up a good portion of the room. Luckily he did not need much space for his alchemy as the room was not all that large a size. Deciding to get straight to work Gryas pulled out some of his last materials and began crafting more health potions. He had 3 better then average successes, 2 of them Minor Health Potions, 1 of them a Perfect Life Potion. He had also made 2 more vanity items that he would bulk sell at a later date and then the last was a failed attempt. All in all a rather successful crafting session.
