Although Kou has dark brown hair in real life, Angelo had a healthy set of white hair on his head. He is a seventeen year old boy with brilliant emerald-colored eyes and like the majority of Japanese people, he has a pale skin tone and a pointy, strong-looking nose. A small mole just below his eye dots his otherwise 'perfect' face. Another notable thing that makes him stand out besides his hair is his fashionable sense of style. Even in his new world, 'Angelo' wears clothes that stand out in a good way. Early in his life, after the time when he and his father had a big fight, Kou, the rebellious kid he became, took a step further and decided to brand a single word onto his neck that symbolized what he wanted to be: free. Even in the game, Kou chose to place the same tattoo on his avatar Angelo.

Personality:
Before the incident, Kou was pretty much the high school athlete stereotype; waking up early morning everyday to exercise before getting ready to go to class. Even though he had a fairly good-looking complexion, he wasn't the type of person girls go crushing over. Instead, he had a good group of friends he hangs out with every day after school. Kou was in the soccer club during his last year of high school and was fairly good at the sport. It was there that he met his girlfriend Akane when he 'accidentally' kicked the ball in her direction. It was only after he got into VR that he decided to share his new passion with her by buying an extra NerveGear set for her. When his sister Hina aced her test on this day, Kou gave that extra set to his younger sister for her hard work and dedication and would have bought another set for his girlfriend to play with, that is until everyone in SAO was trapped.

After that incident, he became rather fearful and afraid of what would await him, now knowing that dying in the game meant dying in real life as well. Even though his situation has drastically changed from his previous life, Kou is usually calm and collected, rarely showing signs of distress and fear. Although polite and courteous to most others, Kou shows signs of dislike towards his father and those he deems 'unworthy' of his attention. He now spends time between the dungeons and the city, gathering information about the game. He seldom groups up with other players when heading out of the city to fight, but when he does, he tries his best to support them so they can all stay alive. Kou is a friendly person once others have been around him for a while, assuming you haven't done anything bad to impact his image of you.

History:
The eldest son to the Sougetsu family, Kou was raised to be the next head of Ryuuha Koei Sougetsu, a martial art dating back to ancient times. With his sister, they both trained intensely almost all week. Around the time he was 13 years old, a conflict of opposing sides with his father made Kou resent the art and turn his back away from it. Very tempted to simply move out of the house away from his father, Kou knew that he had an obligation to his mother and younger sister to help out and decided to stay in the house. Whenever he and his father met in the hallway or at the dinner table, Kou would actively avoid talking with him. Because he wasn't practicing the art anymore in the mornings, the teenager spends most of his time exercising and jogging outside the household while occasionally looking out into the horizon to see the rising sun.

Now in high school, with a cute girlfriend named Akane, Kou spends less time at the house and more time at school with his friends and his girlfriend, although he does play on the console with his sister every once in a while. Recently, he got access to a game called Sword Art Online that featured the new NerveGear that was all the rage at school. During this time when he began playing with the 'virtual reality', his younger sister Hina had aced a test at school, taking the #1 spot in her class. As a reward, he told his sister that she could play the new SAO game before he could. Of course, that was just a white lie to make her feel even more special. In reality, he had logged into the game an hour before he gave it to her.
A secret kept only to him, he had purchased another NerveGear set the day before so he could play with his girlfriend, but decided that his sister should use it instead. As soon as she laid down on her bed and dived into Sword Art Online, Kou went into his own room and put on his own set and dived in after her. It was on that day of November of 2022 that the entire world was trapped in the virtual reality known as Sword Art Online.

Opening his eyes, he saw a whole new world around him, astronomically different from the world he left. Sitting on a roof overlooking the Town of Beginnings, Angelo, his avatar's name, breathed in the crisp clean air.

"Now, time to figure out which one of the players here is my dear Hina.." Angelo headed over to the starting point where he and everyone else first spawned by jumping from rooftop to rooftop, getting the occasional shouting from the NPCs below. After a while, he reached the location, only to see that no one was present aside from a few random NPCs walking around.

"Where could she be? Hmm.. if only I had bothered to ask what her avatar's name would be.. then again, this was supposed to be a surprise.."

Angelo looked around and shook his head. He knew she had long since departed the area and is already somewhere else in the town. Sighing, he stretched his legs and got ready for his personal quest, [The Search for the Sister]. Scouring the entire town and all the popular spots, Kou spent a good hour trying to find Hina, to no avail. It was only a few minutes after he began to take a break when the bell began ringing and he was suddenly teleported to the middle of the town. Several other players were being forcibly teleported to the area until the entire plaza was packed. Wondering what was about to happen, Angelo began moving through the crowd in an attempt to find his sister. His search was cut short when a small red <WARNING> icon popped into the sky. Others saw the same thing and murmured about what was about to happen. It suddenly expanded rapidly until it covered the entire sky. Then something red what looked like blood began oozing out of the sky until it formed a giant ball. From it, a gigantic red-cloaked man appeared. It was later revealed to be Kayaba Akihiko, the creator of SAO. The bad news began to pile on from there. As he continued speaking, fear spread out through the crowd like wildfire until finally panic and chaos ensued. Angelo got out of the plaza and scaled up the building until he was on the roof, overlooking the entire plaza.

"Hina.. Where are you?!" Small beads of tears began forming on the edge of his eyes but Angelo blinked them away.

I need to find you so we can get out of here, quickly..

Virtues:

Courage - Kou learned martial arts at a very young age from his father. Although he had a falling out with him early in his life, the skills he had learned had helped him be confident and courageous to stand up to any person or any mob in this game. Even faced with a life or death situation in the game, Kou would do anything it takes to protect his sister and those close to him.

Self-Care - Brought up to be self-sufficient, Kou lived his life the way he wanted to. Always making his breakfast and lunch early in the morning before his school started, Kou knew how to cook, clean, and pretty much take care of himself since a young age. In game, Kou tends to scout out places and gather information inside cities or villages and fight the mobs by himself.

Patience - "Patience is a virtue." This phrase has stuck around through the ages and is still applicable here. Even though Kou is stuck in this virtual world with the only way out is to either die or get to the 100th floor, Kou believes that he will one day survive and get back to the real world to his friends and family. Here in Sword Art Online, the ability to have patience has saved his hide several times over and over.

Flaws:

Loneliness - More akin to a lone wolf, so to speak, Kou normally spends his time in  SAO by himself, gathering information in the cities and villages or hunting mobs and the like for XP. He has lost his friends outside in the real world while he was here in SAO with his sister. Because of this, Kou tends to be by himself and stay away from other people or groups but will not outright reject them completely. 

Envious - Like most people, when someone is envious of someone else, they want what that person has. Kou is no exception to this. He works on himself to become stronger so he won't have to feel envious but there are always times when certain skillsets will present itself. During times like these, Kou would feel inferior and try to figure out a solution on what he could do to better himself or even learn that particular craft as well.

Lewd - Pretty much in the prime of his life with school almost ending, Kou had his mind full of Akane, his girlfriend, the VR game SAO, and his future of what he wanted to do after he graduated. All that was cut short when the Log Out Button disappeared and Kayaba Akihito mentioned how the 10,000 people were trapped inside the game. However, as the days past into months, Kou began to again have those moments of lewdness where he would let his imagination run wild whenever he saw another player of the opposite sex.
