  1. Whoa Mari! You belong on TV and on the covers of magazines! Dat polished stylishness. I see a bunch of peeps in here who really know what they're doing with that hair/makeup/etc. xD

I'm the most unstylish person on Earth, but I still admire dem skillz. >O

It's my 100th post, so I'm dedicating it to you guys by posting here. You all look fantastic! And I like the cheerfulness in a lot of these pics 8D (Also, yay Soccer! You go, Shin! And Keith looks like the younger version of one of my friends. The resemblance is uncanny. Aaphi looked metal with long hair. Baldur's FB wedding pic looks like it belongs in a black and white espionage movie, it's great. And I'm jelly of his hero costume. Mari! I have a budgie too! His name's Nuage! YEE BUDGIES)

  2. Welcome! I hope you'll enjoy yourself ouo  (You should totes join Alfheim! *shot*)

Wow, "PM a GM" sounds like one of those kinds of rhyme to help remember things. I feel like it should be developed into a classic limerick/saying. I might play a short tune on the ukulele and sing it out loud.

  3. Duuude! I lived in Sweden for three years. Gillar du falukorv? 8'D *makes little U shapes with fingers while saying this*

    I miss seeing those. quq

I'm only gonna RP in Alfheim for now, but uh... mind if I ask how you got to the avatar creater? XD

  5. One of Zin's buddies here, reporting for duty! XD (And to hijack your introduction thread with a hello-I-am-here instead of making my own thread, huhuhu.)

I rejoined after a long absence. I was only here for the beginnings of the site~ (it was fun, why did I stop RPing?! I DON'T REMEMBERRR)

Thanks for giving us all an excuse to do this Rene. U BRAVE SOUL.

  6. The rest thing is pretty interesting. Before Kirito could afford a house, it seemed like he spent his nights in inn rooms, like most people. I'm guessing regular returns to the city would be made unless you were willing to risk yourself

As for skills and inventory size, inventory size being treated like a skill may be cool. Or item-dependent, with access to more storage for moolahs by getting a bigger 'bag' and whatnot?

My thoughts on how skills should level are still about the same... through some kind of system where you allot points from leveling up/RP. I'd rather not some saint have to spend weeks developing specific stats and such for every single skill, but if we could just RP things out from having a description of what a skill can do at each proficiency level, it would work for me!

  7. I agree that we don't want anyone RPing Canon characters, since we're trying to create our own story here. >O Yui may be an A.I. present in the game's structure, but methinks if she gets involved it ought to be as an NPC, either mod-controlled or controlled by someone who is helping a mod with the plot n stuff.

However, if the same guild name is used, it won't mean we've got the same background/motivating/story elements at play. It's less original and fun than people making up their own guild names, too, so I don't think we need to worry about official guild names being used since it's likely everyone would prefer original ones anyways. Seems like something a rule isn't necessary for, but if someone had a reason to use a canon guild name I'm sure it wouldn't be bad either.

  8. In the Forum Outlines and Brainstorming thread, at some point we discussed what could be done about the floors and towns we have no information on. According to the wiki,

Aincrad is an iron-and-stone made floating castle that has about ten kilometers floor base diameter and consists of a hundred floors stacking straight upwards, meaning that each floor's diameter is a bit smaller than the previous one. On each floor, there are a couple of large cities along with countless small scale towns and villages, forests, plains, and even lakes. Only one stairway links each floor to another, and the stairways exists beyond the boss room of each dungeons. The «Teleport Gates» of every unlocked cities are connected to one another.

However, they only have descriptions of 33 of these floors. Mostly vague ones, with no mentions of the different areas on each floor. I found someone's personally put together list of information they could find on each floor described in the novels, which gives us a little bit more to work with. Combining the two sources of information, we have:

Floor 0 Black Iron Castle Hidden Dungeon

Floor 1 - Starting City, Black Iron Castle, Plains and Forest, farther has a Deep Jungle with ruins, Tolbana (Raid base close to labyrinth with boss in it), Horunka Village

Nevi suggested we have a handbook to present information for notable locations on floors:

For each floor section, we should have a two stickies. One for an OP city, and one that lists "notable places" in that area for users to decide what seeing to make their rps in. Then in the handbook OOC it can list all notable places in one spot and what floor its on.

I think the same was suggested for a list of NPCs and whatnot. It could get rather tedious for someone to take submissions for areas/NPCs and classify them in an organized fashion... an alternative could be to let every floor section, or even floor, have its own handbook thread within the forum section itself. That way players could easily submit for a specific floor and find information about the floors they are RPing in just as easily, in a few clicks.

Also, since there's no Handbook thread(s) yet, gon just put this here. xD

It is like a massive skeleton being unearthed by the slow archaeologist of time. The mountain sinews and crevices, filled with ash, resemble beds of fossilized clay and sand; a pale gray texture brushed away from brown ridges like smooth, aged bone. Great sheets and plumes of windblown dust waft off those polished peaks that snake across the landscape, filling the sky with an endless mist through which the sun could no longer be seen. During the day, the field is basked in a uniform, colourless glow, and the wind is a distant howl that seems to call from far beyond the curtains of time. In the darkness of night the wind stops and no light falls from above, but the beds of ash spread across the range take on a transparent property and an earthen-hued glow. They are full of ripples and depth like water, and through their veil the shadowy silhouettes and forms of fossils both gigantic and minuscule can be studied.

Welcome to the floor called Persephone's Traverse.

Dunno if it would ever be used, but might as well get the creative juices flowing.

  9. I think we should simply say any bladed weapon or weapon with a pointy metal end goes. If you saw a bow & arrow in the SAO game trailer, then I figure it's canon?

With axes and such available, I'm sure Naginatas would be as well.

Since there's no pure hand-to-hand I'm going to be boring and probably just use a one-handed greatsword (together with a shield when on foot, if I can have one). Basically standard knight regalia? I'd like to ride into battle, but horses are apparently expensive. Well, gonna up my riding skills anyways... who knows when they'll be useful, and I dunno if anyone else would be willing to waste their points on something like this. xD

  10. Glad that worked out. 8'D *high fives SJ*

@Crim: There's an Aincrad in this picture, but I get the feeling it's too much of a lump shape to really look good behind the logo... xD

    Sword+Art+Online+-+08+%252808%2529.png

Why do I keep thinking of LSP?

Edit: Oh, except if it's kept at a really big size compared to the text. Then it might look good o-o

  11. Hey, that turned out great! Thanks SJ 8D

I thought Namine meant to have it both horizontal and at a flat angle (right now, the right side of the logo seems nearer than the left side, as if it's on a 3D plane tilted toward us. But I like it that way, it's cool.)

  12. I don't think there's really room.

But yeah, I'm all for familiars having their own stats and post in a character's page. Having to make a list would add a barrier before we could start implementing the system which I don't think is necessary- but I like the take it as we go idea (making creatures that suit the floor and season, perhaps?) Sounds like excellent fun.

I don't think having a familiar appear in that information area below avatars next to people's posts takes much work to implement, but maybe they could be put into signatures instead.

Maybe I could make a mockup of what I mean sometime!
