  1. Given the options at his disposal, Elias wasn't a man with complaints. "Beggars can't be choosers, as they say..." Elias whispered more to himself, as he recalled the directions to the shop in his head over and over again. Worried he would lose his way. Despite the time Elias Church had spent in the Town of Beginnings, there was still a great deal of it he wasn't familiar with. A creature of habit doesn't stray far. However, it was this need to be comfortable that drew Eli out like a mouse into the open.

All Elias could remember seeing were swaths of armour clad warriors, banging and clanging there way wherever they went. It was uncomfortable to be around. And if it drew his attention, he was certain it would draw the attention of mobs far and wide. No, better to be quick and quiet.

"The Hanger. This must be it. Not hard to miss I suppose." Elias remarked at the size of the sign, "Is it big enough though?"

Ascending the steps through the entrance, Eli found himself amidst racks of materials, mannequins and all other sorts of Tailoring wizardry. The idea of operating a business in the middle of a very real death game had always amused Elias, the dichotomy of fighting for survival while at the same time balancing overheads and expenses seemed worlds apart. He couldn't deny the benefit it could bring in tipping the odds of that same death game however, and was eager to tilt his own chances.

"Greetings Master Tailor, I'm in need of your services. What have you in the way of light clothing or armour that might allow me to better avoid being hit?" Elias Church asked with a loud, booming confidence despite his meek, inexperienced expression.

Let me be the first to say, Welcome to SAO-RPG!! If you need help, contact a member of our Player Support Team or any member of the community really. Everyone is friendly and loves a good role play. Hope to see you around!

The warm welcome is much appreciated! From what I've seen in my  snooping and skulking, that certainly does seem to be the case. I figured it would probably be easier and less cluttered if I asked questions on Discord. I see that you have one but for the life of me I can't seem to find the link anywhere. Could you help me out?

    History

    Spoiler

A notably average person in almost every regard, Zachary was born the second son to the Campbell household as the eventual heir of an IT software development firm and a receding hairline. Perhaps the only interesting aspect of his short life thus far has been his parents' divorce. Not the event itself, as countless couples had parted ways, but that it's culmination instigated Zach and Mr. Campbell's travels to the land of the rising sun when he was 6. Since then Zach developed a penchant for fantasy and fiction, which developed over time to near fixation. His formal education suffered as a result of this split focus and weighing on the guarantee of employment with his father, Zach couldn't seem to muster the fight within himself to strive for loot and exp in the real world. Studying IT was the only demand his father made of him. To pass with a reasonable understanding of how to operate his future business and make something of himself. In this Zachary was happy to oblige, on the surface at least. As this was his gateway to VRMMORPG's and the eventual release of SAO.

Zachary was hardly unique in his interests and trappings, however, the turning point in his adulthood was when he met the people that were like himself. Much of life has been, or will be, decided for you until you start to pay your own taxes, and Zachary was no different. Moving continent for example. In moving away from home to stay on the University campus Zachary entered what felt like to him to be the real world. Free from outside control and checks. It was in this real world he was introduced to the future. Virtual Reality developed in leaps and bounds. Every year breakthroughs were made and the limit of what was thought possible was time and time again surpassed. To play as your favourite character shifted into becoming your favourite character. Rendered in increasingly better detail, the iterations of Eli's avatar in the game of the month developed and grew much like he did. Though at a far more rapid pace. The lines of fantasy and reality began to blend and on more than several occasions their friend group would refer to themselves as their digital counterparts. SAO was the natural progression.

Years in the waiting Zachary ensured he managed to procure one of the first commercial release copies and realize his dream, much to the envy and dismay of his friends; to live in his fantasy world.

    Virtues

    Spoiler

Determination | Unlike reality, this world makes sense. It's fair; what you put in is what you get out, and there is nothing you can't overcome to achieve whatever it is you're looking for. Unlike Zachary, Elias is filled with passion and zeal. Nothing is too great a challenge and nothing, he feels, can stop him.

Compassion | Elias wears something of a hero complex in that he strives to save the day, the maiden and the world whenever the quest marker appears. Never would he leave someone to got it alone, or take advantage of a situation if it meant a player would lose out on what was rightfully theirs.

Patience | Only fools rush in and Elias keeps to that mantra. Why risk missing out on sidequests, or overlooking rare drops all for the sake of rushing through the campaign? Elias can easily calm himself and take a few moments to assess a situation and balance the pros and cons before coming to a conclusion.

    Flaws

    Spoiler

Aggression | Anyone that could see Elias in combat would probably think he takes it way too seriously. And they would be correct. Elias uses killing monsters as his vent of frustration and anger, which there is a lot of and despite best laid plans, Elias can very easily get caught up in dishing out the hurt when the red covers his eyes.

Relationships | Elias isn't quite up to scratch when it comes to real people and relationships beyond a friend request. Not that he is distrustful of people, but that real situations and deep emotions often confuse and baffle him. Elias prefers the rigid structure and rule of games that can be understood.

Sore Loser | When things don't go his way or how he expects them to develop Elias can very easily fall into childishness and irritability. Becoming passive aggressive and not letting points go is perhaps why relationships don't go very deep with him, which is why he doesn't quite know how to deal with them.

    Story Thus Far

  4. Everyone loves a good Stan Lee reference! Good start Eli, they're on your side...

Hi folks, just thought I'd say hi. Again, it seems. Apparently I joined way back in 2014 but I've got no idea what happened. So we'll quickly gloss over that a say simply that I certainly hope to stick around this time! I'm sure it wont take too long to get the hang of things here.

  5. Elias smirked with satisfaction as the creature fell in two before bursting in a shower of light. A small screen popped up displaying the won XP and Col, as well as <> [x1] for good measure. "Nice. Not what I'm after, but I won't say no..."

They seem stronger than in the Beta...I wonder if anything else is different... If one Boar could nearly kill him, would could those Turtle creatures do? Eli resolved to grind on the way to his desired location before turning up to a gun fight with a knife.

  6. The Boar leapt and crashed directly into Eli's chest. The force of the blow sent Eli crashing to the ground, thankfully however any real sensation of pain or loss of breath was only a familiar tingling. Elias quickly composed himself and dashed to reclaim his lost weapon before facing off again.

"Okay, easy now..." A quick glance at his HP showed the beast did more damage with that attack that he would have liked. Enraged slightly, Eli moved forward again and swung to drop the Greatsword down on the Boar's head. See how you like it!

    Eli: [3/5]

    Boar: [2/2]

  7. The weight of the weapon seemed all too real in Eli's hands and the timing of attacking was thrown off by how slow and ungainly he felt. Dammit! Too slow... The Boar's screeching seemed mocking as it dashed harmlessly under the swinging metal before making a tight turn and charging once again, this time with pain in it's eyes.

    Eli: [5/5]

    Boar: [2/2]

  8. Though Eli had been in the starting field not 10 minutes before, this was now in fact his first steps toward the goal. He was poised to take down a wild Boar before remembering his experiences with the Beta and the availability of crafting from materials dropped by mobs and quickly found the NPC Darius to start it.

With dust crunching under his boots Eli quickly found what he suspected to be the very same lone Boar as last time. Not one to leave things unfinished Elias drew the Greatword from his back and paced calmly toward the creature. Only stopping in his tracks when the Boar noticed his presence, Church paused to give the scene some atmosphere before charging with the blade poised. "Hmph!"

    Eli : [5/5]

    Boar: [2/2]

  9. <<ACCEPT>>

"Hahaha! If you think you have what it takes lad, you're more than welcome!" A bear of an NPC by the name of Darius belted out his approval of another of Aincrad's citizens becoming a Blacksmith like himself. Slapping down on Eli's shoulder, Darius continued, "Right well, first we'll find out how well you handle my forge before you get yourself one. Sadly, I've just ran out of the materials you'll need."

"...Oh..." Eli muttered with feign alarm. As RPG's go, adopting a professional can never be a simple process.

"Don't worry lad! You can scavenge what you need from some monsters by the Ore Mound. Turtle-like creatures eat the unrefined ore and process the refined materials into their shells. Bring back a few of them and well get you smithing in no time!" As the two conversed Darius highlighted the Ore Mound area on Eli's map. It wasn't close by but Darius intimated it would take less than a day to procure the necessary materials and cover the travel.

"South west..." Eli mumbled to himself, his eyes drawing up from the floating screen to a mini-mountain in the distance. "Okay, thanks Darius, I won't be long."

"Sure lad, take your time. I ain't going anywhere. Just keep yourself safe, they're a dangerous lot those turtles. I mentioned that didn't I?"

    Great...

Eli focused on the sound of grass crumpling under his foot rather than Darius belching his incessant laughter.

  10. Howdy folks! Thought I'd be quick to introduce myself and say 'Hi' to the community!

I've only recently found SAO and blasted through the series, and my only question was how I didn't know about it sooner?! My second thought was where I could RP this great series, so, here I am!

I'll endeavour to get to grips with the rolling system you have here, I'm sure it'll clear up once I start the RP, and I hope to join you all soon!
