Kazuya watched as Calrex took his best shot at the elusive serpent. "It's okay. I've got him!" He rushed forward activating <<Sprint>> and gauging his strike on the serpent's movements. He ran to the right trying to get the serpent to run at his companion. It worked. The lizard began dashing toward Calrex, just as planned. Kaz used his sword again, shoving it into the ground again and using it to swing around. With his direction of travel sharply changed, he sped toward the serpent and right before it could realize he used his companion as bait, he buried his sword into the lizard's back. It took a second for it to start dissolving into polygons.

    "And done. Good work Cal."

Kazuya saw his companion take damage. It was minimal, but it wasn't something he planned for. He rushed forward, doing his best to kill the beast, but as he neared striking range, the monster dashed right, causing his strike to miss. But Kaz's turn wasn't over. He still had the ability to hit it if he used his maneuverability. He shoved his sword in the ground and used it as a springboard, holding unto it as he leaped to unsheathe it from the earth. Now speeding toward the lizard, he hit the ground running. The lizard tried to sidestep him but he brought his leg about, knocking it off balance, and turning him around. He flipped his sword in his hand and stabbed behind him, knowing though that his attack wouldn't finish it.

He sprinted away from the dying beast. "Sorry, but you'll have to do the honors."

Kazuya watched as Calrex came in with his devastating blow, shredding the lizard's health. Kaz got into position and ran at the lizard head on. With the lizard on its side, it exposed the most vulnerable part of its body, its stomach. Kazuya ran full speed, activating charge. He dashed around the outside just enough to get a straight shot at its stomach. "Wow, this has gotten easier since I last remember." He buried his blade in the poor creature and twisted for extra damage. He pulled it out of the reptile and leaped back as it tried to snap at him.

    "Ok. You're turn Cal!"

  4. Kazuya rolled forward, trying his best to dodge the lizard that was barreling at him. "A little faster than I had anticipated, but we can manage."

Calrex missed his attack by a few inches, and the lizard kept after Kazuya. 'Well, that didn't go well. I guess I'll pick up the slack for him. He must be tired, having dealt with this floor for so long while I was just sleeping.'

He got up and ran a few meters, just far enough to reach a rock. 'Looks like it's about time I actually used my acrobatics skill with my performer class.' With the lizard right behind him, unknowing as to what he was about to do, He leaped up toward the rock and kicked off of it. He flipped backward, landing on his feet, which placed him behind the lizard. 'The hunted just became the hunter.' He bought his sword down in a lethal, diagonal arch, creating a bright red gash in the lizard's right shoulder. He continued his momentum and spun in a deadly circle, trying to place some distance between him and the lizard before it attacked.

'Come on Cal. Back me up. I'm out in the open here.'

  5. Kazuya saw the tail flicker into his line of sight, and his mind started racing. He thought of a plethora of scenarios all of which proved in his and Calrex's favor. "Speed shouldn't be a problem. Agility is something I excel in. Not to mention, you're a level that should easily have enough to take care of this quickly."

He looked at the mound. "I'll be the decoy and step out where it can see. You will be just close enough that you can run in and attack it before it gets to me. I'll follow up with and attack right after, and then we'll take turns attacking until it's dead. It can't cause that much damage before we can, right? Of course we'll be dodging and parrying while we take turns, but mostly our focus will be on offense. Now, you ready?"

Kazuya unsheathed his black blade for a second time and got ready, waiting for Calrex's response. He had learned that starting the fight before everyone's ready usually doesn't end well and causes people to dislike you afterwards.

  6. "Oh. A fallen angel. I guess that makes sense. I do know a a lot about mythologies and religions and such, though if I remember correctly, I'm more knowledgeable in physics and how things work basically." He leaned back in his chair again, having put his curiosity to rest for the moment. He looked at his glass and listened to the girl continue. As he listened, he wondered how much work went into this game. Such small details, like the condensation on his glass, were incorporated in it, which gave it a feeling like reality. Physical contact actually felt like it was supposed too, except for pain, which was reduced to nothing for combat reasons. The girl finished and he looked up again.

"I think your theory just might be right. It checks out with everything I've been told. Anyways, you're jobless? I guess I shouldn't  be surprised since a lot of people focus only on floor progression, but do you have anything in mind? Blacksmith maybe? Or possibly a performer like me?"

  7. Kazuya was walking around at night. He didn't really have any aim to why, just that he wasn't tired. He let out a sigh and looked to the dark sky. The moon seemed to look back and almost talk to him. He let his imagination take over and thought of how the conversation would go. The moon sounded like his father's voice, his birth father, the one that died in the accident when he was little. It was one of the few things he remembered.

"How are you Kazuya? You definitely aren't the little boy I raised. You seem so much stronger, so much more dangerous," It said.

"Well of course I'm different. It's not like I'm going to remain the same after my parents died, now am I? As for the dangerous part, I've taken up fighting as a hobby. Apparently, I'm pretty good. Maybe next time you should watch one of my fights."

"Maybe I will. Anyways, It appears as though you have company." Kaz stopped his made up conversation and looked as the figure approached him.

  8. He watched Calrex flip his grip and take stance. 'Obviously, he knows what he's doing. That's good, but it still needs a bit of work with the whole set up. Other than that, he'll easily pull off the "Dual Swords" technique.' He snapped back to reality. "Now you're cooking with oil." He realized Cal might not know what that meant. "Umm... Figure of speech. Anyways, yeah, that's how you do it." A flick of the wrist and his sword was flipped and twirling around him swiftly. He flick his sword up, caught it and sheathed it. He knew it was flashy, but did he care? Nope. He looked at Cal. "Yeah, I think my performer is showing," he laughed.

He walked a bit further. "Well, I certainly hope those monsters start showing up or we may have to resort to farming the landscape for materials. Now that would be boring, especially for a person who just spent a vast amount of time sleeping. I would think that we are far enough out..." He looked across the landscape and nothing, at least not yet.

  9. A confused look entered his eyes. "Huh? You know me? Argumail? Kill you?" Then it dawned on him. "Oh, You knew me before this crazy amnesia thing. It all makes sense now. You killed a friend of mine, some other stuff happened, and my mind decided it was getting a bit too crowded. Well for your information, since I can't remember anything, I've decided to put all my past interactions with people behind me and just focus on the problems that still plague me, which are surprisingly few. After seeing how happy I am, I suggest you do the same. It's not fun forgetting, but I wouldn't be opposed to just looking past them." He leaned against the tree, feeling a presence above him, but choosing to ignore it.

"Well, Would you mind cluing me in as to who I was just a bit. Oh and try to keep it a bit unbiased, would you?"

  10. "Oh wow, so are you some kind of computer genius? I think that's pretty cool. As for the <<Martial Arts>> skill, it is kinda funny that it's so widespread here, but technically swords are an extension of one's arm. It makes sense that they would allow you to use the original 'sword' in a sense. Also for people like me, who use a one handed sword and no shield, it comes in handy, allowing me to use kicks and punches at the same time I use my sword. It's a great offensive and defensive technique. Also if you use a knife, it's almost necessary." He drew his sword and demonstrated his point. "You see? It really helps you keep control in a fight, make it more one sided. An enemy can't attack if they need to constantly defend."

  11. Kazuya was walking around the third floor, outside of town, when he stumbled upon this odd group of people. A pink haired woman that looked very familiar, a guy that obviously didn't know what volume control was, and another woman who seemed to know how to properly talk to people. He stood back and watched as another man joined the crowd. 'Well they look like they are having fun,' he thought sarcastically. 'I wonder what has them out so late. It's practically the middle of the night when absolutely everyone should be asleep. Then again, I'm up also. Well, nothing else interesting is happening, so I might as well see what they are up to.'

He preceded to approach the group. The closer he got, the more he noticed that the group seemed to have a bit of tension between them. The pink haired woman appeared to be getting frustrated at the loud one, and the smart one was now trying to talk to her. 'Do I really want to go over there? I might make things worse...Well I'm already almost there, so I guess it would be pointless to turn back now.' Upon reaching the group, he walked up to the newcomer and greeted him. "Hey there. It's funny. Here I was thinking I'd be the only one out this late and then I find you guys. What are all of you up to, eh?"

  12. He scratched his head trying to figure out what this was. She almost had him for a second, but that she said that they hadn't met. It was obvious that she didn't really know him since her idea of him in his pre-amnesiac state was off. He still had this odd feeling though. He wasn't sure if it was deja vous or what, but he knew that name.

"Well you see, that's the problem. I can't remember anything. I mean anything. My family, my friends, who I was. It's like my mind just deleted itself and left me only what I absolutely needed to survive. It's kind of funny really. You should have seen me when it first happened. It was hilarious. Anyways, we probably haven't met since you don't remember me, but I do know your name for some odd reason. I think it has to do with my past, but who really knows?" He laughed. "I'll also be the first to admit that this must be a little weird. Anyways, You do look familiar. What do you do for a living?"

  13. He perked up, like he remembered the name, but was confused. 'Why is that familiar? Do I know her? Better yet, did I know her?' He continued searching through his broken puzzle of a memory. trying to find the name. 'Oh whatever. I can't think of anything, but I know that I have heard that name before.'

He leaned back in his chair again, taking a sip of his drink and ordering a crepe. He had nothing better to do, so he opened his HUB and looked through his friend list and didn't find the name either. At a loss, he simply admitted defeat and resorted to speaking with the ice queen. "Umm... Have I met you before? I mean I know I've heard that name before, but I just can't place it. It's kind of eating at me." Honestly, he didn't expect much from this frozen woman. The waitress came back with his little crepe and he handed over a few Col.

  14. He looked at Cal. "Really? Only recently? So it really is that hard? I guess I was a bit reckless before then," He laughed at his apparent disregard for his safety. "Well, it still sounds like fun. I wish I could remember the battles." He continued kicking his rock. "So I'm interested. People obviously had lives before this whole Kayaba thing. I can tell I had one at least. I'm pretty sure I graduated high school and was doing something. Maybe I was a fighter or something. I've noticed my body moves like it knows what it's doing. I have the 'Martial Arts' skill and I definitely know what I'm doing there. Isn't it interesting how Kayaba had the guts to just rip millions of people from their lives and play god with them? Well anyways, what did you do?"

  15. "True. Monsters generally spawn away from the gate and towns. It's almost like they have a certain radius where they can't spawn or at least the spawn rate is miniscule." He continued walking, waiting for something to happen. "So, did you ever participate in any of the floor boss raids? I'm curious because I think I did, but I can't remember who they were or if it's a marvel that I'm alive. It all seems hard but most things seem that way until they are attempted."He kicked a rock to keep him entertained as they talked.

He yawned. 'Wow, I'm still waking up? It's been a good thirty minutes or more, and my body still doesn't know that it's awake. This is going to be awkward to fight in this condition.'

  16. Kaz looked up at the woman. 'Obviously she's trying to use her charm to get her way, but honestly do I really care? I guess it wouldn't matter to me either way.' He looked around seeing if there was any open tables. Oddly enough, there weren't. 'Wow, this place wasn't this busy when I was here last, but then again, it was been several months.' He snapped out of it, realizing that he was making this woman wait.

"Sure, doesn't really matter to me where you sit. I'm by myself anyways, so it would be a bit selfish to keep this table all to myself, wouldn't it?" He picked up his glass and looked at it, taking a drink after a moment. Setting it down, he looked at the woman. 'She's older than me... Should I be a little weirded out by this older woman singling me out or is this normal in this world? I'm not the only guy alone... Whatever, people usually go for the path of least resistance. She probably just wanted a seat and it's easier to get one at a table with a young, easygoing player than one with a battle-harded, a**hole.' He laugh on the inside as he tried evaluating the woman's actions. It was obvious to him that he did this often. 'Yes! Another piece of the puzzle! I was always this smart!' He smiled noticing that he was probably being rude, by keeping to himself so much.

"Well, I believe I have neglected to introduce myself. I'm Kazuya, but most just call me Kaz. It seems to roll off the tongue better."

  17. Kaz was bored. He'd just gotten back from the ninth floor and cooled down, but there just seemed like there was nothing to do anymore. It was almost like he was the man in Rip Van Winkle. He had slept so long the he felt completely out of place and had missed something important.

To placate his need to be active, he decided to have lunch at a outdoor cafe. It's quite obvious that the first floor was full of shops and inns. He sat down and ordered a lemonade, one of his favorites drinks since the beta, and kicked back, thinking to himself. 'Oh, what to do? What to do? There isn't much going on around here now that the fields have been farmed to the limit and the dungeons explored. It's almost like player like me have no purpose anymore... Hmmm...' He stared at his glass as the air condensed on it.

(Any better ideas for a title? I'm kinda spent since I'm also writing a novel right now.)

  18. He looked out at the expanse stretching before him and wondered if there was anybody else out there. It seemed so quiet and secluded to a point. He didn't know if they would succeed at finding any decent materials for crafting or anything in general. He noticed that his companion, Calrex, was examining the landscape with more intensity than before.

"Hey, you finding anything out there? I assume you're using some skill, but is it working to our benefit right now? It's so hot and boring. I really wish something would happen already." He swung his arms behind his head and kept walking. He sighed. "Hmm... I used to fight monsters right and left when I didn't want to and now that I want one to show up, they are all running and hiding. Boooring."

  19. Kaz listened intently as Calrex talked about his fiancée and he couldn't help but think how nice it must be to be in love with someone. Sadly though, that would never happen to him. Not since he can't remember anyone and for some reason people didn't really like his company. He noticed in the city people kind of cleared a way for him when he walked and they also kept a noticeable distance from him. 'Well, maybe it's just because they don't like strangers,' was what he always told himself.

Even through his evident loneliness, Kaz was elated to hear about the plans for a wedding. "That's quite nice, having someone always by your side, isn't it? I feel I had the same thing a long time ago, but who knows," he said through a huge smile. "Honestly, I'd settle for a really good friend that won't disappear or die. I have a hard time losing people, probably why I'm like this." He pointed to his head. "I probably watched a really close friend die and couldn't properly cope with the loss, so my brain just erased all of it for me," he explained, still smiling. "I wouldn't change how I am though. Sure it's a little sad I can't remember people, but it's not all bad. According to a few people, I'm a lot happier than I was before. I guess that's the bliss of ignorance." He chuckled a bit at that last comment.

  20. Kaz reequipped all his gear and walked with Calrex. "Oh yeah. That's a very complicated thing. Well, I'll start from what I'm sure is the beginning. So not too long ago, something happened that caused a similar occurrence as today. I woke up, but that time I woke up without any memories of my past self other than a few things. Apparently, I was engaged to my lover, Alyce, but I think she fell out of love with me, due to my absence of memory. I couldn't even remember who she was, so I can understand that. She probably wants to avoid me now, but who knows?.. I can't really figure out how I feel about anybody anymore. I feel as though there's just a huge gap in the area of my relationships. Oh, as for the username thing, I think I used to call myself by my middle name, Ryuu. It certainly confused a lot of people when I came around reintroducing myself as Kazuya. You really should have seen their faces," He laughed.

He looked around at the barren wasteland, wondering how they were going to find something useful out there. "So what about you? You have anyone you feel the urge to protect, anyone special?"

  21. Kazuya leaned back and stared up at the slightly ashy sky, thinking to himself. 'Wow, I'm one af a dying breed... When I was around, performers were all over. They entertained. They used their special skills to fight and support during raids. I guess times change, especially when you've slept as long as I have.'

"So, you probably want to find something useful while you're here, right? I mean, if you didn't, why even come to this hell-hole?" Felling as though he had regained control of his limbs, he stoop up. and turned around. "Well, if that's the case, how about we get started before the heat exhaustion set in." It was more of a statement than a question.

"Besides, I'm bored and out of it. I don't know if the woman I supposedly love is still around or anything and I'm tired of doing nothing. Well, I guess that's more restless than anything, but whatever. If you let me tag along, I promise I won't slow you down."

  22. Kaz looked at the guy whom had introduced himself as Calrex. He sat down and began thinking of what might have caused him to end up here after such a long time.

"Well Cal, if it's ok to call you that, I don't think I fainted though... Anyways, I feel rude not having introduced myself. The name's Kazuya. I used to be a performer and a fighter, if you couldn't tell from my get-up"

He stretched, trying to regain some control over his limbs. He flexes a bit and feels his body loosening up. "So what brings you to this hellhole?"

  23. Kaz looked up at the newcomer. He didn't seem that threatening, unlike him who had the armor stats of some kind of front liner.

"Huh?" It took him a bit to realize what this guy was saying. "Oh yeah, I'm ok. I'm just a little groggy. It seems I've fallen asleep unknowingly and am just kinda waking up. It's almost like I'm learning to walk again. I also have no idea how long I've been asleep."

He almost fell over. If it wasn't for the guy in front of him, whom he grabbed his arm, he would have been face first in the dirt. "Well this is embarrassing. I used to be a pretty great fighter, and now I can't even stand up," He laughed. "Oh gods, it's hot here. How did I even fall asleep in this place?" It was obviously an attempt at humor, but also the truth.
