well a good way to develope a character is to use them and get to know them through your writing. A lot of writers use methods to get to know their characters, like, writing something thats not ment to see the light of day. Write your character waking up in the morning and going about their daily life. not only will ideas about thier personality and behavior come to mind, but you'll get better in your writing as well

My mind exploded at this concept. Are you saying that I should just write and write, only showing others what is important?

not necessarily, there are all kinds of ways to develop a character in concept. Thats just a freeform way. An exercise. It solidifies an idea of your character to you through trying things and seeing what feels right. like trial and error. Another way is to make an outline much like the basics in the journals. Its less involved and less time consuming, but to some who have done it the other way, it lacks a solid connection, causing murkiness in how you yourself understand your own character....
