  1. Ashtver watched on as Emblem missed his attack and took a bone-crushing blow from the Cyclops's club, while Takao managed to land quite a fierce blow to its back before taking a hit himself, although somewhat less damaging. He turned his attention back to Golden and watched as he leaped into the air, bringing his rapier down on the giant's skull.

Now it was Ashtver's turn. He rushed towards the Cyclops's open back and stuck his spear out, the head glowing a deep purple and sinking into the thick, tanned flesh, but not before he watched the giant turn its head around.

"Crap, looks like the back's not much of a weak spot after all," he cursed, before attempting to pull the spear out. He was successful, and managed to leap backwards just in time to dodge the incoming grab and standing back where he started.

  2. WELL!

I seem to be much better at photo editing than I originally thought! I managed to remove the glasses from Takumu with minimal evidence of editing! Take a look:

  3. So they had two hit-and-run attackers.  That was a huge bonus.  Then there was Golden, a higher level player with possibly higher damage output, and Ashtver who had the longest reach out of anyone in the group.  He guided a spoonful of curry into his mouth as he listened to Takao's game plan.  It sounded rather... practiced, for lack of a better word.  When Takao glanced at his compadres for their input, Ashtver spoke up.

"Sounds like a plan, comrade," he said, giving the boy the thumbs up, before Golden agreed too and led the newly formed band of misfits outside.

Ashtver gazed in awe at the mouth of the giant, dark cave, wind whistling through the cracks in the stone.  I wonder how deep this goes... Ash pondered.  A chill was sent up the spearman's spine as the party strolled through the cavern, not in fear but in thrill.  He couldn't wait to have a go at the Cyclopses.  Soon enough, they spotted a pair of them.  It was a silent agreement that each pair would take one.

Ash followed Golden, and the latter nodded to Ash to tell him that he'd start.  Ash nodded back as Golden rushed in, luring the Cyclops into a defensive stance before dodging off behind, leaving it open for a sneak attack from Ash.  The spearman popped his spear out of his sheath and rushed the confused Cyclops who now had its left side turned to the spearman.  He leapt up and stuck the spear out sideways, impaling the Cyclops's left shoulderblade and causing it to howl - or more so roar - in pain.

Before he could be caught by a counterattack, he swung himself up and pulled the spear out, landing back on the ground in a crouch next to Golden.

    "How was that?" Ash asked.

  4. Hey fellow RPers!

I am currently trying to find a suitable anime or anime-style Faceclaim for Ashtver and I have had zero luck so far, so I was wondering if some people had suggestions on this. The main guidelines for the Faceclaim are:

    - Brown hair that somewhat frames the face

    - Blue eyes

    - Late teens

That's it for now, and thanks for any replies I do get!

  5. The boar pulled itself up, data flowing from the open wound in its side.  Even as an AI, it couldn't help but feel its demise becoming closer, like Death's cloak enveloping it.  It had to make one final stand, and get at least one good hit in, even if it meant dying in the process...

    -----

Once the boar had finished picking itself up and shaking its head, it bowed it large tusks to Ashtver, flames burning in its black, beady eyes.  It actually slightly startled Ashtver.  An AI feeling rage?  Impossible.

At least that's what Ash liked to think.  The boar charged at Ash, aiming to gore him.  The spearman smirked yet again and went to spear the giant pork chop, his boot caught on a large rock underfoot, hidden by the lengthy grass.  He felt his grip on his spear slip, and the head sunk into the dirt behind the charging boar - the boar that had now embedded its giant tusks in Ashtver's gut.

The spearman was pushed back onto the grass, and made a hasty attempt at removing the creature from him, but to no avail.  Instead, the boar dragged its tusks up Ashtver's chest, opening a large, red, pixellated gap on each side.  Ashtver watched his health drop considerably.  It wasn't enough to worry him though.  He grabbed onto the tusks and brought his knees to his chest before kicking out into the boar's abdomen, snapping the tusks and sending the pig sprawling.  Ashtver removed the bony thorns from his chest and strode up to the downed boar, impaling the tusks into the creature's side.  He pulled his spear out of the ground and spun it overhead before bringing it down heavily on the boar, causing yet another monster to shatter into data.

"These monsters are getting more and more difficult, and its only the first damn floor," he complained as he doubled over again, a prompt displaying the 30 Col he earned from that fight.

  6. The boar continued to struggle against Ashtver's spear, rattling the shaft and shaking the metal head from side to side.  Ashtver grinned at the monster's vain attempts to break free.  He pushed forwards, pushing the boar backwards.  The creature kept squealing in anger and fear; all pre-programmed of course.  That was a mentality that Ashtver would soon need to change.

Ashtver kept pushing the shaft against the boar's snout, causing its snorts and squeals to become muffled.  Finally tired of that horseplay, Ashtver unlocked the beast and in a split second it was already charging at him.

Exactly what he wanted.  As the boar went to skewer him with its tusks, he stuck his boot out and caught the boar full in the snout, causing it to become somewhat startled.  Ashtver proceeded to spin the spear around and smack the boar in the side of the head with the steel pommel of the spear.  As the creature fell to the side, the spearman swiftly swapped sides and delivered a powerful although hardly damaging soccer kick to the side of its head, knocking it the other way, before he ended his combo of sorts with a stab through the side.  He pulled the spearhead out and stood back, only to see the oversized pig pull its limp body up.

"Damn, how many hits do you guys take?" he asked rhetorically.

  7. The Primal Raiment fitted Ashtver like a glove, and it didn't look too shabby either.  He stowed his spear before dropping his rear onto a nearby rock and opening his menu to pull out some bread and a bottle of water.  He sculled the entire bottle before moving onto the bread, chomping right down on it.  It may have tasted like absolute crap, but it filled him up at least.

Ashtver checked his health in the top corner of his view.  It was full, and the reasoning behind that; he had gone up a level.  He smirked at that fact.  It was still about an hour until sundown.  He stood up and made his way out to the green fields in search of another fight.

    -----

It was a fight he received.  As he strolled through the plains painted orange by the setting sun, he happened to kick what seemed to be a large boulder, and in frustration he kicked it once more, only to have the 'boulder' move and trip him up.  It was a large boar, obviously furious from having been woken up so rudely.  The spearman scrambled up and popped his spear out of its sheath, poising it at his right, his left foot and hand forward and he prepared for a second bout of 'mortal' combat.

The boar scraped its hoof on the ground, before bowing its head low and charging Ashtver.  Rather than attacking, the young spearman decided to draw the creature out.  He bent low and prepared for the large pig.  As the boar made contact with Ashtver, he locked the shaft of his spear between the boar's tusks, mimicking the movements of his teacher and friend, Takao.

"This'll be fun, huh, Piggy?" he taunted again, keeping the boar locked.

  8. The Wolf eyed the spearman off as it picked its half-dead body off of the smooth grass.  The virtual scar in its side let red pixels float out and up into the air.  It breathed heavily, each bestial breath raspy and clogged.  It wasn't going to go down without a fight.  There were flames in its eyes, a nigh-inextinguishable spark in its virtual heart.  The beast flared its nostrils and bared its wild fangs once again in a last ditch attempt to eat the boy...

    -----

Ashtver eyed the Wolf off as it picked its half-dead body off of the smooth grass.  It had attacked him; this was what it deserved.  Not to mention it was just an AI, too.  However, it looked like a wildfire was erupting within the creature's body, as if the program had some sort of simulation of emotion.  Ash gave the idea a cocky smirk.  It's just an AI.  It'll take ages for that to actually happen.

The Wolf bolted at Ash once more, rippling the grass in its wake.  The spearman went to drive the spearhead into the beast's chest, but his plan was foiled as it leaped over the head of the spear and latched its sharp jaws onto Ash's thrusting shoulder, chipping away at his health ever so slightly.

"Get off me, you bastard!" he cursed the Wolf as he brought the spear back and impaled it in the abdomen, causing it to release its iron grip and explode into data.  A prompt popped up into Ashtver's view as he doubled over, puffing and holding onto his injured shoulder.  He looked up and his focus went onto what the item was.

It was a set of light armour; Primal Raiment

  9. The bush rustled ever so quietly as the creature of the forest crept through it, approaching its prey.  It bared its gleaming white fangs, its eyes burning red as it watched its next meal: a boy with brown hair and wielding a large spear.  The beast let out a low growl, sitting back on its hind legs at it prepared to leap at its victim, unawares of his approaching danger.  The silver Wolf leaped out of the foliage towards the boy, teeth bared in a ravenous and bestial grin...

    -----

Ashtver could hear a light rustling behind him in the bushes.  Someone or something was creeping up on him, but he didn't make it obvious he had snuffed it out.  By the sounds of it, it wasn't very good at sneak attacks.  He looked out to the orange horizon and began to whistle to himself, awaiting the assault.  Before long, the cracking of twigs and branches was heard as a large body swept out of the bushes towards him.  He spun around, spear abreast, and caught the Wolf's jaws on the shaft of the spear.

"Hah, you're mine, you got that?" he threatened the ravenous creature before turning to the side and throwing it away, its enormous hairy body tumbling along the grass.  The Wolf gathered its bearings and stood up, but not before a spear pierced its side, causing it release a bloodcurdling howl.  Ashtver retracted the long spear and dashed back to a better vantage point, waiting and watching for the Wolf's next vigorous attack.

  10. (Okay guys, I was just wondering if we could keep a set post order so we don't wonder who's supposed to post and, although unlikely, so that multiple people don't post at the same time. It just feels really chaotic having people posting at random points, and if you wait for others to post, you'll have much more material for your posts xD Thanks ^^)

'You guys are good at combat, right?' was a question Ash really didn't want to hear.  He blushed as he scratched his chin.

"Um, I believe Takao will have something to say about my combat," he informed them, his voice shaking with embarrassment.  Ashtver's jaw dropped as they entered the bustling tavern, hundreds of different (and sadly artificial) aromas flowed through the air around the group.  The spearman breathed in heavily and closed his eyes, letting the smell of food fill his senses.  When he opened his eyes, though, the group had already moved on without him, so he jogged to catch up.  He sat down at the table and was smitten when Golden offered to pay for the meals.

Ash fervently read through the menu, his stomach growling at him.  Finally he settled on a kind of Curry (it had quite the unusual name), before Takao began to explain his expertise, which Ash already knew from experience.  When Golden told them about his Thorns, Ashtver was amazed.  In most games he played, Thorns was and effect that made any attacker take a percentage of the damage they deal to you, and he was pretty sure this one was the same.  Now it was Ashtver's turn.

"Well, I use two-handed spears, keeping my distance from enemies while attacking them at the same time," he explained confidently.  He couldn't blow this chance at getting allies, "When I get to higher levels I'm planning on getting things to do with detecting enemies and objects so I can prevent ambushes and eavesdroppers.  I look forward to working with you all," he gave them a warm smile.

  11. Takao had perked Ashtver's interest when he began to tell his companion about this Hasai girl and how she was a good blacksmith.  When a trade prompt popped up in the spearman's view, though, he was startled.  Fifteen crafting materials for free?  A sandwich was enough, but crafting materials?  But then he was told of the reason, as he could pay five of the materials to Hasai for a perfect weapon.  By this point Ash had stars in his eyes, and gladly accepted to do Takao the favour of handing over the rest.  He accepted the trade on the popup and the materials were transferred right into his inventory.

Soon enough yet another male voice joined in the group.  He seemed quite young, younger than Ash himself at least.  He seemed to also know Golden, and the young spearman felt even further abandoned.  This newcomer introduced himself as Ren and Ash forced a smile this time.

"Heya, Ren, my name's Ashtver, but you can call me Ash.  Nice to meet you," he looked down at the boy as he spoke, who then proceeded to offer a drink, but Ash kindly waved the offer off.

Thankfully, Golden suggested they find a tavern somewhere to introduce themselves better.  Ash showed his confirmation with a lively nod, and then the boy suggested to fight some cyclopses after.

"Oh boy, you bet that's what I wanna do!" Ashtver agreed enthusiastically.

(NOW it's your turn to post Ren xD)

  12. Ashtver flopped down against a tree and placed his spear beside him as he watched the sun set over the green fields. I got bugger all today, he complained, his brown bangs blowing in the light breeze. He couldn't help but wonder - what was it like on the higher floors? Apparently the third floor was actually rather peaceful, so he decided he might head there at some point, but that wasn't a good choice until he leveled up a little more and got better at combat. He was nearly taken out by a puny boar, for goodness sake.

Staying there on floor one wasn't ideal. He probably looked like a wimp, and that wasn't something he wanted to happen. Bored, he flicked his legs up and pushed into a standing position, grabbing his spear as he went. However, when he looked around there were basically no monsters - not even a single boar or wolf.

"Ah, crap," he swore, before walking off to look for something to kill.

  13. Takao and Golden began speaking of some kind of Guild and someone by the name of 'Hasai', and Ashtver felt like quite the outsider.  Then again, these two were higher level players and possibly had many more contacts than himself.  He turned around and faced the blue sky out over the fields and forests.  It still dazzled him with how real it all seemed and felt.  However, it was like the poisoned apple in the Snow White story - it looks so divine and enticing, only to end up being deadly in the end.

When Golden spoke up again asking if he could join the two, Ashtver turned back around to face the two.

"I wouldn't mind.  I guess the final decision's up to Takao, though," he gave a friendly smile again and chuckled a little, scratching the back of his head.  This player seemed strong, too, possibly stronger than Takao.  Again, Ashtver felt left out.  The level difference between Takao and Ash was already large - he couldn't imagine the gap between himself and Golden.  However, he was going to get stronger, at least as strong as Takao, then he could fight alongside him normally, without being protected all the time.

Sounded like a gamer's pipe dream.

  14. SO MANY TO CHOOSE FROM!

But I have to say that my most saddening part in the series was Asuna and Kirito's 'final' moment together at the end of the first Arc, telling eachother their real names and everything, and hearing Asuna as the world disintegrated at the end there finished it off nicely.

However, if we are talking about the ENTIRE anime, including the second season...

I'll have you know I cried at the end of Mother's Rosario.

However, the most overall emotional part, not just sadness but anger and fear and everything, was when Kirito 'died', before his willpower brought him back to deal the killing blow to Heathcliff.

I mean, HOW COULD YOU NOT THINK THAT WAS BADASS?

  15. (@Golden: Two slight problems with the context of your post.  First of all, neither character is red-haired, they both have brown hair.  Second of all, I'm not sure who the post refers to with the 'starter blade', but Ash wields a spear while Takao, I am led to believe, wield an Uncommon sword.  Just letting you know ^^)

"Oh, so it's not just the fact that I'm crap at this, huh?" Ashtver gave a light chuckle as he pulled his fist away.  He watched as his companion and teacher swung the blade over his shoulder and into the sheath like an expert swordsman.  Then again, he probably was in this world.  Ashtver noted Takao's advice about getting new items, and, coincidentally enough, a grey box popped up in Ashtver's vision.

He took a closer look, and noticed that it was a Good spear.  It wasn't going to change anything, but when Ashtver closed the popup and replaced his spear with the new one, it definitely looked better; the butt of the spear now had a steel pommel, there was a kind of string at the center of the shaft and base of the head that hung like skirts and the head had two, talon-like parts at the side.  He stepped back and gave it a few swings before nodding his head, and deeming it decent.  He raised the butt of the spear behind him and slid it down into the sheath, the leather catching on the string in the middle and his left hand supporting the pommel on the weapon's way down.  He looked to Takao.

"Thanks for the advice!" he thanked the boy, before the latter questioned him of his choice of armour, "Well, seeing as with my spear I'll be sitting back a fair bit, I'm thinking of going for light armour," he informed Takao, before the two were interrupted by a third male's voice.  Ashtver turned to the source of the voice to see a boy, possibly a few years older than himself, with a rapier stowed at his side.  He proceeded to introduce himself as Golden, and Ashtver politely bowed his head to the newcomer.

"My name's Ashtver.  Nice to meet you, Golden," he introduced himself before standing up with a friendly grin.
