  2. *Creeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek*

Dust, darkness and unhappiness. That's what Shard saw when he looked through the shack door he had just opened. The man stood there, his mouth tight, and eyes low as he surveyed his forge, once his home, now looked nothing more but an abandoned shack. It was painful for him, standing there, remembering the many days and nights spent hunched before the forge, pounding away at his well earned mats, attempting and failing to sell his wares. Even before he had gone all wander-hermit, the shack wasn't much- his smith shop wasn't much more than a wooden stall, a sign and this shack.

Taking a step in, Shard could see all of his old equipment still there, hammers, mallets and tongs waiting to be used. His forge itself was unlit, decorative chunks of wood sitting alongside, causing Shard to softly smile. The reasoning of this world never failed to amuse him. The forge, the crafting, even getting dressed was all simple button pushes and gestures. Those logs by the forge serve no purpose- they exist because a real forge would need them, and the game-dev's decided that they should be there anyway- for decoration. For immersion.

    What a joke.

Shard finds a seat beside the forge, his elbow lightly brushing up against his crafting hammer. Turning his head slightly, Shard lifts the hefty tool in his hand, inspecting it closely. The heavy iron head is worn with nicks and scuffs, and the handle had seen better days, the leather bands worn and frayed. It was a good tool; one which he had crafted some of his best equipment. Had.

Opening up his inventory, Shard scrolls through until he see's it. He has one mat left. A Ventsteel ingot. Something he had found and kept for months now, untouched. He had been saving it for something. He was never sure what, but perhaps now was the time to see. Looking down, Shard gauged his armor, a simple beginners iron-breast plate. It was cheap, and provided no real protection. Too bad he wasn't high enough level to make some- a new weapon though? He could do that.

Activating the forge, for the first time in quite a while Shard smiles widely. The warmth emanating from the glowing forge, the smell of burning metal, and the Cardinal System interface appearing before him, Shard felt at home.

Placing his sole mat onto the forge, Shard lifts his hammer, and then brings it back down.

    "Holy Sh*t"

Shard's dark eyes glisten in the dull orange light of the forge, in awe of the creation that lay before him. A sword, so massive, it must have been almost, if not as long as Shard himself was tall- just over six feet long. As the name, Artorias Will and it's info populated Shard's info-screen, the man whistled lowly, eyes squinting as he went over the impressive stats of the weapon. It was heavy. Incredibly heavy. If he hadn't leveled up not that long ago, he wouldn't have been able to even wield it. Slowly, as if carrying a new-born baby, Shard lifts his new blade, inspecting it's balance and feel. It was certainly fancier than anything he had wielded before. Fortis Gleam was all function, but Artorias Will was beauty and the beast. Smiling, Shard equips the blade to his gear, the blade vanishing from his hands and appearing on his back.

    "It's a good sword."

  3. Here's another old one...

    Blacksmith Rank 1

    Item Quality: Perfect

ID: LD: CD: (Old Dice System)

    Effect(s): +1 ACC; +2 BLEED (3/3 Slots)

    Description:

A One-Handed Sword made of Ventsteel and Red Iron Rust, making it darker and heavier the most blades. The metal of the blade is surprisingly quite translucent, being a deep crimson in colour. The grip, hilt, and pommel are a more standard grey, with articulated hand-guard, and decorative glass. The sword seems to glow a faint red in darkness, it's blade hot to the touch when foes near.

  4. Alright, to start off, here is some old stuff from way back when...

    _______________________________

    Name: Fortis Gleam

    Source: http://www.sao-rpg.com/topic/938-shop-f2-the-ferrous-maiden-shards-smithshop/?p=279287

    Blacksmith Rank 1

    Item Quality: Rare

ID: LD: CD: (Old Dice System)

    Effect(s): +2 DMG (2/2 Slots)

    Description:

This Two-Handed Sword is made of Ventsteel, the metal of the blade changing tone with the shifting light, moving from silvery white to a deep gunmetal grey. The blade is a robust hexagonal shape, being quite thick for most two-handed blades, over an inch in width. The point itself is also itself simple, a standard half-diamond; long enough for stabbing, but thick enough for smashing armour. It's cross-guard seems almost crude, simply being a thick block of ventsteel, bolts through the top and bottom sides. The grip is wrapped in white cloth, the core being steel, and bound leather.
Lastly the pommel is a single square shaped brick, incredibly heavy to balance the massive blade, with various inscriptions carved into its flat surfaces. The sword seems to faintly glow in darkness, a light silver aura strong enough to see, but faint enough to never notice if not looking. It's very unassuming nature, is its power. It weighs more then a standard two-hander, but it hits with incredibly increased lethality. Being heavy enough to crack plate, sharp enough to pierce hide, and durable enough to block hits. On the bottom of the pommel, in carved, bold letters, A single word of Latin is placed. Fortis, meaning "Strong".

  5. Shard watches as Dante's spear impacts the monster with incredible force, the sweep almost knocking it down. Preparing his sword skill as the beast tried and failed to counter-attack Dante, Shard inhales deeply. Once more, Shard charges forward with incredible force, his glowing two hander ripping through the air, towards his target. Dark eyes moving quickly in motion, Shard jumps up, preparing to bring his blade down hard unto Avalanche's head, but before the blade can find it's mark, Avalanche brings up it's great arm, reflecting Shard's attack to the side, causing Fortis Gleam to impact into the snow, causing an explosion of white powder.

    "Sh*t!"

Shard quickly rolls back and away from the creature, before it launches a counter attack. Well that could have gone better.

"So this is the new multilevel, Ganzamian-style mansion I have produced- complete with two-level pool, in-suite forge, and a moat. The current running price is 350,000 Col or 1500 mats. Insurance is an extra 100 mats."

  7. Shard watches as Shuyin is smacked back by Avalanche, his face tight as he runs back around the side of the monster while its hate is focused on Shuyin. Seemingly skating across the snow, Shard slides into place just out of Avalanche's line of sight. His sinewy hands grip the hilt of Fortis Gleam, holding the massive blade to his side. Face focused, Shard inhales deeply, suddenly activating a sword skill, causing his blade to blow a deep orange. Taking a step forward, Shard then explodes into motion, charging towards the monster with a side strike.

    *Swwwwwinnnnggggg-crunnnch*

Shard's two-hander impacts deep into Avalanche's side, creating a deep rift just below its right arm, causing the monster to let loose a deep bellow. Quickly retracting his blade, Shard jumps back, keeping his blade trained on the snowman.

    "Keep pushing!"

  8. "Almost there..."

Shard continues to trudge through the forest on his way to Amazon where a warm bed, food, and drink awaited him. Also not having to worry about a Fell-Spider attacking him while he slept in a tree. That was a nice bonus. Shard was no making his way along shirtless, his muscular body glistening in the light, covered in sweat and mud. He had long before decided that the armor was only serving to slow him- and if he ran into anyone or anything, he could just quickly re-equip it.

    "Almost there..."

He continues to repeat himself, as if each time he said that specific statement, it would make a teleport crystal appear. Oh how he wished he had a teleport crystal- how he wished he didn't have to make day long treks across entire levels to each his destinations. Wiping his brow with a naked forearm, Shard stops for a moment. There's something in the background. It's faint, but it almost sounds like...

    Footsteps.

Unsheathing his massive blade, Shard brings Fortis Gleam to bare, before quickly re-equipping his iron-breast plate. His face is cool- well, it's actually quite hot, but his expression is a mask of professional focus. Could it be another player? A mob? Amazonian Warrior's come to life to claim him? The latter seemed the least likely. Sword facing back down the path which he came, the dark steel of his blade gleaming in the light, Shard prepared for a fight.

  9. Shard watched with a focused expression, bringing Fortis Gleam to bare as Avalanche was knocked back by Dante's blow. Noticing it was stunned, Shard jumped into action, his blade glowing as a Sword Skill activates. Air explodes from Shard's lungs as he takes a step forward, Fortis Gleam glowing a deep red. His eye's go dark and squinted. It's go time.

    "SHUYIN, SHARD, ATTACK QUICKLY!"

With an explosion of movement, Shard charges forward, his blade pointed forward in a stabbing motion, cutting through the air with a sick screeching whistle.

    *Scccrunnchhhhhhhh-BAM*

Instead of the satisfying connection Shard expected, his blade was met with the massive trunk-like arms of Avalanche, parrying his blow and sending him flying back with incredible force. Sliding backward through the snow, Shard remains on his feet- wobbly but unharmed. Glaring at the beast, Shard let's loose an explosive exhale, before sprinting back to the side l, meaning to

follow up one of his companions with a switch.

    "Damn."

  10. "God I hate this floor."

Shard stares up into the dense canopy above him, his face a mask of pain and annoyance; Fortis Gleam hangs loosely from his hand as he stands in place. Sweat permeated his every pour, his clothing soaked in perspiration, the light of the tropic sun causing a glisten on his brow.  Honestly, he looked defeated- was he? No probably not, just tired of this damn floor.

"Two weeks in this jungle hell..."

Shard grumbles aloud, contemplating the events which brought him here, wondering why they couldn't have taken him- hell, anywhere else. He would have taken floor four over this, and he hated that place and it's damn snow. This floor wasn't only hot, but dangerous. He couldn't count the number of times he's had to make a run for it after stumbling into entire packs of level ten Fell-spiders or Kong's. Too many.

Lowing his head back down to the treeline, Shard brings his gloved hand up to wipe the sweat from his brow, sighing quietly as he ignored the stinking heat. Bringing the two-hander back up over his shoulder, Shard continues on his way back to the main village of the floor... Amazon.

"God I really hate this floor."

  11. *Crunch-Crunch-Crunch*

Shard shivers silently, his face tight as he keeps his barring's through the weird snow storm he finds himself in. Honestly it boggled him, how he keeps running into such terrible weather on a floor that some describe as being romantic, and beautiful. More like bleak and formless- just a massive [censored] floor of snow and sadness.

"Just a bit more... Just a bit more..."

Shard chants his quiet mantra under the thundering of the storm, reminding himself of why he was out there. Every step he takes, every mob he slays, every mat he gathers brings him ever closer to his forge. The heat of his blast furnace, which had lay dormant for so long, would once more awakened. The thrill of the Cardinal System, a testy mistress which would dingle the hope of a perfect item in front of you, only to take it away. The feeling he would get when he created something- something worthwhile, and could possibly help get him out of this hell.

His home. His Forge. He would have it back. He was ready to go back. No more hiding. No more.

    __________________

    "Sh*t it's cold."

Hiding behind the skeletal remains of a once proud tree, weathered and beaten by the snow, Shard checks his maps, noting his location on the floor in relation to his set waypoints. His info-broker sold him some info pertaining to a mob on this floor that dropped a well sought after mat known as <<Frost Iron>> which could be used to forge both weapons and heavy armor alike- exactly what he needed to get back into the smithing game. The deep black metal, known for it's cool feel to the touch, and the intriguing marble like waves would make for great looking gear to boot.

Rubbing his hands together for warmth, Shard looks up from his map and scans the horizon. It was next to impossible to see anything pass forty feet, and it was already almost entering Aincrad's night cycle. Exactly what he wanted. The mob was reported to be nocturnal- some sort of Ice Elemental unlike your normal lumbering icebergs.

Mustering up his will, face resolved, Shard pushes forward, trekking back out into the great expanse of snow.

He almost made it more than a few steps too, before he felt something give way beneath his foot.

    "Huh..."

First there was a crunch, then a slushing noise, then an explosion of air which sucks him into some unknown darkness. Wordlessly Shard curls into a ball, his HP slowly dropping as he was thrown about, falling to some unknown fate. The air around him sounds off like a tornado, and he could have sworn he heard something in the background.

Finally, with a sound uncomfortably close to a splat, Shard slows to a stop, the feel of snow blanketing him. Slowly, as to lessen the pain which pulsed through his muscles, Shard un-balls and sprawls on the ground.

    "Fu*k everything."

With a groan, he slowly sits up, bringing a gloved hand to his head to brush off snow. From what he could see, he was in some sort of cavern or tunnel. It was quite wide, and seemed to be illuminated by... glowing ice. Well, this is a fantasy world- there could have been torches in here and that wouldn't of surprised him.

Stretching out his muscular arms, Shard places his hands to the ground on his sides to get up, but before he does, he notices a strange sound again. Turning his head, Shard looks with squinted eyes back up the dark tunnel from which he came, the sounds of something coming only getting louder...

  12. Shard looks at the other man, then down to his offered- declined drink. The mystery man was right that the stuff was cheap. Right out off a first floor tavern- if anything, it tasted like a mix of water, sugar, wood-shavings and sadness, but did it have kick? Taking a sip from the flask, Shard frowns. No, it was pretty weak too. With a sigh, Shard looks back up at the man dispassionately, as if he just insulted a favored sports team or politician.

    "It's cheap too."

Letting those words hang in the moisture steeped air for a few moments, Shard grunts and tosses the flask, the liquid container exploding into a flash of pixels as it bounced on the jungle floor. Waiting a few moments after the piss-water vanished, Shard looks back up to the man, his eyes dark, a bit tired, but as non-threatening as Shard could muster.

    "I'm Shard. You?"

  13. Shard follows just behind both Dante and Shuyin, the dusky man keeps a steady pace, mentally going over the quest information the broker had sold him. A large field boss, some sort of Ice Elemental that appears- a larger Ice Elemental on the icy-tundra fields of the fourth floor, awoken by the cries of it's children. Or at least, that's what Shard's melodramatic info-broker told him.

I have become death, bringer of doom to Frosty the Snowman...

A hint of a smirk graces Shard's face as he internally enjoys his reference to an obscure children's character from the nineties- or was it the eighties? letting out a low snort of dissatisfaction, Shard returns to his thoughts of the Quest. Dante used a spear- meaning slightly longer range, Shuyin was a rapier user, so he would fair best in close combat, and Shard himself with is claymore was more midrange. A pretty good mix all in all. Untested, but Shard had- well has some hope in the party.

"So Shard, if you don't mind me asking, whats your story?"

Pulled form his thoughts by Shuyin's voice, Shard looks up at the young man, Shard's face a mask of disinterest and stone. Did he really want to tell his new acquaintances his story? Not exactly. It was a bit long, and a bit cold out for that. Not to mention sad to tell. They seemed like good people, but Shard wasn't sure he was ready to talk about that.

"Not much to tell. Just trying to get by, same'is everyone."

Shard hefts his sword, Fortis Gleam, higher onto his back, turning his head to the side, scanning the snowy horizon as if trying to convince everyone he was looking for mobs. Eye's squinting in the extreme white light, Shard licks his chapped lips.

"How much farther, Dante?- Do we have any idea what sort of attacks this Avalanche is throwing out? My info-broker was a bit vague on that."

  14. The fringed air of the fourth floor nips Shard's exposed skin around his neck and face, his normally deep tanned skin shows a slight blush as blood is pumped to stave off frost-bite. Was he properly equipped for combat in tundra? No, probably not. His rugged cloth clothing only gave the slightest of warmth, and his iron breast-plate only served to become a block of ice on his torso. Shard looks down to his armour as he trudges through the snow, frowning as he notices icicles forming on his deep-grey armour.

    Should've bit the bullet...

Shard spent the last of his Col on repairs and food for the trip, forgoing warmer equipment and teleport crystals. Shard lets loose a deep gust of steamy breath, resigning himself to the choice he made. Heck, the walk wasn't all that bad. It sure as heck sobered him up.

    <<Message Received>>

Shard slows his pace, bringing a gloved hand up to open his menu to read Dante's PM. He met Dante and Shuyin just a few days ago on the first floor. There was some confusion about a young woman, a drink, a few pretzels and maybe some hurt feelings, but Shard felt like it was all more or less resolved. Closing his menu, Shard shrugs the particles of snow off himself, and keeps moving, noting on his map that he was encroaching on the meeting spot.

A crooked smile graces the man's face, part amused, part resentful. This was the first party he had joined in... months- maybe longer. Looking up into the snow white sky, Shard takes a deep breath of crisp air and grins.

    It's nice to get out...

After a few minutes of walking, grumbling about the cold, and wondering why the game-devs thought it was a good idea to include inclement weather to SAO, Shard crests a small snow-dune, spotting his companions waiting in the snow eating- wait, are those pretzels?

I could go for a pretzel.

Making his way down to the two younger men, Shard raises his hand in greeting, his face stony but his eyes flash with amusement was he watches Dante inhale a pretzel.

"Enjoying that?" Shard eyes Dante with a small, crooked grin before turning to Shuyin and nodding in greeting. He didn't know these guys that well, but they seemed... good.

(OOC: Going forward my posts will be shorter, I promise!)

  15. Well hey man, feel free to shoot me a PM or heck, just post some idea's here. I'd equally like to get some multi-person RP's going.

Maybe even look at taking on a quest or boss-mob!

For simplicity sake I'll be posting some of my idea's here in a little bit, and maybe see if I can garner some interest, rather then having people come to me with ideas.
