  1. Hawke Identifier and Alchemist

    Image result for hawk emblem

The Hawke Identifiers and Alchemists shop is set up near the South gates of the Town of Beginnings. It's a safe spot for beginning players to stop by and have items identified. They can also stock up on items and potions.

When you walk into the shop, the left side has a nice oak counter with a tall blond man behind it. He is wearing glasses and a black apron, ready to take your request. Behind him are shelves lined with trinkets and armor. Weapons lay on display on each side of the man. However, be prepared, he is a bit shy when it comes to new people.

When you choose to the step up to the counter on the left properly greets you. "Welcome, to Hawke Identifier and Alchemist. How may I be of service to you today?"

If you look to your right, you see another counter with shelves behind it that are filled with salves and potions. A tall, blonde woman stands behind the counter. When you walk over, she greets you. "Hello, my name is Joanne Hawke. I am the alchemist in this shop. How may I help you?"

  2. As James sat down at the table, he showed his sister the pocket watch that he had identified. "Isn't it amazing?" he asked excitedly, his mind still buzzing from his accomplishment. As he spoke, Peppermint showed up with their plates and lemonade. "Well, aren't you a cutie?" she commented, giggling as she turned and went back to the counter. "Enjoy, you two!"

James couldn't help but blush. He wasn't used to receiving much attention from women, but he wouldn't let it distract him from telling his sister about all that had happened. As the two dug into their lunches, he went on about the identifying process and about the shop he planned to make. He hadn't decided where to put it yet, but he would decide on the location soon enough.

As he spoke, he saw his sister smiling, and he couldn't help but smile with her. Today had been a good day. And he hoped the days to come would bring just as much joy and happiness with them.

  3. As the pair parted, James took a moment to catch his breath. He hadn't jogged or even ran that far in his whole life. He was just so excited to finally become a merchant that the excitement had driven him the whole way. After a few moments of deep breaths and panting, he headed back over to the small, make-shift shop next to the inn. "Hey, Billy," he called as he entered through the small doorway. "I have the three items that need to be identified now."

He found Billy looking over some items and jotting something down in a small brown notebook. He looked up in surprise when he heard James' voice. "Oh! You're back! Good." He put the notebook away and came over to James. "Now let me see what you have."

James took out the three items. Three trinkets total. "Good, good," Billy muttered to himself as he looked the items over. "Now let me show you how to identify it." After a few minutes of explaining the process, James was ready.

"Alright, here goes nothing," he said. After a few minutes of concentrating, he had finally identified an item. "Yes!" he cried. "I did it! Thank you, Billy!" He shook the kids hand.

Billy laughed and said, "Good. Now you can go out and make your own shop. Good luck, and have fun."

James left the shop, excited and ready to share with his sister the item he had identified.

  4. "Yeah, yeah. I'm perfectly fine, sis. Don't worry about me," he said before charging towards the first buck. With a scream and a thrust of his spear, the buck fell forward and burst into pixels. "Finally!" he yelled, before collapsing down to the ground, looking to see if the buck had dropped anything good. And it had. "Thank goodness."

He turned and saw his sister sitting down. "Alright, time to get up. We're heading back to town now. While I'm inside with billy, feel free to do whatever you like in town." Just then his stomach growled. He laughed. "If you could get us some lunch as well, that would be awfully nice."

He led the way back towards town, his hunger and want to finish the quest and become a merchant driving him. He couldn't wait to identify these items and use them in battle as well. He hoped that one of them would have an evasion enchantment.

  5. "Don't jinx me!" he yelled back to his sister as the buck charged. He attempted to knock the buck to the right of him with a swing of his spear, but the buck managed to duck under and hit James in the chest, sending him flying into the air. He landed on the ground a few feet away. Dusting himself off and picking himself off, he said, "See? You jinxed it." He spit a bit of grass that had somehow gotten into his mouth and readjusted his glasses. It's a good thing these things didn't break. I wonder if they even can... He didn't want to try that thought out in case they actually did break. Then he'd be left blind against the enemies. And lord knows if there were anyone who could make glasses in this game that worked.

"Yeah, this buck better make up for these hits with some good loot. Because he's being a pain in the-" He stopped talking and pointed to his rear.

  6. "How you holdin' up, sis," he asked while waiting for his buck to charge. That last hit seemed like a good one. Before he could even wait for a response, the first buck charged towards him, antlers down and its nostrils flared. Oh dear, it seems like I made it even angrier.

He took a defensive stance and held the staff of his spear in front of him. The antlers locked with the wood of the staff, now it was a battle of strength. The buck began to push James back, his feet sliding back in the grass. With one thrust he slashed across the snout of the buck. It reared up and attempted to strike him. He tried to jump back, but the left front hoof of the buck glanced him across the shoulder. He grabbed his shoulder instinctively and took another dash backwards. Luckily, the buck hadn't landed a direct hit.

  7. James charged forward into the first buck as it was running away from his sister's attack. He sliced along the torso of the animal. But he wasn't able to jump back in time like his sister did and was hit in the chest by the buck. He was thrown a few feet away, the wind knocked out of him. He got up, bracing himself. "Wow, I must have underestimated them." He stretched. "Though, finally taking a nice hit feels nice. Doesn't hurt too bad."

He dusted himself off and watched the second buck as it came charging back towards his sister. "Joanne. Shield!" he yelled. He knew her shield could stand the attack, but it still worried him. He wasn't comfortable seeing his sister take hits.

He checked his health points. Only one gone. Huh. This armor is pretty good. I'll have to complement Bahr later on his craftsmanship once more.

  8. James twirled his assault spear between his two hands, having a bit of fun with it, as he approached the third boar. "Don't run, or you'll make it worse," he said. He aimed his spear and was ready to throw it when the boar started charging towards him. Wrong move. His spear left his hand and went all the way through the boar before the beast burst into hundreds of blue pixels. "Glad that's over and done with," he commented as he bent down to check the loot that the boar dropped.

"Yes!" he cried out when he found another item that needed to be identified. "Only one more to go, Joanne! I'll lead the way." He set off in a hurry towards a nearby field. At this point he was following his ears, and he thought he had heard the sound of two animals fighting. It sounded as if there were two or more of them up ahead.

  9. James watched his sister use her shield to block two powerful attacks and revert the damage back to the beasts. He was amazed by the thorn mechanic in the game. But he didn't have too long to marvel as he focused his attention on the female boar. She was racing around, trying to avoid both players at this point. He managed to sprint and cut her off, cutting her across the face. The boar then ran in the opposite direction, just trying to get away. But James and Joanne would not let any of the boars escape.

He turned as he heard the noise of pixels. The fourth boar had just fallen to his bleed effect. He ran over, excited to see what the beast had dropped, but was thoroughly disappointed when he found nothing besides the usual amount of col. He sighed and looked over at his sister. Hopefully she would have more luck with the fifth boar.

  10. "I know, I know," James had replied when his sister had told him to be patient. She had always told him that when they were younger, but patience was never one of his strong suits. Instead, he preferred to charge in or do things on a whim.

As they approached the boars, he decided on attacking fourth boar. It seemed distracted by the other boar that it was already fighting. It could be an easy attack. Gathering up his strength, he charged in, thrusting his spear into the side of the boar. The thrust managed to throw the boar a few feet away from its attacker, causing it to struggle a little while trying to get up. The beast had been winded. "Sister, let that one die. My bleed enchantment will kill it in the next turn." He turned his back away from the wounded boar. His next target would be the fifth boar.

  11. At this point, James let his frustration fuel his attacks, making them a bit sloppier but also faster. And that speed finally put him at the advantage. Now that the boar was limping, he had just enough speed to be able to slice right through the little piggy. It burst into satisfying pixels that exploded around James. He was breathing hard. And now he was laughing. "Yes, finally!" he yelled. "That darn thing is dead." He wiped a bead of sweat off his forehead. "That thing took too darn long to kill," he said to Joanne.

Next, he looked down at the loot the boar had dropped. He proudly held up a trinket, his eyes glinting happily in the sun. "We did it, sis. I finally got the first one. Now let's move on to the next." He was grinning, excited to fight the next enemy. He was starting to like the fighting mechanics of this game.

  12. Instead of trying to attack him, the boar decided to give James the whole run around. It dodged left and right through his attacks, which only made his anger boil over. "Come here you stupid little pig!" he yelled as he charged forward a final time, his assault spear's blade shining in the sun. He dug into the ground with his heels and thrust the spear forward, cutting into the flank of the boar. It let out a long whine and limped away at a slightly slower pace. Unfortunately, he hadn't managed to land a deadly hit yet. He frowned and looked over at his sister, who was waiting patiently for him to finish.

"I tried my best to offer the darn thing a mercy of an easy death, but it doesn't seem like it wants to stay still and take the final blow. Go ahead and go for another hit." He marched back over near a tall tree, fuming and frustrated.

  13. James looked over to see his sister taking off her helmet. Good, she's getting some rest. She deserves it since she's been doing most of the damage this time. His attention was dragged away from his sister from the sounds of the boar's hooves hitting the ground. Turning, he saw the beast charging towards him, deadest on damaging him. James grinned and raised his spear in a block. The boar managed to get one tusk through his barricade and knocked James back by hitting him in the chest. Falling back, James caught himself and launched his spear forward and into the shoulder of the boar. The spear fell out and onto the ground as the boar ran to the other side of the grove to lick its new wound.

James looked back and motioned for his sister to join back in. "Just try not to get another critical hit," he teased.

  14. James sighed, a little disappointed that the second boar hadn't dropped anything good for them. He turned to face the first boar. I'll just take my frustration out on you.

He grinned and charged forward, chasing the beast for a few paces it tried to run away. He managed to slash its behind before falling back due to fatigue. Man those guys are fast. I'll need to find a slower enemy to fight next time. He watched the boar run around for a little bit before it decided to calm down and choose its next target to attack. It looked at Joanne and then James. Intimidating woman or thin man with long pointy spear. Which would it choose? James knew Joanne wouldn't attack the boar her next turn so that he would be able to maintain the higher hatred between the two of them. Hopefully he would be able to take out the boar sooner rather than later.

  15. James nodded his head towards his sister and took her advice. He needed to get a critical with this shot or he wouldn't get the items. Determined, he charged towards the second boar. Since it was so wounded, he assumed it wouldn't try to dodge as quickly. However, he underestimated the pig and only managed to land a glancing blow before the darn thing dashed away towards the other side of the field. James cursed under his breath again. "Well, it seems like you'll be getting the rewards for that one, sister," he commented. "Let's both keep focusing on the first one.

He stepped back so that his sister would have room to charge the second boar. He just hoped that she wouldn't land a crit on this one so that he'd still have a chance. He took a moment to stretch in his new light armor. It felt so light and nice on his lithe yet muscular body.

  16. James nodded his head as Joanne explained the plan. "Sounds good. Lead on, sis," he said before following her North along the path through town. He looked up at the intimidating guards as they left the town, shivering under their cold stares. They may have been NPCs, but they were still a little scary.

After an hour or so of walking, they soon came upon two boar in a shaded grove. James, crouched low, motioning for Joanne to get behind him as he made the first attack. As he shifted his weight in preparation for an attack, a twig snapped underneath his left foot, giving his position away. The boars began to run away, so he made an attempt to lash out and hit at least one of the boars. But he was too slow with his attack, missing horribly. "Darn it," he cursed under his breath.

  17. James followed the kid in front of him into a tiny shop. "Geez, it's cramped in here," he said as he looked at the items around him. When the young one in front of him exclaimed that he was out of materials, he replied with, "I'm going to have to find some materials for you, aren't I?"

The kid looked up at him and said, "Yes. I need you to bring me three items. That should be enough to give you enough practice at identifying so you can learn the trade." He nodded his head and sent James on his way.

Outside the make-shift shop, he looked around. Trying to find his sister. She was going to help him on this quest so that it would go by quicker -- hopefully. He saw her standing at the entrance of the inn nearby. He waved over to her, trying to get her attention. "Hey, Joanne! Over here!" he called.

  18. James entered the shop, having finally found it after an hour or so of searching. The shop had been quite hidden among all the turns and twists of the first town's lesser area. He looked around the store, taking in everything he saw until his eyes rested upon a set of armor. Upon seeing it, he quickly made his way to the counter and dropped a bag of 1000 col down. "Excuse me, sir," he said. "But I would like to buy that piece of armor right there." He pointed to the "Hakama of the Bloodgedge" that was hanging up on the wall.

After purchasing the item, James equipped it and headed out the door, saying thank you as he left the entryway.

  19. James walked into the shop and quickly made his way to the counter. "Hello, sir. I would like an assault spear made for battle." He laid down 9 T1 materials upon the counter. "I hope these will be sufficient." He spoke quietly, trying not to make too much eye contact. And his posture -- it seemed as though he was trying not to draw too much attention, despite being over six feet tall.

Once the transaction had been completed, he replied, "Just let me know when it is finished, and I will return as quick as I can." He hurriedly left after finishing the sentence, as if he wanted to disappear from sight as quick as possible.

  20. James followed behind his sister, laughing. He hadn't seen her so excited in a while, even in the real world. It seems like she's actually managing to find enjoyment in this twisted game, he thought to himself, smiling. He was glad that she was coping with the harsh reality well.

As they entered the tavern, he sat down and looked at the menu that an NPC waitress brought him. His eyes opened wide. The possibilities of what to order were endless, and they could even take orders to make that weren't on the menu. After a few minutes of looking at the menu, he decided on some prime rib with some mashed potatoes and gravy. For a vegetable, he chose steamed green beans.

While waiting for their food, he and Joanne made small talk, discussing how mum and da were doing. "They're both worried about you dearly. They take turns going to the farm and coming back to see you in the hospital. . . it's really taken a tole on them, especially ma." He hung his head, sighing. But when he raised his head again, his sad expression was replaced with a smile. "But, I'm sure they would be glad to know that you're doing so well." He grabbed her hand across the table suddenly. "We need to escape this world. Not just for our sakes, but also for their's," he said, his eyes glinting with a hidden fire.

  21. James followed his sister back to town, striking up conversation along the way. "So, what have you been doing this whole time? I just arrived here today, so I don't know much of what there is to do for fun around here." While waiting for his sister to respond, he took out his spear and practiced spinning it around. Then, realizing that the weapon may actually veer off course and hit Joanne, he decided to put the weapon back in his inventory for later. He would need to get used to it by himself away from the town and anyone else.

After she responded, he told her what he had been doing while she was in game. "I waited for you to wake up for months . . . That's when I knew that I had to do something to help get you out of here. I mean I'm your sibling. I'm supposed to help protect you." He frowned. "I'm sorry. I'm bringing down the good mood of this place." He gestured to the trees around them and the birds flying through the air.

  22. The boar was nearly finished off. Just one more hit, and he would get a free meal and some good loot. Grinning, James charged at the second boar, absolutely demolishing it with his spear. He stabbed straight through the beast, causing it to explode into pixels upon his blade. Panting, James lowered his blade and looked down.

"Nice!" he called out, picking up some col and a rare trinket off of the ground. He was going to find a merchant who could identify the item as soon as he got back to town. He hoped it had some cool enchantments on it, or at least was worth a decent amount of col. He turned to his sister, holding up the bag of col he now had. "Look, sis! Seems like I won. You owe me some lunch!" He laughed, surprised that he was actually enjoying himself in this death game.

  23. James couldn't help but let a large grin cross his face when he realized that he was finally beating his sister at her own game. She had always been amazing with swords and armor when they were younger. It seemed that this game gave him the advantage that he needed.

Turning to face the second boar, he saw it charging towards him. As the tusks rammed against him, he slashed across the beast and gave it a laceration on the chest. The boar let out a scream and then raced back to safety, away from the sword that had stung its skin. James looked back towards his sister, watching her boar charge towards her. Come on, you got this, sister, he cheered her on in his mind.  Her boar was still at nearly full health. All she needed was one critical to bring it down to a more manageable health.

  24. Oh it was totally on. As soon as Joanne made the battle into a little friendly competition, James began to focus. He wanted to show his sister that he could do this. He could defend himself and her, if needed.

He lifted up the heavy spear in his hands. Time to do some killing, he thought to himself. He launched himself forward, shoving his blade through the back half of the boar. He tried to dodge out of the way, but the boar got him in the side. After landing, he checked where the boar had attacked, just a minor scratch to his armor, but nothing much. He was in awe. He expected to feel more pain, but it seemed as if the game dulled the pain to a certain point.

As he looked over to his side, he saw the first boar run towards Joanne attacking her. "Joanne!" he called out, warning her of the incoming attack.
