  1. Brainne smiled and nodded. "It's quite a unique name. I doubt I'll have difficulty remembering it."
You'll have much more reason to remember it shortly.

"Oh, right!" she exclaimed, "Well, you see, I'm kind of scared to go out of the safe zone by myself..."
"Most are," Asheall confirmed. If he wasn't who he was he might have been scared too.
The girl laughing nervously, rubbing the back of her head. "And you seem like a strong player, so I was wondering if you would accompany on my first lessons quest. I can pay for lunch or something like that afterwards as well." She gave him a sweet smile.
Hmm. I suppose I can spare some of my attention to a request.
"Then I will allow you to join me for this quest," he said, flicking open his menu and sending Brainne a party invitation, "Though we'll have to see about that meal."
It all depended on what she wanted him to eat. Though he really only deserved the best of foods, he knew from experience that even the lowest classes had some hidden treasures.

  2. The player walked around to stand in front of Asheall, happily offering her hand.
"The name is Brainne. It's a pleasure to meet you!"
Asheall took a moment to observe her attitude. She hadn't used a player name, which was rare. And she seemed to be overjoyed to be meeting him, as one might be. He also noted that she unequipped her weapon. Clearly there was no aggression, no challenge in her greeting. Which was good. He pitied the one who tried to do so.
"Naturally, Brainne," Asheall said with a bit of a smirk. Regardless of her intentions, how she was acting towards him was either gutsy or downright oblivious. Taking her hand he continued, "I am Asheall. Try to remember it."
He released Brainne's hand. He preferred to avoid shaking hands with others, but she deserved a minimal amount of regard.
"Now then. What were you wanting?" he asked, looking only slightly down at the player.
Aside from meeting me, of course.

  3. Asheall heard a random player calling out to who he could only assume to be him. "Oh, hello there! You wouldn't happen to be doing the first lessons quest as well, would you?" the random asked, sounding hopeful.
Asheal turned his head and glanced over the player. She was wearing shiny silver armor. She had a thin, red rapier hanging at her side and long hair that moved just barely in the slight breeze.
I suppose I can afford to give her a moment of my time, if only to humor her.
"I am doing the first lesson, yes. And who exactly is asking me?" he asked, his voice not rude, but it certainly was overbearing. Asheall didn't bother to turn and face the plebeian fully, but did turn his head to nearly look her in the eye. That was the most he'd usually give people. Why would he give an extra more attention than he needed to?

"Hmph. To think that I, of all people, would be reduced to doing a gathering quest," the man ranted to himself, "If I wasn't in a hurry to level up I wouldn't bother with such a degrading task."

Asheall walked down the street with hubris simply oozing from his very being. He walked tall and proud, his eyes seeming to look down on you without having to actually do it. His beautifully ornate sword flashed in the bright sunlight. Anyone who didn't know better might assume he was either very a very high level or some form of royalty purely because of the way he carried himself. His black and gold jacket faintly shimmered, making the combination of Asheall's glimmering countenance and his proud aura very eye-catching.
Of course, that not to say that I could possibly struggle with such a simple task.
Players and NPCs alike gave the man a wide berth; it was well known that getting involved with the proud player was like agreeing to be talked down to as if Asheall was some sort of king.

Asheall decided to make the jog back slower. No need to strain himself-- not that this would strain him. He simply didn't know how far he'd be running. Plus, this way he didn't have to bother with being nearly as acrobatic as he had been. Because of this he noticed things he did not see before, though he only didn't see them because he wasn't looking for them.
Vines were hanging from trees on some places. He noticed a large snake slither away from him and something that looked vaguely like a raccoon climbing a tree. He also noticed some eerily white antlers behind a bush, but it wasn't there for long before, in a way, disappearing. Strange, that one was. But Asheall didn't pay it any mind. It didn't really matter anyways.
He came across a particularly large rock. It was too tall and steep for him to climb, so he started to make his way around it.

Alright, nothing here, so there's no use in staying. Asheall started off again, going towards the Southern end of the town of beginnings. And once again he reentered the forest, beginning to dodge trees, hop over roots, vault rocks and slide under branches. Hm, that parkour stuff he competed with him in was really paying off now. Just went to show how good he still was at it.
Now then, I need to find a good place to gather materials. Where would I find--
The forest came to an abrupt stop at a steep ledge. Asheall grabbed onto a branch and managed to stop himself from h=going off the the edge only just in time. He looked down. It was a pretty big drop; at least fifteen feet straight down. Naturally, he wouldn't have fallen, but still, it was good to know about it.
Well, can't gather a ledge. Asheall turned around and started jogging back to the East gate.

This might be a place to hide some kind of quest or special mob... It would make sense. That's a pretty typical thing to do in an MMO. Maybe I should further explore--!
To Asheall's surprise the forest suddenly opened up into a clearing. He leaned back and skidded to a halt. The clearing was fairly large, and backed right up to a massive entrance to the town of beginnings.
Ah, I see. So there are multiple entrances to the city. Then, in that case, the forest is just here to give some variety. Interesting.
Looking around Asheall saw no players here, a massive contrast to the town's North entrance. He must be on it's East side, so this would be the East gate. He made a quick note to self: the East gate is usually a good place to avoid players. After a few more minutes of looking around Asheall determined there to be no materials to gather. Really, the gathering balance was terrible here.

Asheall was glad to be able to reason that his cardio vascular health was just as excellent here as it had been in the real world. He kept up the swift pace as he slowly rounded the floor's wall, and very quickly came across a forest that almost seemed to collide with the Town of Beginnings, stopped only by the massive stone wall. No reason to stop. As if a mass of trees could slow down Asheall. Diving head first into the foliage he began to vault and hop over tall roots and rocks, swinging and dipping under low branches and swerving around large trees and sudden rocks. True to his word, he was not letting this forest beat him. His pace was surprisingly well kept; but even Asheall had to slow down a little bit, much to his annoyance. But he couldn't afford to pick up the pace too much without running out of steam, so he allowed himself to be slowed, though only a small bit.

The wind picked up suddenly, making Asheall's coat flap harder within it. It must be announcing his arrival. Hm, good to see that Cardinal was reaffirming his importance.
Now, I should get to doing that quest. Then again... I don't like feeling forced into doing this certain quest. Perhaps I'll do something else instead.
He looked around the field. Though there were less than before, there were many players and parties who were fighting boars. Perhaps he'd join them? No, it would be better to not imitate the very ones he had only recently scorned.
Thinking back, he should be doing something productive. He was probably getting ahead of Asheall while he was just standing there. Now, what could he do..?
With a quick twist he started jogging along the perimeter of the city walls. It would be good to have a mental map of where he was, so he jogged along at a more than brisk pace.

Asheall decided he could spare some time at this rate. He went back into town.
I think I could use some new equipment. As good as I can be with just this, it's smarter to get better gear early on. I think one piece of heavy armor and one piece of light armor would be preferable, and a lighter sword would be nice. Mine isn't at all heavy, but my preference is key to success.
With that he started to search for a blacksmith's shop that looked even the slightest bit worthy of crafting his personal equipment.

He'd found one and placed an order. Good thing too. He had been about ready to give up on this town's blacksmiths when he'd found one that seemed to have someone of decent caliber. He'd better not disappoint him now.
With that done and out of the way Asheall headed back to the gates and out of town. Back to do as he pleased.

  11. Asheall looked at the shop. This place looked like it had a decent blacksmith. At least, the smith had better be good. After all, it was his gear he'd be working on.
He walked up to the door, completely ignoring the closed sign, and opened it. He strode in and ripped two request forms out, filling them out.
"I'll need this armor and this sword as soon as you can manage to make them. The armor can come first, if it must, but I'd rather not have to wait all that long," he said, not wasting any time on greetings or pleasantries, "Message me as soon as it is done. Here's your payment. I hope I'll be seeing you soon."
Without another word he turned and walked out the shop.

    2/5 T1 Materials

Now that he knew what to look for Asheall was going to have a much easier time gathering the materials needed for this quest. He walked back towards the city. If the quest didn't require any fighting then the materials should be grouped closer to the Town of Beginnings. Or, so logic reasoned. As he approached the town he saw, off to his side, a group of three players fighting a boar. Two were using long spears to prick the thing while one with a shield absorbed damage. Hm. It was a smart plan.
Though it still disappointed him that they would need a team to fight the weakest mobs in this entire game.
As he neared the town of beginnings Asheall found another material; a second brightly colored flower, this one yellow with green on it. He picked it and added it to his inventory. This shouldn't take too much longer if it keeps going as well as this.

As his eyes finally reached a hill Asheall decided that it was about time to abandon this area of searching. There was simply no use in it. He turned right and started walking through the grass, trying to find something. A slight breeze picked up, making Asheall's brightly colored jacket flutter a bit in the wind.
One would think that if they could make weather this well they could make it easier to find simple thins to pick up.
He kept walking until he came across a brightly colored pink and blue flower. He decided that this must be the kind of thig you could gather and bent over to pick it up. Sure enough, once he'd picked it the flower automatically added itself to his inventory.
Hm. So this is the kind of thing I'm supposed to be looking for. Not as obvious as I would like, but it's far from difficult.

So this is the place that so many label as being a death trap. The place they say that only fools go to. Well, it is clearly not a foolish place to be. After all, I am here.
Asheall walked further and further away from the Town of Beginnings. He passed by parties of players that were grouping together to fight off boars and gather materials. Did they truly need to be in such large groups? If so it was a little sad. The only things out here were the lowest levels of monster; no, even calling them monsters was a bit generous. All the creatures here were simply animals set up for the slaughter.
Hm. He wasn't finding anything that was an obvious gathering spot. Perhaps he'd have to actually search for things to pick up. How annoying.
He scanned the ground around his feet, looking a little further and further away as he observed. Still nothing. Odd, the gathering balance in this might be somewhat badly done. That might explain any trouble he may have.

Asheall's every step simply oozed with confidence. He stood tall and straight, his eyes gleamed with precedence, and he walked with no regard for the crowd around him. After all, it was their responsibility to get out of his way, not his to get out of theirs. Why would he of all people have to subject himself to anyone else?
People must have finally learned that after all this time. It was commonplace for there to be a wake in the crowd of people simply for Asheall to walk undisturbed. It was good that they were learning their place. He really didn't like having to take time out of his life to explain to such people that they had no right to ask anything of him.
Soon the man arrived at the edge of town. He passed out of the front gates and walked out into the field. Now, he should get this quest done and over with. No need to spend his time on this quest. He was much more valuable than that.

Asheall entered the NPC's workshop. It was a small, cramped place that, in all honesty, was a disappointing start to his adventure. He'd expected a grand introduction to the game-- Well, one for him, at least. The rabble clearly had no issues settling for this.
"You there, owner of this shop. Give me your quest so I can be done with it," he said, talking down to the man who was clearly labeled Zackariah.
"Ah, thank you adventurer. I just so happen to be short on materials for my potions. Would you be willing to go and get me some?" The old man's voice was unsteady but clear.
Asheall nodded and started to turn, not bothering to waste any extra time on the NPC"I will gather you some materials. Don't get comfortable, it won't take long."
With that the blonde man pushed open the door and started off immediately towards the fields of floor one. This was a pathetically simple quest; he wasn't even given a specific item to gather. Could it just be anything? Hmph. Then he would have no problems with this quest.
