  1. I wonder if she ever worked in a renaissance festival at all. I mean she is very... very young so it's easy to think she grew up in those. Maybe her parents would LARP a lot... Who would do something like that? The real world is fine, you don't have to play 'make-believe' just because you aren't happy with your life. He shook his head and listened to the rest of what she said. He absent mindedly picked up a second material, already 40% done with this and she hadn't even found her first one. I'm going to be out here for a very... very long time aren't I?

    "They usually look like things you could make, or seem to be slightly out of place. Like a leaf when no trees are around, or fruit when no plants make them. Think of it like how kids shows will color over an area a different shade in order to draw your eyes towards that object or location." He thought about how Mari explained it to him and he prayed that he gave enough detail for all of that to make some sort of sense. "So... Calcifer. How'd you get access to this game? Did you buy it or was it a gift?"

  2. Along the edge of a bright green field lies a large rustic-styled building with the two large doors propped open. Approaching it, the smell of berries and other fruits fill the air. As you enter the two large doors, the warm interior comes over you. The inside of the winery is a fairly modern style. A few tables litter the open dinning room, and on one side there is a bar with a plethora of different wines for someone to try or to buy. On the other side of the dinning room is a long line of windows, one of which being an exit to an open patio with outdoor seating. It has a perfect view of sunset, and is great for many people to sit, laugh, and drink some wine.

  3. His thoughts wondered on guilds for a moment, but he quickly shook it away. "I did my best work by myself, I don't need some organization in order to get the wealth and power that I want. It's going to be a bit difficult that's for sure, but I'd rather do it my way than owe someone a favor or credit for getting me this far. Well, whatever I decide, I think I'll decide that as I head back to town. I have a large amount of materials so I think I'll be okay for right now. Besides, I can always do this again... It was sort of fun I think, in the more working type of fun that I experienced while I was back home. I wonder what my home will be like when all of this is said and done... I hope I still have a place at work.. I don't think I'm that replaceable."

  4. He cocked his head in confusion at the 'no worries' Her speech patterns are so confusing... It's like multiple people talk for her... Oh well, something to worry about later. He smiles and waves to her as she walks away. "Okay, now to finally get this profession." He sighed and turned, heading towards the city. He arrives at the bakery in which he accept the quest and he walks in, briefly enjoying the smell of cooking and the warmth of the kitchen. I'm glad I chose this profession. He sighed for a moment before heading for where the woman was that he accepted the quest from.

    He approached the cooking station, and she began explaining how to use it. He got out the 5 materials that he gathered as he listened to her discuss what to do/make. He nodded along with her and when she was done, he went about making his first item. Please be easy... Please....

    After almost using up all of his materials, he was finally able to create his first food item. "There we go.. Definitely not going to sell this one." He muttered to himself. He finished the quest, walked out of the shop, and went about claiming his first winery. I wonder if you can have multiple shops. Hmmm

  5. "She... She really messed up someone else to not get the final items... when SHE didn't even get it? I'm so proud." He said the last bit with as much sarcasm as he could muster. Luckily I don't need to be on the front lines to do a lot of good. Slightly worrying that many people on the front lines are well known, but there aren't always a lot of people who are well known without the front liner 'tag'. He mentally sighed and stopped walking at the gates.

    "You gave decent company for the task at hand. Thank you for showing me around and giving me information about the game. I will contact you if I have anything I may need help with. Or possibly when I'm a cook and have something for trade." He flashed a smile and walked into the town. "Good luck on your travels Mari. You are a good teacher, despite the flaws." He calls to her with his back turned, entering the city.

  6. But in any case, I don't think finding people will be too terrible, possibly just a bit annoying. Which, I have dealt with far worse things in the past so things like networking are definitely in my wheel house. I know Mari said her guild kind of just throws things they find useless into the guild storage, so maybe I could start looking there for items, if I get in that is. I don't think she even knows that I am interested, she just knows that I'm possibly looking at the ATP in order to jump on the economical front... Is the economy the best way for me to go in order to get a name for myself here? Combat definitely is not my strong suit, but maybe political relations between guilds? I could raise myself up through a guild in order to get a bigger name for myself? Maybe?"

  7. "I'm honestly surprised there are not more gatherers/support builds in this game. Fighting terrifies some people and if you are not trained in it then there is a real chance they would die. I know my own limits, combat will be reserved for quests only until I'm actually strong enough to take on monsters." He shrugged, knowing that made him sound weak. It's not weak it's practical. I know my limits as of this moment and they are definitely not encompassing fighting digital creatures for money and experience. I can definitely create a fortune beyond that.

    He listened to the skill list that Mari started to mention, and he began making a mental note of different skills he should look into in order to create a better build. Gathering and Hiding... Hmm. The scout part of my build will probably take a lot longer in order to fully come about. But that will be a more late-game idea. I have to worry about profits first.

    His face perked up when Mari mentioned having items in her inventory. Then is quickly drooped when he realized that she did not have the item in her inventory. "It's fine, I never expected you to give me anything. It's a nice thought though." He smiled a little and approached the entrance to town. "Is this where we part ways? Considering the color above your head I don't want to cause any issues in town."

    @Mari

  8. Adeux listened to Mari talk and he nodded, taking notes on her build. Reminds me of someone I knew from an MMO back in the real world... wonder what she is up to. He ignored the thoughts and looked at her equipment, nodding and very impressed by the gear she has. "That gear is actually really cool. I know this is an MMO so things don't always make sense. But magma in what seems to be light armor? Come on SAO." He chuckled and looked back to her face.

    He looked a bit sour at her tone when she asked him why he wanted to know. D*mn lady it was just a question. He shrugged it off and thought about his build for a moment. "I want to get whatever I can that deals with looting. But I think I might want to build a scout-esque build after that? Evasive and can activate debuffs like bleed or paralyze on enemies. Hence my starting sword." He summons his basic rapier. "It has bleed and paralyze on it." He said all of this while walking towards the town, wanting to get his craft down so he can finally have his shop.

  9. I'm slightly dreading this afternoon already. Please.... Please tell me she is older. Please..... Please tell me this is an act. I like the theater but this is not Broadway acting. He inwardly sighed and looked up at the sky. He listened along to her and thought for a moment on his response. "Aincrad has.... Gone a certain amount of good. I've made a new contact and started to learn the systems. I've made some plans for future progress for me. How about yourself? Done anything... knightly lately?" He regretted saying that as soon as it came out of his mouth.

    Luckily, he was distracted by finding a material, the first out of the two of them. Good, maybe after we are done with this I can distance myself from her and call upon when I need justice served. He smirked a little at his thought and banked the item into his inventory. "Alright, I found my first of 5. I've been hunting materials a lot lately. I'll try to assist you in finding some as well."

  10. "Well it was a gold mine while the brief moment lasted. I do have a lot of good material though. I'm definitely going to be making this a regular thing. I can't usually get experience the conventional way because my build wont be combat focused for a while. But, this is definitely a nice way to grind out levels while also enjoying the scenery. I understand why my mother loved gardening so much, it was calming and enjoyable to just be with nature... Okay but back to business. I need to figure out the best way to make contacts with people and get a hold of them. I can start looking in guilds, but that could take a long time in order to figure out who's in what guild and how I can get a hold of them. Maybe I could start putting things on the town board? That's what I did when I found Mari and hey, it definitely worked some how!"

  11. "There we go, it's been a while since I was getting more than one at a time." He scooped up two smaller rocks and placed them into his inventory. "Okay, back on topic. I think I could have done well with a sibling. I have no idea why my parents decided to stop after me. I mean you can't mess with perfection, but someone else to bounce ideas off of and have company with would have been beneficial. Besides, maybe I could have convinced my parents to get a dog when I was younger. They just would not listen to my whining." He laughed a bit and looked up at the sky. He had spent a decent amount of his day just wandering in this garden area and taking in the scenery. "I definitely need to come out here more often, it's a gold mind."

  12. "F**k skill here we go!" He held up the final material. It was.. a shiny rock. But a shiny rock will do! He quickly put it into his inventory and saw the marker now drew him towards the quest giver to being his crafting. This should be fun. He grumbled mentally and listened to the rest of what Mari was saying.

    She explained why she was in the game and what she did for teaching. He couldn't help but smile when she was describing the airport and all the fancy things that you can get into. Oh yeah... Had some really good food and massages in some airports... God I miss flying. He frowned but quickly pushed it away. He noted that she kept pushing away the real world and not discussing herself before the game. Maybe I shouldn't ask questions about it, don't want to bother her. "Well, is there anything you really specialize in here? Of course you taught in the real world, but what is your fighting style in this world?" He smiled and cocked his head a little, genuinely curious about her answer. Find out if she has a similar build to what I want, and maybe copy it a bit? Make sure it's good at least.

  13. God she dives in deep. I think her parents created LARPing.... Hopefully it is just a character. He mentally groaned and plastered a smile on his face. "Yes, I believe I did. If you don't mind me intruding, would you be willing to have some company? Today I was just casing the area and getting a feel for the town. If you want, we could do this together and try to get it done faster? It's up to you of course, I don't want to intrude. I'm assuming knights can do many things on their own." He smirked a little and looked at the girl.

    His eyes turned to the older gentleman that was talking to Calcifer. He approached the gentleman and began the quest dialogue in order to get it. "Hello! Are you new around here?" His eyes rolled and he began to talk and skip through as much dialogue as he could. They could have streamlined this so much more by giving you audio lists on your screen and you could either talk or tap what your responses are. Maybe that'll change, who knows. He finally got through the dialogue and hit accept. Another quest appeared on his screen and he nodded, closing it and turning to Calcifer. "Well I have the quest if you want company. I have a sword and I haven't fought yet but I know I will need to eventually."

    @Calcifer

  14. He had to bite his tongue YET AGAIN as the woman talked down to him ever so slightly, just how a teacher would. "No, that wasn't what I meant. I'm from America so I was commenting on that, not so much your experiences. Also I'm not really the best with accents. Anyone I've worked with usually had a variety of an American accent." He shrugged and looked at the flowers some more.

    The touching and the flower crown from Mari made him a tiny bit uncomfortable. As she started to walk away he quickly took it off and adjusted himself before walking again. She does not have personal space issues, that is for sure. He rolled his eyes while her back as turned towards him. "Thank you, you can definitely tell that you are a teacher." He motions to the flower crown.

    "What did you teach? In the real world that is. Obviously here you teach low lever players how to look for materials and not- well actually find one!" He picked up a stray leaf, his screen confirming it is a material.

  15. "I wonder what it would have been like if I had a sister or a brother. Being an only child really did have its perks though. I kind of got everything and anything I wanted. Like this hell-hole of a game and the damned equipment that brought me here." He chuckled lightly and picked up another material, noticing that he was now at 20. "Damn, time really does fly. But I'm not even having much fun." That was partially true, but being able to talk out loud to himself about what his ideas were and even talk about himself was actually enjoyable to him. "I wonder what a sibling would have actually been like. I would hope they wouldn't have been rude. Also, I hope they wouldn't be like me in the business. I don't share the spotlight and I would hate to push a sibling out of the family business...."

  16. "I wonder what has changed in the real world. Dad has probably used my being locked in this game as either a charity fundraiser or a marketing tactic to get to people's hearts. Not to say he doesn't care, but he is definitely a master at figuring out how to open peoples check books and get their credit cards out. Mom is probably doing better. Considering how long it has been since I've been gone, she probably has gotten used to not having me around. Besides, she has her gardening empire she is creating, that's probably taking up much of her time. I wonder what she is growing, it was a small business when I was there, less than 1 Mil a year in revenue. God dad did not want her to start that, he didn't want to loose money. Luckily we weren't at the time, but not making a lot more than even every time though. I bet she has grown it, she is sweet and can get on people's good sides fairly easily."

  17. "Oh yeah, I don't blame you for forgetting." He felt a tiny bit offended. She offered to help him but she could not even remember what the two of them were doing. Well in her defense I haven't gotten another material in a long time. I don't blame her for spacing out. But still, she is the 'teacher' here. He mentally sighed and pushed it away, trying to focus on the conversation and the task at hand.

    "Ah high-school sweethearts. I hate how America created such a romanticized version of dating someone in high school. You are barely even an adult when you graduate high school, how would anyone know what they would want for the rest of their life. People change so fast, don't make kids think they have to stick through it." He shook his head in slight irritation with that idea.

    "Also, I think someone came through and grabbed EVERY material that this game has produced. I can't seem to find a single one."

  18. "What floor should I really focus on? I primarily focus on floor 3 just because that is going to be where my shop is. But should that be my base of operations? I do want to get a house some time in the future, so should I really set up my shop close to my house or pick a more scenic area for my house... Hmm, I'm not sure. Definitely going to get a big house though. Probably not gothic style, many people probably have already ran that to death. Maybe I could do a french grape field style? Large, open rooms, large fields. I'd like to have a basement, but a french country style could be nice. Who knows, I may like it better than my real house.... Yeah no I'm not going to. I much rather my real house, that's for sure."

  19. She was married? That is surprising. Nothing against the lady, she just looks rather... young to be married. Hmm. He thought for a moment on what to say. He was happy that is compliments were evening the mood that would randomly spike into tension. However, it was not in his personality to continue to do things like that. This conversation has strayed beyond the game. However, I don't think it is the right time to try and drag it back.

    "Oh, for some reason I assumed you had a profession already. You remind me of a..... Hmmm. An alchemist. I'm not sure why though." He knew why, just didn't think her bubbly strange behavior was a compliment to explain to her.

    The two made their way towards the water, the sun shining bright in the sky. This is actually quite pleasant. I don't have to go to a meeting after this. No business deal to worry about.... I actually miss those now that I think about it. He inwardly chuckled to himself. "If I may ask, how old are you? Either the game takes away years or you were rather young when you got married..."

  20. "What even is my type of guy? I actually have never fully looked into what my interest are in that category. Or if I would even want to have a relationship. But my type of guy.... Would be business professional, but allowing himself moments of emotional vulnerability. Tall, probably at least a little muscular. Other than that... I don't think I would really care. I would hope he is funny, I haven't met many people that can actually make me laugh. Or if they could they were gone in a few days off on business or on their way home from business. But.. that can't really happen here. You can't pop between continent after continent. You're stuck here, solidified in your one area. It makes taking the economy over a lot easier. But also just makes life so much easier."

  21. Oh No…. I think I know that voice. Adeux’s head turned to look across the street to where he saw a younger girl talking to an older shopkeeper. Hmm, maybe I don’t, I don’t know anyone with that voic- Calcifer, a name he recognized from one of his more fruitful MMO experiences. He looked the girl up and down, his head cocked in confusion. “Way… Way too young to be Calcifer.” He muttered to himself quietly. However, something still nagged at him. Maybe it is her? Well, I might as well ask. If it is her, maybe she is older than she looks. Yeah… Lets pray for that.

    “Calcifer? I’ve heard that name before. Does ‘Adeux’ ring a bell?” No Danger in giving her my real name, not like she is going to steal my identity. “If I’m right, I think we played an MMO together a while back. You were an… fire knight?”
