  1. "We'll need more reinforcements here," Riardon spoke pointing to an area of the beachfront of the Black nearest the ongoing battle. "The raiders' flank will be exposed. What doesn't help is that is also where the STY/L concert is being held.  The biggest problem is we're running low on able fighters."

    Rairdon looked over his shoulder to the makeshift infirmary. So many low level players had headed the call to arms, and the few first aid users were struggling to keep up with the increasing demand. Every few seconds, another squad of players would be escorted in with shouts and demands for treatment. Health Points were becoming a scarce resource as many of the able body first aid users were already starting to run out of energy. Cooks were hard at work in the makeshift kitchens doing their best to maintain a decent stock of Vitality foods.

    "What's the status on the sword?" Another strategist asked openly to their group.

    "One of my guildmates was running it," Riardon chimed in, his attention returning to the ongoing situation. This was his job and it was best not to wander too far off. "Bistro of Tracker's Alliance and Demian had it. I believe it has now been passed off to another group."

    "We'll send a scout team to check on their status."

    "Probably for the best. Perhaps send a field medic with them as well just in case they need a quick touch up."

    The command team all nodded in agreeance. So far this small group of players had managed to coordinate so many fresh warriors who barely knew how to swing a sword into some semblance of a defensive force. Riardon's idea of focusing less on fighting offensively against the mobs had been going well so far. As for the sword, all the team knew was that they needed to get the sword to its home, as deduced by Riardon's initial appraisal. Where that location was, he had no idea. They had sent out a scouting squad to see if they could locate the supposed return location, but so far their efforts had proved unfruitful.

    The battle raged on at The Black. Riardon had made sure the command team had a good view of all aspects, taking over the upper floor of a tavern. The raid party was holding their own for now, but time would only tell.

  2. These kids were rash as always. That didn't keep Riardon from keeping an ever vigilant eye out the entire trip to the Monkey King's lair. Their travels took them deep into the jungle and Riardon grew exceedingly more cautious the further they went in. His hand rest on the rapier at his side, ready to draw at a moment's notice. The light armor he had donned was limiting his mobility though not to the point of complete immobilization. According to Wulfrin the gear was still only Tier 1, as he didn't have time to craft a fresh set at the moment. Wulfrin had also reassured him that wouldn't be a problem, considering this quest would be a cake walk.

    As always, Wulfrin was first to act when the Monkey King made its presence known. In a flash the beast's health plummeted. Wulfrin's orders rang throughout the arena, and with a small amount of hesitation, Riardon did as requested. A series of sharp thrusts punctured, the Monkey King's underbelly causing it to stumble back and become disoriented.

  3. "Thank you for the information," Riardon bowed gently to the guard interjecting before Wulfrin could say anything else outside of standard decorum. "We shall head that way at once."

    Rairdon shot a death glare to Wulfrin. These people may be NPCs, but that doesn't mean you should talk to them with a lack of respect, a point that Wulfrin never seemed to understand, and that rubbed Riardon the wrong way some times. Riardon took it upon himself to lead the conversation with the other NPC they were pointed to.

    "Excuse me are you Sewallus?" Riardon asked an elven man currently being bandaged up by a fellow elven nurse.

    "Yep," Sewallus confirmed as he looked towards the group. "Got into a bit of a tussle with a giant monkey. Nothing I can't handle though."

    "Is there any information you can give us? We are planning to go and take him down."

    "He's big and he hits hard."

  4. "At least we have decent seats," Riardon joked as he and KnightinGale watched the battle rage on. "It would be a shame to miss such a duel. I've only seen him go all out like this against Terra Firma."

    "You went through that quest too?" KnightinGale responded tilting her head a bit. "Did you get forced to be a cheerleader as well?"

    "No my role was basically the same as this one. I was the energy battery as Wulfrin put it."

    "Can't argue with the results though. The quest sure helps get us up the levels faster."

    "Agreed. Wulfrin says there are more he plans to escort us through. They are similar in scope and will help boost our levels even more."

    Riardon watched the fight continue to unfold as Wulfrin unleashed a flurry of attacks at an almost imperceptible speed. The boss's health bar plummeted rapidly as the last of the fire continued to nip at the now red bar.

  5. Content knowing that his party was going to get him out of the sticky situation he was in, Riardon continued to observe the battle raging in front of him. Wulfrin's small dust devil conjured within the arid environment caused Riardon to instinctually shield his eyes to the best of his ability. When he opened them again, he was surprised to find a bear trap clasped to the boss's left leg. It was screaming in agony as Solaris pulled off from its attack. Wulfrin's blade burned with a fire comprable to the fires around them. Could that art have originated from this floor? It was possible, but until he could research it, or better yet ask Wulfrin directly, there was no way to know for certain. Not that Riardon intended to inquire about it anyway. He was more focused on supporting his allies in combat rather than dishing out damage himself. Riardon had seen Wulfrin used the art against Terra Firma not long ago, so at least the swordsman's attack pattern was predictable. The bandit boss on the other hand was a different story.

  6. Riardon let out a sigh of relief when he saw Wulfrin stroll into the plaza. He had mustered all of his bravado and courage to maintain at least some measure of composure. Though he still remained bound, Riardon was at least able to contribute as his skill required no input from him. He watched the battle unfolding before him, blade clash after blade clash sent burst of air out in all directions. Riardon could feel every impact and each one reminded him how out classed he was in this place. Wulfrin's initial clash was ended with an abrupt blow to the Bandit Boss's center of mass sending him stammering back a few paces. Solaris screamed down from above and lashed out at the command of his master. Riardon watched Wulfrin's nod to a nearby alley, following his gaze, Riardon spotted KnightinGale primed to charge in.

    "Sound plan," Riardon whispered to himself. "Distract the boss while she gets me loose. You're one tricky swordsman Wulfrin."

  7. "'Ello littel mousie," A gravely voice echoed from behind Riardon, sending a shiver down his spine. "So it's been you lot snoopin' 'round my camp. Best I make an example of you."

    "Boss sigh-!" Riardon tried to call out to his party. A heavy fist found its way burried into his stomach knocking what little air was still within his virtual form.

    When he came to, Riardon was tied to a post in the central plaza of the camp. His head was foggy, but his health hadn't dropped . He considered that a blessing. The Bandit Boss was standing over him holding a now emptied bucket. Only now did Riardon realize he was soaked.

    "Now then littel mouse," The boss chuckled as he drug a knife across Riardon's chin. "Where's tha rest o' your littel party?"

    "I'm sure you'll find out soon enough," Riardon smirked. A burst of energy erupted from him, a literal signal flare for his party to follow.

  8. "KnightinGale has broken the barrier and engaged the fourth group," Riardon commented to himself as he continued to move just out of range of the bandits' agro. "Final group spotted near the center. Looks like they are trying to run!"

    Riardon's vision narrowed as he focused his attention towards the center of the camp. The bandits were scrambling to gather whatever they could recover from his party's rampage. One of them was pounding heavily on the door of a shack at the center. His best guess was that woul be where the boss would emerge. Having failed to get the attention of the boss, the bandits began to rush towards the front entrance to the camp. He had to do something to slow them down.

    "Solaris," Riardon ordered. "Strike those bits of scaffolding. We need to redirect their travel route towards our companions."

    Solaris soared into action, staying only a few yards ahead of the bandits bringing scaffolding down and blocking off their escape route, slowly directing them into KnightinGale's path.

  9. "That makes eight," Riardon said to himself as Wulfrin and KnightinGale moved to attack the third group of bandits. "That leaves eight more to locate before the boss appears. Assuming the quest information is correct."

    Riardon leapt from perch to perch. He was still getting used to being far more spry in his virtual form. It was jarring how well he could move within Aincrad. In the real world he hadn't been able to move like this ever, in fact he could hardly imagine being able to. At least the physical toll of age was waved. The numbers within the camp were thinning. It took Riardon a short bit of time before he pinned down a group of bandits preparing a barricade for his party members. A burst of energy surged forth rejuvenating their lost energy.

    "East side!" Riardon called out. "They're setting up a barricade! Stay sharp and give 'em hell!"

  10. "Another group at your three," Riardon said as he ran overwatch from atop the scaffolding that made up the outer wall of the camp.

    On Riardon's shoulder was a regal bird with plumage that almost resembled fire. Wulfrin's familiar Solaris was with him acting as a second set of eyes. KnightinGale nodded bellow him as she began to move toward the group he had pointed out. Riardon's job was simple, keep tabs on enemy movements and watch out for the Boss's appearance. That was mainly due to him not being capable of much else. His analytical mind was allowing him to easily track each individual in the camp. Every few seconds, a burst of energy would burst from him and flow into his allies. That was his other duty, keep them topped off on energy so the other two could focus entirely on fighting at max strength. Based on how quickly the first group had fallen, he would have his work cut out for him.

  11. "Seems simple enough," Riardon stroked his chin as he studied the map. Without thinking, he began to munch down on the provided meats and cheeses. "If my information serves, the camp isn't too terribly far from here, but we still shouldn't laze around too long. If they catch wind of our little raid we might be put into a tough spot."

    It wasn't like Wulfrin to leave out key details, so Riardon was fairly sure all necessary notes had already been made. He glanced to his left to analyze the unknow companion with them. She seemed to be walking two worlds, one of fantasy and one of reality. Well as much reality as you can get in a death game. Her emerald eyes had a ferocity about them that made Riardon slightly uneasy.

    "Suppose I'll get us started then," Riardon spoke up breaking a long silence. "Onwards to the camp."

  12. Terra Firma's health bar was dropping swiftly with each strike from Wulfrin. Riardon's eyes focused on Terra Firma's other front leg where a second bear trap had dug into its flesh. An impressed smirk crept across Riardon's face. Apparently this boss wasn't as smart as it was fast. After letting loose a roar that shook the small basin, Terra Frima slamed its trapped foot down into the sand causing the trap to fall loose. Now freed from its bindings Terra Firma leapt into the air threatening to drag Wulfrin beneath the shifting sands. Once more Wulfrin narrowly dodged the beast's feeble attempt at a last stand by carefully moving towards its left flank and preparing for an all out attack.

    "This battle is already over Terra Firma," Riardon commented as he felt another burst of energy leave his body. "Now I understand why Wulfrin calls it his Sharkbait Training Program."

  13. The raging inferno in front of Riardon did not aid his situation within the scorching hot desert. What was Wulfrin thinking during all of this? Terra Firma didn't seem to be phased in the slightest, if anything the flames only made it angrier. The sand shark's heavy jaws dug into its own flesh as it shattered the solid iron trap its front leg was trapped in before turning its sights on Wulfrin. It lumbered forward, gaining speed with each bound. Once it was a few feet from Wulfrin, it dove beneath the sands only to emerge behind Wulfrin, jaws eager to claim their lunch. Wulfrin appeared unphased as he simply pivoted on his back foot and dodged out of the way and around his target, expertly preparing for a retaliatory strike.

    "Nice dodge," Riardon commented as a second burst of energy restoring light pulsed from him. "Kid's got reflexes to compliment his strikes."

  14. Wulfrin's speed was even faster than the last time Riardon had witnessed the young man in combat. Several heavy hits left the massive sand shark immobilized. Riardon stood arms cross observing the swordsman move. The kid had some moves and Riardon struggled to keep up visually. Was this the same level expected from the frontlines? He wasn't sure, but if it was he knew for a fact that he couldn't likely move in the same way. As Terra Firma shifted its weight back onto its legs, Riardon crept slightly closer to the edge. A burst of greenish blue energy burst out from his body as Riardon watched Wulfrin's energy skyrocket back to full.

    "Looks like your plan is working!" Riardon called out. "Bring him down!"

    Riardon continued to watch the ongoing match, his eyes fixated on Wulfrin. At the very least if he witnessed the swordsman falter, Riardon could get some warning to run.

  15. "I did," Riardon nodded as Wulfrin continued to go through the plan. "Though I can't say I'm too keen on abusing a system like this."

    Riardon slowly paced around the table, taking mental notes of Wulfrin's tactics. From what he could tell, his goal was simply to observe. The package that Wulfrin had suggested consisted of one skill taken nine times over, allowing him to act as some sort of energy battery for the DPS player. It wasn't too far off of the playstyle Riardon was expecting to play, although it did kind of hurt to not be able to do more. Regardless, Riardon grabbed a piece of the provided spread of meats and cheeses, and once Wulfrin had finished his disertation, Riardon started towards the door.

    "Suppose I'll go get our clearance sorted," Riardon said as he adjusted his collar. "As I recall you aren't exactly on the best of terms with the quest giver."

    Riardon made his way to the plaza where it didn't take long to locate Abduhlah and file the appropriate paperwork.

  16. "Seems my progress will rely on that fact," Riardon sighed as he continued to search for the elusive materials. "I seem to be struggling to locate even one."

    It was a slightly depressing reality, but it was the hand he was being dealt. The reassurance that his success didn't really matter much took a large portion of the weight from his shoulders, though it still stung to not be able to complete a promised task. When he told someone he would do a job, he tended to do everything in his power to complete the task even if it meant inconveniencing himself a bit. That way of thinking didn't tend to work out well in virtual worlds such as this one. Sometimes you could stay in a quest until you managed to complete the objective, but Aincrad had proven to have a few instances of going against that norm already. In his last gathering quest, the items were practically forced upon him, and here the progress was based on the attempt as opposed to the actual items themselves.

    "At least it's a nice day out," Riardon chuckled. "Makes me wat to pitch a tent and just enjoy the landscape."

    He knew that the weather rarely changed from a floors default, but it didn't matter. The comment was mainly for friendly conversation.

  17. Riardon recognized the familiar foraging ground of Wulfrin. He had been brought here to complete his Appraiser's quest. Guess he wasn't lying about frequenting this place. He thought to himself as he moved to explore the familiar clearing. At least he could confirm first hand that the place was safe, though Wulfrin did have to pull off to take care of a few straggling mobs that had sought to interrupt their little expidition.

    "I can confirm this place is safe," Riardon said as he began to pick a few random herbs and leaves around the immediate area. "Hopefully we'll have better luck than I did when I came through here last. It took me a while to gather everything I needed for a different quest."

    Unfortunately that statement was turning out to be some false hope. As it turns out picking random grass and leaves wasn't what the best strategy. Perhaps he should take a different approach though Riardon didn't know what other approach to make. Afterall, according to Zackariah, this approach should be more than valid.

  18. "Likewise," Riardon said as Bastion had introduced themselves and began going over their findings. "Pleasure to make your acquaintance." 

    The mission briefing was a bit short for his liking, but Riardon was beginning to understand the course of action before him. The way Wulfrin spoke, he assumed that Wulfrin had done this so many times he likely had the scripts of the NPCs memorized and was just funneling the party toward the NPCs as a requirement.

    "Well then," Riardon chimed in as Wulfrin finished his last sentence. "I say it's time we pay Zackariah a visit. I'll lead since our escort is unable to."

    With that Riardon stood and made his way across the street to Zackariah's little alchemist shop. Beautiful aromas filled the air as various plants and alchemical ingredients mingled in the rather tightly packed and disorganized storefront. The bell overhead must have given them away as the man, even older than Riardon himself, with a long snow white beard looked up and smiled in their direction.

    "Oh hello," The obviously wizard gentleman spoke as he put down a cup of a sweet smelling purple liquid. "Are you here to order something? I'm afraid I'm swamped with orders at present and I'm running low on supplies." Light came into the older man's eyes as if someone had just flipped on a light switch in the man's noggin. "Tell you what. Why don't you gather me some materials: plants, herbs, really anything you can find outside the city walls. I promise I'll fill your order as soon as possible. I'll even compensate you in return."

    "I-I er," Riardon stammered as Zackariah seemed to give him no room to speak his case. "Sure. I can go grab those for you. Shouldn't be a problem at all. Though we don't have an order to fill per say we were wondering if-"

    "Wonderful!" The eccentric alchemist exclaimed. "Make sure you grab yourself a cup of fondue before you leave. I made it fresh just a few moments ago. I shall await your return."

    Riardon turned to the cauldron that Zackariah pointed out. Its contents didn't seem to be any fondue he was familiar with, but with some hesitation ladled himself a cup and sipped down its contents. It tasted just as odd as it looked, but sure enough just as Wulfrin had said, another buff appeared next to his name. With a shallow bow Riardon excused himself from the store front.

  19. "Pleasure to meet you," The older gentleman gave a slight bow from his chair. "Also I can vouch for Wulfrin's ability to keep us safe. He's escorted me on a similar quest before, so we should have nothing to worry about."

    Riardon took his tea pot and poured two more cups for the new additions to the gathering and offered one to each. The group around him was definitely rag tag, but at the very least they seemed like they were plenty capable. He dismissed the pot to his endless inventory space where it would sit and remain piping hot for the next time he had need. His attention fixated on the two unfamiliar players to him. Firefly seemed nice enough but the unknown player seemed a complete mystery. The fact he couldn't see the eyes didn't help either.

    "What about you lad?" Riardon asked with his gentle smile as he finished off his tea. "What's your preferred name? Hard to work together if we don't know your name."

    Then his attention turned to Wulfrin.

    "As for you, Wulfrin. I hope you'll be providing assistance and not just fishing on the sidelines."

  20. "Not sure how busy you think I am," Riardon responded as his associate left his shop with just as much haste as he'd shown coming in. "But sure. I'll be there in a few minutes."

    Despite his response falling on long departed ears, Riardon finished the cup of tea he had procured from another kindly gentleman not to far from his place of business. He had nothing of his own equipment wise as of yet, so there wasn't a whole lot to get ready. Had the lad been just a smidge less in a hurry, He probably could have just traveled with him. With a sigh Riardon made his way to the front porch and locked up his shop before making his way to the teleport plaza and returning to the familiar streets of the Town of Beginnings.

    It wasn't hard to track down Wulfrin once he stepped off the teleporter. Even without the flashy gear the swordsman usually donned, the flaming eagle that perched nearby acted like a beacon. Wulfrin had just stepped away from another player and sat at a cafe table, appearing a beautifully crafted spread akin to what he would expect to see at a large family gathering.

    "Anyone ever tell you to relax a bit?" Riardon snickered playfully as he took a seat. "Not everything needs to be done in record speed. Now tell me what's this quest you're planning on taking us on."

    As Riardon waited for the response, he began to indulge in the spread before him. As he did he noticed that a couple icons appeared next to his health bar signifying a stat boost. Riardon pulled out a small pot and a few cups and began to poor a lovely chamomile tea.

    "Unfortunately it's nothing stat effecting like your spread," Riardon apologized as he handed a cup to Wulfrin. "But at least it's a beverage to accompany this wonderful spread of yours."
