After a short rest following his trip to the Waterfall of the Sage, Brax emerged from an inn situated in the settlement of Amazon on Floor Six.  Stretching his arms over his head to work out a few kinks from his sleeping arrangements, he finally got a good look at the location in all of it's glory.  The town was modest looking for such an important fixture on the sixth floor, houses and buildings formed of casual looking tents and wooden cottages of tribal design.  The various female NPCs, who if the game info was to be believed were the only inhabitants to occupy the area save for those players that chose to make their homes here, milled about in busy fashion, garbed in both tribal attire like animal skins and cloth dresses similar to prehistoric times, or gaudy armor decorated with various animal patrons that Brax would have to assume called the forest beyond home.  A few shops sold various jungle related goods, leather armors and obsidian blades both aesthetically pleasing and formidable in battle.  Through the air resonated the sounds of the jungle, bird and animal calls that beckoned travelers to venture forth into the wilds, in search of traps and treasures galore.  Such was what he had planned for today, as Brax was in need of a chance to test his newly acquired Sword Arts, and the Amazonian Jungle was just the place to do it.

Brax strode purposefully out of the town and into the jungle beyond, in search of any monsters to practice his new abilities upon.  He also kept an eye out for suitable crafting supplies for trading purposes.  As he began to ascend up through the higher floors, Brax would need to upgrade his gear with more powerful enhancements.  His current Bangle of Luck was...quite decent, as far as accuracy pieces were concerned, but...a symbol kept reappearing in his dreams, one that he could not shake free from.  He needed to have that symbol forged, and to do so would require more supplies.  Until then, he would have to rely on his Carrot Tabs to boost his accuracy, which he did right now, popping one quickly and feeling the effects course through his body.

The jungles held a smattering of worthy prey, and just as he finished his snack one came upon him swiftly.  From the trees above came a low growl, and before his eyes approached a mob of panthers, dark sleek coats shimmering in the morning sun as it filtered through the leafy canopy above.  They encircled his position, trying to discern any weaknesses in his armored defense, but they would find none to be had.  A wan smile crossed his face, and the stalwart stoic thought to himself, 'So, they are to be the first.  Very well.'  His axe at the ready, Brax swept out his axe to catch the closest panther by surprise, slicing it cleanly across it's flank.  As he did so, he felt the angle begin to change, and before he knew it the Cardinal System took hold of his body as the pack attacked.  Before they could strike him, Brax spun with a second sweep, the power of the blow cutting clean through two of the beasts and dispersing their pixels.  As the remaining creatures looked upon him with confusion, Brax performed a final overhead slam, his glowing axe's head transferring the accumulated power into the ground and causing the earth to explode outwards, peppering the monsters with both the energy of the swing and the falling debris.  Their bodies fritzed for a moment, then burst apart in psychedelic fashion.

"So," said Brax, wiping off his Battle-Axe after the battle, "that is the power...of a grandmaster of a weapon.  How...fascinating."  It was an impressive display, the power his attacks possessed.  Opening up his status window for a moment, Brax looked at what his weapon had to offer.  He saw one attack of each type: a single target, an AOE and a stun, each quite powerful in their own right.  For the moment, he did not wish to test the stun nor the single target moves though.  His hunting would require more...widespread damage.

Axe against his shoulder, Brax trekked through the verdant greenery of the jungle region.  Twisting trees intertwined with each other, vines draped like green shawls over aging branches.  Colorful birds, not suitable for hunting, flitted through the canopy above, calling to each other as they went from tree to tree.  The colors they presented were...breathtakingly beautiful, or rather they would have been for any other person save Brax, for his emotions were...untouchable.  He only saw...a prey unsuitable for slaughter.

He carefully watched his step as he made his way deeper into the living jungle, for with so many twisting and turning paths to take, every step could be one's last.  The Amazon held many mysteries, but Brax would eventually find them all.  His calculating brain would not allow such conundrums to exist, at least as long as he had a moment to observe and discover them.  It might have been an aspect of his upward momentum through the floors, but Brax was beginning to develop...an urge to explore and discover more about this world.

His explorations would have to wait, however, as he stepped under a thick set of trees.  Brax heard a loud hissing sound emanating from above, and managed to leap out of the way as a large Amazonian Serpent struck from above the treeline.  It hissed displeasure at the heavily armored man, and was soon joined by various members of it's...family?  Pack?  Brax shook his head: it mattered not what their group was called, only that the mob was certain to taste the power...of his power.  Setting his axe high and to the right, his weapon began to glow with the new-found power of his Explode Catapult, and as he advanced on the hanging snakes Brax unleashed it's power.  The attack missed the snakes as they were quite agile, but Brax had not been aiming for them; no, he was targeting the trees surrounding the group instead.  His two sweeping strikes dug a deep furrow into the gnarled bark, and his final overhead slam caused the foliage to explode, shattering both the tree and those who took cover in it, the force of the blow vibrating throughout the trunk to damage everything nearby.  The durability of the object was no match for his mighty ability, and the mob's pixels joined the tree's as they rose into the sky.

Brax was very...he supposed the sensation could be described as 'impressed'...by his newfound power.  The AOE, this 'Explode Catapult', was a force to be reckoned with.  He contemplated what it could truly do, once he had reached a higher level of EXP, and he had access to higher leveled gear.  Not that he had an ego, mind you, just that he would be...a very useful individual, once he acquired such things.

And what of his other abilities?  Would they be just as impressive as the one he was currently training?  Brax wondered what he would chose to test them on, as most of the field boss quests that he could accomplish singularly had been done.  Thus, he would require more hunting and training in order to amass the proper level of strength necessary to solo the higher field bosses, like the Lord of the Seas, which he had heard was a dragon of some sort, or some kind of lost angel on the highest floor currently unlocked.  These bosses would require even more than what he currently had.

Which, as Brax finished his current thought line, meant that his training was paramount.  Such was what he had learned from his...weapon quest.  That odd...'vision'...he had experienced on this very floor.  He put the idea far from his mind, though, for as the voice had told him, and he paraphrased, 'It would not be wise...to pull at that thread.'  And so he wouldn't; he would instead focus on training himself up, join the frontlines, and perhaps they would know something of the dreams that he had, of Knights and weapons, of animals and symbols, of sanity...and insanity.

Advancing to the frontlines would require more than just training, however, it would also require understanding what he had to give in battle, what he had to offer.  Interestingly enough, THAT would require more training.  Training such as slaying the monsters that arrayed themselves against Brax currently: a group of annoying amphibians blocked his path.  Larger than the normal fare of frogs, these Gargantuan Tree Frogs were of a lesser stock than the poisonous ones that lived deeper in the jungle, but still quite deadly.  Readying his axe for combat, Brax charged the mob and struck his axe low to the right, activating his Explode Catapult yet again.  Carving through their ranks like a hot knife through butter, his final pound upon the ground sent the animals flying into the air, where the shock of the attack vibrated their bodies before forcing them to violently explode into their base pixels.

The Tree Frogs were little to worry about, as were many of the beasts that called the humid jungle their home.  Brax was empowered by a veritable wall for a suit of armor, and with his Bangle of Luck that he had come to rely on, almost more so than the Elude Epitaph that had powered his feet not long ago, and his well crafted weapon to enact his Grandmaster Sword Arts, Brax was...an impressive and intimidating foe to behold, even more to engage in battle.

Though, he logically understood that he still had far to go: the frontliners, and others who were roaming the unlocked floors that had chosen to leave the assault teams for a while, were almost double his power and health, capable of eliminating foes that Brax could barely sneeze at with all his power behind it.  It was a strange turn for the egoless man, to want to gain strength simply for the sake of gaining strength, but his mental revelations that had led to his mastery of the Battle-Axe were clear: in order to keep the more unwelcome emotions he might feel at bay, Brax would need to focus on other things, and the most prevalent one was...training, and assault duties.

The humidity of the rain forest was...more than a little uncomfortable for the heavily armored man.  Though he understood in a logical sense that his armor and the protection it afforded were...necessary, he could not help but wish...that he was lesser equipped with a lighter piece of gear.  Rivulets of sweat beaded across his neck, streaming down his toned frame to the ground, crisscrossing his body with their insistent warnings of dehydration.  As his Survival skill had not yet activated, his body was unable to...completely regulate such environmental issues.

The scent of his sweating frame did not go unnoticed by the myriad of hunters probing about the jungle floor.  Brax had attracted the finely tuned senses of a pack of Ocelots, small feline beasts that were well known for their more...rambunctious nature, especially towards fresh meat.  And Brax, it seemed, was the catch of the day.  Stalking him as he trekked across the leafy floor, the medium sized cats waited for the perfect time to tear into his succulent hindquarters.  As Brax reached an open clearing which overlooked a large river snaking it's way through the area, the animals pounced upon him, each one trying to slash his armor apart, but to no avail: his armor held firm.  Reacting quickly, Brax set his axe in position to strike back, hitting the mob with another round of his Explode Catapult, the force of his final slam on the ground raining pieces of nearby trees that were caught in the blast down atop the ocelots, killing them with extreme prejudice.

The river itself was a wonder to behold, as Brax took a moment to rest and air himself out.  His armor was beginning to smell from his exertions, and so he de-equipped it and thrust his hands into the swiftly moving waters to splash his face with the refreshing liquid.  Patting some across his sweaty frame, he took in the sights and smells that pervaded the jungle, taking note of several landmarks for future explorative purposes.  For now, all he was doing was scouting out the area, but later, when he was in need of more training grounds to cover, he would return and use the information he found.

Along the water's edge, Brax could see many indigenous living creatures taking advantage of the aquatic source.  Toucans, macaws, and parrots flitted about in the sky, calling to each other in musical harmony.  Lesser gibbons and chimpanzees, too small to be considered worthy hunting partners on this floors, drank from the river itself, as well as...taking baths in the quickly moving water, careful not to get swept away by the currents.  Fish leapt up, breaking the clear waterline to try and kiss the sun above, eager to feel the warmth on their silvery bodies.

Unfortunately for everyone there, danger lurked beneath the lapping waves.  Eight pairs of yellow eyes stared up from beneath the water, looking for a feast to partake of.  No normal group of monkeys of the trees or flock of birds would satisfy their hunger, though.  They needed something more...substantial, something more...meaty.  Something...like an unsuspecting adventurer, kneeling in the river to wash away the grime of the day's journey.

The calm and peaceful flow of the river was broken as the group of four crocodiles rose from the depths, and their snapping jaws and yellow eyes shone with inner light as they dived at Brax in his semi-unprepared state.  Looking up, he had little time to equip his armor plating before their powerful jaws clamped down on various parts of his body, chewing noisily and drawing red pixels from his frame.  Thankfully he had managed to get his defenses up, or the damage would have been quite severe, but as it was, Brax was mostly taken off guard and not terribly hurt.  Pushing away their snapping teeth, Brax got enough distance between himself and the mob so as to activate his Explode Catapult once more, slicing hard within their midst and driving home his powerful ground pounding, whose shockwave shattered the crocs into a crystalline storm that blanketed the area.

The battle won, Brax deepened his breath to recover from the unexpected assault.  'A note to remember,' he mused to himself quietly, 'the aquatic life that lay under the water...should not be underestimated.  Not only the trees hide dangerous monsters, but everywhere do they lurk...I wonder why I constructed that sentence that way.  Strange...'  Shaking his head at the odd grammar he had used, Brax got up and kept his armor and weapon close as he continued his trip in the jungle.
