(F1-SP) The Art of Hunting [Complete]

Recommended Posts

Lush green forests filled with wildlife and vegetation, the preferable searching area for Himeko, who had experienced the hardships of collecting materials. She was ready, there was no fear of being attacked by monsters, they do not spawn in this area. Player killers are not a problem either, they don't often come to this area of the first floor so Himeko was fine. The only thing that was worthy of trouble was the forest itself; many explorers get lost there and don't come out, but she doesn't really care, she has a map. And so the quest for materials began in the labyrinth of trees.

Himeko stepped in a puddle of mud, her shoes now brown like the earth beneath her. It was all for the sake of finding materials, and if it was for that then she wouldn't mind almost anything. The sound of crickets radiated in the forest and she began to hear them. 'It better not be night.' Getting up from the puddle of mud wasn't exactly easy, it was around two feet deep and if it wasn't for her shoes, her entire body might just be covered in mud (Including the hair! And that's hard to wash out!) She figured that she should search for a material while getting out of the puddle, but found nothing.

After several long minutes she successfully managed to get out of the mud puddle. Her shoes looked browner than chocolate filled brownies and they were nearly unwearable. "Gotta' toss these out..." She unequipped them and started to walk around barefoot doing what she just did before, look for materials. It's safe to say that her feet can't lose durability, but very ludicrous to tell her that they can't get dirty (As they will get extremely dirty).

The gathering was going fine until Himeko stepped on a sharp rock, "Owww!" She screamed (Because it really hurt!) and fell on her buttocks. A few tears came out of her eyes, and she got back up again to search for materials. 'It's time to get serious, you don't have time for little rocks.' She tried to convince herself, then she laughed. That wasn't the normal relaxed Himeko, that sounded more like her bossy foster parents. Thinking about that allowed her to forget about the pain and search for materials.

"A low angle?" She stared at the sight of a fallen tree from obviously, a low angle. The moss on the tree made a thick protective layer of green and somewhat complimented the purple vines that grew from it. This one was worthy to remember, so she took a picture in her head to look back on it. Himeko noticed she was getting off task and remembered she had to get materials. She came back empty handed but the sight of the tree was enough to invigorate her.

Birds sang their morning sang as Himeko passed by, she took note of the clear passageways into the forest and kept it on her map. That map data sure comes in handy when you're in a death game, without it you'd probably get lost and die even without fighting a single monster. The spot she chose for gathering materials was poor due to the low visibility of the materials.

Materials were not very abundant in this area, she could tell just by counting how many she found (2). Although the odds are low, that does not warrant giving up. Just three more materials until she can afford another perfect item, and that only means a couple more minutes of suffering. It was worth it, but lengthy at the same time.

Failure was not an option, Himeko had to find some materials for the equipment she was going to make and maybe have some fun with. It would feel nice if she had an entire set of perfect items, but deep down she knew she would not really keep most of them, especially that rapier she requested, which was very uncalled for. A suitable trade would be necessary to get rid of the unwanted weapon, perhaps maybe a katana or some clothing.

Some people dream of blue skies and starry nights, but Himeko is not like them. Her dreams are filled with razorblades, metalworks, and complicated machinery that most people wouldn't be able to comprehend how they work. She remembered that she had a Swiss army knife, and had a feeling of emptiness without it. That tool, although just a material object, represented her strong friendship with somebody she holds dear to her.

She only spent an hour in the forest, but for some reason it felt like years. Perhaps it was the crickets or the birds, but it was most likely all the memories she's retained in the past couple of minutes. Himeko went back to searching for materials, but her loot yielded nothing but worthless mud. "What's happening to my luck?" She wondered. It just wasn't on edge today.

"Maybe I should stop looking... No, I'll find some eventually." She vigorously looked around for materials but could see nothing in the surprisingly dark and muddy forest. With all the added noise it makes it a bit harder to gather. This would explain why her luck wasn't at peak performance today. 'No, don't give up. You can still find at least three in this dank place.' She thought.

After a bad luck Streak, Himeko did the only thing sensible; go on a casual walk down the clear pathway in the forest. It's not the brightest idea, but maybe it'll ease up the tension and frustration she built from not finding any materials. Himeko began to walk silently taking note of the possibility that players might be nearby. 'Wonder when I'll actually find something useful.' These were her thoughts unt she tripped and fell over something; a material! "Yes! The unlucky streak is over!" The pink haired one was filled with joy after finding her third material in the forest, it only made her want to stay longer and we all know that's not exactly a good thing.

As soon she saw a ball of mud she had a bad feeling. 'Oh no, the unlucky streak is back.' And she was right. Right when she went out searching for materials no spoils appeared at all. "Maybe its a curse!" She concluded thatthat it must be, but then threw the idea away because it's ridiculous. Maybe she'll have better luck next time and find something worthy of being in her inventory.

"And then a certain man was sick... What was the verse again? I forgot..." For an odd reason she remembered a bible verse that an acquantince of her uses as a pick up line. That idiot tried to flirt with her using a bible verse, and his skills of saying words romantically are non existent.  Himeko flirting is a different story, her skills are worse and when she tries... Well, let's just say her lines end up awfully flat. These thoughts really help her find materials, she just found one just by thinking of flirting!

The day shifted phases quickly, a second ago Himeko was searching for materials in the day, and now she searches in the cover of darkness. It's a minor setback (Okay major!) and will probably bring back the unwanted evil thing called the 'Unlucky Streak.' Her prediction was correct sadly, curse her intuition!

Maneuvering in the dark was nearly impossible without stepping in some mud. "I'll be coming home in a box..." The mud covered her feet and legs making her look poor (She was!). She should be heading back to town soon when there is enough light available for her to see. In case that doesn't happen, she's already found a nice little cave to hide in for the night. Himeko deicdes to stay in the cave and wait it out, looking for a material while she's at it (She fails!)

"It's dark in here!" She barely managed to squeeze herself in, but as soon as she did she was introduced to a cool (Literally) hideout. 'I can live with this.' She thought. It wasn't that bad, she could see the outside but the outside couldn't see her. "Guess I'll look for materials in here." The cave is dark, but it still has a plethora of suitable materials. Himeko began searching but mustered up nothing of use.

Smooth floor, perfect for Himeko's back. 'I could lie down and search for materials, that's the perfect lazy way to do things!' She became excited about being able to just lay flat on the cool floor and find items, she wouldn't need to worry about muddy feet or anything, just a cold body. Himeko moved her arms around seeing if she touched any materials, and the result... Completely underwhelming with a profit of zero.

"You've got to be kidding me..." For the last hour she's found nothing in this cursed forest. She couldn't wait for the hell to be over so she extended her arms and tried to find a material. The material drought is truely sad, no materials, no equipment. It was all just a lost cause and she decided to head back to town after one more unsuccessful material gathering.

Himeko got up from her position, got out of the cave, and went straight to town. "It's useless! It's not worth it!" At the end of the day, she became stressed (Very!) with dirty feet and legs. 'I guess I really am going home in a box.' It was a scary ordeal of boredom, and she decided to never look for materials again without good luck charms. Perhaps she'll buy one at The White Stag or some other fancy store.

It's basically just a fail (Nothing will change it)
