[PP:F1] We All Start at the Same Place: At the Bottom (Mayuri)

Sol stared down into the mug between her delicate digits. “How long have I been here now?” She mumbled to herself as she picked the glass up and took another drink. Time had become a blur to the young woman as she’d found herself sitting in the same place, at the same pub, drinking the same drink day after day, week after week, month after month till she no longer cared when the sun rose or set. Soledad found herself caring less and less about who she was or what her purpose for coming there had been.

“Go have an adventure they said… It’ll be fun they said…” she growled and slammed the blue ceramic stein upon the wooden tabletop and pushed it away.

Coming to Aincrad was hardly fun, not after they’d all been locked away in a world they could only escape by finishing the damn game.  Too bad Lor knew she’d die long before then. It was why she’d hidden herself away in the Town on Beginnings living her own version of Bill Murray’s Groundhog’s Day. But something inside the young woman snapped. She’d had enough. Enough apathy, enough fear, enough waiting. As much as she had always wanted to be rescued from her shitty life, she knew she’d never meet a prince to make it happen. Granted, those who were working to save them all were leagues ahead of her; Sol would never forgive herself for continuing to sit idly by and do nothing to save herself. And that’s when she remembered: She could save herself; after all, she too had a sword. Sadly, Lorelei knew nothing about the weapons system in game and even less about actually wielding a weapon in any world. Still, that wasn’t going to stop her; not today. Today she was going to figure out how to use it.

Soledad rose from her seat and began to walk off toward the border of town. She’d been there a great many times, but she only stood at the gates looking out over the grassy fields and never left the safety of town. Today she was going to cross the barrier and jump into the world. As she left the gates she opened up her menu and removed the weapon she’d chosen at the beginning of the game. It was called a Falchion. She had no idea why she’d chosen it really, other than it just looked super cool. The long, curved blade was lighter than she imagined, and Sol kept a firm grip on the hilt pumping heself up for what was to come next. Sure, there was a possibility she could die on this day, but death seemed like a far better thing than sitting around doing nothing like she had all this time.

With Life away training in places she couldn’t go, Mai found herself with a lot of free time. This wouldn’t have been so horrible for the girl if it weren’t for the fact that she missed Eric deeply. With her love away and nothing to do, Mai often found herself on the first floor looking for beginners to help as she wasn’t good for much else. Still, she was determined to grow and become useful to Life and she could only do that by training up.

As she made her way to the Town of Beginnings in search of someone to assist, she spotted a woman with dark short hair in a blue dress approaching.  The look on her face was one that Mai knew quite well: determination. She had the look of someone who’d resolved to do something about her predicament. This was the look that many Mai had helped had worn the moment she’d met them. As their paths crossed and the woman continued on, Mayuri turned about on her heel and began to give chase.

“Excuse me!!!!” She called out after the raven haired lady. “Where are you going?” She asked curiously wondering where the lady was off to in such a hurry.

Sol was lost in thought, determined to do he thing she came out the the field determined to do what she set out here to do when her train of thought was broken by a small voice. “HUH?” The woman said as she turned on her heel. There before her was an adorable pixie in a short pink number, chasing after her. “Were you talking to me?”She asked before realizing that they were indeed the only two around.  Sheepishly the woman smiled and shook her head. “Of course you were talking to me.” She rolled her eyes as she shook her head at her own foolishness. “I was about to go try out this thing and kill something. Why do you ask, Pinky?” The girl peeked Sol’s curiosity. Her clothing said “Barbie”, but the lovely weapon that hung at the girl’s side said “badass” and Lore was interested to see which of these two statements held true.

Mai stopped several feet from the woman as she whipped about.  “Were you talking to me?” the woman asked. Mai was about to answer but the woman realized that they were alone on the field, and instead she smiled brightly and nodded in agreement as the woman in blue addressed her. It seemed that Mai was correct in assuming that the woman was on her way to hunt. By the look of her gear however, she couldn’t have been too high of a level. As Shay assessed the situation, the woman spoke asking why Mai wanted to know and called her a silly name.

“Pinky?” Shay repeated. The pretty raven haired girl looked down at her Sakura kimono and nodded as she giggled; her garb was a rather lovely shade of pink. “My name’s Mai…and if you don’t mind… I’d like to help you. The field isn’t very forgiving and I’m a healer. I don’t charge anything or want for anything other than to help you. So…can I? Help you I mean?”

Shay was intent on helping as many people as she could and if she could keep anyone from dying, she was going to do just that.
