[PP-F2] Acquiring weapon <<Breaking the Unbreakable>> (Calrex) <Complete>

Recommended Posts

"Huh.... It's 8:00 AM already?" Husky spoke groggily, rising from the inn bes. Letting out a long sigh, he got out of the room with his basic equipment. However, what seemed peculiar about him, is that he doesn't have a weapon. Most new starter kits provide someone with a starter weapons, Husky doesn't carry a weapon. He haven't spend any points on any skill at all for some apparent reason. Sitting down on one of the tables in the tavern below, Husky ordered a morning coffee, and took a sip. Sitting in the Inn, Husky overheard the two in a table behind him.

"Yo, you taken the rock punching quest yet?" One voice spoke out. Replied by another. "Yeah... The skill is pointless though. Why would you need to punch someone when you have swords and spears?"

Husky snapped. That's it! He put down the coffee cup and speed outside, without any weapon. Running out of the tavern, Husky got out of Nimbus and attempted to find the location for the quest the two stranger has been talking about.

"So...just relaxing in a tavern again...and on the second floor on top of that. I must have really gotten a lot more free time for some reason or another."

Calrex gave a small sigh as he took another swig of the gin and ginger ale he was nursing while sitting at a small seat in the corner of the tavern. Since he was sitting there for a while, it was causing him to partially zone in and out. Because of this it seemed the conversations around him appeared more present and louder. Most of them were the usual casual conversation, but one seemed to stand out for some reason. It was two individuals, who seemed to be talking about the <<Breaking the Unbreakable>> quest. One seemed to hold some reservation about taking it, saying that there was no use.

"Well, it really depends on what weapon you're using. Some weapons actually gain the benefit of more powerful Sword Arts if you decide to rank if up a little. Also I've seen some people decide to focus on using only their fists. It's a smart strategy, since the skill doesn't take up one of the skill slo..."

Hearing someone slam their cup onto the table the bluenette looked over to see a young man rush outside, "What's gotten into him?"

Figuring he should go keep an eye on the player he got up from his seat, leaving the tavern out into the streets of Urbus, "I hope that player isn't going to take on that quest. He was only level one. I'm surprised he decided to hang out on this floor of all places."

"Found it." Husky let out a small sigh, climbing up to a higher peak of a small mountain, where he could assigned the quest for himself. Talked to the old man that the old man standing in front of the dojo with a big question mark on his head, Husky was directed to a rock laying on the round. It's about as big as twice his body and half his height. "A destructible environment. So I just need to destroy this and the weapon skill is mine." Reminded himself with the objective of the quest, Husky cracked his knuckles, and get straight into work.

Taken his position and readied to attack, Husky rushed forward, throwing his fist up for a quick strike square in the middle. The rock didn't budge much, but he could see its health bar dropped by a tiny bit. "This is gonna be a long day." He told himself.

"Huh, I guess the quest has changed location again."

Heading out into the field zone Calrex kept a small pace behind the young player, keeping an eye on his surroundings to make sure that no monsters spawned nearby the low-level player, "If I can prevent it I'll make sure this guy doesn't die on my watch..."

Eventually he arrived at the peak of the mountain the young man had ascended up to, seeing that the quest had already begun as he took a shot at the rock, causing it to take some damage, "Huh, not a bad start. But he's gonna be at it for a while..."

Moving next to the quest start area the bluenette gave a small sigh as he sat down, looking over at the man as he continued to strike at the structure, "This probably seems pretty creepy huh? Maybe I'll just look at the view of the area below in the meantime."

Turning around the Ultramarine Knight looked at the grassy fields and mountains below. Some low flying clouds passed by as he gave a yawn.

While ready for another punch onto the rock, Husky notice someone in the corner of his eyes. "It's that same guy in the tavern... Very well equipped too." He though, looking at the guy acting suspiciously weird. "Is he... stalking me?" Husky raised his eyebrows, wondering what did the bluenette really wanted. Paused on what he's currently doing, Husky slowly and quietly approach the man, sitting and looking down on the area below the mountain peak.

"Hey there." Husky spoke. "I saw you at the tavern at Nimbus this morning. What are you.... doing up here?" He asked, wondering if the guy have any ill intention.

"Huh?"

"Whelp...I guess it was just a matter of time."

Giving a small sigh Calrex turned around to face the man that was striking at the rock not a few seconds ago, "Yeah, I was there. Sorry about that. I didn't mean to come off as stalking you or anything. I've actually completed the quest you're doing right now before, so I was curious if any changes had been made to it since I took it on, out of curiosity. Plus sometimes monsters on this floor like to instantly aggro onto anyone that's of a much lower level than they are, so I wanted to make sure you didn't get ambushed after dashing out of Urbus."

Putting a hand behind his head the bluenette gave another calming breath as he continued to speak, "I've heard of many players falling to boars of the first floor, even when they were Level 2 and up. Since this is the second floor, I also wanted to make sure you got to the quest location safely."

"Oh... It's nothing really. I'm just curious why you're here, that's all." Husky reply. "Thanks for the helpful advices and protection. I know my ways around things, but a helping hand is always helpful, I guess..." He shrugged, before returning to his task of punching the rock. "You know, it's absurd that how many people have died in the first few weeks. You would think that they would learned how to work together, than go alone then get overwhelmed by a monster." Husky chuckled, shook his head. "Sometime, I really wanted to help them, but really, how can one hunt down everyone that go out alone help them 'And the fact that I have no weapon skill at all...'" He took his pose, and resume his fight.... with an in animated object.

"Yeah, I know what you mean. When I was first starting out it seemed just common sense to train alongside other players around your level so that you all stay safe and gain experience together until you're strong enough to take on monsters on your own. But I guess people are still trying to solo things right from the get go."

As the young man returned back to taking on the quest Calrex walked back over to his original spot, taking a seat as he looked up to see Roc continuing to fly overhead, "In any case, what made you decide to go after the Martial Arts skill quest? I've noticed not many people find it to be worth the tim invested for some reason."

"Yeah, but from the luck of the draw I had apparently the Martial Arts skill I gained added a stronger Sword Art to my sword skills. But I'm sure that it's got some impressive abilities at higher levels as well."

Husky nodded at the stranger's statement on people irrationally trying to do things on their own. "I suppose not everyone is a team player." He chuckled. Just as Husky was about to lunged forward, he was interrupted by another question.

"To be honest, I never like wielding a weapon. It just seemed wrong to me for some reason. It's ju that I prefer doing things with my own hands. Probably a stupid analogy, but that's how I do things I guess."  Husky shrugged. He let out a sigh before running toward the boulder again, his hand swung forward for a strike. The punch landed square in the middle of the boulder, as he saw his health bar dropped. However, while talking to the stranger, the health bar of the rock was reset. Letting out a sigh in disappointment, Husky started his work from the beginning again.

"Fair point. I overheard some of the conversations going on in the tavern. If that's the popular standpoint on the extra skill, then I can understand why so many people avoid it. However, there's a lot more to it than meets the eye. I'm fairly sure that Martial Arts basher isn't even half close to using his weapon to its full potential."

Getting to his feet again Calrex dusted off his pants before walking over to his speaking partner, "Here, may I take a shot. I think this quest has gotten a lot more tedious than before. Let me see if I can help speed it up a tad."

Lowering himself into his <<Martial Arts>> stance. With the Grand Gauntlets II appearing around his forearms, the aura shot out from behind his elbows like jets before the bluenette rushed forward, triggering both <<Charge>> and <<Crescent Moon>>. Quickly closing the distance the Ultramarine Knight quickly turned 180 degrees and executed a low backflip, the extra propulsion from his gauntlets speeding up the rotation as his legs slammed into the rock.

Taking a few steps back he gave a small sigh of relief, "That should bring it's resistance down to reasonable levels."

Husky took a step back, letting the Ultramarine do his work with the rock. Seeing the stranger performing his combo, Husky looked in awe, as the rock's health bar depleted fast. "Well, isn't he something." Husky chuckled lightly, before spoken out. "Well... that's the whole day worth of work you just saved me there. Thanks for that, I think I can take it from here on. I wouldn't be able to die from an inanimate object, so I am not worry of that." Husky smiled, stepping forward and readied to attack the small boulder. "By the way, I don't believe we have introduced ourselves. I'm Husky, pleasure to meet you, sir."

The man stood his combatant stance, looking at the rock. Ran toward it, he wound up his fist and threw it toward the rock. His hand landed square in the middle of the boulder, as the rock crackled slightly. The health bar of the rock dropped to the blinking red mark. "Only a few more hits to go."

"Heh, well you can't die to inanimate objects, but with the patch since the time I took this on, you'd be more likely to die to boredom. In any case it's nice to meet you Husky. I'm Calrex."

Stepping back to his original spot the bluenette sat back down as the brunette took another shot at the rock, seeing another small bit of the rock's health vanish. It was certainly nothing compared to his own strikes, but he was more than aware the exponential increase in strength people gain when they rank up skills. It seemed almost ridiculous how large the gaps in strength was between the same weapon users solely by a single rank. However, it seemed Husky was going the route of what would be considered a monk or pugilist, relying only on his fists.

"That would possibly be a viable build for SAO. Without a weapon slot taking up his available skills he would be able to take on another skill and diversify the capabilities of his character. I'm curious how he'll turn out once he gets a bit stronger."

"Calrex. That's a nice na...." Husky compliments, as he was charging toward the rock. Accidentally tripped over his own foot and tumbled onto the ground. "Ow... That was embarrassing." Husky slowly sat up, rubbing his head as she slowly sat up from the ground. "I'm ok. It's all good here."

"Heh, alright then. Try avoiding charging to wind up your strike. I've seen a few players try that to get enough force behind their strike, but momentum isn't easily converted to damage. You'd get about the same amount of damage a standing punch as a running one, as unrealistic as that sounds."

Putting his hands into his jacket pockets the blunette glanced upwards to the sky, simply observing some clouds as they went by, "I wonder how many people I've assisted in this quest now?"

As Roc saw that there was no immediate danger around the peregrine falcon swooped down and landed next to Calrex, touching down gently on the grass.

"Hmmm, he does have a good point."Taking Calrex advice on how to properly attack, Husky stood closer next to the rock, and took stance. He extended his hand forward, expecting he wouldn't deal as much damage as before, but as he swung his hand and punched the rock square in the middle, it crackled, as the health bar of the boulder dropped to the last mark. "Wow... It actually work." Husky was taken by surprise, dealing as much apdamage as he did with the few precious critical attack. Look back at Calrex, his face grew a corky smile, hinting his annoyance at how wrong he has been doing things.

Calrex gave a encouraging smile at Husky as th young man flashed him his expression, "Just one more hit and you've got this quest done, heh."

"Yeah, there's many things that we over and underestimate about SAO. There's many things it can accurately emulate, but finger nuances the system still seems to look over. Heck, if willpower was quantifiable in this game I'm sure the way people are ranked now would be significantly different, because raw skill and effort over talent can sometimes be much greater than people expect."

His familiar cocked his head in curiosity at the brunette striking the rock as he took a quick hop over to a nearby rock in order to get a better look.

Wound up for the final punch, Husky turn his whole body around and swung his hand. Pushing himself forward as the momentum, he punched the rock with great force. On contact with his fist, the rock crumbles and collapsed down onto the ground. "Well, that's the most tedious part of the quest done. Thanks for the extra damage. That's really nice of you." Husky bowed down and thanks Calrex, before going back to the old man to return the quest.

"Heh, don't worry about it. This rock's health is a little bit unfair to those after the quest if you ask me. I mean, the amount of health that thing's got, you'd be punching it for nearly three days straight before it broke. Not really sure why whoever patched it decided to go that route."

Calrex gave a small bow himself before watching Husky go to complete the quest, getting to his feet as he dusted off his pants before putting his hands into his jacket pockets, "Well, I think that almost wraps things up here. Not exactly what I was planning, but at least this guy got the quest done in a reasonable amount of time. Now the question is where I should get moving now."

Looking left and right down the different parts of the mountain that led down, scratching the back of his head, "Guess this route leads back to Urbus. Before I go I'd best make sure he's all done with the quest."

After returning the quest to the old man in the front of the dojo, Husky received a notification on his skill tree. Once he opened the skill menu, he saw the Martial Art skill in his empty skill board. Immediately he purchased the skill with the points he has saved up. "That's that. Quest completed." Husky told himself, returning to where Calrex was standing at the moment.

"Alright. That's settled everything for today. I say we can go back to our usual daily business. I'm gonna head back to Floor one to test out this new skill." Husky told Calrex, before climbed down from the high mountain peak and make his way back to Urbus

"Heh, business as usual. That's the kind of business I try to avoid. In any case good to hear. Best of luck training that skill out, I hope it proves useful for you."

As Husky descended down the peak Calrex looked back towards the path he had come from, giving a nod to his familiar as the two began to make their own way back towards the settlement, "I think I might stop by the High Field of Crossing possible before I do. The flowers should be in bloom right around now."

Putting his hands behind his head the bluenette gave a small sigh as he looked up at the sky, continuing to make his way down the winding path.
