About: History/personality A blacksmith and swordsmith in real life, Gideon is a fan of fantasy style games. Wanting to experience the world of Aincrad and play a VRMMO, Gideon was overjoyed when he got his copy of SAO. Having no orders to fill for a month, Gideon made the arrangements with his wife to hold any that come in during the next couple days and gave her a kiss. He did not expect it to be his last one. Virtues: Honest - Not afraid to speak his mind, Nikodemus will often tell the truth no matter how deep into his insanity he falls. If a person is bad, he will tell them so. If a plan is fool-hardy, he will make it known. This has been a deep ingrained virtue instilled by his family. Loyal - Friends are hard to come by both in the real world, and even so in Aincrad. Because of this Nikodemus will never betray an ally or friend. Even at the deepest ends of his madness, he will stand beside those he calls friend and fight to the end with them. Due to his loyalty, he will not stand idle when people betray someone who trusted them. Unflinching - Fear of any kind is not felt by those who are the most deranged. Nikodemus is one of the few who have this trait. He will not cower to any foe, nor will he leave a battle that is considered a loss. He will stand tall and show courage in the darkest of times. Flaws: Deranged- Due to being locked within the world of Aincrad and seeing numerous deaths, Nikodemus mind has snapped and his psyche has become shattered like broken glass. The first few days Nikodemus wandered the Town of Beginnings curled in a ball nearby a small building, weeping and laughing maniacally at continued intervals. Soon after the first week, he began to re-assemble his broken mind, but the damage was irreparable. Being lucid in thought and motor functions, Nikodemus is still quite insane. Often seeing things in different ways than others, laughing at unsaid jokes, or playing around and making situations seem less dire than they are, Nikodemus keeps his mind together through sheer force of will. Gluttonous- No matter the amounts of food, Nikodemus has an uncharacteristic gluttony. Never gaining much weight from it, he devours food at an alarming rate and can often be heard mumbling about wanting food, especially sweets. When in town, Nikodemus can be found infront of food and candy shops drooling or mumbling about them. Impish- Because of his fractured mind, Nikodemus can at times be playful, even when it is annoying to others. He has been known to sidle up to random players and begin quizzing them, starting impromptu games of Tag, or stalking them down in an attempt at Hide and Go Seek. Despite this, he is never harmful to other players who aren't harmful to him, and he will be friendly to anyone. Profession: Rank 7 Blacksmith. (3 Slots) Description: A set of armor made from a type of black steel that has colorations of oxidized rust mixed throughout. The Helmet is large and ornate, with a large face mask that is shaped like a birds beak. Along the crown of the helmet is a set of spikes. The armor is large, encasing the wearer and giving them a larger frame. Along the shoulders, elbows, and knees are large spikes. The gauntlets end in clawed fingers, and the boots are pointed to viscious spiked tips. A tabbard draps in the front and back of the armor, strange symbols painted on them. (1 slot), Damage: +2. Description: A large one handed axe made of a unique black steel. It is shaped in a stylized manner to reflect a demons opened mouth. The actual blade itself emerges from the demon's mouth, it's teeth resting along the flat of the blade on both sides. From the head of the demon to the edge of the blade, it runs a length of 15 inches. The blade has a 4 inch beard on both the upper and lower ends that curve into sharp points. Along the blade there are greenish runic markings, and the edge itself shares this same green coloration. The handle of the blade is made of the same black steel, and it has similar green etchings along it's haft. The end of the handle has a collared pommel formed to a sharp point. The blade is sharpened so finely and holds an edge so well that the slightest swipe can cause a wound to open deeply and bleed profusely. Ent's Bane: One handed Axe. +1 dmg. They met at the young age of 19, and were married a year later, spending 8 years together before Gideon entered Sword Art Online. She was a key part in his success as a Blacksmith, ensuring he kept his orders organized, shop clean and ready, and did general books and upkeep while Gideon handled the Smithing and customer relations. She is also the lynch pin in his life, and the sole reason for escaping this nightmare. Heinrich: Gideon's brother. They grew up in a small town. Having been mostly alone and shunned by other kids for being the children of laborers, Gideon and Heinrich only had one another. They spent most of their time in the woods around their town or helping their father with his carpentry and smithing business. As teenages, the 2 brothers were both bull headed and often found themselves in brawls and fights with other local boys. Upon turning 18, both boys began to go their ways, Gideon taking up an apprenticeship as a Blacksmith, Heinrich going to a coastal town to work on fishing boats. They stayed in contact at all times, speaking via email, hand written letters, and phone calls when Heinrich was in port, but it had been nearly 3 years since the 2 saw one another. After hearing of Gideon being trapped in Sword Art Online, Heinrich began sending any spare money to Willow to help pay for medical bills and such. In Game: Familiar: Typhus: A large jet black raven with strange, glowing azure eyes and marks along it's upper body. The bird was discovered among the graves of Floor 13. Originally larger than a man, the Bird was a guardian of the floor and slew any who attempted to desecrate the graves or battle the mobs of that floor. After a battle with the creatures champion, it shrunk in size and became the being it is now. It's speech, powers, and size have been nullified, and it now follows the large armored giant whom it calls master. A golden band rests about it;s right leg, denoting it's name, and a jeweled collar adorns it's neck. Pic: Spoiler Allies: NIxon Ratatosk Hydra Avilon Seul Story Thus Far Keeping to the Town of Beginnings most of the time, Nikodemus has spent a good time staying away from combat and fighting. He is often seen in basic heavy armor with his One Handed Axe at his side and his shield strapped to his back. He occasionally will attempt to start games with random players, can be seen staring to food, or sitting just inside the safe zone borders watching people hunt boars. Due to his insanity, many call him Niko the Mad, or Niko the Hatter. He will occasionally talk about rainbow colored birds flitting about him and anyone nearby. These are hallucinations of his broken psyche. After spending much time meeting new people and getting stronger, Nikodemus was able to get some of his insanity under control after completing a strange quest that had forced him to fight his inner demons. Shortly after, he and a group of people he knew began to put their heads together to create something that would help new players and low leveled ones alike. While doing odd jobs to raise Col for this endeavor, Nikodemus and a friend were pitted against a group of thieves while saving a man from them. After dealing with most of the thieves, the man revealed he had commited a terrible betrayal and had bargained his life for his brothers. Angered at the lack of loyalty, Nikodemus murdered the helpless NPC after his friend had wounded him.
