[PP: F7][Complete] The Amazon and the Dragoon [Lawfer & Magda]

Recommended Posts

Upon feeling his hand on her shoulder her typical reaction would have been to react and possibly attack if she didn’t stop herself in time. However, she knew he was there she the urge to defend herself didn’t surface. His reasoning was sound enough but her main concern was being boxed in only to find herself between a wall and no telling how many beasties. Since she wasn’t one to usually turn away from potential danger she simply shrugged and walked back towards the wall and leaned her back against it. When he slid down until he was crouched close to the ground Magda looked his way with a smirk but opted to stay on her feet. If she followed suit she would be able to relax more but that would put her at a distinct disadvantage should any creatures appear. Back in the real world she could have just grappled with anything that attacked her but here things didn’t quit follow the same principles and logic. The tower shield she had on her left arm needed to be firmly planted in order to be utilized to its full potential and that would require proper footing. After he mentioned that they’d be there for several minutes she figured it’d be best to keep watch for anything lurking nearby. Her gaze shifted about the area in search of any threats but she quickly focused on Lawfer when he started to reveal the contents of the Vice Commander’s message.

Upon hearing that the boss could mess with their minds she quirked an eyebrow and just grinned when he made the suggestion that they should hold hands. He suggested that they continue to do so until they were reunited with the Vice Commander. At first her only reply was to raise her left arm to show him her shield and then she tapped the haft of her hammer that she held in her right hand against her shoulder. “If I put my mace or shield away I wouldn't be able to adequately protect you.” A wide grin spread across her face before she started to speak again. "But if you prefer you can hold on to my shield." Magda lifted her left arm to bring the edge of her tower shield closer to him and briefly winked at him. "An enemy that messes with your mind though," she said as she looked down the passage where the Vice Commander had headed off. "Sounds like a challenge to me." She grinned again and chose to look at this as an obstacle to overcome rather than focusing on it negatively.

Opal kept to the shadows, her hands down on the ground and looking to the oddly shaped Dungeon Boss. As she got close, the name above its head was World Eater. She didn't enjoy the likes of the name, and with such a disfigured looking body, she didn't want it to see what it could do. Within the shadows she lurked waiting for Lawfer and Magda to show up. She knew Lawfer would be here soon, so not acting out of heroics, but perhaps to help alleviate some mental pain for the two of them, she could catch and bring attention to herself rather than the others. With her odachi shining in the low levels of the light, the woman <<Charged>> sprinting as fast as she could towards the target. She slashed singularly, causing a massive orange streak to cross over the dark body of the oddity in front of her. It did not move nor did it break out in pain from her slash. Instead, its eyes from its bony beak turned and twisted to look at her. She felt sick to her stomach when it saw her face, once that thing broke free of its stun, she knew she might be in trouble, but for now...this is what she had to deal with.

Lawfer couldn't help but shake his head at the woman. "What is it about the Mack family and not listening. I'm trying to protect both of us... You think your sheild will be able to stop me if something flipped in my mind?" He asked sternly as he stood, then faced the amazonian woman. Dusting off his rear end, he nodded once more. "Ok, ill hold onto your shield. But if you feel threatened, stun me right away and find the Vice Commander." Lawfer fell silent, he hoped things wouldn't come to that, but if something had happened, he wouldn't be able to live with himself knowing that he hurt or killed a comrade.

Stretching his right arm across his chest, he then used it to reach over his shoulder and grasp his Lawbreaker. "We will be moving quickly. The boss lady should have already cleared anything big." Reaching back with his left arm, he motioned with his head to start moving. "Red, when we engage. I want you to use the Lullaby immediately, unless the commander is at risk. Remember, you can use a crystal, at the same time so if things get too dangerous don't worry about wasting anything." After that, Lawfer fell silent once more as he pushed on. His energy had finally recovered and he would be able to help Opal out. 'You better be ok, Op.' He thought to himself as he went deeper into the abyss.

The dark miasma filled the room, and grew thicker and thicker as they pushed forward. The dark thoughts of the past crept further and further into his head, becoming realer and realer with every passing second. This alarmed the Dragoon at first, however, he would not let these stray thoughts control him. Squeezing both his halberd and the tanks shield tightly, he could see the outline of the Vice Commander. She was squared up against a hideous abomination that lacked any semblance of a 'normal creature' in both looks and the way it moved. "Opal!" he yelled, trying to catch her attention. By now, he would not need to worry about aggroing the mob, as it seemed dazed from the last attack. "Magda, use the song!" He roared, as he looked back at the woman. The ferocity of the words, were only matched by the images of horror that played throughout his mind.

Magda’s eyebrows rose in surprise when the Dragoon suddenly started to criticize her for the decision she made. His comment that pretty much all but said she’d be helpless before him even with his shield should his mind be tricked into making him attack her stung her pride a little. She stood up to meet his gaze rather than letting him look down on her as he spoke. The grin that had been so common place was nowhere to be found.  Lawfer ended up agreeing with holding her shield with the understanding that if Magda felt threatened she should stun him and go find the Vice Commander. “Will do,” she simply said.

His advice was sound so she quickly nodded. So long as the Vice Commander wasn’t in immediate danger she was to use the song he’d given her to lower its accuracy and decrease the likelihood that it’d connect with any attacks. Her desire not to waste anything would be put aside as the health and well being of her allies were way more important to the redhead.  While Lawfer pressed ahead Magda moved to keep pace with him. His hand still held her shield.  The farther down into the labyrinth they went the more pronounced the effects of the mental barrage became. The ground seemed to shift and the walls pressed in and a sense of panic started to reign supreme within the tall redhead’s mind. Magda bit down on the inside of her cheek as she tried to focus her mind. Rather than focusing on her environment she turned and focused her attention fully upon the blond hair of her ally.

While Lawfer stepped forward she followed as she fought off the sickening feeling that settled over her. Pressure pushed up from her stomach and a burning sensation spread through her throat as which made her think that she had to throw up. It was an odd sensation to feel here of all places. Eventually though they passed into the room where the Vice Commander fought against the one responsible for the attacks on their minds and Lawfer’s sudden use of the Vice Commander’s name drew Magda’s mind back to the situation at hand. She blinked and when she heard him shout at her to use the song she quickly slid her hammer into the loop and her belt. Her hand immediately went down to a pouch on her belt. She pulled out the small disc and pressed a button on it that played a slow melodic tone that seemed to get directed towards the boss.

As her eyes fell upon that strange creature her abdomen tensed and she felt an overwhelming urge to take her weapon in hand and defend herself. The urge was suppressed as she took a few steps back. She didn’t want to get caught in the melee.

The Vice Commander had connected with her attack, but the sickly looking abomination was coming out of its previous stun state and the scaley legs and appendages started to move around once more. The thick black miasma around the room seemed to be kicked up and disturbed as the crerature turned to face Opal. She instantly felt terror welling up inside of her. It was such a disturbing and horrifying creature, like something out of a Lovecraft novel. As her hands strained to keep a tight grip on her katana hilt, the World Eater moved closer to her. Then there was a soft melody being played out. Opal looked to the left and right and found Magda, "Get away!" The Vice Commander demanded. That was then the World Eater had snatched Opal up, as soon as her legs was caught, she shrieked out of fear, flailing her sword like an infant would. She felt her mind being probed, a menacing voice speaking to her. She felt a chill run up her spine as it told her the number of ways it could easily kill her. It was attacking her psychically. She could feel her thoughts being drained with each whispered word into her mind until her HP started to drop slowly.

She was then thrown across the room, kicking up the distilled miasma as it once more fluttered about into the air. Opal groggily got up clutching her sword with one hand. She stumbled as she got back on her feet, shaking her head of those unclean thoughts. Grunting lowly, the blade began to shine in the darkness of the room and then she ran with a mighty battle cry and slashed the spindly legs of the abomination six times with power behind each attack, dropping its HP even lower.

"Great work Magda!" Lawfer stated as he released the woman's shield. He could feel the, grip of the monster tightening in his mind as he watched his Bice commander take a heavy blow. This sent the man into a rage. 'Calm yourself Lawfer. She can handle something like that.' He thought to himself, the Dragoon knew that he would not be able to help much if he let rage consume his actions. He wasn't some mad berserker that could come back from the dead. The spearman realized his mortality was something he should never try to forget.

"Red... I'm heading in deeper stay close enough, but don't pull any aggro." He stated as he slung his lawbreaker from his shoulder and barreled in towards the World Eater. If he was to be successful in helping, Lawfer knew he would need to stake everything he had on this single blow. His Hlaberd began to glow Crimson and silver as he spun three times slashing, then with one final strike he lunged forward and pierced the side of the deformed mess. "Finish it Opal!"

Magda grinned at Lawfer’s praise but it quickly withered when she heard the Vice Commander shout for her to get away. She'd lost her focus when Magda played the tune and gave the boss an opening to [censored] her up off the ground. “No,” she said in a low voice that sounded rather small. The Vice Commander's health started to plummet as she was tossed across the area. Magda moved to rush towards her but the Vice Commander got to her feet with a little more than half of her health remaining. Her eyes widened and she reached out with the spent disc still in her hand as if to offer the Vice Commander support despite the distance that separated them. The expression on her face was one of shock at first. Though her shock was short lived and soon a fiery anger started to swell up within her and her dark gaze slowly moved over towards the boss even as its mental effects slithered their way into her mind. The first sign of that intense anger was a slight furrowing of her brow. The corners of her lips curled down in frown. The sound of her teeth gritting together was too soft to be heard over the fighting. The music disc she’d just used broke apart in her hand but it was already moving before the first few shards of data vanished. Magda’s hand gripped the haft of her hammer with such intensity that the muscles along her arm bulged. The muscles in her jaws tensed and her hammer came free. She allowed the momentum to carry the hammer through a loose grip until she was able to grab hold of it lower and she was just about to charge forward and show this foul beast the error of its ways before she heard Lawfer speak.

His voice gave her reason to pause even though she was visibly seething. She'd been in many fights during her career where her anger had carried her through to claim victory. While she was always bright and optimistic once Magda got angry she wore it like armor and used it to push herself to new heights. Lawfer told her to stay back an avoid drawing any aggro and for the first time since she'd joined them on this venture Magda felt nearly useless. In a world where invisible parameters determined how strong she was she wasn't able to fight to her true potential. She'd have to train in a vastly different way here in order to get strong enough to protect her allies. She gave Lawfer a quick nod as she watched the Vice Commander unleash a series of slashes along the creature's body. Seeing her fight gave Magda some hope that she was ok. She could heal her but the boss looked to be near death after four slashes of Lawfer's halberd. She took out a health crystal just to be safe as she waited on the sidelines for just the right moment.

Opal had wondered what was going on as the Miasma thickened in the darkness around her. She could barely see anything in front of her face and that worried the Vice Commander of the others in the room she called out, "Lawfer! Magda! Are you two alright?" She had waited for an answer but heard nothing. It was then that the scaley legs of the abomination came forward towards her, the woman saw the slithering hooked arms and digits come crawling towards her, the black mat fur and the beady eye on the beak disturbed her. As it came closer and closer, those whispers poisoned her mind as she attempted to shake those perverse thoughts. "Not this time!" she demanded to herself, the blade pulsating and manifesting that silver aura once more that seemed to be a beacon in the dark thick fog. She blitzed the creature culling it with her blade until in languished in her slashes. She watched as bits and pieces of its form started to fizzle away until there was nothing left. Letting a final screech of its demise, it finally blew up into oblivion. The woman fell on bended knee as they had completed the dungeon. The pop up was quickly dismissed as her thoughts were on the safety of her guildmates.
