[F1-SP] I NEED MORE MATS! (Material gathering)

Having opened his shop and wanting to begin to provide items for players, Nikodemus knew his 20 materials wouldn't last long. He needed to get more and soon, or else he would be in a slump without any way to craft more weapons. Having made up his mind, Nikodemus closed his shops doors for the day and made his way to Nimbus teleport gate. Once there, he checked his gear and counted out his health potions and made sure his axe and shield were at the ready. Once he had made the checks needed, he stepped into the circle of the teleport gate and clearly shouted "Teleport: Town of Beginnings." With this, he was covered in a bright light and in the blink of an eye, found himself floating slightly above the ground in the middle of the teleport gate at the entrance to the Town of Beginnings. With a practiced effort, Nikodemus came down onto one extended food and then planted both feet firmly on the ground. With a sigh of relief, he made his way through the entrace to the town, then past the town safezone point.

 

Bringing his shield and axe to the ready, Nikodemus crossed the safezone line and moved into the low grasslands. Here he would find boars that he would be able to kill for materials. With a smile, he began to whistle as he made his way towards a pair of boars just down the way from his current position. As he drew nearer to them, Nikodemus picked up a small smooth stone and tossed it into the general direction of the boars. With a dull thud, the stone bounced from one boars tusk and turned them aggro to him. As they charged their way up the hill towards him, Nikodemus crouched low and brought his axe around in a viscous arc. His axe caught the lead boar directly side of the shoulder and sunk in, forcing the boar to the ground wounded. Yanking his blade free, and leaping back, he prepared for the second boars attack, but realized he had moved to slow in preparing and the second boar had cleared the distance between the wounded boar and Nikodemus. With a squeal the boar slammed into Nikodemus' right leg and spun him around hard, but his armors integrity held fast and he was left relatively unscathed save for one point of health ticking downwards.

Leaping away from the second boar, Nikodemus came to a halt nearby and readied himself. The first boar staggered to it's feet and lumbered towards him at a limping run. Taking the situation seriously, but not focusing on just one boar, Nikodemus lunged forward and swung at the boar, but missed by an inch. Leaping over the wounded boar, and inadvertantly clearing the other boar who had charged in also, Nikodemus came to a rest just behind them. With a slight sigh, Nikodemus spun and prepared himself for the next trade of blows.

Not wanting to drag the fight out and remembering the words a companion once said, Nikodemus decided the battle needed to end and he needed to only fight as a last ditch effort, and should instead search for materials on the ground. With another sigh, Nikodemus rolled his shoulders beneath his armor and then charged in with a furious swing at the wounded boar. His axe bit deep once more into the wounded boar and broke through bone, but did minimal damage to any internal organs. Given time the boar would have bled to death, but Nikodemus knew he didn't have that time. Drawing his axe from the wound, Nikodemus stood still as the wounded boar slammed into him, followed by the second boar.

 

As they hit his armor, he felt their tusks scrap against his armor and watched as 2 more points of health ticked off his meter. After a second, his <Thorns> effect on his armor and shield activated and sent a wave of damage through both boars and reduced their health to 0 in an instant. As they shattered like glass and their pixelated remains scattered into the winds, Nikodemus fell back into a sitting position and began to laugh loudly. After a moment, he caught his breath and stood up and wandered about the area looking around the ground for materials

While looking around, Nikodemus searched the high grasses and shrubs. Whistling a disjaunted tune, he kept his spirits high and continued moving from area to area. He came across rocks, twigs, and roots, but was having abit of a hard time finding items. With a sigh, he sat down for a moment and watched his health tick up for a moment and scanned around for anything that immediately jump out at him.

After a moment of rest, Nikodemus began to search again. He took his time and dug through each and ever shrub and tuft of grass. Grumbling abit after some time, he sighed and then moved from the area he was in and to a new part of the grassland. Looking for mats, he smiled moved around the grasslands digging about the tufts of grass. After an hour of finding nothing once again, he rested for abit and then resumed his search.

As he continued on, his health ticked to full and he smiled seeing this. He continued onwards searching for items, but everytime he found something, it was always just useless refuse. With a shrug of his shoulders, he figured he'd keep going and look for more things. He continued his whistling as he moved about here and there and kept his guard up incase a random pair of boars spawned near him and aggro'd him. As he dug through tufts of grass, he spotted a shimmer and thought it was a material, but upon picking it up he noticed it was just broken glass from a bottle or jar. With a sigh, he dropped it and continued.

Deciding to give it one more try, Nikodemus began to search about an outcrop of rock and shale. Searching up and down the edges, Nikodemus moved closer into the main portion of the outcrop and began to move as many loose stones and chunks of shale as possible. Finding mostly nothing, he kept digging with determination and kept his spirits up while he sought for materials. After lifting the last chunk of movable shale, Nikodemus began to laugh and dance as he found a material laying beneath it. Picking it up, he added it to the satchel that held the other 2 materials from the slain boars and then moved on to the next area.

Wandering along farther, Nikodemus was happy to as it seemed his luck turned in his favor. As he made his way along the grassland, he kept his eye out and sought around any materials. Finding nothing he kept moving onwards. Seeing other players fighting boars and searching, he continued on past them to another area that seemed to be empty of life. Upon finding such a place, Nikodemus wandered around searching, but seemed to find nothing once more. As he was about to give up, his foot caught hold on something, and he looked down seeing a material sticking from the ground. Collecting it, he added it to his pouch and continued looking.

Having tested his luck further, Nikodemus continued onwards and began to look more so he could find more materials. Whistling a more normal tune, Nikodemus smiled wide and continued scouring the grass. Tossing aside anything useless, he shrugged them off and moved on without concern. After abit of digging, Nikodemus found another item in a tuft of grass and collected it, putting it with the rest.

After having a rest, Nikodemus continued onwards in his search for materials. His body was alittle stiff from resting so long in his armor, but he would be fine and once he was done, he could return to his shop in Nimbus and rest. With a smile, Nikodemus moved down a small dry riverbed that had formed where 2 hills had met at the bottom and been carved out by rainwater. Walking down the dry bed, Nikodemus spotted a shimmer and leaned down picking it up. Seeing it was another material, he put it with the rest and smiled. His luck was going well and he prayed it remained.

Having followed the riverbed to it's source, Nikodemus found nothing else in the bed. Hopping from the riverbed, he then moved on up one of the hills and further into the grasslands. Keeping himself wary of any potential dangers, Nikodemus continued searching amongst the tall grasses and shrubs.Finding nothing of use once more, Nikodemus decided he would try his luck once more on boars and began searching for a pack of them.

While searching for boars, Nikodemus came upon a rooting ground where some boars had just been. Digging about the area Nikodemus found a material sitting in the turned over mud and roots. Putting it with the rest, he moved on in the direction he assumed the boars would have went. Cresting a small hill, Nikodemus looked about the valley and noticed a group 3 boars just below him. He began to make his way to them slowly so as not to get their attention and draw aggro just yet.

Finally coming close to the boars, Nikodemus caught the attention of the boars and awaited them to charge him. He had hoped to draw them one at a time, but that had failed. As the boars closed the gap, Nikodemus swung hard with his axe but missed the boar by a small fraction of an inch. The first boar slammed into his shield and pushed him back a step. Upon contact with his shield, his <Thorns> effect activated and sent a damage wave through the boar, shattering it instantly. Before he could prepare to swing once more, the other 2 boars came charging in fast. Deciding to not risk it, Nikodemus leapt over them and then spun around to meet them once more.

Having spun to meet the boars, he lunged in to strike one of them, but once more missed. Cursing loudly, he crashed into the second boar as it charged him. His shield and armor took the brunt of the damage, and once more his <Thorns> effect kicked in and turned the boar to pixels. He lay there panting, the 3rd boar and come in behind him and smashed into him at full charge, rolling him over 3 times before charging on and turning to come back in for another hit.

Tired of the drawn out battle, Nikodemus leapt forward and swung hard with his axe. The blunt of the blade thudded from the boars tusk and slid past it harmlessly. The boar smashed into him head on and his <Thorns> effect saved him once more. The last boar exploded into broken pixels and then vanished. Falling down, Nikodemus took large deep breathes and tried to relax. After a short breather, Nikodemus gathered the few materials the boars dropped and stumbled towards a large tree nearby where he could rest for abit.

With a sigh, Nikodemus realized how close he had come to death. He had the health potions to re-gain his health, but he didn't know if he'd have the time to use one if the fight had went any longer. deciding to not press his luck in battle anymore. Nikodemus relaxed for a moment and let his health begin to refill, and then began to search for materials once more. Turning over some roots and grass, Nikodemus came up empty with the nearby area. He decided to begin making his way back to the safezone and would continue searching along the way. As he moved, he kept a wary eye about for anything that would be an issue for him, such as more boars.

As he continued along the way he came, he made sure to move about through the areas he hadn't searched. When coming back to an area that was once populated by boars and players hunting them, Nikodemus found them to be empty. This made him alittle uneasy as he didn't know the fate of the players. He saw no boars nearby, so he held a small hope that they had been cleared and the players had returned to the Town of Beginnings. Looking about the area for anything, Nikodemus held little hope of finding much as the area was most likely pillaged. This turned out to be true and Nikodemus shrugged and moved on.

Coming within a few hundred meters of the Town of Beginnings, Nikodemus smiled and stopped for a rest. While sitting against a small rock, Nikodemus scanned about and dug here and there for anything. He of course came up empty. "When I get the money, I need to go find someone to make me something that will help with searching..." Shaking his head lightly, Nikodemus watched the sunset slowly over the horizon and smiled as his health continued to tick up. He would return home soon with the few materials he had and would make sure to put them to good use. He also hoped he would get some business soon, but even if he didn't right away, he knew soon he would. He had heard news of the raid meeting for floor 15's boss. Rumor was it was going to be a big one and a few crafters, alchemists, blacksmiths, and even a tailor or two were lending wares to anyone who would be fighting on the front lines. He hoped he would be there one day soon, fighting alongside those men and women. With a smirk, he stood and patted the dust from himself and continued towards the Safezone.

Moving along the grasslands Nikodemus looked about the grass some more. He wasn't really paying much attention for materials any longer. He was now just on autopilot and looking about for the hell of it. As he got closer to the Safezone he watched his health tick up to almost full. With a smile, he began to whistle as he strolled along and into the Town of Beginnings. Making his way to the teleport gate, Nikodemus stretched out and gave slight waves here and there to NPCs and players alike that he had met. When he finally reached the teleport gate, he stopped and counted out the materials and things he had gained from slaying the boars and searching about floor 1. Glad of the amount, he then stepped into the Teleport gate and spoke loudly "Teleport: Nimbus!". With that, he was once more engulfed in a bright light and returned to Floor 7's main settlement and safezone.
