[PP-F3] Into The Forest! <<Worn Out Welcome>>

Quote

The master NPC Armorsmiths Griswold, and his wife Hanna, have opened his services to new players of SAO a custom armor shop. He takes orders for no price, but instead asks for materials. That's right. YOU, the player, have to tell Griswold what kind of armor you want. He'll give you the material names and how to get them, and it's up to you to retrieve them.

Entering the shop on Floor 3, you encounter a surly smith and his loving wife. After describing the type of armor you desire (Cloth, Leather, Light Metal, or Heavy Metal) Griswold works with you to determine the right type of material, before sending you on your way to collect the needed materials. Upon returning with the correct materials in the proper quantities, Griswold and Hanna will create your very own set of Uncommon Armor. These materials can be found from fighting a dark elf in the Forest of Wavering Mists.

The swordsman had been doing a little exploration lately, on other floors.  He had begun to learn his way around on the first floor and had gone to both the fourth and fifth floors now, trying out different quests and meeting different people.  This game world was truly massive and it seemed, no matter how hard he tried to find it, that there was no end, nor limit.  He sighed, feeling a bit overwhelmed, but knew he had to keep going.  He had heard of an armor shop on the third floor that could make you custom gear.  He licked his lips as he finally located the shop.

"Welp, guess I should send a shout out to the others..." he sighed, before swiping his hand through the air to bring up his friend list.  Accessing both Caspar and Jambi's names, Ronin sent each of them PMs to come and join him on the third floor, pinging his location so they'd easily be able to find him.  Now, it was just a matter of waiting until they arrived.  He sparked up a cigarette and took a seat on a little stone wall nearby the front of the shop, looking up at the night sky and counting the stars.

"Well hey there! I've never been to this floor before! It seems nice! I can't wait to explore it with you and your friend! I've spent all of my time on floor 1 and still haven't seen everything, this place is massive!" When Jambi arrived she spotted Rae. It was night time and from her distance she couldn't necessarily see his face but a dark figure sitting on a wall smoking a cigarette. She didn't have to see much more to know who it was. Jambi had received the notification from Rae and jumped right at the opportunity to explore a new floor with good company. She hadn't meet Caspar yet but from all Rae had told her she knew they would get along splendidly! "So is this the place you mentioned?"

"Yess'n... sure is... now we jus' gotta' wait til Caspar shows up..."  answered Ronin, still a little taken aback that his wife had entered into this death game and managed to find him.  He sighed a smokey breath into the night air and lowered his chin from the sky, looking off down the street to see if there was any sign of his comrade Caspar yet.  Not spotting the man yet, Ronin continued to wait patiently, knowing he would never have a boring moment as long as his wife was around.  "So yeah... we're going to poke into this place in a sec and see what the deal is... I've heard these guys make some custom armor, so we might be able to score something sweet from 'em."

As the bright light quickly faded from his eyes after being teleported, Caspar had found himself in an area he had never seen before. It was already dark outside and he knew there was a good chance stronger enemies preferred to roam around once the sun had set. Expressing no emotion on his face, Caspar looked around from left to right until he saw a dim glow catch his attention. The slow red glow came from above a small stone wall that was about fifteen yards away from him. Right away, that's when Caspar knew it was Ronin. After all, he didn't know many other players that smoked in game. Placing one foot in front of the other, Caspar then began to casually walk towards Ronin and the unknown female player as he eyed her up and down the best he could in the dark environment. After all, this was now kill or be killed, and he didn't know anything about her. As he finally reached the two, Caspar stood in place as he then folded his arms across his chest and looked at Ronin. "Got your message... Armor Shop huh? " Caspar said.

Hearing someone coming, Ronin's ears perked up as well as his head.  He peeked past his wife, looking down the street to see an approaching figure heading their way.  Squinting his eyes, he pulled another long drag at his cigarette and then plucked the cancer stick from his lips.  "Mmm... looks like he finally made it..." he said under his breath, expelling smoke into the air.  "Yea... this is the place.  Heard they make custom armor here... Let's head inside and take a look..."  He pushed himself up to a stand and flicked his cigarette to the breeze, turning toward the shop to head inside.  Pausing as he reached the doorway, he realized he had forgotten something.  "Oh... by the way... this is Eliz... I mean, Jambi... "  Ronin then turned his back to the pair and stepped into the shop, deciding they would enter whenever they were ready.

While waiting on Rae's friend, Jambi began eyeballing her husbands avatar. She knew that everyone's character was a reflection of how they looked in real life but this game definitely had an impact on Jambi's appearance and she began to notice slight differences in her husbands appearance as well. As she was studying Rae she heard another character approaching. "Wellll howdyyyy!!" Jambi sang out after Rae had made the initial introduction. "Aren't you so excited? Have you been to this floor before Caspar? Isn't it so great!" Jambi voiced to her new friend as she began to follow Rae into the store.

Upon entering the shop, Ronin's eyes widened in amazement as he caught sight of all the various pieces of gear on display.  There were massive, fantastic looking shields, huge gauntlets, helmets and chest pieces all crafted to perfection and adorned with interesting little features.  They were engraved and made to the most perfect of specifications and Ronin quickly found himself drooling as he admired them.  Being a blacksmith himself, he couldn't help but get a little chubby while wandering his way through the shop, taking it all in.  One day, he hoped to get his skill up high enough to make stuff like this.  "Wow... this gear is incredible," he said to himself, though someone else seemed to hear it as well.  "Ah, Welcome ma' boy!  My name is Griswold, and this is my wife Hanna... I see you've found our custom armor shop!  Please, don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions!"

"Hey, whats up?" Caspar responded as he heard Jambi speak to him. The girl seemed to already be very friendly and didn't seem shy to show it either. "I've never been to this floor yet, no." Caspar said to Jambi as he produced a small smile at the corner of his lip. As Caspar walked inside the shop he immediately found himself bouncing his eyes off one piece of armor and weaponry to the other. The shop appeared to have the ability to produce some very impressive works of art. All of which Caspar wouldn't mind having at some point in time. The truth however, was that he never really was a fan of bulky armor that restricted his movement, and will never ever wear a helmet as long as he lived. In a perfect world, Caspar would like some clothes much like the ones he currently wore that were also very strong and could protect him. How that could ever work wouldn't be his concern, if the blacksmith was skilled enough and wanted their money, it would be their issue to deal with and figure out.

Walking through the shop, Caspar stopped in front of a shield that was at eye level with him. The shield was beautifully crafted and looked expensive, but in all honesty Caspar never was a fan of shields either. However, it wasn't the impressive looking shield that stopped him in his tracks. No, it was the perfectly polished front of it that showed his reflection. Looking at his reflection, Caspar couldn't help but turn his attention to the long scar that went across his face, in between his eyes. Slowly lifting his hand up towards his face, Caspar ran his black gloved hand down the scar as it helped keep him in a check. It was a constant reminder of the real world, something that was important for him and everyone else to get back too. It was almost as if the scar proved to him over and over again that this world is a game, that way he would never go insane here.

Snapping out of it and turning his head to the man as his longish brown hair followed suit, Caspar acknowledged the store owner as he nodded slightly. "...Thanks."

As Jambi entered the store she saw the guys googling over all the armor like kids in a candy store. She had to admit the owners definitely knew what they were doing and she appreciated all the detail they put into their work. A lot of the smith stores on floor 1 were pretty generic from what she had noticed. Jambi's eyes scanned the inventory quickly and she was immediately drawn to a shield hanging on the wall close to where her husband was standing. It looked exactly like a Caribbean steel drum. Jambi and her husband had taken a few trips to the Caribbean in their real life together. She had a flash back of sitting under a tiki hut at sunset with her husband there. They were drinking pina coladas and could hear the music from the drums in the distance. It had all been hypnotizing to Jambi. She loved this memory and allowed it to wash over her and for the next few minutes she was on the beach. She could hear talking in the shop but all she could see was this memory.

"Man, I can't get over this [censored]... you must have a crazy high blacksmith skill level," Ronin blurted without thinking.  It was then that he remembered the man behind the counter was just an NPC and he shook his head, feeling extremely stupid.  There was still a lot he needed to learn about this world.  "Well ma' boy, see anything you like?" asked Griswold, peering over the counter at the three strangers who had entered into his shop and were looking around at his creations.  "I'd like some custom armor made..." began Ronin, turning his attention toward a sturdy looking leather chest piece that was laid out on display.  "Maybe something like this..." he added.

"Ah yes, that's a very nice piece.  However, in order for me to make your something, you must first go and fetch the materials needed to make it!  I've got plenty of leather already, but in order to make you something special, I'll need a rare flower that grows deep in the Forest of the Wavering Mists.  Go and retrieve the flower, bring it back here, and I will make your armor."

A pop up window suddenly appeared in the air in front of Ronin, drawing his attention to the details.  It was just as Griswold had said.  They would have to venture into the forest and bring this flower back in order to receive the armor.  Peeking back at the other two in his party, Ronin nodded his head before pushing the confirmation button.  "Here goes nothin..." he said quietly.  "Very good!  Now go, and do be careful... there's dangerous things lurking in that forest..."  Ronin nodded to the shop keeper, before turning and looking to the others.  "Looks like we've got a new quest... you guys in?"

After hearing Ronin's question, Caspar then nodded to him. "Yeah." He responded as he then looked over at Jambi to see what her response would be. Turning around and walking towards the door, Caspar then walked past the newly meet female as he saw she was in a trance starring at the shield. "You with us?" Caspar asked, not indicating if he meant it litterily or figuratively as he kept walking, attempting to snap her back into "reality". Walking to the door, Capsar collapsed his hand around the door handle as he pushed the door open and crossed the threshold into the outside world. Taking a few more steps forward, the black clothed male then swiped down in the air in front of him as he pulled up the game menu. After accessing the map section, he then observed the distance it would take them to reach the Forest of the Wavering Mist. As the glow of the holographic screen illuminated his expressionless face, he then calculated it would take them around forty five minutes to reach the forest from their current position. Forty five minutes in the dark that is.

Returning to the main menu, Caspar then turned and looked over his shoulder as he waited for the other two. Without looking Caspar selected his Colt Python Sword as it self generated in his hand. Gripping the gun bladed weapon in his hand, he then lifted it upwards as he rested it across his shoulders. Turning his attention back at his menu he then scrolled through it quickly before closing it out, returning his attention back to the dark sky'd world around him.

Once the two of them were ready to go, Caspar wouldn't mind taking the lead. "Lets get this over with." Caspar said to them over his shoulder as he took off in the direction of the forest...

Jambi was swaying to the island sounds. The drumming was in perfect harmony with the waves washing on the shore. The air was salty and the vibrations were peaceful. She could live in that moment forever she felt. As Jambi drifted further into her fantasy and farther from reality she began to lose control of her sways. Jambi was tripped up a bit from her lack of balance and it snapped her back instantly into the present. Slowly, the events that had happened before her daydream came back to her but she still felt a little hazy. "You better get going, you and your friends have just accepted a quest." Jambi looked around to see where the voice was coming from and noticed a woman behind the counter. Probably the black smith's wife she thought. "Oh yeah. Thanks!" Jambi replied and headed out the door. She noticed Caspar was already outside. "This quest is going to be fun!"

After a good while of walking in the dark, the trio had finally reached the outskirts of the forest.  "So... guess this is the place eh?" Ronin proposed, pausing and looking toward the others.  He eyeballed Caspar for a moment, wondering if that gunblade he wielded was going to do him any good inside this place.  After all, Griswold had mentioned that the forest contained some dangerous things and Ronin knew all too well that if they weren't careful in here, they might all end up dead.  He sighed, feeling the severity of their situation and knowing he needed to speak up.  Taking a quick peek toward his wife, he wondered if she even had a weapon at all...

"Caspar... hold up a sec... I've got somethin' for you."  Ronin accessed his inventory and pulled one of his most recent creations into view.  It materialized in his hand and he smirked as he looked it over before tossing it toward his comrade.  "Catch," he said, before turning back to his inventory menu.  With a few more swipes of his hand, he located another weapon he had crafted inside his shop and decided it might be just right for Jambi.  "Hey you... yoo hoo... heads up, I've got somethin' for ya..." he said, trying to get the girl's attention.  A heavy assault spear materialized in his hands and he planted the base of it firmly in the ground, leaning the pointy part in Jambi's direction.  "Here, take this...  We're all going to have to be ready going into this place... who knows what we'll be up against."

After his friend grabbed his attention, Caspar then stopped in his tracks as he looked back at Ronin. "Hmm? What is it?" Caspar asked in a curious yet careful tone. After all, the last thing he wanted to hear all the way out here was bad news. The next thing he knew he was being told to catch the oncoming weapon that was being tossed his way. With his free hand, Caspar caught the two handed sword as he held it tightly. Instantly after that, his gunblade in his other hand instantly vanished as the game mechanics took over and only allowed him to carry one weapon at a time. Besides, he couldn't dual wield... yet. As he then held it in both hands a small menu popped up in front of his face giving the stats and description of his newly gifted item from Ronin.

"The Vampire's Tongue... +1 Damage and a bleed effect too, nice." Caspar said to himself as he then looked the sword over up and down in his hands, noticing the crimson colored clothed hilt. Looking up at Ronin, Caspar smiled. "Hell yeah, awesome. Thanks man." Caspar said to him as he then went back to looking the two handed sword over one last time.

Twirling the sword around quickly, Caspar then thrusted it into the ground with a grunt as it stayed in place so he could access his menu. Swiping down with his finger in front of him Caspar's menu illuminated his face as he started to scroll through it and click on his inventory. "Good point Ronin, since we are on the edge of this forest, I'm gonna go ahead and get my inventory straight. I made a potion earlier today too that we can use in case things go south in battle. Just let me know if you guys need it." Caspar said he continued to prepare before going into the forest.

After he got everything straightened out and how he liked it, Caspar then gripped his newly acquired sword with both hands as he freed it from the Earth. Slowly letting it fall, the sword then rested along his right shoulder as he then turned and faced the forest. Looking up at the tall dark trees that rooted themselves into the ground before then, Caspar then slowly lowered his chin as he looked forward. "Here goes something..." Caspar whispered as he then walked toward the forest. As soon as his foot touched the forested land, a sudden white mist appeared before them, blanketing the surrounding area. The mist itself was not very dense, it just made it annoying to decipher where they were headed for now...

"A Potion?!  Oh yeah.. lemme take a look at it!" replied the swordsman, glad to know that Caspar was already making good use of his Alchemy profession.  He thought back, remembering how he had helped his comrade to complete the quest and how they had found the batwing up in that cave.  "Man... seems like so long ago when we did that quest....  what's it been... just a day or two?"  Ronin had been going through so much in the last few days that he could hardly keep track.  He had just gotten going himself, opened up his own little blacksmith shop, tried to get a handle on the combat system and had even run into his wife from real life...  Needless to say, he had his hands full with all sorts of exciting and surprising new things.

The smoker was glad to see that Caspar was digging the sword he had made and he wanted to make sure and remind him of who was responsible for crafting it.  "...I made that one by the way... In case you hadn't guessed.  Gotta' say I'm stoked with this blacksmith job and I think I'm gettin' pretty good at it.  I know that Griswold said we'd be getting some custom armor outta' this quest if we do it right, so I was thinking you can take it, since you know... I already have some."  Ronin swiped his hand and wiggled his fingers until he finally found and equipped his chest plate.  The heavy armor materialized over his torso and his knees bent slightly to absorb the new found weight.  He knocked on it with his knuckles, showing off its durability.  "I've also got this kickass shield," he added, equipping his shield and looking down at it.

"Oh yeah... but your potion, that's what I wanna' see... what kind is it?  What does it do?" he wondered looking curiously toward Caspar.

As Jambi reached the forest with her comrades, her mind was still in the limbo stage between worlds. Usually, she only had two worlds to deal with in real life, her daydreams and what was actually going on around her. In this virtual world things became even more twisty. Coming back from such a vivid memory was tough and no matter how long Jambi had been in Aincrad it wasn't getting any easier trying to decipher where she actually was.

She heard her husbands voice. Jambi hadn't expressed much to Rae since running into him in this virtual world but she made a note to tell him at some point she was glad to have him around in whatever world she was in. Jambi saw Rae give Caspar a new weapon. It was nice having Caspar around too, Jambi thought. She hadn't had any character interaction other than Rae and her new friend. It was nice knowing she wasn't the only one dealing with this crazy situation.

After Rae gifted Caspar with a sword he pulled out a new spear for Jambi. "Oh boy!!! Thank you so much! I absolutely love it!!!" She said as she quickly snatched it out of his hand before he could change his mind. "You made this?!!? Wow, this is the coolest." Jambi voiced with excitement and she followed her friends into the mist while they discussed some potion or whatever. She still wasn't even sure what type of quest they were on but Jambi wasn't paying much mind to them, she was too busy checking out the forest and swinging her new weapon around to and fro.

"Wow! This flower is so pretty." Jambi said under her breath as she leaned in to get a whiff. She had never seen anything like this before. Jambi usually never picked flowers because she felt like it would kill it but she couldn't resist this one, plus I mean this is only a virtual flower right?

"Hey guys!!!" She called out to her friends. "Come check this flower out!"

Making his way through the thick misted forest, Caspar waved his hand in front of his face every now and then to try and clear the mist so he could see. As he did, the white mist would part ways as he could briefly see the ground in which he was stepping on. Unable to locate any unique flowers, Caspar continued to trek on as he also kept his eyes open for any enemies that may be hiding in the crazy looking trees. Just as he stopped to take a quick break to get his bearings he heard Jambi cry out in the forest with excitement. Snapping his head to the side, Caspar looked over at Jambi through the forested area as he saw she had seemed she might have found the flower in which they were looking for.

Turning his body and facing her, Caspar walked towards her in a quickened pace as he looked to his left and right over and over on his way to her. He wanted to be sure no one would use this opportunity to take advantage of attacking them. As he was close to coming up on Jambi he then turned his attention to her. "If that's it, lets pick this thing and get the hell outta here." Caspar said.

Dark Breña Flower

As the special flower was picked by Jambi, an unseen creature of the forest felt a prick of pain.  "Grmmm..." he grumbled in a quiet and low tone, beginning to stir beneath the pile of leaves and dirt he had nestled into for the night.  The dark elf had had a long day and endured many hardships.  All he had wanted to do was lay down, cozy up in the dirt and blanket himself with some leaves and other foliage for warmth.  He had been having some issues with a particular female goblin he liked and something to do with the joint custody battle for their offspring.  With all these hardships he was currently facing in his life, there was one thing and one thing alone that brought him a little comfort and happiness in the world; a beautiful, unique little orange and red flower.

He didn't have the best hygiene, especially when it came to his feet and in recent weeks, one of his boils on his big toe had popped and the puss had dried and then budded, eventually sprouting a flower which had just bloomed and brought great beauty and warmth to the dark elf's life.  Now, after saying goodnight to his little flower friend, he had just gotten comfortable and closed his eyes, dozing off into a wonderful slumber, when suddenly he felt that sharp pain in his big toe.

"Uhh guys..." mumbled the swordsman, looking past his two comrades, as a dark figure with glowing sapphire hued eyes began to rise up behind them.  Ronin lifted his gloved hand slowly, pointing repeatedly with his index finger in an attempt to warn Jambi and Caspar that something terribly evil looking had risen up and was now towering over them, standing right behind them, and as far as Ronin could tell, this creature looked pissed.  "...There's a uhh... a uhh... there's..." stuttered the smoker, unable to spit it out due to his sheer surprise over what he was looking at.  Hopefully his comrades would pick up on his warning and turn around to see what they were now up against, before it was too late.

"Ah [censored]..." managed the swordsman at last, watching in horror as the dark figure finally achieved a full stand and lifted two massive swords into view.  Knowing he couldn't hesitate any longer, Ronin stamped the sole of his weathered boot into the soil below, lunging hard off of his left foot and racing toward his two unsuspecting comrades.  The Dark Elf lifted one of his swords, preparing to behead both Caspar and Jambi with one foul swoop.  The chain smoking blacksmith kicked a pine cone in mid stride, sending it sailing toward the creature with great speed.  Suddenly distracted by the incoming projectile, the Dark Elf swung his massive blade, but missed, chopping hard through the air right over the heads of Ronin's two comrades.

A powerful gust of wind rushed through the area with a loud audible WOOSH! from his missed swing and Ronin came skidding to a stop next to his fellow party members.  "My flower!!!" boomed the voice of the Dark Elf, shaking the entire area.

"Uhhm... Jambi... I think he wants his flower back..."

The mist in the forest had been so thick she didn't notice the sleeping beast the flower had been growing from. She was so stoked on this flower and had been consumed with the idea of showing her friends that when Rae started mumbling she hadn't really thought much about it. She figured he was as blown away as she was with the beauty. Then all of a sudden she could feel the dark presence behind her. The following events happened so quickly she was glad Rae had noticed and took action or else she was certain her head would've flew right off her neck and exploded on the floor like a big ole juicy watermelon. She felt the WOOSH from the dark elf's sword and quickly looked over at Caspar to be sure he was still in one piece. Jambi never would attack anything for no good reason but this big old jabroni just tried to kill her new friend and she was sure that if he was given a chance would attempt a swing at her husband to. "Now look here ya big hag! You just tried to kill me and my friend, I am sorry for picking your flower but there is no reason to act like that. You have left me no choice but to strike down upon thee with great vengeance."  Jambi yelled at the monster as she soared out of her shoes into the air slashing the elf's torso diagonally. "Take that ya ugly beast!"

As the dark elf surfaced, Caspar stood unsuspectingly in the elf's cross heirs. With the sudden pitter patter of Ronin's footsteps fast approaching, Caspar shot his head up as he saw him racing towards him and Jambi. "What the!?" Caspar let out as he then quickly turned around and saw the giant elf staring down at him mid swing. As the enemy missed his attack, Caspar's brown hair waved wildly in place as he felt the wind from the elf's sword woosh past him. With a look of shock on his face, all he could think of for that second was how that could have been the end for him.

Quickly getting his head back in the game, Caspar then narrowed his brows as he readied his newly acquired sword. As he watched Jambi leap into the air, he watched as she slashed the elf in a horizontal manner, damaging it. Seeing an opening, Caspar then jumped off the ground as he flew through the air towards his enemy. With the elf staggering back, Caspar brought his sword upwards as he held it behind his back. Once he got into range of the enemy, he then swung the sword downward in an attempt to cut the enemy in half.

*Swoooosh!*

Caspar's sword slashed vertically as he missed his target. "... [censored]! I  missed! How!?" Caspar said as he watched the dark elf move to the side of him with a devilish smirk on his lips...
