(F6-SP) <<Calming the Soul>> COMPLETE

Recommended Posts

Scarlet frowned as she approached the Waterfall of the Sage. She knew that she had told Crimsa that she wasn’t going to go seeking out her memories, but she was actually quite curious and this seemed the best way to accomplish her goals. This way she had an excuse to regain her memories. Just that she was doing a quest and happened to get them back at the same time, along with getting a good number of skill points as well.

Scarlet walked to the center of the pool of water that the waterfall emptied into,  a bit nervous about this whole affair. She had heard that this quest could drive people crazy, and sometimes not even work. She could be sitting there for hours, waiting for something to happen, and then be disappointed. She took a seat on the rock in the center, crossing her legs like she had seen monks do in movies. Hopefully this would work.

She sat there for a few minutes, her eyes heavy from boredom. She was literally sitting on a hard rock in front of a waterfall. The sound of rushing was still surprisingly peaceful, and she felt her eyes closing of their own accord. As they closed completely, she forced them open again, except now she wasnt sitting in front of a water fall, she was sitting in the middle of a field of black grass, with a pure white sky above.

This wasnt the pure black space that she had expected from the stories that she had heard, but it was similar. Supposedly this place represented the inner recesses of her own mind. It looked like there was a lot more dark in her subconscious than she'd known. She turned around to see a dark figure approaching, her height and shape, some sort of shadow copy of her. It smiled and motioned with it's hand as four doors appeared behind it, grey instead of the pure black and white contrast of the sky and grass.

So far everything was going just like she had heard, except much, much creepier than she had expected. She stepped forwards, through the tall black grass and through the first door, wondering what sort of terrible thing would await her on the other side. According to the stories it would be personalized, and generally traumatic in some way. Her hand fell to the pommel of her rapier as she pushed the door open and stepped into the black void inside.

Scarlets eyes widened as she saw Vyce, no, Erin, appear in front of her in this void, tears rushing down her face. "Why did you leave me Manta?" She screamed out, rushing at her, clawing with her fingernails. Scarlet quickly unsheathed her rapier and activated Accel Stub, stabbing the ghostly apparition three times until it burst into smoke. She blink and she was standing back in front of the doors and her shadow self, who was grinning more widely than before, if that was even possible.

There was nothing to it other than to continue on. That last one had been creepy and frightening, to be sure, but she wanted to get out of here as quickly as possible and get those skill points. She walked forwards slowly to the second door, pushing it open and looking in on the void contained inside. She wondered what would show up this time, that she would have to stab.

Scarlet stepped into the dark void, her rapier already unsheathed and held ready. The shifting shadows swirled around to form a tall, broad shouldered man with a gigantic sword. Dom. She rushed forwards and thrust her sword into the shadow Dom five times, destroying it. She supposed in a symbolic sense she this was her letting go of Dom's death.

Scarlet blinked again and she was back in front of the doors, the previous two now crumbled stone wreckage. She wasnt sure this was healthy, going through her mind and destroying parts. Probably not the best idea, but she was just doing what the quest had said. She glanced over at her shadow self before quickly glancing back away, to the third door. Third time's the charm.

Scarlet was very creeped out and nervous about this whole thing, so she tentatively entered the third door. Just like before the shadows in the void shifted and swirled around to forma shadow copy of Zelrius. She didn't hesitate, sprinting forward to stab into him five times. She had already come to the conclusion that he had never realy loved her and had only been leading her on. She blinked again and stood outside of the fourth door.

She sighed. The last one. She wasnt an idiot, so she could guess that she would probably end up fighting herself in some form or another. She stepped forward and placed her hand on the door, gently starting to push. The door slowly started to open, and she could already tell that something was very different about this. She shoved the door hard enough that it opened the rest of the way on it's own. Behind the door wasnt a void, but the same black grass and white sky. She stepped through and glanced back to see her shadows self approaching, it's darkened rapier drawn.

Scarlet frowned at the shadow version of herself. The final boss. She aimed her rapier and activated Over Radiation, dancing and stabbing at the dark version of herself. Her blade hit the creature 14 times, killing it almost instantly. She had thought that this would be so much harder. She slowly opened her eyes and she was back at the waterfall, sitting on that stone. She could tell that her memories were back, but she didnt feel any different.

Well, now she had six extra skill points. She frowned, wondering what she should invest them in or if she should wait and save up for the Ferocity mod. Now that she had athletics, Ferocity was the last piece to her getting maximum damage. After that she couldnt go any further with damage... She wasnt sure what else to do once she got that. Would she go after modifications for her charge? Or start getting more mitigation?

Or she could start investing in Search and Detect, or the sneak skill... That sounded like a good idea. If she grandmastered the sneak skill she could get autohits and extra damage on her attacks. She sighes to herself, debating whether or not to invest these skill points right now or if she should wait and go ahead and get Ferocity before she started to try to get sneak and hide.

She stood up and waded out of the pool to the dry ground on the other side. her legs were pretty uncomfortable from being in that position for so long. She stood on the edge of the pool, continuing to debate with herself what to do next. She finally decided to wait on Ferocity. That was an easy fifteen skill points, whereas the autohit and extra point of damage from sneak was fifty or sixty skill points.

Her mind continued to drift, eventually coming back to Erin. She was free of the girl now, free to do whatever she wanted now. She could go join the player killers, or continue on like she had been before. But Vyce was a problem. She was so cute and tempting and would probably come right back to her if she asked. But she wasnt sure if she wanted that, at least not yet.

Speaking of which, the boss fight was coming up soon, at least the meeting for the next one. She would definitely be attending, both the meeting and the fight itself. The fight gave a ton of skill points, and as a DPS she had a very good chance to earn a unique for herself. As of now she had no uniques, skills or items. If she got a good unique that meant that she could increase her damage even more.

As a damage dealer thats what it was all about, increasing damage. And she was one of the best, probably the best excluding Lowenthal and Teayre, both of whom she rarely saw and barely knew. She did know that both of them had unique skills though. That was where the strength lay at, unique skills. She hadnt been able to find one yet though. It was probably best to just continue on the normal skill tree for now and worry about uniques later when she had a lead.

She turned around and started to walk away towards the main settlement of the floor. She needed to get ready for the boss fight, whether that meant crafting potions or grinding with some other players. In all likely hood she wasnt going to do any of that. She was feeling pretty lazy, and the boss fight would probably give her enough skill points to get ferocity without having to grind.

But then she also wanted to get sneak and hide as well, so she'd need skill points for that too. And the boss fights were really slow, so she wouldnt be able to get those sixty or so skill points that she wanted without doing stuff outside of boss fights. Plus, the bosses kept getting so harder, so she needed to keep getting stronger to be able to keep competing. Hikoru was coming up pretty fast on her with his damage dealing, probably just because he had better sword arts than her. She needed to stay stronger.
