Hakai 0 Posted August 29, 2016 #1 Share Posted August 29, 2016 (edited) Hakai wandered around on the sixth floor, dejectedly looking around and wondering exactly why she felt so bored at this exact moment. She was also wondering exactly why she was wandering about the jungle with no particular aim or goal in mind. She wanted to be strong but she hadnt made any real progress in quite some time. Maybe she hoped to find some magical item that would give her all of the SP that she wanted. Somehow she doubted that that would happen though. Kayaba wanted them to work for their strength, and he certainly wasnt about to give it to her for free. She frowned and glanced around. She didnt like the jungle, it was creepy and loud, and she really didnt know why she had chosen this place to wander. The noises of bugs and birds were already getting on her nerves and shed only been walking for a short while. Edited August 30, 2016 by Hakai
Hakai 0 Posted August 29, 2016 Author #2 Share Posted August 29, 2016 (edited) She had been wandering for quite a few minutes when she finally ran into an NPC, just standing on the side of the path, seemingly waiting for someone. She paused in front of him. He probably had some sort of quest for her. Within a few seconds the NPC opened it's mouth. "Would you be up for a friendly duel? If you win you'll get magnificent rewards, i promise." She raised an eyebrow. Was this one of those NPCs that gave uniques to people? If it was she certainly couldnt turn it down. "Sure." She stated, quickly switching out her demonic claws for her damage ones. She wanted reliability in this fight. This could be really really important. If she could get a unique from this she would be set. She doubted that would happen though. Hakai 0 Posted August 29, 2016 Author #3 Share Posted August 29, 2016 (edited) She raised her claws, just as the male NPC's form shimmered and shifted into an exact copy of her. She smirked. "I didnt notice how hot you looked before now." She said, still smirking. The NPC didn't reply, it's expression turning serious as it sprinted at her, raising an exact copy of her silver claws. She was loving this and they hadnt even started the fight yet. She'd always wondered how a fight with herself would turn out. She didnt care what the NPC thought, only one of them would be leaving this duel, and judging by the way the npc was fighting they felt the same way about her. She glanced around with a frown. There was just enough room for them to move and attack freely, just enough room for them to actually fight without trees getting in the way. She raised her claws, prepared to end this very very quickly. Hakai 0 Posted August 29, 2016 Author #4 Share Posted August 29, 2016 (edited) Her own expression shifted to one that was much wilder and more ferocious than serious. Other than facial expressions, the two of them looked identical, and their movements seemed to be exactly the same. She couldnt wait to beat this copycat into the ground. She swung her claws at the NPCs face, aiming to end the fight almost as soon as it began. Her opponent was just as nimble as herself however, and dodged the blow easily. In the same way when her opponent sliced at her she dodged just as easily, if not better. If they were truly evenly matched this would be a very long fight. They would just be dodging each others blows all day. She had no doubt in her mind that that wouldnt be the case. Computer generated enemies were always quite predictable, she just needed to take her time. Hakai 0 Posted August 29, 2016 Author #5 Share Posted August 29, 2016 (edited) ID# 66492 results: Battle: 3 Miss MOB: 1 Miss Hakai frowned. So it was going to be one of those fights. She raised her claws again, the silver metal glinting in the sunlight. A battle of atrition of sorts. Neither of them were tanks, but if this copycat was anything like herself they would be incredibly slippery and hard to hit. She swiped again, her blow missing by quite a bit. She easily ducked the enemies blow, rolling to avoid the claws before hopping back onto her feet and twirling around to face the NPC. This was already boring. She could read this enemy like the back of her hand. Or the back of their hand more like. She frowned and ducked another swipe. Too easy and theyd only just started. Granted, she hadnt been able to land a hit yet, so maybe she was getting played and the enemy was actually a ton better than her. Hakai 0 Posted August 29, 2016 Author #6 Share Posted August 29, 2016 (edited) ID# 66493 results: Battle: 2 MOB: 7 (-3)=4 Miss She sent another strike at the enemy, her blow easily being sidestepped. If any fight she had fought could be categorized as Wild Dance this would be it. Both of their movements were fluid and sharp. With neither of them hitting each other it was much more like a dance than it might have been otherwise. All the other weapons were clumsy in comparison, although many more were stronger. Wild dance was a weapon of elegance and instinct at the same time, and both of them appeared to be masters of it, although she was obviously the better of the two. She ducked and dodged the enemies blows, easily sidestepping swipes. It was only a matter of time before the enemy messed up big time and she was able to end this, hopefully with one move. She didnt usually use this particular weapon, so she wasnt sure if she would be able to beat them in one hit, but hse certainly hoped so. Hakai 0 Posted August 29, 2016 Author #7 Share Posted August 29, 2016 (edited) ID# 66494 results: MOB: 5 Miss Hakai didnt bother to attack , instead analyzing her opponents movements. She ducked under the next swiped of the claws, looking as though she were doing some strange form of the limbo, before popping back up and taking a step back. She just needed a few hits on them, she didnt even need criticals. She gripped her claws more tightly, the silver feeling unfamiliar in her grip as she usually used her demonic rather than these crude weapons. Her demonics were unreliable however, and she couldnt trust them in a fight where she might only have a few chances to land a hit. The fact of the matter was that these were actually perfect quality weapons, but next to her normal weapons they were really nothing. Well, nothing if she managed to get critical hits. It didnt really matter if she couldnt get criticals. Still, her demonic just had a feel to it that was nothing like these perfect quality ones. A computer generated foe could never match her. She ducked under the next swipe from her enemy and started to send clawed punches into the NPC's chest, the NPC's health quickly lowering to nothing thanks to the enhancements on the silver weapons. She smirked and unequipped her claws as the opponent disappeared and a quest reward screen popped up in front of her. She was dissapointed to see that all she got was an extra skill that she had seen some others with. It was better than nothing though. She equipped her demonic claws and sheathed them at her side, already bored again. Why had the NPC put up such a lousy fight? Now she would be stuck wandering around for the rest of the day. It wasnt a matter of reward, it was a matter of boredom. Hakai 0 Posted August 29, 2016 Author #9 Share Posted August 29, 2016 (edited) She hit the accept button and continued walking through the forest. Maybe she would come across another idiotic NPC who wanted to throw their programming away. She was hyped from the fight and wanted nothing better than to claw something else to pieces. Still, that was the first time that that had ever happened, and she doubted that it would happen again any time soon. She glanced around as she walked, the sounds of the jungle assaulting her ears. Shed already done a quest today, and by accident at that. Should she keep walking or do something else? She supposed that she could find out exactly what had happened to Manta, just to fill in the time. Besides that she couldnt really think of anything else to do. She could do some more quests, but there werent any that she could think of that she felt comfortable taking by herself. Edited August 29, 2016 by Hakai
Hakai 0 Posted August 29, 2016 Author #10 Share Posted August 29, 2016 (edited) The Monument of Life. She continued walking on the path back towards the main settlement of the sixth floor. She already knew where she was going. She supposed that she had better visit the monument and pay her respects to the people who had helped her get where she was now. Or had at least inspired or helped on the way. Well, pay her respects to those who were no longer with them. People like Scarlet and Ebony. She walked, depressed a bit. She wished her wife would come back to her. She was strong and kind, and Hakai was kind of lonely without her. She hadnt seen her other friends in quite a while either, and she really just wanted some personal interaction at this point. She'd been trying to train solo for quite a while now and she just didnt have the sort of motivation that she had before. Edited August 29, 2016 by Hakai
Hakai 0 Posted August 29, 2016 Author #11 Share Posted August 29, 2016 (edited) She entered the settlement and made her way to the teleport and made her way straight to the first floor. She walked along the streets on the first floor, heading for the monument. It wasnt long until she made her way to the imposing stone monument. There were so many names on the tablet, and she knew that it would take her quite a long time to find who she was looking for. Thousands and thousands of names were on the tablet. She started walking, skimming over the names with a bored expression on her face. She didnt quite understand why she was here. She could find the names, but all she would get was who had done the killing and the certainty of their actual deaths rather than just the rumors she had heard. And she had heard plent. She had heard stories of another red haired woman being jealous of Manta's hair, and others about just a random attack. Edited August 29, 2016 by Hakai
Hakai 0 Posted August 29, 2016 Author #12 Share Posted August 29, 2016 It took her quite a while to find the first name. She frowned, her eyes slowly going over the name. Ebony. She didnt know her personally, but she knew that Manta and her had been close, and that they had killed at the same time by the same person. Player Killed by Teayre. Hakai smirked. Teayre. What a funny and appropriate name. No doubt her actions had cause more than one tear to fall. She wondered as to the players reasons and also as to the origin of her name. Glass cannon builds were dangerous that way. Hakai doubted that Manta had even know she was in danger. Ebony however. She had quite a bit of mitigation. This Teayre woman was one to watch out for, if not blatantly avoid, even if she did owe her the tiniest bit. She didnt owe Manta anything now that she was dead, and she was able to keep the claws without any question. She continued down the rows. She knew what she would see when she came to Manta, but she wanted to check anyway. She just couldnt believe that someone so strong would go down like that.
Hakai 0 Posted August 29, 2016 Author #13 Share Posted August 29, 2016 Maybe she just hoped a bit too much. She didnt wish for the death of anyone, although she wasnt about to judge those who player killed. She was just of the opinion that the more people they had the easier it would be to get to the end of the game. She didnt really want to leave the game, but there were many others who were here against their will. That wasnt okay. She continued walking down the columns of names, noting the crossed out ones and wondering what mistake led to their deaths. There were quite a few. Still, she eventually found Manta's. It was crossed out as she had suspected, with the same note as had been on Ebony's. Now to find someone who had witnessed the pking and who also knew Manta well, just to end her own curiousity. Hakai 0 Posted August 29, 2016 Author #14 Share Posted August 29, 2016 (edited) After that she would have that sense of a conclusion, the end of an arc of sorts. Plus, she might be able to worm her way into the frontlines now that she had a good reason to talk to some of them. She frowned, running a finger along the crossed out name. How unfortunate. She had been stronger than most, and probably inspired many to help beat the game. It was sad really. That was just one more person that wouldnt be in the final boss battle, when they would need everyone that they could lay their hands on. She hoped that they would be able to muster enough people to beat that boss, although at the rate things were going she doubted it. Player deaths had slowed down quite a bit, but they were still on the decline. It wasnt like they could have kids, so everyone that they lost was for all intents and purposes, a loss, someone who could never be replaced. And the bosses kept getting harder, so she doubted that they would all of a sudden start getting easier. Edited August 29, 2016 by Hakai
Hakai 0 Posted August 29, 2016 Author #15 Share Posted August 29, 2016 She turned around dejectedly. Now that she had done this she had to find some top level players, but she knew that that wasnt going to happen easily. She would likely have to wait until the next boss meeting, as they were usually open to the lower level players. She wandered back towards the teleporter. It seemed like she was in for another hour or so of wandering, or wasting time. Maybe she would run into a randomly generated quest or something, but somehow she doubted that she would find anything meaningful to do. Maybe she would fight some mobs or gather some materials. She didnt know, she just knew that she was bored and needed something to do for the day. She stepped into the teleporter and headed to the second floor. She'd always enjoyed the flowers and raw nature of the second floor, so she might as well waste some time exploring it and possibly getting some materials. She really needed some new friends. Hakai 0 Posted August 30, 2016 Author #16 Share Posted August 30, 2016 There was no denying her own boredom. She really did need to get out there and make new friends and allies who could spice her life up. She needed new motivations and new confidants. She smiled thinking. It wouldnt be long before she was on the front lines, helping move them all forward. When she was on the frontlines she could really start to help them all move forward. Hopefully her damage over time effects would prove useful in the coming fights. Theyd failed her enough that she didnt have complete trust in them. Still, they were her thing, and she had the demonics that really made damage over time worth it. She couldnt imagine those who only had bleed. How could anyone center a build around that? She knew that she had enough trouble and she had a demonic to help her out.
Hakai 0 Posted August 30, 2016 Author #17 Share Posted August 30, 2016 That was likely the reason that she was the only one of her build. Still, with the updates that had come out a month earlier soon she would be the strongest damage dealer in the game, or so she hoped. It would be a long hard road, and she would need a lot of skill points and outside help, but she planned to be the best of the best. And it would only get better when she got her unique skill. She was certain that it would happen, she had no doubt in her mind. She wandered out of the settlement and into the wilds. She needed to waste time until the next boss fight meeting, where she could hopefully make some influential allies and possibly even be included in the next boss fight herself. She certainly needed to reach tier two first however. She needed quite a bit of SP to get there...
Hakai 0 Posted August 30, 2016 Author #18 Share Posted August 30, 2016 She glanced around the grassy hills filled with flowers and all sorts of other plantlife. For a moment she wondered if she should take a moment or to to gather some materials before she remembered that she hated the activity beyond almost anything else. Mat gathering was for noobs, she could always pay someone to gather materials for her. For now she was wasting time as she waited, mainly for a friend to contact her and ask her on a quest with them or something. That usually happened quite often, but lately she hadnt been hearing much from her friends, so she assumed that they were busy training, or maybe just doing all of the quests without her. That was always a possibility, although she sincerely doubted that that was actually the case.
Hakai 0 Posted August 30, 2016 Author #19 Share Posted August 30, 2016 She was on good terms with all of her friends. Now that she thought about it however, she really only had one friend, and that was Xion. Hikoru was an acquaintance, but she wasnt sure if she trusted him. He seemed a bit shady and on edge. She supposed that unique wielders just had a lot on their shoulders, so they were always on edge. They must have a ton of responsibility placed on them, especially with many of them still being teenagers. She really wanted to help out, and to do that best she needed to get one of those unique skills whatever the cost. Of course, she was only really interested in a few. She ran her hands along the handles of her demonics absentmindedly. She was strong., but still nowhere near strong enough to help out in the way that she wanted to. She needed levels and experience, and there was no way to get that but by grinding.
Hakai 0 Posted August 30, 2016 Author #20 Share Posted August 30, 2016 She wandered back towards the main settlement. She was done for now. She was bored and didnt really seem to be achieving anything whatsoever. Her expression was one of annoyance. She had done somethign today at least, but she wanted fast progress, she wanted to catch up to all of the other people. She didnt want to be better, she just wanted to be able to help everyone out rather than just hiding behind those who were stronger than her. Hikoru and Xion had carried her on that last quest, she hadnt done a single thing. That wouldnt happen again, not if she had anything to do with it. She would be strong for the next quest that they took together. It would only be a little while before she was in tier two equipment and could match XIon in combat.
