Relationships

-Mother (Jocelyn Koval) : Mason adores his mother. She was a kind woman who always treated him like the jewel of her life. She’ll give him little treats from her work, a doughnut shop, or tiny crafts that she’d made.

-Father (Graves Koval) : Mason loves his father. He was always there for Mason when he needed something, or wanted to go somewhere. He’d take him to school every day and to field trips.

Story Thus Far

Mason’s life did not start long ago, so his story is short.

It begins in England, where his parents had been living for their whole lives. Their parents came from America. Mason loved his parents; they were his guides, the North Stars of his world. He always treated them like they were the best things in his world; and in some ways, they were. Their jobs allowed him to life a comfortable life. He never wanted anything more than what he had. His parents did their job well in that sense. Mason was always grateful for everything they gave him and everything they did for him.

His friends at school were very nice to him. He was a small boy, but he was nice enough that nobody really picked on him for it. If someone did decide to bully Mason, he had lots of friends to stand up for him. He was kept out of reach of any violence or cruelty and so grew to be a passive person. He did okay in school, not being particularly good at anything. His time was spent focusing on his friends and parents.

For his birthday, his parents decided to get him a big present. He didn’t play video games a lot, but dabbled in them sometimes. Both of his parents wanted to get him a big gift and they figured SAO would be the perfect present for him. So they saved up money for him and then gave it to him on his birthday, which happened to be the day of the release of the game. He plugged into the game as soon as he opened it, excited to try out this new toy.

Virtues

Sincere : Mason couldn’t tell a lie to save his life. He thinks that lying is not fun, and only makes people not trust you. He’s not embarrassed about what he thinks. He also can’t come up with lies that are believable. When he was younger, Mason tried lying once and got in a lot of trouble from it. He doesn’t want that to happen again, so he doesn’t lie as much as he can. Lying also makes your friends not like you very much.

Companionly : Mason likes being around other people. His mom and dad always were with him, or his friends, or his cat. Other people like being around him too, he thinks. Mason will hang around you and talk to you whenever you want to talk and likes holding on to big people. His parents described him as a monkey.

Transparent : Every action that Mason makes has a very clear motive behind it. He has nothing to hide, and is very plain about what he wants. Mason will answer any question you ask about him. He only does things because they have a reason to be done. For example, if you needed a friend to talk to, Mason would tell you that’s what you needed and be there for you. In his mind, everything is easy and everything can be solved easy peasy.

Flaws

Weak : Mason is a small boy, about 4 feet 7 inches tall and 60 pounds. This means he isn’t very strong, but that’s okay. He doesn’t need to be buff. He has friends that watch out for him and make him feel safe. Him being kind makes it so he has never needed to be strong. He’ll never need to fight anyone, and fighting isn’t fun anyway.

Delicate : While Mason is weak, he is also delicate mentally. Because of him being so nice he doesn’t find anyone who is mean to him. He doesn’t have any defenses built up against people being rude or abrupt with him. He has a habit of crying if anything goes wrong and doesn’t like being sad, which just makes him even more sad when he does get sad.

Gullible : He will believe anything you tell him. Because he doesn’t lie to people, he expects nobody to lie to him. They all should think the same way he does. If it makes sense to him, it should make sense to anyone, right? As long as it makes sense, he’ll think it’s true. He also does not look for any ulterior motives when someone does something.
