[F4-Alchemist] Alchemic Remedy: OPEN

Recommended Posts

Alchemic Remedy is nestled in the hustle and bustle of the shopping district of the 4th floor. It's a quaint shop, simple decor, nothing over the top or overzealous. Upon entering you are greeted with a warm fire to your right, with a few large, black, cushioned armchairs sat directly in front of it; a wonderful reprise from the cold snowy weather of the 4th floor.  As you enter the black-snake-wrapped-justice-scale-tattooshop you notice a large banner with a feriocious snake wrapped around a sword. The sword has a scale on either side of it. You're not sure what the symbol means, but it seems oddly out of place in such a gorgeous and homey shop. The store itself smells like spices, citrus, star anise, cinnamon - giving you the sense of a warm, home cooked meal.  To the left is a glass counter filled with a variety of potions. a Small sign sits on the top shelf 'Crystals TBA' For now.  The shop is cluttered with various odds and ends, as though the owner picked up things she deemed 'shiny' and kept them on display, for no other reason other than her own strange sense of interior design. Despite the clutter, the store is well kept, the floors swept and clean - and the store front free of spills, dust and grime.

There is a small door behind the counter, which leads to a crafting room, it's chained off so the general public don't accidentally wander in.

Esther had finally opened her shop, finally she thought to herself, as she wiped her brow. It'd taken almost two days but she had everything set up just the way she wanted it. Neat, tidy, warm and welcoming. She had a small area out back to do her crafting, away from the public eye- and a beautiful hearth.

Esther headed over to the fireplace, leaning down to light it. It exploded with a crackle and the woman smiled, hoping that any who enter would appreciate the fire just as much as she does. "Right!" Esther said, pulling her sleeves up and heading out into the back room.

It was time for her very first crafting attempts.

Esther sat down at the table, and pulled out the various ingredients she had collected. She recalled Oikawa telling her that the yellow flowers weren't very good for crafting, but she had a number of them. "Hmm....now how did Mari...." She turned on the bunsen burner to low heat, and filled a beaker with 1/4 cup of water. She chopped up the flowers, and threw them in - the water quickly began to turn yellow, she stirred it. "Hmm..." She threw in another material - one she thought was a clump of amber, but the smell - "Ahh...Honey....?"  Before long, the solution cooled, and a notification popped up saying she was successful.

Esther held it up, looking at the contents. it was yellow, the same yellow as daffodils. "Aww.." She read the effects, and suddenly felt very proud of herself. "This should come in handy in the future!" She mused.

Next up...the blue flowers she had collected. Esther wanted to start small, and work her way up to the safeguard potion that Lycan suggested. If she tried mixing and matching ingredients to start off with, she'd eventually get to a point where she wouldn't need to worry about trial and error. She hoped that she could be a great Alchemist, like Mari, and like Lycan. She followed the same recipie as she did for the first potion, substituting the yellow flowers for the blue - minus the hunk of honey.

This was another success, although not quite as good as the first one.

Name:: Warm Memory
Quality: Good
Description: A small vial of sot blue potion that smells like flowers when you open it. It tastes bland.
Effect: Creates a feeling of satisfaction and warmth as you recall a memory that makes you happy

Esther stood, feeling satisfied, she picked up the two vials and went into the front room, placing them on display in the counter.

"Not that anyone would probably buy these, but still...I'm proud."

Attempt #1  ID:68368  CD: 9 = Good Item
Attempt #2  ID: 68369  CD: 1 = Fail

It was time for a day of Crafting, but - instead of just Esther. Two people walked into her store. First, a tall blonde with striking blue eyes and casual dark clothes. One hand was shoved in his pocket, the other hung over his shoulder, tugging on a chain. Attached to the chain, was Esther. "Come pet. I'm going to teach you how to made potions for us."

Esther smiled, clasping her hands together. The thought of helping him, of helping her master - it filled the pit of her stomach with an indescribable feeling. "Y-yes!" Addel lead her to the back room. "Mm, cute. Small. Simple." He commented, choosing to sit down on the chair. Addel signalled for Esther to sit in his lap. "Since you've been good pet; I will allow you to sit in my lap, instead of the floor." At his words Esther smiled, quickly clambering onto his lap. She turned to nuzzle him but he pushed her away. "No, Esther. First you need to craft. Here." He handed her a small stamp, imprinted with the Black Adder insignia.

"Any potion you make for us, you stamp with this. Understand?"

Esther picked it up, and inspected it, she tested it out on a sheet of paper. "Of course, Master."

"Ok, now Pet - I want you to make a potion called 'Heated Senses' It's the same one I used on you. When we first met." Addel explained to Esther how to make it, and she repeated, following his instructions carefully. Chopping up red flowers, spices, cherries, a sickly coloured sap all into a burning beaker. She mixed it all together, and it was complete.

Name: Heated Senses
Quality: Good
Description: Smells and looks like cherries, how sweet!-stamped with the Black Adder stamp -
Effect: Upon drinking this you feel incredibly overheated - you feel the need to cool down quickly. All your physical senses are heightened.

"Good...." Addel patted Esther on the head, "You're such a good pet." He tugged at the chain, causing Esther to look up at him with a dulled, listless gaze. "Now...I need you to make something else for me. I want you to make a poison for someone. Addel wrapped one arm around her waist, the other creeped up to her neck. Forcing her to lean back against his chest so he could whisper in her ear. "Make your master a poison for Lycan, make him suffer, torment him - " Addel licked his lips. "Then, when it's all too much...wouldn't it be fun to watch him end his own suffering?"

Esther's dull gaze shifted from Addel to her crafting table. "If that is what my Master desires..." she started crafting, but as she worked - her hands began to shake. Her chest ached, she struggled to complete it, and the concoction boiled over. Burning the ingredients. Esther blinked. Confused at what had happened. She lifted her hands as if to inspect them, frowning. "I failed..."

Addel seemed annoyed. Noticing that even whilst under the effects of Dekkars potion, she still wasn't able to do exactly what he wanted. It also seemed Esther wasn't aware that this is what happened, and genuinely thought it was an error on her part. "We will try again tomorrow. When you're deeper under my spell." Addel pressed hips lips to her bare shoulder. "I will reward you later, my pet." Esther fidgeted. Mewling softly at his touch.

Attempt #2  ID: 68433 CD: 10 = Uncommon

Addel had once again, accompanied Esther into the store. He paused, placing a large sign in the glass of her window - once again, it was the Black Adder insignia. This, did a number of things. One: It told everyone that this store, belonged to - and was a part of the Black Adder Guild. Two; it protected the store from other members of the guild, and three...it served as a warning. That this girl, was the property of the guild.

Addel turned on his heel, tugging Esther along behind him. Just like the day before. Addel sat down on the chair, and pulled Esther into his lap. His hands wrapped around her waist and tightly squeezed. "Put your disgusting fingers to good use, and make me some paralyse water. Two lots."

Esther gave a small eep, blushing as Addel tightened his grip around her lithe flimsy dressed waist. "Y-yes. Of course."

Esther pulled out a few deathcap mushrooms, and finely minced them up, her face flushed. Hands shaky - it was proving difficult to concentrate with Addel's wandering hands. Still. Esther didn't complain. She'd do just as he wished. She wanted nothing more than to serve him, and to please him. Her mind awash with thoughts of him, and nothing else.  Esther finished mincing the death cap mushrooms and threw them into a boiling beaker of water. She continued to stir till they evaporated. It was a very simple recipe. She poured the solution into two separate vials. Carefully labelling them with neat handwriting. Then, she stamped them with the Black Adder stamp.

"Good Girl." Addel crooned, pressing his lips to her neck. "Very good girl."

The journey to Floor 4 is uneventful, and the only reason for such a long stroll is due to a bulletin board that advertises a new alchemist shop owned by Esther, the girl I just sent a private message to in the Starting City regarding my claymore. As she is a pacifist, she declined my offer, and I did not push further, for I understand her respond quite well.

Somehow, I manage to reach the city and sprint forwards around the area until I found the shop. This alchemic shop seems promising, I think to myself. I step right into the building as I hope for healing potions.

The warm fire is really relaxing, probably even more comfortable than the furnace of my armory. I browse the menu and find myself a little sad that I come all the way hear only to find nothing but stimulants and paralyze waters. Regardless, I still choose to stay here a little longer, as the paralyze waters greatly confuse me with its description.

An excerpt of the effect description says as such: "Paralyzes the user." Does she deliberately mean the drinker...or the enemy? Even a better question. Is the water a drinking potion or a splash potion?

I look around for Esther, but for some reason, she doesn't seem to be here.

cKQnrow.jpg?1The door to the store jingled, signalling a customer. Esther was still in the back room, cleaning the table she used to craft her items. She sat in Addel, her masters lap. Her eyes still glazed- as she was clearly under the effects of the Black Adder mind control potion.

"Pet, that was a customer. Don't you think we should go see who it is?" Addel didn't wait for her to answer. He unceremoniously pushed her off his lap. She fell to the floor with a  -THUD- that could be heard from the front room. Esther didn't seem to mind being pushed off him, she  didn't even seem to mind as Addel headed toward the front room, tugging hard on the thick chain that hung from her neck.

Addel peeked into the front room, seeing a young man with brown hair and blue armor. He offered the man a smile and a wave, although it was clear he had ulterior intentions. Addel had a snakelike face, his eyes narrowed. "Hello there. Don't worry." He tugged hard on the chain behind him till Esther appeared. "This shop is under the control of Black Adder." Addel pointed to the snake symbol in the window. "So we can assure you, we have quality items here. Isn't that right pet?"

Esther appeared behind Addel, and slid behind the counter. She looked up at Gotz with glassy, half lidded eyes and offered a small smile.

"Hello Sir. Welcome to Alchemic Remedy, is there anything I can help you with today?"

...this Addler fellow looks rather fishy...something tells me that Addler is using Esther as his pet, judging by the chain and her expression. Immediately I feel disgusted deep within my vessel, for slavery, unless consent, is nothing but simply f**king inhumane. People like that should have their heads impaled on my sticks...

I try to brush off my violent thoughts as I smile back at Addler. "Yes, erm about the paralyze water. Is it a splash potion or a drinking potion? The description says "Paralyzes the user" so I am confused here, heheh."

cKQnrow.jpg?1Addel stood behind Esther, leaning his back against the wall. He ignored Gotz, his eyes turning away from the player as he was addressed with the question. It wasn't his problem. Esther was the one who technically 'owned' the shop. He was just in control of her assets, her materials, and her crafts. He controlled what went in, and out of the store. Addel just twirled the end of the chain around absently in his fingers. Awaiting Esther to finish.

Esther bent down to pull the vial out of the counter. "Ah. I apologise." She twirled it around in her fingers. Inspecting the tiny vial, stamped with the Black Adder logo. "I'm very new to Alchemy you see, so my descriptions may be a little off." she laughed softly, offering Gotz a warm smile. "Now that I re-read it, it does sound confusing. I'll have to fix that up in the future." She placed the vial down on the counter.

"This is a paralysis potion, it is administrated...orally." She pointed to her glossed, pouty lips as she said this, unconsciously licking her lips a she spoke.  "It paralyses whoever drinks it for a few minutes. (1 post/turn) It has no flavor and no scent. So it's most useful when mixed with a beverage, or food." Esther bowed her head slightly, "I am so sorry for the confusion. Will that be all today?"

Addel tugged at the chain, hard, causing Esther to be pulled back. She blinked, realising what she had forgotten. "Oh...We also do custom orders. I am currently a rank 1 Alchemist, but am limited. However, if you have any custom orders, please keep us in mind."

Custom orders...that sounds like a good idea. If she can make healing potions, that would be nice...

"How much for a custom order?" I ask Esther while keeping a secret eye on Addler, whom I am cautious off, my holstered black sword quietly on my palm in case I want to butcher him. I can kind of tell that she is under the influence of some sort of substance and, yes. I am really trying. Trying to control my fustration as on the outside, I am still neutral. Happy neutral, to be exact.

"If the price is affordable...I will have two or three healing potions...and also..what will the estimated date of completion be?"

cKQnrow.jpg?1Addel glanced back at Gotz. The kid had his hand on his weapon. Addel snorted. Didn't the kid know that fighting wasn't allowed in a safe zone? That shops were a place of safety for all? He seemed like the type that was easy to anger. Addel pushed himself up off the wall and headed over to Esther. He rested his chin on her head and wrapped his arms loosely over her shoulders. Esther stopped talking and moving, but Addel urged her to continue. "Go on, Pet. Continue."

Esther nodded, turning her dull eyes back to Gotz, she grinned. "Custom orders are the same as regular orders, I don't want to charge my customers more for the same thing. Unless it becomes overly complicated." She paused, and started explaining the prices that were listed in her store. "Uncommon items are set at 100 Col, Rare at 200, and finally - Perfect at 300 Col. Each quality heals a greater portion of health. I am currently unable to craft any more today. However, if you return tomorrow, I should have some form of healing potion ready. Would you like to place an-" She was interrupted.

Addel had tugged on her chain again, forcing her to her knees. "Kneel. Pet." Esther did as she was told, Addel leaned on the counter. Mischievous eyes on Gotz. "So, you heard the lady. Ya gonna place an order?"

This guy...I swear to Aincrad...I walk up to him and lean my face close to his menacingly.

"Shut the f**k up, snake boy. She is talking to me, no interruptions. I would have done the same if she were you, providing that she has the same persona as you."

I turn my head to look at poor Esther...if only I could break her bonds from that assh**le...

"I would like to place my order for four uncommon healing potions. Thank you...I will return tomorrow. And you.."

I glare at Addel again in his eyes. Damn...even if he is a jerk...he looks attractive..sort of like a snakegirl...ooh

"I want you to not abuse her during the process, understand? Dont mess with her recipe and her well being unless you want:

A. Your f**king head in a plastic bag or...

B. My prick up your ass because I am a bisexual tank and you happen to look like my local belly dancer in Japan.

I am a straightforward person and I dont care if any of my words offends you. Do you understand, you reptilian scumbag?"

cKQnrow.jpg?1"Kid. You are not in any position to make demands, or threats. I'm her master, and will do with her. As I please. Isn't that right, Pet?" Esther looked up at Addel, then at Gotz. She furrowed her brow at the sudden outburst. "That's right. I don't appreciate you using that tone with my Master. I'm happy in my position."

Addel's grin grew wider. "Look at you, tryin' to be all ferocious. What are you." Addel's eyes glanced up and down the other user. "Level 3? Before you could even blink, I'd have you writhing on the floor, of course. I wouldn't do that. I'm not one for idle threats. I'm not one to dirty my hands. If I did, I'd have to have my kitten lick them clean. Let me get a few things clear for you."

Addel held out his hand, raising each finger with each point he made. "One, you can't put my head in a bag, we're in a game, a game that doesn't have the mechanics for that. Two: Don't you feel  it a little insulting to bisexual people to use your orientation as a threat? Three; your words aren't insulting. They're pathetic. Four: She will contact you, when she has finished your order."

Addel gave one final grin, giving Gotz a wave. "Have a nice day, and do  come back to Alchemic Remedy."

The most shocking relevation to me is the fact that Esther is actually comfortable with this, which makes her a consent type. And again, if a slave and master relationship is consent, then it shouldn't be something I can poke my head in.

It was Addler's manners and Esther's constant, 'worried' reaction that cause me to become outraged, and suddenly, within myself, I feel very humiliated in front of the alchemist. However, just to remain what everyone would dub a badass, I adjust my sword belt and glare at his eyes one last time.

"Tch...you are so damn lucky that she finally reveals her consent state at the last second, though I doubt it lasts long. When I come back, I only want to see her, even if the chains are visible. Keep that in mind reptilian..."

I lean in his ear and whisper: "I have a damn tower shield for being a low level scum. Your argument is invalid."

As I walk away from the store, I blankly stare at the darkening sky as rain starts to pour. The stroll back to Floor 1 is rather depressing...and mad.

When was the last time I was ever hostile to a living, sentient being..? Admittedly, it is a shame that my first meeting with an Aincrad inhabitant turned to s**t due to a misunderstanding that I regretabbly judge quickly.

...someone else have to do the fetching job for me tomorrow...

Attempt #2  ID:68536  CD:11 =Rare

Another day, another series of crafts, the two sat in their usual positions. Addel on the chair, mischeviously fondling Esther - and Esther sitting in his lap, attempting to complete her crafts for the day.

"One day Esther....you will be my personal Alchemist. I'll teach you to make so many potions. Who knows...maybe one day you'll be as good as Dekkar. Here." Addel pointed to the piles of ingredients she had. Death Cap Mushrooms, the bark of spiked tree, and some Night Howlers. He guided Esther through the steps, watching intently as she tried to cut, grind, and blend the ingredients. She was successful in making a potion, 'Follow Me' but it wasn't up to scratch. Esther would need far more practise.

"That player....wanted 4 uncommon healing potions, but surely - having one  rare potion would prove...better, right Master?"  Addel shrugged at Esthers question, "He seems too stupid to make that connection. If he pays us. I don't give a damn." Addel was busy inspecting Esthers handiwork. It was a piss poor attempt at a potion, she'd have a lot of work to do if she were to be up to the Black Adder Calibre.

Esther nodded, standing with the Healing Potionand 'Follow Me'. She silently left the crafting room and placed each potion neatly in the display case within her store. As she did, a small message popped up <<Alchemist Rank II>>  Esther didn't think too much of it, and with a wave of her hand, swiped the menu away.

Tonight, I venture across Floor 4 and enter the shop once more, expecting four uncommon healing potions. My face is still full of bloodstains from my previous, brutal fights, and the blood forms around my face in such as way that it looks like a bizarre, messy facial mask. Only my vacant eyes remain visible. This time, I do not see neither Esther nor her master, but I care not for them, for I am in a silent, blank mood, especially after my near-death experience with the thief. My chest still hurts from the wound I receive from his glass dagger, but gradually the pain dies down.

Staring at the counter like a dead person, I notice a lone, red healing potion standing on the counter. It is labeled as Rare...weird...oh wait...

I'm guessing that she doesn't have the required materials to make four potions, but at least a rare one will do for me. Walking towards the potion, I grab the bottle as I place 200 COL onto the counter, staring at the liquid closely...

....I love the way it dances in the glass vial..

Paid 200 COL for Rare Healing Potion
