[SP-F5] Prosaic Travels <<The Traveler>> (Complete)

Recommended Posts

He was out in the desert to look for the being that was coming for him, the one to approach him and to give him his task. According to the quest board, she should arrive while he was out of the safe zone and out in the open alone. This was dangerous, the strong winds around him blowing with a mighty rage. However, it did not do as much damage as he had expected it to do back in the past. This being said, he still needed to be careful, it was stupid to get cocky because of a few seconds. As he looked around, he would end up seeing the figure out in the distance, it was a shadow among the flying sand. The weather was nasty for sure, he was not sure how anyone can survive. Since it did not seem to be getting closer to him, he would have to get closer to it. Just in case though, he would hold his spear close up to his chest, just in case it might have been a monster. What? It was a lot more common of a situation than many thought. However, he soon realized that he was fortunate enough to not have that be the case.

The winds seemed to be tame as he approached, perhaps the lady found a safe location. As he arrived, he would notice that she had a tent set up, which would explain how she was able to survive in the middle of all of this chaos. Before he would speak to her, a sudden HUD would appear in front of him. Time to read it. "Hello player. I seek your assistance. See, I seem to have fallen a little bit ill and need a couple days to recover. The problem is, I need to get my cargo that I have hidden out in the sand. If you help me find it, I would gladly appreciate it." With that, she would cough a bit, showing that her vitality was low. Not much in the business world, but he figured that he had the time. Perhaps she might evolve into some mysterious fairy and grant him a wish or something. All the great television shows seemed to do it back in the past, why can't this one be any different? So he accepted it.

So he would place his hands up over his head, arms crossed as a few more specks of sand tried to get into his eyes, but to no succession at the end. With this, he would continue to pace out of the tent and into the desert once again. Seems like he was going to have to survive both the desert and any enemies that came in his way. Then again, with the weather so nasty, he had his doubts that anything would even try to harm him. If anything, what he needed to worry about most was how he could even find the cargo. There must be some form of lead that he could use to get started. Some marker on the ground would be gladly appreciated. In the meantime, he would push forward through the sand to see what he could find. If he were lucky, he'd make it to the end of the desert and be given some time to think about it. But somehow, he had his doubts on that. How unfortunate.

As he paced through the sand, the winds would take a sudden violent shift in power, causing him to lock his feet into the not so certain sand below his soles. Crossing his arms as if to block a punch to the face, he would clench his teeth from how sharply the sand was being pushed towards him. It was violent for sure, but he was able to block the incoming damage from harming him. After a while, the winds began to cool down and return back to what the floor considered to be normal. Nearly survived that one, but according to his health bar, not a single bit of damage had been taken from that encounter. It did push him a bit off track, but as long as he was alive and kicking, he should be just fine. With this, he would look down to the ground to notice something. Reflecting in the sun was a bit of glass. Unless the sun was that hot... There must have been something that was left in there from a human, possibly the NPC.

Before being given the chance to look further into it, he would end up facing another set of heavy winds to deal with, forcing him back a little in the process. But this time, he fell over from the amount of force. Yet despite giving way to the winds, he had yet to take damage. Neither fall nor sand damage, though it certainly did hurt. The game did not need to know that though. As long as his health bar was not being messed with, he did not mind falling over a hundred times. Placing his palms against the sand, he would force as much energy as he could to push himself back up onto his feet. But this time though, the glass piece that he had seen was now no longer in sight. The evidence was gone, and he was back to square one. This was not going to be easy. But he was prepared to look around for hours if he needed to, since that was what the quest told him to be ready for in the first place.

The hours would pass by as the sun would be slowly moving down. He needed to continue and stay up, which was easy since he had plenty of caffeine before he went out to get to it. However, after the quest, he was going to crash at the inn and sleep for probably the full 24 hours. Was it time to try to continue looking for clues. Or did he need to look for a way to sleep in the desert for the night. Nah, that was a bad idea, he did not have anything that would help him. No tent in his inventory, and no house to teleport back to either. Placing his palms in his pockets, he would end up looking over towards the front to see that the sand was calming down from the previous moments that he went at before. With this, hew knew that he had enough time to look around for the cargo again. So he would end up searching once again for any more glass or item trails.

It was the end of the day, the nighttime was around. The darkness made things hard for him to do this. It was not quite time for the moon to come out, but it was pretty close however. Looking around, he would notice that the sun was able to reflect on things a lot better. That was exactly what he needed! So he would move around, running quickly to see if anything shiny like the glass he saw earlier would reflect on the powerful light. After searching around for a little bit, he would finally find what he needed to get the task started, a huge pieces of broken glass. The NPC must have left it, she was the only one who was willing to travel in these conditions, which is probably why she was even sick in the first place. A nearby set of cargo must be around, not it was all in the matter of even bothering to search for it. Maybe there was a path... And until he saw another one, he felt it was safest to not move.

The sun was just about to go down, and he was still hanging on as he would begin to travel through the night, full of energy. his violet eyes would even begin to glow in the dark where there was a lack of sunlight or moonlight. Placing the shard up, he would look around to see if any other glass pieces would react. What he would get in turn was a few bits of sand in his eyes before closing them, covering his face from the incoming winds as they would come back to once again annoy him. This quest was a lot more annoying than he had expected. All for the good reward at the end though, and so he would continue to press on with a smile on his face. With this, he would then place his palms down when the attack with the winds have been pulled down. No more of that now. Looking to the side, he would then notice something else on the ground... He needed to investigate it, it did not blend at all.

So he would pace through all of the sand that he could before making it over to see the object that was on the ground. Sadly, because he did not quite have night vision, he would end up stepping on that glass on the ground with one of his boots. However, when he did it, he would look back down to see it again. But this time, a small trail of glass was being made as well. If this is the case, Sey found exactly what he needed to get the job done. So with that, he would begin to follow the glass, only to be stopped by another wave of sand. By this point in time, he was more the well prepared to brace for the sand attacks, placing his arms up to defend from the attacks that the weather had to provide. Once that was done, he would end up placing the glasses in his pocket and continue to move forward, following the path that had been laid out for him to follow.

The night was here, not a single bit of the sun was left for him to enjoy of have reflect off of the glass in his pockets. So he needed to come up with an alternative plan, getting the trail... In the morning. For now, he needed to survive without going to sleep. The winds were not going to let him sleep, and if a player killer wanted to rip him open from the inside out while he was asleep, they would get the first strike on him. And sometimes, the first strike is all they need in order to put an end to a battle, eventually killing him. His level is nowhere near high yet, and no one can deny that at all. So he needed to be alert, so he could lower the chances of death. Besides, if it's not a player killer, it would be the weather that ends up ripping him open for sleeping. Fortunately, he was not too tired, so he was willing to just stick around, though it would probably be a little bit boring.

What he liked however was that it was much cooler in the night. The heat was much worse while it was daytime, but at night, it was just a little bit warm. Nothing too hot like before where he was suffering from the heat. Placing his palms in his pockets, his right hand placed very carefully so the he did not cut himself and obtain the bleed effect that would reduce his health down. As it was, it was perfect, the sand attacks have yet to get to him yet. Of course, he can't gamble too far. Looking onto the ground, he would no longer see any light reflecting against it. This meant that he was not going to work too well in the night. Sey would sit down on the sand, covering his face as he held that position, and hope for the best as he would make his best attempt... At sleeping. Yes, he was going to take the risk, there was nothing else to do.

He actually did it though. If one was tired enough, or bored enough, they would end up falling asleep. Anyone or anything seemed innocent while they are in a nice resting state, where they were the most vulnerable. He had to adapt himself to getting sleep in the night. The most he could do was hope for the sand to not wake him up. Luckily enough for him... He actually had gotten what he had wished for. The winds did not rip through his skin or anything of the sort, meaning he had been given a chance to live and finish the mission on a fair term. Plus, he ended up getting sleep, which was against his plan, and it was not the best to be sleeping the way he did... But he ended up getting the rest he needed. A few stretches should get him back in top condition. So the night would pass with little distraction, and not once... In the desert... Did he wake up due to an unfortunate incident. This was also the first time he slept outside a safe zone.

With this, he would wake back up when the sun came out. It was a miracle... he actually made it through the night. He did not even feel any less than he did back in the past. Looking at his health bar... It was completely full. That was weird... But it was nothing to complain about. Well, he needed to continue, there were only two days, one day now that he got his sleep in. The sun was beating herd onto him, making beads of sweat roll down. Perhaps he forgot to bring a few pouches of water with him, which may or may not have made a huge difference. He must find the cargo, place it into his inventory, and get out quickly. The tent was not too far away anyways, he just needed to get out of there with the items. Did he not have a lead before that brought him to this point? Moving his body up, he would feel them, the shards of glass in his pocket. That was when he realized... He might have been stepping on the evidence.

Placing his palms against the ground, he would feel something rather lumpy below his being. It felt too odd to be sand, since it was much harder than the surface. Turning his body over, he'd notice a little bit of wood was stick out from the ground. A plank to be a little more specific, but it was clean. Normally in this weather, it would be ripped off. But this must have been a recently put piece of wood. On top of that, surrounding the wood were shards of glass, showing that this was where they ended up leading him. Now he needed to dig through the sand to see where it was located. Knowing that this would get his hands dirty, he would brush his body off and clean it off as if he were to be dusting it. Then he'd shove his hands onto the sand, scooping them up little bit little as he made little dents to the surface. With the constantly flowing wind and sand flying, this task served to be difficult.

They were progressively getting stronger and stronger, incoming damage was going to be taken if he stood around too long digging without protecting himself. So he would stop for the moment, clap his hands to get all of the sand of of them, then place his head down while holding his hands over it.This would prevent him from taking the severe damage from the winds, protecting him from the damage to come. These moments were random, but he was just about getting used to them by now. The only problem was that it seemed more like a distraction from the digging that he was trying to do. Covering up for a few more seconds, the winds and the sand would begin to calm down once again. When it did, he frantically went back to the sand to continue digging, wanting to get out as soon as possible. The weather was posing more and more of a threat the longer he stayed.

Finally, as he dug through the dirt, he would continue to get into the sand and find that there were boxes in the ground. A red flag was also there, but he can assume that it fell. Maybe this was supposed to be the signal to tell the lady that this was where it was, but it fell over and she could not find it anymore. With that, he was able to use the glass to find the cargo. Perfect! He would then place the cargo items into his inventory, making sure to have a couple spaces for all of them before looking over to the direction he came from, north. in orientation, he had been taught to always remember north and he would never get lost. He traveled south from where the lady was, meaning he must travel back north. It was just a stroke of luck that allowed him to get to the cargo, and instinct was often getting him in fortunate situations. Now he had his items, he needed to travel back and he'll be fine.

It was bound to happen anyways, a sudden strong wind would pierce into his health bar all of a sudden, nothing he coculd quite block either. This did steer him a little of course, but that was the only problem he seemed to face when he did that. With that out of the way, he would then place his arms above in order to block the sand from hitting him any further. Sadly, his health bar seemed to recognize this as damage and lowered just a little bit. He needed to get to the lady quickly, but he felt like the quest had been one already. Things like this won't bother him anymore if what everyone told him was correct. So going by that advice, he was going to make sure to finish this off and live happily knowing that he could be anywhere and not take damage from the weather. Placing his hands back down, the wind would no long be bothering him, now he could continue.

He would continue to dig his boots through the sand until he eventually came to his goal, the ending point. The tent was still set up, hopefully with the NPC lady inside of it. There was only one way to find out. The winds were still a threat, since there was enough distance to land a bit more damage onto him. At this point, he was about done. Once he got to her, there was no need to fear the weather anymore. And it would no longer hurt him. But seeing how the sand flew against his body, it was still being used as a weapon against him. However, it was not able to harm him, even when he did not cover up. It was not too violent anymore. With this, he would end up placing his palms to his side, not afraid to take anymore damage from the sand any further. It was too late, his health bar barely took damage the last time. It was far too late, unless another player found him through the desert with the intent to kill him.

Perhaps this was the end of the quest for sure, the winds were getting progressively easier and easier. It would nto be too long until he entered the tent where the woman would still be, this time resting and drinking what Sey would like to call tea. With this, he would then place the items from his inventory in front of her, showing he has her cargo. This was the end of the quest for now. The lady would open her eyes with amazement as she would examine the box, seeing it's condition and the things inside of the box. Placing his palms in his pockets, he would smile as she would then nod her head with approval. "Glad to be of assistance." Sey would reply to her in turn before then waving to her, ,and so he would then leave the tent. It was done, he would then leave the scene and begin to make his way back towards the Safe Zone of the fifth floor. This was a crucial investment.

New skill now active, he felt the winds calm down around him. It was as if there were any aura around him that protected him. Not a single speck of sand could touch his body when the next waves arrived in an attempt to inflict damage onto him. This was a very good day for him, not too much damage was taken from the quest, and he ended up reaping the beautiful skill reward placed next to it. With that out of the way, he would make it back home, smiling as his success was shown as he was able to make it back home safely. Was there anything left to do for the rest of the day since he already slept? Eh, not really. But now he knew that he was able to make it up if he kept on leveling up at the rate he did. The others were waiting for him, and climbing was only going to get harder. At least he knew what to do now, so there was hope yet. Time to go to the inn, he needed another night.
