[PP-F2] Issues with Height <<Earning A Living>> (Empty_Space and Sey)

LOG 01.1: Floor 1, Town of Beginnings

I found it strange that I was still on the first floor... however, not many people realized that I was almost 18, and many laughed in my face when I asked for help with anything... quest or not, and they just pointed me in the direction of the old church that was serving as a makeshift orphanage. I kindly refused the offers to take me there... and my timid nature prevented me from talking to most players, and I ended up talking mostly to NPC characters... so I figured that the quest <<Earning a Living would be fun to do, so I looked for any sign of the NPC that gave the quest, hoping to find them near the main shopping district, where many Blacksmiths, Tailors, Artisans, and Performers gathered to share their crafts and skills... I managed to find the NPC standing in a stall selling nearly anything that you could come across all over the shopping district... I eventually got the quest log, and I pressed the 'Tailor' profession, and they handed me a free sewing kit. I thanked the NPC, and I turned around and began walking towards the forest, dagger in hand in case I got attacked by something when I went in the woods. I walked towards the border of the town, and sat down looking at the sky, filled with Azure blue clouds and the white-yellow sun sandwiched between them. I looked at a few of the monsters roaming the plains, and I shivered inwardly... ' In any other MMORPG I wouldn't be so afraid... but seeing that many mobs... it fills me with dread...' I held out my hand, and touched the invisible barrier dividing safety and Danger.

"Then why not fill the hole of dread with a bit of hope?" A regular purple-eyed snow-haired teenage boy would ask the girl from behind, walking with a smile as he would often be at the borders. He did his best to protect and help the new players, because many other older players were able to help him as well. It was insane seeing how far up they could go in a short amount of time, though he seemed to be able to do that sort of thing in the same amount of time, so he should not be speaking. His Memorilia Armor and pocket watch were both equipped as well. "You fear the monsters? I can help you with that if you like. What are you aiming to go for right now? I won't let them kill you if you can work with me." Sey was about to go material hunting anyways, so why not help another player out in the process? In doing so, he would be able to strike two birds with a single stone, a common task for him.

"!!" I heard another voice, and I stood up, startled. "Eeep!" I turned to face the player, and it was a male, with snow white hair, and startlingly vivid red eyes. "... um... h-hello there..." I realized he had mentioned something about a fear of Monsters, and I shook my head, looking him in the eyes. "I'm rather sorry if you thought my fear of these monsters was of the crippling variety, but all it reminds me of are just the times when I was still to weak to even deal damage to any monsters in a game..." I looked up at him, realizing that he, like many of the other players, was towering at least a foot above my stature, so I immediately felt embarrassed and looked at my feet, knowing that I had likely confused him...

She was a nervous type, a trait that many children seem to share among each other. Little did he know of her actual age, and what exactly was supposed to help him understand how old she was? Admittedly, she was very well-spoken and used words that only those with literacy can use successfully, even more so without hesitation. "I don't think that would be too much of a problem. Many players face that probably at the lowest levels. It's in fact that hardest part of the game, being able to depart from there." It was like the zero quote he heard one time, it was his fathers lesson once again. Nothing great could be made if it never started at zero. It was the number of nothing, but it was the beginning of almost everything, guaranteed everything physically made. "But once you are able to get up off the ground, you are able to advance far. All you need if a little push, and an added sense of security of course."

"well said." The man seemed to understand that I was well-versed and able to talk like a college professor... a trait I had gotten from my brother... before he disappeared of course. I turned towards him, and scanned him with my eyes, looking for any information the game would give me on who he is, and what level he was...

I felt sure that he was genuine about being willing to help me, so I walked back to the border of the town, and faced him. " weaker players tend to crowd around those that are stronger... in this game, I feel just like them..." I looked up, " I had accepted <<Earning a Living>> earlier, and I was asking around town to see if any players would be willing to help me... and instead, I was pointed in the direction of the Church, where the Children, those that are the age of 12 or below, Reside."

"Oh? So how old are you then?" He'd ask with a puzzled facial expression, tilting his head to the side as he would await a response from it. She looked like such a child, it was painful to imagine her being so young. But there she was, making the claim that it was indeed not the case. Sure, she might live in a fantasy, but the diction she preferred to use was clearly showing that she could be telling the truth. "Say that you want to earn a living. What profession would you aim for? I'll gladly help you out, since I tend to find materials easily with the gathering skill. In the meantime, we'd have to find you some free land for you to put your shop in, preferably inside of the safe zone so you don't have to worry about dying." That was about as blunt as he could be with her, but a player needed to be told the truth. In this world, it was either to accept the facts, or dying by refusing the reality that they live in.

Loot: 13 (Fail)

"... I'm.... I'm 17..." I was almost completely speechless that someone had actually taken me seriously. My height plus my childish appearance and attitude made me look and act like a little kid, and no one took me seriously when I told them that I wasn't a little kid. I pulled up my inventory, and I got out the sewing kit and showed it to him. "The Profession I picked was Tailor... and I had planned to go into the forest to get the materials necessary for crafting... and I was nervous about going on my own to get them..." I walked out to a small bush with kitten-soft tendrils of cotton... that shattered the instant I tried to remove them from the bush... "............

She was 17... At this point in time, that might as well have been expected. This game held a lot of surprises much more shocking than that, but at this point he was just about used to the shock, and it did not even trigger anymore. "I've seen and heard weirder. If you're 17, unless I have proof to doubt you, I'll believe you. But to be fair, people will underestimate you because of that. And when they do, that is when you have the chance to attack. I like to think of that as a strength." With his hands placed behind his back, he would begin to walk around and see if there were any materials for him to come across and pick up. "Call me Sey by the way. Though one idiot friend I know tends to call me Snow, so I guess that works as well. As for going alone, I'll guard you for the session, I even have Gatherer. I don't really need materials as of right now, so I'll give you anything I find if you would like."

"... your name is ... Sey..?" I felt worried that he randomly picked that name... and whether or not he took any foreign language classes, as that word has two dictionary meanings that I knew of...

Spoiler

Turkish Definition: Thing or Object

English Definition: A cut of Beef

Other Definition: A type of Fish...

I sighed, knowing I shouldn't mention that to him... and I looked up at him. " My username is Empty_Space, but I would prefer being called Shiro, as the former is rather lengthy to need to say." In the real world, just like in the game, I was an Albino, so I had snow white hair and skin, but I had dyed it black every so often, and I also had burning red eyes to boot, so everyone tended to call me the dwarf snow white. It was one of the few jokes that I found that I thoroughly enjoyed... but In game, I kept only the hair and fair skin, my eyes now a bright green, and I planned to change my hair color to violet soon, to complete the signature appearance that most of my avatars seemed to share...  White, green, and Violet.. the colors of the guild I was a member of in so many other games... I flitted to another bush with more cotton, and I knelt down to try to gather any usable tendrils, and they once again rotted away in my cupped hands...

"Empty_Space, is there anything that comes from? I don't really want to be pessimistic, so I'll call you Shiro. It sounds bliss." It was his blunt opinion, but empty space did not sound like something someone with any form of esteem would name themselves. Plucking up some items from the ground, he would not yet convert them to cooking materials. They were not his to claim after all. "Looks like I found a few for you. Here, I think they should serve you well." And with that, he would hand all four to her. It was not too hard, he was glad to have the Hecta's Bliss coat on him. It left him a little bit more exposed to the enemies since this was the second floor. But he was able to heal damage, so mitigation being lost was not the biggest probably in the world.

I took the materials Sey had passed to me with a warm smile on my face. "I'm rather grateful for your help, Sey. I would have been stuck here for a few days at least trying to gather all of the materials..." Sey had decided to call me by my real name, but he had also asked a question about my Username tag. " I chose Empty_Space because of how "Empty" My life has been up to this point. I want to be able to have fun for once, even if it means playing Russian Roulette in a Death game with monsters that are Scarily accurate to their IRL counterparts."

"Sounds like a great way to look at things. Shiro sounds better anyways." The shallow player would explain, kicking up his right leg. It was probably better than Sey's, which was just about the laziest that naming could go. Empty... Er, Shiro had meaning when it came to her name. It was a depressing meaning, but it was still a meaning regardless. His own was literally an English word spelled backwards. Yes, that was how he named himself. No, no one seemed to really catch onto that fact. No, he probably won't be telling anyone, the Sey and Say puns were at their highest, he did not need to give them anything else to make a joke out of. "Seems like the game for some reason makes everyone's life better. Makes you wonder why we are all still fighting for the ending of the game if so many people just embraced the current life we have here. Such a shame in logic."

I sighed when the plant I had grasped (From the look of it, it resembled a type of Rose...) turned out to be rotted, and, just like the cotton, it vanished into a thousand polygons... I looked up at Sey at the mention of logic, and I let out a small laugh. "Logic Is something that seems to be rather... Lacking in society, and it's Lacking here too... But  what drives most to the very front lines of this world...? It's fear. If fear is what's driving someone... then why would they even try to thing about logical solutions to anything? Most of us, if not all of us, want to go back home eventually, but some of us threw away that fear of not making it, so they made the ultimate sacrifice, and gave their lives to beating the floors of Aincrad... A shame indeed."
