While Aincrad may be a hell of its own, bringing about the deaths of friends and foes alike to players of all types, it isn't something that Jackson is unfamiliar with. It wasn't always like that though, having been brought about by some heavy life choices at the time. Born and raised in rural Texas, there wasn't much of a promise to Jackson's future in a career. Both of his parents worked on a small, local farm that didn't outsource enough, barely paying the mortgage as it was. As for him, his years in school showed him some promise in baseball or football, but as everyone said, it just wasn't something worth putting all on the line. Chances were, that out here in the middle of nowhere, he would never get a scholarship to put him in a school where sports were of any concern. Hell, even as it was now, it wasn't like his grades were much of an impression since he often ditched. By the time he graduated, he had no luck getting a job anywhere. It wasn't simply due to his sub-par grades though, having been in a graduating class with an extremely high unemployment percentage.

A few of his friends moved out of state in hopes of obtaining jobs elsewhere, but quite a number of them joined different branches of the military to solidify a future. After all, it was a dog eat dog world and four years in service would get you a degree or entry job anywhere afterwards. Having been referred to a recruiter by one of his school buds, he took up enlistment into the Navy, serving as a comms specialist. It allowed him the perks of travel, saved cash, and meeting a lot of new comrades. However, it isn't all fun and games. Beyond the standards of drills, rules, and guidelines; it wasn't uncommon to hear about some friends had been KIA or moved on out of choice. Hell, even Jackson had considered it a few times himself and he had only been in for the first three years, but never had the courage to go through. Eventually, he heard about a game called <<SAO>> during his latest station in Japan that had been declared a national threat for encapturing people. Not having the ability to abandon his service for another two years, he figured this would be the next best thing. Soon after, he'd find himself in SAO, free of the absolute despair and heartbreaking tragedies that people in the real world were always capable of committing.

 

» Virtues:

Stonewall:
Jackson doesn't let the little things tear at his heart, knowing that a man of any strength can be brought down to nothing by it. No matter how hard a journey may be, no matter what sacrifices may have to be made to get there, and no matter how little the reward at the end - he knows that it was worth it. Right? Certainly, it must be. That's how he was trained and taught... However, this has also made it so that he is quite troublesome to get really close to. Sure, he doesn't mind becoming another player's friend or having some fun, but those that can really get deep down inside and see what's really going on is far and few between.

Charming:
Having lived the past few years choosing not to get too particularly close to people, he often leads a life that shows himself to be a little more charming than he really is. He tends to be rather confident in his actions and picks his words without much care, creating the fun and charismatic person that people have come to believe he is. Of course, his natural looks and swagger may play a role in this virtue, but facing the facts of the matter, this is something that he considers beyond his control.

Practical:
Having understood what the core foundation of running operations is like, it's more than certain to say that he's transferred these skills from the real world into the digital world. While sacrifices may be necessary to get a mission accomplished, there's a gray line that he falters on when it comes to hasty decisions. Dangerous activities shouldn't ever be taken unless under the coordination of a competent team and, if he has the say so, an understaffed and underprepped team is something that will never be given his approval.

 

» Flaws:

Fractured:
Of course, the devastating things of life can really leave a deep impact on Jackson. He's lost too many good men in the real worlds, both true friends and brothers in arms alike. It doesn't matter when it happens or how many is involved, it's enough to leave even the strongest of men broken. Jackson's sadly been broken many times, each time bringing him closer to what he believes is the brink of his sanity. Certainly, he's never enacted on any of his thoughts of rage or despair in those tough times, but it leaves him in twisted wonder at what would become of him if he ever did commit to such dreadful thoughts.

Stubborn:
Jackson understands the need for an authority and that the chain of command should be the standard of operations, but in his eyes, a lot of these players have little to no experience to anything that matters in the real world. This lack of concept that these players have outright frustrates him when they get tempered with him and he'll completely refuse to do something if it's not sensible or doesn't make sense to him. However, this same flaw goes the other way, pushing him close to the edge when somebody under his wing doesn't take orders.

Relaxed:
Stemming from his youth, the only thing that matters more than anything else to Jackson is being able to relax and let the worries of the mind escape to some far off place. Especially now, having dealt with some troublesome times, it isn't like he can forget or drink those problems away. They're very real and will haunt him forever so that closest he can get is to let his mind lose itself in the sea of imagination. Otherwise, he'll keep himself distracted if it's not hazardous to the mission by keeping up a chat with someone.. anyone.
