Out of the corner of his vision he could see that something was different about one of the boxes they passed by on their way deeper into the ruins. This one had a pale white light surrounding it and when he moved closer to inspect it with his weapon the blade didn’t pass through. It was real! He knew there would be actual treasure if he just looked hard enough.

“Mashiro, wait a second! This one is the real deal. My search skills might suck but my picking is pretty good so I can open it.” She nodded but kept on watch while he knelt down to look at the lock on it. If only he had a set of picking tools tools, then he’d probably have an easier time with opening it. Still for someone with four ranks and a mod specifically for this task he wasn’t worried about it.

Seul shrugged after looking over the lock a few times in his hands. It looked pretty sophisticated, but he knew of a method that had worked pretty well up till now. Using his fist he banged on the top of the chest in multiple spots and as a result the lock just ended up falling off to reveal the contents that lies inside. A little over a thousand col and two whole crafting materials. He was starting to think this was one of the most useless skills in the game…

He would just have to put that past him for now. From what he could tell they should have been getting close to the end of the ruins. This was the first of what sounded like many after all, so there clearing it was going to be a fairly easy task in his mind. Eventually they were met with the final door; above it the word ‘Gluttony’ was carved into the stone in big blocky text.

Their final challenge would exist beyond this barrier and once they finished looking over their stats it was time to face it. Seul would go first and pushed the heavy doors open, causing them to groan and shriek as the path inside was being cleared. The arena this time was a raised circular platform surrounded by a pool of more illusionary coins. In the center sat their target; a giant, nightmarish octopus like creature that sported a crown and a face only a mother could love. Health bars curved around the side of it's head and above it in black letters the name “Beelzebub” floated.

This thing was one of the more hideous creatures Seul had ever encountered. He was certain if looks could kill he would have been dead right there on the spot. Still he had to get over how ugly it was and instead focus on how he and Mashiro were going to kill it.

He reached up to grab the hilt of his sword and as he did one of the monster’s tentacles shot forward to attack them. They each dove to one side and while Seul almost lost his footing Mashiro was already hacking away at the appendage with her greatsword. She really was an amazing fighter, or at least more capable than he had been over the past few hours. He needed to step up his game if fhe was going to stand a chance of being even remotely useful in this fight.

Heaving his sword onto his shoulder the black-haired player ran at Beelzebub’s main body and activated the sword art Galaxy Destroyer. He cut into the monster’s virtual flesh, leaving behind a glowing red, pixelated wound in the moves wake. It didn’t take kindly to this though as it lashed out with one of its limbs to force the boy to retreat.
