[SP-F1] Accidental training

Gestahl's search for those in need, brave adventures in need of a second, was ultimately proving less than fruitful. And despite his earlier confidence, this aimless adventure of his had only left him feeling high and dry, alone. That is, until he came to the borders of the city he had found himself in.

A young man stood confused as he looked around the vast green of the land around him, and Gestahl sensed an opportunity to help. Throwing caution to the wind, he rushed out to meet the boy, excited to be able to potentially help someone in need. As Gestahl came closer to where the lad had been, he stopped, dead in his tracks. Not only had the boy disappeared, nowhere to be seen, but, as it quickly dawned on him, Gestahl himself had little idea of what to do out here. He stood there for a bit, embarrassed by the lack of thought on his part, He was quicly snappedout of his thoughts, however, by the sound of an angry snort him.

The boar clamped it's hooves, seemingly rearing up for an attack. Gestahl hastily surveyed his surroundings, looking for a way out of this fight. All he saw was roving green. The city he had come from was currently guarded by the boar in front of him. Said boar was rearing up for a strike, and Gestahl had to act fast. With nowhere to flee, he was left with two options:

1: Attempt to dodge the Boar's attack. (1-5)

2: Attempt to counter the Boar's strike. (6-10)

He had only his instincts to guide him.

Gestahl's sword arm twitched, and he immediately assumed the posture to activate a sword art as the boar hurtled towards him. The boar was uncoordinated, however, and a slight imbalance in it's movement caused it to shift dramatically with it's back facing forward. Gestahl, now fully in the motions of the move, slashed in a horizontal manner, his blade catching the boar directly on the back of the head, killing it instantly.

Gestahl stood stupefied for several seconds, amazed at this surprisingly benevolent gift of luck. This few seconds was all that was needed, however, as Gestahl once again heard the telltale snorting and hoof rearing of a boar. Unlike his previous encounter, however, Gestahl was given no time for a to attempt a counter-attack.

The boar dashed forward, leaving little time for Gestahl to even simply jump out of the way, nearly crushing his leg in forward motion. Picking himself up off the ground, Gestahl quickly assessed the situation he was in. He had no escape, as before, and there was no chance of another lucky strike, but this time he did have the initiative, as the boar had skidded to a halt in the dirt.. As he saw it, Gestahl had only three options of attack.

1: He could attempt to force himself into a more coordinated attack style, and try to follow the movements of a figment of his imagination. (1-6)

2: He could attempt what was coming to him naturally, and flail around in a desperate attempt to kill the boar. (7-8)

3: He could try to follow up on the events of his previous battle, and try to attack an assumed weak point on the back of the boar's head. (9-10)

His less than ideal instincts kicked in, and Gestahl prepared to make a mad dash towards the boar, ready to flail around like an idiot in desperate attempt to defeat the boar. And flail around he did, as he prepared the position for another sword art, aiming straight for the boar's nose.

But it seemed that the boar had come up with a very similar plan of attack, and they clashed clashed, sword to nose. Both parties were pushed back slightly by the blow, stunned by the impact. The boar was the first to shake off the revere, and prepared to once again charge in for the attack. Gestahl narrowly dodges the blow, nearly tripping in the process. This dance continues for some time, the two party's missing by miles and hairs, sometime clashing, but never landing a direct hit. The dance of the unskilled is soon interrupted however.

The boar, having given it's everything in this battle, finally collapses, dead, from an almost direct hit from his opponent. It's body collapses, and begins to fade away, taking with it a decent chunk of Gestahl's dignity. Not willing to let history once again repeat itself, Gestahl makes a dash for the Starting City.

He arrives back inside the walls of the city, annoyed and winded, but also with renewed vigor. Not only had he gotten some training, unintentional as it may have been, but he had also experienced first hand why he believed he was meant to assist others. He set of, once again in search of adventurers in need of help.
