[OP-F7] Recruiting for the Guild CLOSED

Recommended Posts

The seventh floor's main settlement was the cavernous indoor city of Nimbus. Illuminated by the soft glow of emerald crystals, the whole floor had a mystical feel to it that was difficult to put into words. It was here, at the peak of their current exploration of SAO, that Kane decided to do recruiting for his new guild.

Entering the tavern, one could not be blamed if they assumed they'd see the same sights that one saw in every bar in Aincrad; raucous singing, people laughing and drinking, fights breaking out and lovers making out, the occasional drink flying through the air. The biggest tavern in Nimbus, however, The Well, had a more sober tone. It wasn't as densely populated, as many had not leveled up enough to feel comfortable on the seventh floor yet. Those who were on this level were either strong fighters looking for a challenge, eager crafters looking for rare materials, or ambitious upstarts looking to quickly jump a few levels of their own. In any case, it was a perfect place for Kane to post his message, visible on the door to any who entered:

RECRUITING: Heroes for Hire

Forming a Guild whose main focus is to provide a mercenary service for the Players of Sword Art Online.

Members will be divided into two Orders:

>The Order of the Sword is for combat specialists. They will be the ones who are given contracts from the Guild as bodyguards, hired muscle, guides, front-liners, etc. They will follow their contract to the letter, and provide protection and power to clients of the Guild.

>The Order of the Shield is for artificers, blacksmiths, tailors, alchemists, and any who are crafting specialists. Their responsibility will be to provide quality equipment for the Guild's combat specialists, and give them the best chance possible of survival in their battles. They will routinely acquire materials in the field, and may be assigned an Order of the Sword bodyguard if the materials are in a dangerous place, to assist in keeping things running as smoothly as possible.

The goal of the Heroes for Hire Guild is to provide a structure for Players to be able to hire mercenaries for many different scenarios: Accepting a duel on a Player's behalf, escorting them through dangerous territory, adding extra firepower to a boss raid, enforcing debt collection, hunting dangerous criminals for the Army, etc.

If you join, you'll have access to benefits, and you'll follow a code of conduct:

>You'll have access to superior equipment as Guild crafters master their art.

>You'll have protection when gathering materials and traversing the Floors.

>Your name will become synonymous with efficiency, honor, and professionalism.

>You'll have a steady flow of missions that will give you an opportunity to earn Col.

>You are welcome to keep any additional monster drop items from your assignments.

>Somewhere on your person, you will openly wear the symbol of your order, unless stealth is necessary: a Sword or a Shield design, so that Players know you're part of the Guild.

> You will not kill another Player when there is any other option. As a rule, Heroes for Hire does not accept Orange Players as guild members. If a member kills in the field and turns Orange, they will undergo investigation before they are given any more assignments. The reputation of the Guild is of utmost importance. Of course, there are exceptions to every rule, and cases may be made to the Guild leaders.

>You will treat other Players with dignity and respect. Even if the job is unpleasant, or your client is being rude, you are a professional, and will act like one.

>Items and equipment will be assigned to members on a case-by-case basis by the Guild leaders. The more equipment that is made, the better you'll have to work with.

>Remember, this Guild is for profit, but we are also brothers and sisters. We will always be there for one of our own when they need us.

>Any disputes between guild-mates will be settled by a Guild leader. Remember who the real enemy is.

Apply Inside. Ask for Kane.

Hopefully, he'd be able to recruit some excellent Players and get his Guild off the ground.

Angel was resting in the tavern on Floor 7, tired after a long day of training against the high leveled enemies. He had slain only a few monsters but the XP and Col were worth it. He was building up a steady fortune on this kind of training. But he wasn't doing it for just himself, he was doing it for the players of SAO. He needed to get stronger in order to help them get through the game, and in return for him to get through this nightmare. In the Beta he wasn't focused on beating the game. In actuality, he wanted to build his legacy among the other players. He wanted them to remember his name so that everyone could know that they could count on him in a jam. He wanted to help people, nothing more and nothing less.

When the player entered the bar, he seemed determined and Angel wanted to know why. He watched as he took his seat and seemed to be waiting for someone. Angel shrugged and finished his drink, gathered his gear, and set out for home. But upon leaving, he saw that there was a notice on the door. After reading it over, Angel realized that the player was starting up a guild and that it was right up his alley. He instantly went back inside and found the player. "Hey, you the one looking for guild recruits?" he asked him.

"Hey, you the one looking for Guild recruits?"

Kane looked up from his glass of <>, looking for the source of the comment. Before him was a tall, strongly built player, a teen with short, spiky white hair. He had an earnest, likable look to him, and Kane put down his drink to acknowledge him. "I am indeed. The name's Kane." Kane's smile was genuine as he offered the young man a handshake, looking him over. Obviously he wasn't a "fresh off the first floor" newbie, but he still had his beginner's sword. So he was ambitious; this was good.

Angel smiled as he shook the player, Kane's, hand. He took a seat in front of the experienced looking player. He didn't have to say a word for Angel to know that this guy was hardcore. He was a big guy, only two inched taller than Angel himself, with an even bigger sword. The guy's outfit screamed warrior, the heavy metal covering his shoulders. Angel instantly respected the guy. He had a good heart, that much was clear.

"So what do we do now? An interview or a test?" He asked, half wondering if it was easy to get into this guild.

Kane offered the recruit - to - be a seat, looking him in the eye. "Well, I believe an interview would do the trick. First, we can start with your name. Then, why don't you tell me a little bit about your skill set, and why you want to join Heroes for Hire."

Max stretched and yawn as he opened his eyes, The beds on the higher floors are so much nicer then what the town of beginning has to offer Max slowly got out of the bed, If only i was strong enough to train on this floor, maybe I should put more effort into my trainingMax strerched one last time before leaving his room. The city of Nimbus always filled max with a feeling of awe, I wonder if there is more amaseing places like this on the higher floors Max started wandering the town, taking in the wonder as he passed The Well he noticed something on the door.

That wasn't there before I wonder if its a new quest. Max walked over to the door and began reading the message, "Hmmmm" I have come this far on my own but maybe a guild won't be such a bad idea

Max walked into the tavern and notice two players chating at a table, I'm guessing one of them is kane, i'll just take a seat Max walked up to one of the empty tables and sat down.

Angel smiled. "Well, for starters, I'm Angel. In the real world the name's Kyle." He started as he sat back in his chair. "I'm just trying to help people. I don't really expect anything in return for saving those who need the help but I won't turn a reward down if its offered. Maybe I get a new material or just a bunch of Col, it doesn't matter to me. I saw the flyer and figured I could make a decent Hero. I'd like to join the Order of the Sword. That way I can actually help people and get some good experience in as well. I haven't gotten a high enough smith level to be considered useful I suppose." He was about to finish but he remembered something. "Oh yeah, I feel I should tell you this now before you find out later. I'm a beta tester, or a "Beater" as people have come to call me. I understand that some people don't approve of my kind." He said while keeping his voice down, his eyes scanning the various players in the tavern. "I don't know if it makes a difference to you but I still would like to help however I can."

Trinoko entered into the inn. He had found out about the recruitment the same was as the others two, though he felt he had already been unofficially recruited he made sure to at least show his face out of ceremony if nothing else. He gave a wave to Kane as he moved past him and to the bar. He was happy to leave the task to him and simply order a drink. Non-alchoholic for now, they might need to celebrate later if things go well, after all. When his orange juice arrives he spins his seat and crosses his legs while enjoying the show.

Kane nodded thoughtfully, listening to Angel's story. He saw Maximillion enter the tavern and sit nearby, clearly waiting his turn. He acknowledged the newcomer with a wave, motioning him over. "If you're here about the Guild, come on over. I'm Kane." He turned back to Angel, replying to his previous statements.

"Honestly, we could use someone with that kind of foresight, and the will to help others. You'd make a great addition to the Order of the Sword, and I'm sure you're going to be a great Hero. I'll be honest, right now the only members so far are me and that guy at the bar over there." He pointed to Trinoko, who was relaxing with his fruity drink. "We need at least five people to officially start a Guild, but I'd love to get you on board." Turning to face the newcomer Max, Kane looked him in the eye. "I'll ask you what I asked him: Name, skill-set, and why you want to join."

Grim entered the tavern, he was just wanting a nice drink, he waved over the bar keeper, "Vodka on the rocks please." He'd just got done getting both him and Ichiro away from the lake on floor one, and was hoping to get a better drink than the swill on that floor. Grim just got his drink, when he noticed a familiar face, he noticed a large man with long blonde hair and wearing blue tinted armor, he was talking to a unusual looking player, this player had pure white hair. And Grim also noticed Trinoko as well, he only met Trinoko once and that was during a misson on floor one, where he met Kane, Ichiro, and Trinoko as well. "But what where they doing up here?" Then Grim remembered seeing a guild request paper outside the tavern, Grim was too tired to recall it, but now he understood what was going on now, "This must be the mercenary guild he told me and Ichiro about." So Grim turned and watched both Kane and this unknown player, and used his passive skill Listening Lvl.0, to hear what he was saying, for he was quite a bit away to hear clearly.

Angel smiled, glad to not have a sword pointed at his face for revealing his past. He had faced many angry mobs of grief stricken players who blamed Beta Testers for the deaths of their friends and allies. But he had either managed to outrun them or hide. He never lifted his weapon against another player unless they were a PKer with interest in his demise. But he felt like Kane , and Trinoko, were good people who really wanted to change things and get people back to the real world safe and sound. It was a cause Angel could get behind.

When Grim heard that Angel was a Beta tester, and how people were trying to hurt him for that reason, Grim became enraged at the people who would do such a thing to Angel. His teeth grinding, and fists clenching, he he was chenching so hard, that the glass in his hand shattered, scattering it around the counter, and then watching it disappear. As he yelled, "Those bastards!!!" "How dare they!!!" Hitting the counter with all his might, causing other glasses and various other item to go flying in the air. Grim then realized what he had done, he turned to Kane, and Angel, and walked over to them, looked at Angel and saying,Don't worry, so long as you have friends you can trust, nothing will happen to you, Kane will always be there for you as well as Trimoko, and I to." Grim looks at Angel and says, "I would like to be your friend too." Grim extends a hand to Angel, hoping to get a greeting back. And at the same time sent a friend request to Angel.

Trinoko raised a brow at the sudden anger from Grim, but did not comment. He merely watched with curiosity until he had finished his rant. He himself had no issue with beta testers. He loved beta testing in other games, so it would make him a huge hypocrite. He sips his drink and watches them. To him, they both seemed like fairly good people.

Grim then appoligized to Kane and Angel for the interuption, he then returned to his seat at the counter picking everything up and putting it back to where belong, "Can't have this... no, no, no." Grim was really a clean freak when it came to things being spotless and clean. Turning his head, he sees Trinoko staring at him, Grim had a feeling he was being watched this entire time, then got up from his perched and walked over to Trimoko, and sat down, signaling the bar keep for another drink. "So im guessing your here for the guild recruitment then Trinoko?" "Im still looking for the materials for my mask, you still have the prints i gave you correct?"

Trinoko grins, this was the second time his name was mispronounced by Grim. "That's TRINOKO, by the way." He chuckles softly and goes on "And more or less. I was there when Kane was brainstorming so I kinda get a free pass." He shrugs "But of course I should be here anyways." He grins and sips his drink "And I would not worry, I always keep a notepad open in the corner of my sight when out of danger. Just a habit." He nods firmly "I still remember about the mask, and don't worry about a time limit. I am not going to disappear."

"I hope so, and sorry, I sometimes forget how to pronounce peoples names won't happen again. "Now you see, your not the kind of person who would die so easliy, anyway now that im here I'll wait till Kane is done to relay some info that he might find interesting." "And I might try and go back out and see if I can get the materials I need." As Grim eyes go silvery again, he thinks about high school and how he got his nickname "The Walking Reaper".

Angel flinched at Grim's sudden outburst. When he approached them, Angel was half expecting Grim to punch him. But then he explained himself and extended his hand in a handshake. At the same time, a friend request popped up into Angel's view. He looked between Grim's hand and his eyes, shifting his vision and observing the player in front of him. Then he grinned and took his hand, shaking it strongly. "Good to hear it." He said as he accepted the friend request. After accepting his apology for interrupting, Angel returned his attention to Kane.

Grim decided that it was time for him to get some sleep, he knew the hour was late. And the icy embrace of long hours of figthing were finally catching up to him. So as Grim finished his <> he decided to bid Trinoko, Kane, and Angel a fond good night, and as he ordered a room for the night, he began to walk toward the stairs to go upstairs, when he suddenly stops. Dead in his tracks, he begins to spudder, and twitch, then falls to the ground.

Angel waved goodbye to Grim as he began to leave for his room. But then, out of nowhere, he dropped to the floor. Angel quickly jumped into action. He jumped from his chair and ran to his side. "Grim! Grim, come on wake up!" He said as he picked his head up off the floor. He quickly flipped open his inventory and searched furiously for a healing crystal or a healing potion at least. But he was horrified to find nothing! "I need a healing crystal over here!" He shouts to the players around him.
